  1. It could be that the shadow only arrives at night, with this being it's first night in Portland. We could give the shadow a limit of one person per trip, or the shadow could lead Yin Yang to a waiting Lost One, who could knock him unconscious and take him to the isle.
  2. Sorry, I got excited about Science again. Aw, thanks. I don't know what you mean...
  3. "No, bringing up debts is probably not the best idea. You might not even be talking to Winter." The Stranger materialized from a shadow. He reached into a pocket of his dark grey lab coat, as if searching for something. After rummaging around for a while, he tried another pocket, then several more. "Now where did I put those, ah yes." He lifted his tophat and pulled out a pair of goggles with opaque black lenses. He placed them on his face as he addressed the group. "You see, Test Subject 52, or was it 79? Anyway, Winter as you know her underwent a, unique procedure. I was testing a breakthrough, and she seemed like a wonderfully helpful person. And so Winter became one of the first ever receivers of an Essence Spike, something I'd whipped up in Alley 9. Though it was simply meant to be a stepping stone in the path to my goal, it turned out to be a fantastic discovery in it's own right. I was able to spike out a Soul." The Stranger grinned with delight, reveling in this revelation and the awe of the other Denizens. "Not just a piece of a Spirit-web, but an entire soul. There are two entities inhabiting her body as we speak: The Girl, and The Wolf. It was one of our semi-sentient wolves Redbird had crafted here in the Alleys, fine craftsmanship all around. Interestingly, the transfer didn't quite go as planned. Instead of the wolf taking over and subduing the girl's consciousness, it chose to cohabitate with her, in a semi-mutualistic relationship. With her cognitive and spiritual Identities so radically changed, the test subject gained the ability to shapeshift. Unfortunately, there were a few unforeseen side-effects. One is that occasionally the Wolf will fight the Girl for conscious-dominance, resulting in apparent madness. However, as an expert in the art of madness, I can assure you that the test subject is not mad, just a little mixed-up. The other slight issue is that this merging of souls, combined with the extremely high hemalurgic energy I used, left her rather susceptible to Shardic Influence. As such, she may be having a few interesting conversations in her head that she'd rather not have. Which brings us to the matter at hand: Do we simply contain this situation, or do I need to remove the Spike? We could keep her safe here, free from any shard's reach. But the choice will be up to her, unless you say otherwise, Elsa. Or the DA votes to do something. personally, I'd like to take this opportunity to conduct some more, research." He turned to each person individually, his grin becoming Cheshire as Madness-spren swirled around him. "But that can wait. Meanwhile, we should be able to deal with the Shards. I haven't made all these preparations for nothing. And Worst Comes to Worst, I can always access That Alley."
  4. Suddenly, a trapdoor opened in the floor next to Winter. A mechanical arm extended from the darkness and grabbed ahold of Winter, then dissapeared back down the opening. It reappeared, decidedly Winter-less, and dropped a sealed envelope. The envelope unfolded and refolded itself into an origami cookie with spidery letters across it. Greetings Valued Sponsor( and co.), This missive is to inform you that the test subject, commonly referred to as Winter, is safely* residing in our comfortable accomodations in the Dark Alley. I have valuable insight on her current condition I would be happy to share with you at your nearest convenience. Voidus will lead you to our secure facility (Alley 9, located in the People you wouldn't want to meet in a Dark Alley Thread) with the utmost precision, taking care not to make any, unexpected stops. With all Sincerity, The Stranger
  5. Quicksilver would either be an Aggron(Steel Type), or a Dialga(Dragon/Steel) Fade would be a Ghost/Fighting Type(Which doesn't exist), or maybe a Lucario(Fighting/Steel) And for some reason I see Sandman as a Squirtle. Jeff/Dark Phoenix/ Penumbra would be a Dodrio(A three headed bird.) Vondra would be a Tauros(Normal type) There's so many to do! Not exactly Oregon related, but this is the description of Banette, a Ghost-type pokemon. "Banette generates energy for laying strong curses by sticking pins into its own body. It is seen in dark alleys." It looks like this: The DA has officially invaded the Pokemon Universe.
