Sart died to a shade expert counterattack, so it couldn't have been a pallid mask. Also, Archer would have lost a mask by being targeted by TKN's glowpaste.

I'm so confused

Sart died to the wrath of the shades, which is why the counter is at %5 still. right.

Wrath of shades normally only happens when someone dies. Sart didn't kill anyone, therefore he must have been killed by a shade expert's counterattack. That caused Sart to be killed by shades and reset the counter.

This is only my second game, and I was a tad annoyed about someone wasting time to VitC me.

You saw my clarification, correct? That was a GM error.

Oh yeah. I might not have made it clear enough at the end of my post.

Therefore @Kasimir Why are you immediately discounting the idea that Archer had a pallid mask, since per elandera's rules all of the kills act as if they go through regardless of what kinda protect was used

I s2g I've explained this goddamned rule repeatedly.

Because Sart died to a goddamned Wrath attack. A Pallid Mask cannot trigger a Wrath attack. A failed attack, i.e. one blocked by a Pallid Mask cannot trigger a goddamned Wrath attack. I just.

We know there is a Wrath attack because SOMEONE IS DEAD AND THE SHADE COUNT IS STILL 5%. Like seriously just check the write-up counter for one second. It's been 5% nonstop. This cannot be achieved in any other way.

THIS IS CATEGORICALLY IMPOSSIBLE IF SOMEONE WAS KILLED BY ANY OTHER MEANS THAN SHADES.

AND THAT MEANS

Sart died by Shades. And the only way that gets triggered with a failed attack is: Sart attacked someone who was protected by some goddamned Shades, i.e. E!Shade Expert.

Like, I hate the idea of an E!Shade Expert as much as you do because it makes me jin useless against one but there's pretty much no way to defend against the notion the Elims have one at this juncture.

@Elandera

Look IDK what you can confirm about this but if there's anything you can help explain please do because Christ I'm done and I get how you feel now.

Edited to add:

@Illwei IDK if this helps but seriously, if this does: like the whole problem about Wrath goes away if there was a second corpse. No one would have wondered that hard if Archer had dropped dead - straightforward, case-closed "Oh ok Sart must've killed Archer and triggered Wrath." The entire reason this is an issue is Wrath is triggered (the % chance) only if you kill successfully. If the target isn't dead, it doesn't trigger. That's why a solo corpse cannot trigger Wrath because there is no successful victim.

I get that sart died to the shades

I DONT get why a pallid mask would negate this

I also don't care to think ok this anymore

This is why I don't ever pay attention to mech stuff

Oh ok I see the confusion now. Ok, @Illwei - this is not a bad way to think but it's also wrong. While roleblocked kills can cause Broken Survivors, they also cannot trigger Wrath. Wrath requires an actual completed kill. The only two ways to trigger Wrath are: you successfully finish a kill, or you triggered a SE protect. That's it. @Elandera.

Basically roleblocks are weird this game because they still do not count as completed kills, but complete enough to cause Broken Survivors.

こんにちは皆さん、
昨日、私は宛名のない小包を受けました。小包の中身はズドモンの像です。この小包の差出人は私に連絡してください

This turn will end Friday, May 5 at 8:30 p.m. PDT / Saturday, May 6 at 1:30 p.m. AEST.

Player List:

Spoiler
  1. @The Known Novel - Crazy Hary
  2. Archer Cultist
  3. @Matrim's Dice - Enatnom
  4. @Araris Valerian - Read My Role
  5. Telrao / @Illwei - Ealmin
  6. @Kasimir - Mordekai
  7. @The Last Fæ
  8. Amanuensis Cultist with Iron Will
  9. Sart Homesteader Writer
  10. @TheAlpha929 - Roosevelt
  11. @Ashbringer - AraRaash
  12. @|TJ|
  13. @DeTess
  14. @JNV - Jen
  15. Steeldancer / @Walin Lord Momo of the Momo Dynasty
  16. @Alvron - Navor
  17. @Devotary of Spontaneity - Surnia

Rule Clarifications:

Spoiler
  1. Wrath of Shades can only kill the person who sent in the action that triggered it. If a Cultist and a Crossbow user both kill in the same night, they are both rolled at the same percentage and could both be killed.
  2. If a Cultist and Crossbow user are the only ones alive at a night turn, both take action to kill the other, and no other actions are involved (such as the Pallid Mask), the game will end on a tie.
  3. Pallid Mask and Elder Sign Pendant are both passive items.
  4. You cannot use Voice in the Crowd to change a vote to a no vote.
  5. Pallid masks do not stop such actions as opening PMs or passing items as they are not "actions taken against" a player, as in not aggressive actions.
  6. Any form of protection or roleblock that stops an attack, no matter where in the OoA, will cause Broken Survivors unless specifically stated otherwise.
  7. You will always be informed if you lose an ability, role, or item.
  8. Iron Will prevents Broken Survivors as it is not their own action that caused it. I believe in this ruleset, the only form of insanity it does not protect against is using the spell book. Previous iterations had more actions with insanity consequences.
  9. The chance of a Shade attack is never zero.
  10. Pallid Masks do not stop from being voted on via Voice in the Crowd.
  11. Those who kill another player have a 5% chance of their precautions failing, thus they will be attacked by the shades and killed. This does not include the execution. Every time a player kills another player the chances of enraging the Shades increases by 5%. Once someone dies to the Shades, the percentage resets.

@Walin has replaced Steeldancer!

@DeTess, presume you got hit after all?

Did you protect there? Don’t answer that. Actually wait no one died, so I guess that’s a no.

Devo, RB target?

DeTess, did you have silver bones or a mask?

Maybe Steel and JNV are the remaining elims >>

Two writers still, cool. Would appreciate a pm if you don’t mind, I’m kinda bored

If the Spiked have Shade protection, then they'd just be insane unless the Shade Expert put in the kill. But my odds of wrecking them have increased marginally with the loss of their Expert protect. Anyway I'll only say my protect didn't trigger.

I know who the redirect and the roleblock targeted but am going to keep quiet for the moment.

Still kinda not feeling the E!Steel, tbh. But could get on the E!JNV train.

Yeah, I'm 99% sure I got hit. I lost my protective item, so whoever attacked me was not roleblocked.

If we can keep up the momentum. But yeah, at least we have the advantage for now.

I'll clarify publicly then: Araris was roleblocked (sorry) and Alv was redirected to himself.

Ash???

Tbh not really feeling this one. JNV is another option but not really feeling them either.

I was going to keep the text going smaller and smaller until someone pointed it out, but now I can barely read it so how about no.

Yeah, thanks :P Though might've been better to have avoided saying that out loud since now they'll just avoid hitting Devo and wasting a kill on her...

I actually got the Spellbook which was in Archer's possession, so it was me redirecting Alv to target himself.

You did, but supposing we are both Village, the Elims don't know if you gave it to me or to Devo (given both of us were mentioned as possible recipients) or if there's some other under the table communication. Imagination is an Elim's worst enemy and it always helps to keep them guessing.
