  1. Well that alone is reason enough to lynch you. J/k thanks for checking in, and the Contribution Crusade will keep that in mind. I hope all is well with you and work and school and life and everything. Edit: just saw Sart's post: I assure you that I am being completely honest. Wilson and I discussed Raven in our PM after she (Wilson) posted her suspicions of her, and right after I began the Contribution Crusade. I said that obviously I couldn't condemn anyone for wanting to lynch inactives, since I had done just that. Wilson said that that was different, because (in her opinion) I had good reasons and Raven didn't. And that was all we said about that. I realize that that's not an outstanding defense by any stretch, but that's how our conversation actually played out. :\ As for your day 1 vote on Ripple- I admit that I don't have an explanation for that. However there are lots of possibilities I can see. Your vote was early in the cycle, so maybe you threw it on her with the intend to change it later, but then saw that you didn't need to. Or maybe you did it to avoid suspicion later if ripple ended up getting lynched (a common eliminator tactic). Or maybe it was a simple mistake (even eliminators can make those) like you didn't realize ripple was that close to being lynched. I don't know. That lone vote is the only thing that gives me any doubt about you being guilty. The other 90% of me, however, whispers that I should leave my vote on you...
  2. It's possible. It's possible that ANY of us who were in PM contact with her was an Eliminator. It's also possible that none of us were and the Eliminators didn't know anything and just decided to kill Wilson and got lucky. My point is that out of all the people Wilson was in contact with, she specifically suspected that Sart was an eliminator. Sure it would matter. Why would the eliminators waste a corrupt action on someone they suspected was being cleaned by the Artifabrian at the same time? Or maybe they had someone else they wanted to corrupt? Or maybe Wilson was inadvertantly planning on protecting one of the eliminators, so they couldn't corrupt her without losing one of their own? I don't really believe that last one (I still suspect Sart), but still, its a possibility.
  3. True, but Wilson was well aware that she was a likely candidate for being corrupted. I don't think she even tried protecting anyone last night, just in case she killed them instead. I do know that she was trying to get ahold of an artifabrian to clean her so that she could use her ability with confidence (which is probably why she revealed her role to so many people). The last I heard from her she thought that she had managed to get in touch with an artifabrian (I don't know who). I don't know how many people knew that, but if the eliminators got wind of it they probably decided it would be better to kill her than have an artifabrian-protected guardsman running around, especially when that guardsman is the great and terrible Wilson.
  4. I've heard of / seen on TV people playing chess via mail over long distances and many months. Which seems like it would have been kinda cool and fun... ...Until the internet came along and spoiled everything, that is. BTW, for anyone who stumbles across this thread at some future point, the Futile Efforts campaign that Claincy mentioned, where an elite crew took on the Lord Ruler, lasted about 7 months from beginning to end. And it was just one fight scene (albeit a very epic and cinematic one). Claincy actually went through and compiled all the narration for it (editing out all the dice rolls and rule discussions and etc) into one big thread. Feel free to check it out here: http://steelministry.com/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=518
  5. In the interest of full disclosure I should admit that Wilson told me her role as well. As best as I can tell it was around the same time she told Kipper. At least, in the pm right after she told me she said that Kipper knows now, too. Without quoting or directly copying/pasting (which GMs typically consider a rule-violation. I don't know Renegade's stance on the subject), she basically told me at the beginning of day 2 that due to things I had said to her in our PMs and things that had happened in thread that she trusted me more than anyone else, and she told me her role. (And since nobody wants to help out with my Contribution Crusade anymore, I might as well disclose everything) What's interesting is that at the time, she phrasing she used was basically "well, since the eliminators probably know my role, the player I trust the most should, too." When I asked her what she meant she explained that in warning Sart about the fallacies of his follow-the-leader plan she implied what her role was, and was reasonably sure that Sart had figured it out. She expressed suspicions about some of Sart's behavior and I told her I'd keep an eye on him. And then Wilson was killed. And I have been watching Sart, and I have to say, nothing he's said has done anything to alleviate my suspicions. He seems to be walking that line that eliminators love to walk of being helpful but not TOO helpful. Twice now he has pointed out that a lynch train has formed without the eliminators offering an alternative lynch candidate, and then has proceeded to offer up an alternative lynch candidate, which reads to me as an eliminator trying to sow confusion. So I have to withdraw my vote on Emerald101 and put it on Sart. No point in trying to watch him and glean information anymore. EDIT: Also, I'm pretty sure I just painted a huge target on my back for the eliminators. If we have any other Guardsmen out there, I would greatly appreciate being protected tonight.
