  1. I've got to agree with Thebeard, electricity could definitely work, especially for gold compounders. Imagine if you landed a hit on one of their metal minds. Another effective tool could be tranquilizer. Both gas and darts. Once target is neutralized, you can safely execute or interrogate them. Takin' it back, slings and slingshots could be quite effective as they require no metal and can use stones or specialized pellets for ammo. Using their own weapons as inspiration, glass can be effective in multiple forms, as edged weapons or projectiles. This would work well with the slingshot idea. Lassos could potentially be effective, if used in tandem with other equipment. The same goes for bullwhips, though they require more skill. Of course, the best way to make Hazekillers effective would be through the Science of Hemalurgy. Turn your targets into power-ups.
  2. When you worry about work and school cutting in to your forum time. Shoddy workmanship. Not DA approved or affiliated.
  3. Dang, I keep forgetting how verbose the Question threads are. 30+ pages read in one sitting... That was alot of pugs. Winter, Fade's ability causes him to cease existing, so there wouldn't be a heartbeat for her to find, since he doesn't technically exist at the moment. I also wanted to come on record saying that writing the scene where one of your characters shoots Nighthound in the head is incredibly therapeutic.
  4. There are no breaks from Insanity. Welcome Slowswift.
  5. Oh, I see what you mean. That would be strange. I was writing with the assumption that Nighthound was turning to go down a hallway or something, not out of the Museum. I'm cool with making some changes. Quick question first: if Nighthound took a bullet through the knee, would his leg give out, or would he remain standing on one foot? You'd make a fantastic editor, Edge. Workin' on it. It's not easy, Edge has created a pretty unkillable character here. However, his bio gives me hope:
  6. She may be able to sense that he was going to act, but she has no idea what that entails. And he made sure to stand far enough away that he'd have time to react if Nighthound attacked. Fade is a skilled marksman, so hitting a target from 20ft wouldn't be difficult for him. Regarding the Consequences, Fade wouldn't be worried. Wary certainly, but not afraid. Sandman can instantly teleport away from harm, and he can Fade instantaneously. They'd just have to maintain a low profile, which they're good at. It's important to note however that Fade is not acting completely rationally. Nighthound reminds him of someone. I am totally down to make this happen. Due to his incompetence the Mad Ballooner would probably almost get himself killed, then accidentaly shoot Snakehands in the knees. Then himself in the foot. IT would end with both of them lying immoblie on the ground and sharing stories of grand conquest. Or spaghetti. That wouldn't even surprise me. Any others you'd care to share?
  7. Welcome both of you. We will formally accept your applications after you sell a cookie or two in the intro thread.
  8. He's evaluating Nighthound's healing factor. And I don't think Red would have been able to stop him. The fastest time for drawing a gun and firing it accurately is .2 seconds, set by Bob Munden. And that was with a revolver, so the time spent cocking the hammer was included in that time. While I'm not going to make Fade that fast, he's is still pretty darn good. Fade not only has alot of experience shootin' folks with that .45 of his, but he also has enhanced reflexes and he doesn't have to cock his gun. Regarding the pulse thing, his pulse would have been going faster while he was struggling with deciding to attack or not. Once he made the decision, he would've calmed down and become cool and collected before he took the shot, lowering his pulse and making it seem like he had decided against any course of violence. As for the turning around bit, I had assumed Nighthound had turned to go. My bad.
  9. Fade felt his anger rising. If only he could just torture the information out of the girl, it would be so much easier. He wasn't one for bandying words, it gave him a headache. He just wanted to give into the rage, try and kill these objects in his path and interrogate the dying girl while she spent the few remaining breaths she had and get on with it. But getting into a fight lacking certain knowledge was not practical, so he needed to wait. He wrestled with his rage silently as he watched Nighthound turn away from him, dismissing him like he was an insect. Fade decided to compromise. And then he pulled out his .45 and shot Nighthound in the face. He instantly Faded from sight and backed up into a wall, where he watched the epic closely. Hopefully this wouldn't have been a complete waste of time. And there was always plan B.
  10. When asked what they were he'd reply with PAFO (Play And Find Out)
  11. He's still old, but I knocked off a few years for character linking reasons. I did it again? Dang, this is why I should try and post after 1am.
  12. I automatically assumed that a sparkflicker was a Rosharan Zippo lighter.
  13. Fade ignored the other girl. He kept his attention focused on Nighthound and the Girl. He inhaled through his nose, drawing in a calming breath. As he did, his heightened senses detected an unmistakable scent: Blood. He watched with his peripheral vision as the girl reformed the red orb and rolled it away. She could control blood then, though he was unsure of the extent. Still any information was valuable information. "I mention him, because the latest reports have placed him in Oregon. He would have come inland from the coast, heading inwards towards the city that is rumored to be his eventual goal: Newcago." Inside, Fade shivered. Not many knew Quicksilver's true abilities, and even fewer knew the extent of his powers. If he reached his eventual goal, he'd become nigh invulnerable. He had to stop him before that happened. The consequences were too terrible to contemplate.