  6. When you dream of the day the Dark Alley will become Cannon.
  7. That would've been awesome. The Legend of Zelda series is my favorite video game series, with Wind Waker ranking as my Favorite Game of All Time. The Adventurer sounds like the kind of gamer who skips through dialouoge. I can see him talking to Lucentia or Lightwards and muttering "b button, b button, b button, b button..." It occurs to me that Tingle and Funtimes would get on famously.
  8. Yes! LoZ reference! Adventurer is now my favorite character. Do doo doo dooooooo!!! You got the rifle! Use it to take down enemies from afar. He needs a companion/guide, to give him information and useful tips.
  9. No,no, you're very right. Inspired me in fact. but this is something more than just the merging of magic and science. This is something we had only hoped was possible.
  10. Actually, no, the Essence Spike was my doing. I'll take responsibility for this one, though I appreciate that Snoopy. a.) Not so much lost as misplaced. b.) she was in the wrong place at the wrong time c.) It's along those lines yes. I'll further explain it all when the test subject returns, as she should be aware of her situation and the options she has. d.) The Possibilities are Endless...
  11. Wouldn't Nighthound's aura of pure despicable slimyness alert everyone though? I can see the Dalles Guards standing shoulder to shoulder with pandas, united against a common evil. But I do agree, Ray should land the finishing blow.

  13. I vote rending obviously. On a positive note, if Nighthound went to the Dalles, Quicksilver would be able to kill him fairly easily.
  14. Something needs to happen to stop this scene from playing out. Quick Twi, we need a Unicyclist-rending!
  15. Well, confusion is my specialty. Not tenseness though, so everyone relax. I'm about as unoffendable as they come. Being the uncultured fellow I am, and by that I mean I have yet to play portal, I thought Lindel had created his clever creation there from scratch, so I whipped up my own, what with having some spare time in the SpikeLab. Knowing Lindel's is a parody makes it better though, so bravo once again sirrah.
  16. Bravo, quality material. Allow a Denizen to submit his own version: We do what we must because no one else will. We sacrifice ourselves, To offer the Worlds Eternity. Perfection is a myth, But understanding elevates. Success or failure, It's all useful data. We use one spark, to ignite an endless flame. Death is a mountain We conquer with Science. You don't have to like us, We're different and strange. Science is a misunderstood art, That we craft for The Future. Would you like a Cookie?
  17. The Stranger watched it all on the screen on his pocket-toaster. He shook his head as he watched the test-subject make a mess of her accommodations. Some folks had no manners these days. He wondered briefly if manners could be gained via Hemalurgy, then dismissed the thought. Even Science had it limits. No, manners had to be taught. Generally with the aid of percussive teaching implements. The picture on the screen fuzzed briefly, and a slice of toast popped out of the device in his hand. He caught it and proceeded to munch as he contemplated the situation. Her lycanthropic abilities apparently had come with some unexpected side-effects. He needed to take a closer look. He pulled a slice of bread from his pocket and put it in the toaster, setting the dial to crisp. The picture switched to the psychowavelength spectrum and told him something very interesting. There were two sets of thoughts coming from the test subject. How interesting. There were only a few possibilities of what that could be, but he had a hunch. The Stranger turned the dial on the toaster to crunchy, but nothing showed up. Nope, not possession then. He turned the dial up to Burned. And there it was. An Essence Spike. So that was where it had gone. It explained alot, but only if you had the data. The stranger was about to go into the room, when he noticed several of the denizens leaving with the test-subject. They left the DA premises and went into a bar, presumably to relax her and get her out of her aggravated state. The Stranger wondered if this was against any codes, but then remembered that the only code was that codes were irrelevant. He grinned. Let them have their fun, I'll tell them when they get back. I'm sure it'll be a wonderful surprise. He turned to a workbench and began fiddling with a strange device with tubes coming out of it. He whistled a merry tune, and without looking stuck out his hand as the toaster forcefully ejected the toast, sending the piece of charred bread flying through the air and into his waiting hand. They would be back. And he would be waiting to tell them the news.
