In our current world, atheism isn't considered heresy in most places. In the US, for example, we have freedom of religion, which includes the freedom to not belong to any religion. But in Vorin society, basically everyone is a believer, and they are much more strict about it staying that way, which is why Jasnah is considered a heretic. I agree with your second point though, but I don't remember the context of her saying that.

Do You Feel Represented in WaT, and If So How Well?
who_slew_aicirtap replied to Returned's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I don't think Renarin is bad autism representation necessarily, but it just felt kind of heavy-handed at times. I related to Szeth much more in that regard, and I'm not sure if Sanderson even wrote him that way intentionally. Him not knowing why people dislike him, getting in trouble when he doesn't think he did anything wrong, the black and white thinking, etc. It was all things I've personally experienced and I appreciated seeing that represented. -
Also my favorite scene, as well as being the only part of the book to make me cry. I do find it pretty funny though that Kaladin still has to see things in terms of Tiens in order to empathize with people he doesn't like.

Theres the significance they put on color, the fact that they are regularly raided by people from Steen, they have elected officials instead of a monarchy, funny names, and... yeah I can't really think of anything else. I hope we get more of Shinovar in the future.

But why does it need to be relevant later? There isn't any narrative reason for characters to be straight or cis either, so why is it different here? People are just like this, they don't need any reason for it.

Unresolved questions for the second half

More of a meta question, but who do we think he's referencing in this WOB? -
Unresolved questions for the second half
who_slew_aicirtap replied to Oltux72's topic in Cosmere Discussion
So... did I miss something or did it never explain what the rock in Kaladins's pack was? -
I just watch them on Youtube

There are also some really good in depth summary videos. Daniel Greene recently posted one that goes through each chapter.

What will I do with my Monday's going forward?
who_slew_aicirtap replied to Stark's topic in Stormlight Archive
I don't think I'm intelligent enough to understand what I'm reading without the weekly chapter discussions on here lol. I'll have to start paying extra attention -
Thrawn is my favorite character in anything ever, so I'm excited to see more of El. I wonder if Hoid is going to end up at the Shattered Plains with Sigzil in this book, or if the events that lead to Sunlit Man happen in the back half instead.

So now that we know Dai-Gonarthis is elsewhere, is it safe to assume the Unmade in Shinovar is Chemoarish?

Probably unpopular opinion about WaT sample chapters
who_slew_aicirtap replied to Vin(Diesel)'s topic in Stormlight Archive
Aren't the pre-release chapters supposed to be like 1/3 of the book? Maybe it's just the weekly release format, but I feel like nothing that significant has happened yet. Like, Kaladin hasn't done basically anything in his plotline. -
Aaaah the new chapter icon with Renarin and Rlain!!!! I'm so glad this is canon

Very helpful (and amusing), thank you!!

Shinovar as enclave/anchor to other worlds
who_slew_aicirtap replied to Fyodor32768's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I always wondered if maybe there were two waves of people coming to Roshar. Like, the Shin and then everyone else. And maybe one of the shards (Cultivation probably) altered the land to make it more hospitable to them. -
Off topic, but since it wasn't stated outright, I am choosing to believe that Szeth was breakdancing. I wonder if Kal will use the flute in his therapy somehow.

I have a terrible feeling that Molli is not going to make it. Also, nonbinary Rushu!!!???

I wouldn't be surprised if it was both Dai-Gonarthis and Chemoarish. In Rhythm of War, Ishar says "gods", implying that there is more than one. But I think if one of them has more power than the other, it would be Dai-Gonarthis, for the reasons you described. What we know about it so far seems like it would be the most narratively fitting.

Chapter 19 & 20 Discussion
who_slew_aicirtap replied to Child of Hodor's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'm obsessed with flower symbolism, and dandelions symbolize emotional healing, resilience, and hope. I wonder if that was intentional. -
Hello fellow ADHDer!! Who's your favorite Arcane character?

Chapter 19 & 20 Discussion
who_slew_aicirtap replied to Child of Hodor's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Uhm so real question: how does Szeth know what the leggings under Syl's skirt look like???