  6. Don't misunderstand me. Yes I am focusing on Inactives in a big way, but I am not focusing on them "above all else." I have several suspicions, I'm just keeping those cards close to my chest for now and waiting and watching. And until some of my suspicions solidify a bit more, I'm focusing on taking out Inactives. I actually very nearly voted for one of the people I strongly suspect (I'd say about 75% certain they're an eliminator) based on their behavior so far this game. I even typed out the post casting the vote for that player, but then changed my mind halfway through, and voted for Emerald instead. I decided to wait a cycle or two before calling out the one I suspect most. You see, I was the GM for LG12, and in it I watched as Metacognition scanned an eliminator on the first night, but then stayed quiet about it for several cycles. He did this so that he could watch her and see if she gave away any of her compatriots. That's kind of what I'm doing here- I'm not an Ardent, so I don't have the same level of confirmation as Meta did, but I'm reasonably sure, so I'm watching this player and a few others to see what they do next. Rest assured I will voice suspicions those soon, when the time is right. And actually, for what it's worth, I don't suspect you Raven (no more so than anyone else, that is). I find it interesting to see who is jumping on the lynch train though. Now let's wait and see who decides to jump off...
  7. Hey, don't talk smack on the assassin. When I was the coinshot (same power as the assassin) in the Anniversary Game, I managed to kill off 4 (IIRC) villagers in a row, beginning with our esteemed GM. And when I finally guessed right and picked an eliminator, they blocked my attack and killed me instead. So as far as I'm concerned, our assassin is doing fantastic. Research done. I was tallying up posts to see who needed a proverbial knock on the door at 4 am from the Contribution KGB Crusade. Most everyone has been active enough, with the exception of Emerald101, whose last post was on Friday, saying that he would be on the next morning with some analysis, then hasn't been online since. Well Emerald, are you still around? Do you have any analysis for us?
  8. Well I can't say I'm surprised the assassin went after Stink. Or that the eliminators went after Wilson. That doesn't mean i have to like it though. Anyway, I never got a chance to get back to the computer before the cycle ended. Such is life. Working on research now, hopefully have something to post soon.
  9. Dang, Adamir. When are you going to be GMing a game? I'll definitely sign up if you do, just to read your write-ups. As for the code idea- that's a really good idea Kipper. And it doesn't have to be just for role reveals or suspicions or etc. It can be for any sort of message. For example: I think I've been corrupted = asdf089as0df I want to eat a hotdog for lunch = 9j0rgr90 Your mom is a conspirator = :P:P So the middleman really has no clue what sort of message he is passing on, all he sees is "9j0rgr90" or whatever. The only possible downside is if the eliminators have 2 couriers, or a courier and a con artist with a courier ability for the day, and just happens to be spying on the conversation you wish to protect AND the middleman. But the odds of that ever happening are astronomically low. Anyway, I believe someone suggested that we discuss who the brightlords/ladies should vote for tonight? Any suggestions? I'll have a few of my own in a minute here, once I do a bit of researching... EDIT: Make that in a long while- work calls. EDIT: Ninja'd by Kipper himself...