  18. I'm actually going to give the gifting to a Lost One. The gifting also works in tandem with one of the other Lost One's abilities. I can get rid of the Resistance to illusions. Pan's healing is fairly strong, but not nearly at Nighthound's level. He can survive getting stabbed or shot, but not in the heart or the brain. He can regrow a hand, but it takes days. Also, here are some of The Lost I created that are up for grabs. Some Lost Ones Tink: Telekinesis, Resurrection, Glowing energy projectiles, flight and enhanced reflexes gifting. Rufio: Flight, Enhanced Speed and Reflexes, Fire manipulation. Nibs: Can create a physical avatar around himself. It is always an animal. He is immune while in this state. ex: He can create a giant crocodile around himself. He can then stay underwater as long as a crocodile could. Toodles: can create projectiles, for bows, slingshots, blowguns, etc. Can imbue them with different properties, like explosiveness. Can create fruit, which is most certainly a projectile. Especially mangoes. The Twins: Both can make Duplicates of themselves or each other, though the duplicates are vanilla versions of themselves. They gain any knowledge or skills their "dupes" learned when the dupes are reabsorbed or die. Tiger Lilly: Super tracking ability: can sense the direction of someone she's tracking. Can tell if her target has been there or not. Stealth capabilities as well. Slightly: Highly Enhanced physical capabilities(some strength, but primarily speed and agility), hyper-acrobatic skills, can make any surface bouncy. Cannonball: Can give himself instant momentum, launching himself in any direction. He can Detonate, creating an explosion that shoots outward from him. He is not affected by explosions and is immune blunt-force impact. Doesn't need to breathe, which kinda freaks him out.
  19. Sounds good. Edit: Fixed
  20. I was thinking his healing wasn't strong enough to warrant as a PI, just enough to give him an edge. But if we were to get rid of one, which one do you think he should keep?
  21. Awaken a car with the command "Tailgate." Stamp a chameleon to always be visible. Awaken a scare crow with the command "Attract crows."
  22. So, Astoria has become a reality. New Thread, New Epic. Meet Pan: Leader of The Lost Primary Power: Flight Secondary: Gifting Flight and enhanced reflexes. Tertiary: The Pan sword: A sword that can cut through anything except another blade. This sword can absorb massive amounts of impact and is never dulled. If dropped he can summon it and it will fly to his hand. Passives: Danger sense: Similar to Spidey-sense, limited sense of impending danger. Highly accelerated healing: causes him to never age and makes him very hard to kill. Shadow: His shadow can become a copy of him, able to fight, fly, etc. Enhanced body: Highly enhanced speed, reflexes, and strength. Passive Gifting: people near him don't age. Immunity to illusions. 5' 3", with dirty blond hair, often with leaves or twigs in it. He appears to be a 15 year old boy, thin and limber, with an impish grin and burning green eyes. He wears ragged trousers with holes and tears, a faded green t-shirt, and no shoes. You could almost mistake him for a regular kid, were it not for the leather sword belt he wore over his shoulder. And the cutlass. Pan lives on a tropical island off the coast of Oregon. Crafted for him by an Epic, is is perpetually cloaked in fog and is nearly impossible to discover, as it moves. He lives there with his crew, The Lost: a group of child epics who treat him as their leader. They live as they please, wild and rambunctious, a perpetual thorn is the sides of the other Epics of coastal Oregon.
  23. I am full of rejoicing, for I can access the 17th Shard on the computers at my job! Hurrah! Shkepft: it's that color ya know you know, but you can't remember you know. Ya know?
  24. I believed the correct term is Enhanced. And Ruin is no longer in the picture. RIP Ati... Anyway, if you Hazekillers ever need equipment, I'm your man. I'd offer to join, but Nefarious purposes are just too much fun. I'd be happy to consult however. We of the DA have been dealing with Gifted people for a while. We've got tip, tricks, and more. Be forewarned, some of them may be nefarious. Also for those of you interested in long-range Hemalurgy: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/16335-hemalurgic-bullets/?hl=bullets