  14. Hey guys, wanted to give you a quick update and explain my recent lack of participation. The short version: I was nearly homeless. Long version: I'm in college, taking alot of units and spending as much time as possible trying to earn money so I can make my next housing payment. I had a temporary job, but it ended and I still need ed alot more money to make next month's payment, plus trying to keep up with 16 units worth of courses. Fortunately God blessed me with a job on campus that I just got, so I won't have to live in my car. Yea! Anyway, sorry for my increasing absences, I hope to be able to continue to contribute to this awesome literary endeavor. I'd like to have a battle in Thoughttown with Growthspurt and Dodgeball. Growthspurt would die at the end of it. Edit: I also edited the bios for Fade, Sandman, and Quicksilver to fit with the new backstory I've created for them. No new powers or anything though.
  15. I did the biggest double take after reading this. Hadn't pegged Stephen Vondra for a stoner. But seriously Kobold, that was a quality post. Question: will the attacks on thought town and the MoNA be happening simultaneously?
  16. Mail-mi, I played that card game where your profile pic is from! I saw it and I was like "Eeeeeyyyyy!" Then I told everyone to read Sanderson.
  17. A rift opened in the ceiling and The Stranger dropped in. "Well, for hemalurgy to work we need to acquire just a wee bit of a spirit-web. And generally when people lend us a bit of theirs, they tend to, well expire. We wish this wasn't necessary, but until we find an alternative, this is generally how it happens. However, it doesn't always happen that way. When we borrow a bit from someone who can heal there's a fair chance that they may be able to survive." He tapped the wall and an opening appeared. There was a small chime and a mechanical arm extended out, carrying a small iced drink with a paper umbrella. The Stranger grinned and walked towards the wall. "Enjoy your stay. I encourage you to spend some time in contemplation. Does wonders for the Soul." The wall rippled like water and the Stranger walked through it, chuckling softly to himself. He nodded to Voidus who was waiting outside. "Let's head to a workshop, shall we?"
  18. When you try and sell anti-logic talismans to your calculus class. This has given me several fantastic new business ideas. To the Spike-Lab!
  19. Welcome to the Madness that is the 17th Shard, where obsession with the cosmere is nigh universal among our members. Here, have the customary welcome Upvote and Complimentary Cookie. Favorite Moment in WoK?
  20. Relax guys, we allow the Sharders who take a cookie to continue to run around the forums after they've eaten their baked goody. look at traceria for example. Shr's documented as the 1st official victim recipient of DA goods, and yet she's still a contributing member on the forums and of the Herd guild. We don't actively instigate attacks, and we treat all Sharders equally. So let's all be practical about this and not perpetrate hate crimes towards a friendly local organization who's only concern is science. Thanks. Your's isn't bad either. We've got more than one facility ya know. But nice shot all the same.
  21. You don't cure Hemalurgy. It's not a disease, it's a science. That's like trying to cure Chemistry. And don't fret your little heads about Winter. She'll be "fine". As a guest she'll be staying in the finest rooms, be waited on hand and foot, and have the honor of eating the Dark Alley's finest Foods. I almost envy her.*
  22. Maybe Fade also has SUPER-HEARING!!! Or maybe I didn't notice that "barely a whisper" bit of text. Either way, I'll do my best to fix it. Edit: Whoops, I didn't realize I had accidentally left the whole quote box in there. My bad. My apologies to y'all about my level of activity of late. it's going to be a wicked busy semester, so while I'll post as frequently as possible, I can't promise a regular posting every day or so. As for the multiple Question Threads, I think you should just put all of the ponies, shipping and stuff in blue text or something so if people are crunched for time and trying to catch up they can skip it and come back to it later. I really find it entertaining, but you guys have such a crazy output that it's hard to keep up with everything.
  23. Fade was instantly aware of the small red marble rolling towards him. It was most definitely some sort of weapon, one the deranged slave intended to use to protect her owner. He acted as if he hadn't noticed and addressed the one called Ray. "I'm looking for information about a man. He's a ruthless killer, slaughtering anyone who gets in his way. He's massacred thousands, assassinated Epics, and destroyed entire cities. He's regarded as a monster, a myth, but he's real, and I intend to find him." Without warning, he deftly reached out, broke off a thick horsetail reed and threw it into the red orb. "Tell me, have you heard of an Epic called Quicksilver?"
  24. Welcome to the Madness. Here, have an Upvote and a Cookie. Both come free of strings or negative repercussions, despite what some strange people may tell you. It's simply a token of welcome and friendliness. Favorite Sanderson Sidekick?
  25. Welcome to the Madness. Have an Upvote and a Cookie. Beware of other baked goods. Conspiracy theorists and other strange folk try to tempt newcomers with strange and frequently harmful foods, each having an agenda attached. They'll try and convince you that cookies are terrible and dangerous, but they've no idea what they're talking about. This cookie is vouched for by many reputable members of the forum and several of the guilds. Favorite Sanderson Series?