  10. No, it wasn't me. I think you're thinking of Eolhondras, who PM'd half the players in the game saying "I know you're the tineye" and actually got a couple people to role-reveal to him, including one of the actual tineyes. The name-banners (for lack of a better name) were started a few months back by Kasimir, who made some for himself and a few other people, and he included the player's name, scores (wins/losses/deaths/etc), and titles they had earned from their participation in particular games. As for my titles, Bunnybane refers to LG4, and specifically to a series of events which include this post (in which my character brought a bunch of baby bunnies into town), and this post (which started a trend of dead eliminators RPing that they were possessing bunnies which lasted the whole game), and this post near the end (in which I proposed a bounty be placed on rabbit pelts as part of our treaty negotiation), and finally, this post (which shows the aftermath of everything). Quintessential Tineye refers to LG2, in which I spent far too many hours coming up with clever and convoluted/coded messages to post to everyone as the Tineye (which in most games, the Tineye can post anonymous messages to the group in the writeups). There have been others who have come after me who have done even more amazing things with tiny-messages and codes, but I was the first, so Metacognition granted me the title of Quintessential Tineye. See this post and the posts immediately after it for a compilation of all my messages, as well as what I hid inside them. Contribution Crusader should be pretty obvious, as it is new as of this game. EDIT: fixed color
  11. Even more than that, the Corruption mechanic really cripples a "follow the leader" strategy. Even if we get a confirmed ardent to follow, with guards and artifabrians protecting them, there are two many people involved in that pyramid and the eliminators only have to corrupt 1 of them for the pyramid to collapse and implode. I suggest to any ardents: lay low, stay quiet (about your role at least). Start scanning people you suspect, and when you find innocent players, open PMs with them the next day. It's going to take several cycles to build up a trust group and make sure you're not corrupted. However, that being said, people please be aware that even if an ardent PMs you and correctly tells you your role, that doesn't necessarily mean that the ardent is a VILLAGER ardent. The eliminators could have one too. In short: everybody should be playing their cards close to their chest. Edit: fixed color
  12. Way to go assassin! What a great way to start the game! Aside from phat that is. And while I am excited that we took out an eliminator already, it does kind of steal the thunder from my new Contribution Crusader banner. Still, I'm serious about not letting players get away with inactivity (unless you warn us ahead of time, of course) and about not punishing players for posting a lot by lynching them. I'd like to invite everyone who like to have everyone participating in these games to copy the banner into their own signature. Contribution Crusaders unite! Speaking of which, for now I'll be putting my vote on Feligon, another one who is experienced but who still hasn't posted since the game started. Edit: retracted vote
  13. In response to those people who are suspicious of me for "starting a lynch train": This has been discussed in previous games, but to be frank, strictly speaking I did not start a lynch train. I cast a vote and voiced my opinion less than 2 hours before the end of the cycle, that was it. It didn't become a "lynch train" until other players jumped on and voted for Phattemer too. I had no way of knowing how other players would react, and I honestly didn't expect people to latch on and vote with me. In fact, I feared the opposite- that people would jump on me for voicing an unpopular opinion so strongly, which is usually what happens to me in situations like this. @Araris: I can assure you that this was no ploy or anything of the sort. I have been genuine in all of the opinions I have expressed in my posts. And actually, Paranoid King's post up above said it better than I did- that's exactly why I voted the way I did.
  14. Well I stand by my vote. Of course I'm sad to see that Phat was innocent (sorry phat), but I would honestly rather lynch an innocent who isn't contributing anything than lynch an Eliminator who is active, at least at this point in the game. Why? Because the more that the Eliminator is contributing to the discussion to more information he or she is giving us. And once one eliminator is lynched we will have a lot of posts to analyze and compare and use to find the other eliminators. Besides, taking it a step back beyond the villagers vs eliminators aspect of the game- By lynching an inactive player it leaves one active player- someone who is involved with and enjoying the game- alive to enjoy and play the game a little longer. And win or lose, that is a good thing. Now all of that being said, it IS interesting and a little surprising that so many people followed my lead- I was honestly expecting to be alone in (if not outright lynched for) my little crusade.
  15. Wannan listened to the bustle of conversation swirling about him. Layers and layers, with everyone talking over each other in an effort to be heard. It was enough to leaving him feeling confused and head aching. But there were patterns to those swirls of conversation, if he could only pick them out and decipher what it meant. Really, it was a lot like... like... like the Diagram. Wannan smiled and took a sip of his wine. Confused or not, he felt right at home. Seriously, I'm loving all this activity! I haven't seen a game this active since the early days of SE, and maybe not even then. It's been a while, and people have probably forgotten in the midst of all the other posts, but I did want to address Alvom's suspicions of me. Yes, I absolutely do have an agenda with my vote and my retraction. It is my custom to NOT post all the reasons why I vote for someone, as others can attest However, in this case, I will tell you my