Quivil Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 "Can Ji walk? Ji, can you walk?" Kazh retrieved his other knife, cooled it, and sheathed it.
Channelknight Fadran Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 “Just come on.” Elya began to push forwards.
Mystic Syn she/her Posted March 14, 2022 Author Posted March 14, 2022 Ji shivered in Elya's arms, curling into a tight ball. His breaths slowly became more even, but were still coming out short. Voices echoed around him, trying to grab his attention, but he just couldn't understand. He allowed himself to close his eyes for just a little bit.
Channelknight Fadran Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 “Just… hold on.” She was muttering now, focusing almost entirely on their surroundings.
Quivil Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 "Should Ji be allowed to sleep? Yes, it wasn't a blunt trauma head wound, but we still don't know what exactly happened."
Channelknight Fadran Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 “Would you rather we just keep him awake?”
Frustration Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 "That's mostly an urban legend. It's safe for him to sleep."
Quivil Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 (edited) "Oh, ok." Kazh thought for a moment. "Wait no that was hypothermia. Don't listen to me." Edited March 14, 2022 by Tani
Channelknight Fadran Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 Quote Anyways... not much is going to happen on the road until the VERRYYYYYYYY end. So do y'all just want to timeskip to that?
xinoehp512 he/him Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 Grace moved to pick up the Deathgranter's knife.
Channelknight Fadran Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 The streets were quiet. Too quiet. Elya kept an eye out, watching each of the streets and alleyways. Other than the regular passerby and businessmen, there wasn't any sign of anything unusual - which, of course, was the unusual thing. She tried to keep her breathing under control, which was difficult with Ji stuffed into her arms; but there had to be something. There just had to. They reached the building: a massive, towering apartment building. Local commoners sifted in and out of the lower layers, with the wealthiest relaxing up at the top. None of them seemed at all fazed by... well, anything. As they shouldn't, of course, but still... "Something's wrong." Elya said. "The Reapers have to know where we are. They..." She sucked in a breath. "One of you needs to get Ji away from here," she said, placing him down on the ground gently. "Everyone else: get your weapons ready. We're not done fighting yet."
Quivil Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 (edited) "I'll take him to Gramps." Kazh picked Ji up and started walking. Edited March 14, 2022 by Tani

Channelknight Fadran Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 "No. Keep him safe, but keep him close."
DramaQueen she/he/neopronouns Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Quote Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Lyanör followed.
Channelknight Fadran Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 (edited) "The Reapers are covert assassins. They're organized, careful, and thorough. And there's no way that they haven't found us yet, which means that they have to be..." She let out a breath. "Right out there." Elya ran some statistics through her head, then puffed and gripped the hilt of her sword. They wouldn't have told the Pacis their location yet: that would add too many contingencies. Assassinations worked best when there wasn't a trace left behind--including any potential interrogations. To keep things clean, the Reapers wouldn't take any liberties. "We have to kill them. All of them: here and now." @Mystic Syn @Frustration Edited March 16, 2022 by Channelknight Fadran
Frustration Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 "It took all of us to kill just one. Let's fall back regroup and fight them again on our terms."
Mystic Syn she/her Posted March 16, 2022 Author Posted March 16, 2022 (edited) “Oh, I don’t think that’ll be necessary,” a soft voice said. In the blink of an eye, a Korish girl appeared in front of them with a hand on her hip. She looked at them all, studying them. As if glitching in and out of reality, the girl ended up right next to Elya, looking her up and down while rubbing her chin, before appearing next to John before Elya could react. She pursed her lips at him, then glitched right next to Ji on the ground. “Oh, so she did follow through with that,” the girl said, leaning over to study Ji. “What did she use, though..?” As if on cue, Ji gasped for air, what breaths he was getting coming in short bursts. His skin paled further as he broke into a coughing fit, blood coming up and onto the ground. “Arya, you never disappoint,” she smirked, standing up to look at the group. “Since I feel like it and it seems like you don’t have a choice, I’m going to offer something to you that my colleagues have advised me against: A deal. “It’s simple,” the girl continued, without waiting for a response. She looked at Elya, assuming she was the leader. “End your little rebellion and disband yourselves, and I’ll give you the antidote for his condition, spare your pitiful lives, and go on with life as if we all never met each other.” To prove she wasn’t lying, the girl reached in her shirt, pulling out a vial on a silver chain. Pure gold liquid sloshed around in the vial, glowing softly with Mystical power. She held it up for everyone to see, before slipping it back in her shirt. “If you should deny this offer… well–” The girl shrugged “–I’ll just smash the antidote and we’ll finally celebrate there being no rebellion for us to worry about after taking care of you.” Ji tried to get up on his knees, but ended up falling back down, hacking up more blood on the cement below. So dark. So cold. So alone. “I should mention that we’re on a time limit,” the girl mused, looking straight into Elya’s eyes. “His lungs are withering away by the second. Within the next five minutes, it’ll reach his heart, surely killing him… but that’s if he lasts through the lung withering. “I’m afraid that not even the best of Lifegivers could heal him, let alone whatever healing you mutts have. “Tick tock, my dears,” she said, grinning wickedly. “The time is drawing nigh.” Edited March 16, 2022 by Mystic Syn

The cloth on her glove tightened slightly. Mutts? She exhaled sharply, trying to refocus. That liquid- if it was an antidote to the injuries that the Deathbringer's knife caused, it was imperative that she obtain it. A weapon capable of inflicting such a deathly curse would be too dangerous to carry around without a way to reverse its effects. Not that I would carry that around, she thought to herself, hurriedly. I don't want to kill people. Unless I have to. But just to be safe, it would be a good idea to get the antidote. Oh, and to heal Ji, too. She'd show this pureborn brat what mutts could do. Silently she slipped out of sight and stepped into the Enchanted Realm. Edited March 16, 2022 by xinoehp512

"If you even try to break that," she warned, "then you'd be dead in instants."
Frustration Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 "Do you think I'm stupid?" John asked. "If you had enough power we weren't a threat you would have killed us, not prattle on about deals. I doubt that syrum does anything. You're just scared we could actually beat you, and want us to surrender so you can kill us without a fight."
