  1. You just gave the definition for pagan. Heresy is any belief that goes against orthodox religion.
  2. In our current world, atheism isn't considered heresy in most places. In the US, for example, we have freedom of religion, which includes the freedom to not belong to any religion. But in Vorin society, basically everyone is a believer, and they are much more strict about it staying that way, which is why Jasnah is considered a heretic. I agree with your second point though, but I don't remember the context of her saying that.
  3. I don't think Renarin is bad autism representation necessarily, but it just felt kind of heavy-handed at times. I related to Szeth much more in that regard, and I'm not sure if Sanderson even wrote him that way intentionally. Him not knowing why people dislike him, getting in trouble when he doesn't think he did anything wrong, the black and white thinking, etc. It was all things I've personally experienced and I appreciated seeing that represented.
  4. Also my favorite scene, as well as being the only part of the book to make me cry. I do find it pretty funny though that Kaladin still has to see things in terms of Tiens in order to empathize with people he doesn't like.
  5. Theres the significance they put on color, the fact that they are regularly raided by people from Steen, they have elected officials instead of a monarchy, funny names, and... yeah I can't really think of anything else. I hope we get more of Shinovar in the future.
  6. But why does it need to be relevant later? There isn't any narrative reason for characters to be straight or cis either, so why is it different here? People are just like this, they don't need any reason for it.
  7. More of a meta question, but who do we think he's referencing in this WOB?
  8. So... did I miss something or did it never explain what the rock in Kaladins's pack was?
  9. I just watch them on Youtube
  10. There are also some really good in depth summary videos. Daniel Greene recently posted one that goes through each chapter.
  11. Totally agree. His flashbacks are the ones I'm excited the most for, but also dreading the most, since religious trauma is something I can definitely relate to.
  12. I don't think I'm intelligent enough to understand what I'm reading without the weekly chapter discussions on here lol. I'll have to start paying extra attention
  13. Thrawn is my favorite character in anything ever, so I'm excited to see more of El. I wonder if Hoid is going to end up at the Shattered Plains with Sigzil in this book, or if the events that lead to Sunlit Man happen in the back half instead.
  14. So now that we know Dai-Gonarthis is elsewhere, is it safe to assume the Unmade in Shinovar is Chemoarish?
  15. Aren't the pre-release chapters supposed to be like 1/3 of the book? Maybe it's just the weekly release format, but I feel like nothing that significant has happened yet. Like, Kaladin hasn't done basically anything in his plotline.