reasons: The "meta" of the game has developed to the point where we have a very strong tendency to lynch the active players. Quite often, this leads to all of the active players being gone halfway through the game and a bunch of inactives left during the end game. This grinds against me something fierce. I don't think that people should be penalized for posting and discussing in these games. Just the opposite. I want to see everyone posting and talking and discussing (and so far this game we're doing great!) so that we can catch the eliminators in their lies. So, in the absence of any strong evidence, I will gladly lynch an inactive player over an active one, even if there isn't much evidence against the inactive and I've got good reason to suspect the active. Like now. There are a couple people who have raised my suspicions so far today. I will be watching them closely, but I will not be voting for any of them... yet. Instead, I'm going to throw my vote on Phattemer. He's played enough games to know better than to be this inactive. The same can be said for Feligon and to a lesser extent, Shallan. I encourage everyone to follow suit. Lynch the Inactives! Let the Actives live! Force the Eliminators to be active and post if they want to stay in the game- eventually they will slip up and we will catch them in their lies! I realize this position may not be popular. I realize that it may raise suspicion against me. I realize that I may end up getting lynched because of it. I don't care, I'm sticking to it. Edit: fixed color
  16. Brightlord Wannan listened intently to the buzz of conversation for several minutes before speaking up again. "So, it's to be a trial and an execution, is it? Well then, in that case, I propose we send Caesarae to the chopping block. The diagram clearly states in Paragraph 17, Bottom of the Left Sock Drawer, that 'Those with a deceitful and traitorous nature tend to favor the color green in all things fashion.' And, well, the cape adorning Caesarae's suit clearly speaks for itself." So at risk of being stoned for casting the first vote (@Alvom: if you wish to vote for Mallan you need to color your vote red, as I have done), I'm voting for Caesarae (Adamir). I say if we're going to make a day one lynch we might as well go after someone who appears to be inactive. Adamir made a very lengthy RP post before the game began, but hasn't posted anything since. Perhaps his efforts are being devoted to the Eliminator doc? I mostly agree with this assessment, but I highly doubt that the Eliminators have a guardsman. That would mean that they would be just one corruption away from having 2 kills per night. The same goes for Antifabrian, to a lesser degree. EDIT: Color. And I see I got ninja'd for casting the first vote while I was typing this up.
  17. Brightness Wannan stumbled up to the feast, suppressing a yawn. He cringed as he approached the first island- Wit's customary ambush spot. Wannan wondered what Wit would choose to mock him for this time. The bags under his eyes from lack of sleep? His slightly rumpled suit? Surely the man wouldn't make fun of Wannan's new daughter... Would he? Fortunately, the sarcastic black clad man wasn't there. Thank the storms Wannan thought as he hurried to his table and took his seat. "Alright then," he said cheerfully, "What have I missed? Am I too late for dessert?" Sorry Ren and everybody, I wanted to do a good RP post for night 1, I MEANT to do a post, but didn't get the chance. Even writing this little one has taken me over an hour as I have only had brief moments here and there to work on it. Edit: fixed color
  18. Cleo hadn't drawn her whet stone across her blade a half dozen times before she began regretting her choice of tables to sit at. "... And on the 72nd floorboard, 3rd stanza, it said 'upon the winds up high the Sprens of wind shall never die' which we thought meant that our mission was certain to be a success, so we set out with gusto to complete our task and prevent the next desolation." Brightlord Wannan was saying, "But of course we were wrong! Far from having success, our whole expedition died! The warcamp found us out and killed us one by one." "If they killed your whole team," Cleo grumbled skeptically, "Then how did you end up being the only survivor?" "That's just it! I didn't! I was the first of us to go! Some bloke dropped out of the sky and burned a hole straight through my chest. Stormin' rude, if you ask me. To add insult to injury they just dumped my corpse in a chasm without a proper funeral or even so much as burning a prayer for me. Now, I don't know if it was the hole through my chest or the lightning strike in the chasm that sent me back in time to now... Or maybe it was the chasmfiend that ate my corpse... But regardless, after that I-" "Ahem." Wannan was interrupted by a young servant girl. "Brightlord?" "Yes?" He said, turning to the girl. Cleo took the opportunity to snatch up her knives and run before Wannan could continue his mad ramblings. "I've been sent to tell you that your wife has delivered the baby," the young woman said. "It's a girl. Both mother and daughter are in good health. You are now permitted to join them in the medica tent." "Aha! That's wonderful!" Wannan said, glory spren popping in a little cloud around his head as he rushed off to see his new daughter. Today my wonderful wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Just wanted to share with you all. Edit: typos Edit2: so if my ability to post is sporadic over the next few weeks, you know why. Thought I'd mention it now before the game starts and people start to wonder if I'm laying low as part of a strategy to stay hidden or not.
  19. Good game everyone, even if I lost. It doesn't matter though, you can't fight the diagram! A big thanks to Aonar- this was a great set of rules and felt very balanced to me. There was a lot of fun strategizing tied up in when to use stormlight and who to squire and etc. His writeups were great, and I consider it and honor and privilege to have been able to step in and help out with a couple of them. Now, I'm off to continue Wannan's story in Renegade's MR8!
