  1. You do realize that Maill's dying request was to kill Mark first, then me, right? Just saying. Edit: a thought just occurred to me. One which I feel best not to discuss in thread. However, It had changed my mind about a few things. I still don't think that revealing roles is a good idea, but I no longer suspect Sart for proposing it. In fact, I'm going to join him in voting for Elkanah- who has done at excellent job at flying under my radar all game.
  2. Well I have to say that I'm torn about Sart. On one hand, the fact that he's a Smoker DOES make him suspicious, because its very likely that the spiked do have a Smoker, and his "role claim" in his RP was subtle enough that it might have been a slip. Or he's trolling us. On the other hand, he did make a convincing defense as to why he felt it worthwhile to tell us his role, and why the eliminators would have no (good) reason to do that. However, having everyone announce their roles at this point in the game would all but literally be handing victory to the Spiked. Terrible terrible idea. It wouldn't help the village at all, because: Meta's role distributions are notoriously hard to guess The eliminators are going to lie about their roles. Or they won't. But we have no way of knowing, so we can't learn anything from what they claim. And lastly, we have a half dozen or so players who are inactive enough that we're not going to get a response out of them. So any roles claimed are not going to help us find any eliminators. However it will help the eliminators prioritize targets and eliminate the biggest threats to them. So sorry, Sart, I gotta vote for you for now.
  3. So let's see here. If Maill wasn't a smoker then that means someone else smoked him. Did we ever find out the identities of all of the smokers back when Kas was trying to get us to examine them and figure out which one(s) might be an eliminator? Edit: I just read Sart's RP (I skipped over it earlier). So Sart are you claiming to be a smoker?
  4. Well... Poop. Sorry Maill. If it's any consolation, I'm sure I'll be joining you soon. Also #IRegretNotPushingTheContributionCrusadeHarderThisGame
  5. Huh. Funny, I was just getting on to say we need to be discussing more, even if we are decided on our lynchee. So by my reckoning I am (or was) one of the top suspicions of Maill, Alvron, Haelbarde, and now Orlok. There are probably a few others who suspect me as well. I can't say I'm too surprised- usually by this point in the game I've become a prime target for suspicion, whether or not I've been evil. However this game I fail to see exactly why. I admit I haven't been the most useful this game, what with activity coming in short bursts here and there, but I have tried my best to help the villagers win whenever I could. Obviously Hael can no longer respond, but to the rest of you: can I ask why exactly you suspect me so? I'll answer any questions truthfully. Edit: I will say, too, that if by some freak circumstance Maill ISN'T evil, then we've pretty much lost the game. Because if Maill dies and is innocent I'll almost certainly be next, and- even though none of you have any reason to believe me- *I* know that I'm innocent. Which means that in a couple cycles we'll be down two more villagers plus whoever the Spiked kill.
  6. Well crap. I'd like to point out my last second post (literally- after submitting the message I refreshed the page and Meta had already locked and transferred the thread to the main AG2 thread ) in which I talk about a bunch of stuff and state my reasons for voting Maill today.
  7. Okay, let's see here. I'm reposting some stuff and stating obvious things just to help me work through things I see. First, Hael's list: It's probably worth noting that Jain was a Thug, but is now down one life. I added that little bit in. From this past cycle: Votes before manipulation: Actual votes: So we had two people soothed: First, Alvron (who was confirmed by Haelbarde) was soothed off of me. The fact that he was targeted by a soother either means that Soother#1 was spiked, or that he was a Villager who was blatantly ignoring Hael's suggestion to scan non-confirmed players to try to find Smokers. Second, Ripple was soothed off of Maill. I don't have as many insights to draw from this one. Either way, we can now add Alvron and Ripple to the list of people who weren't smoking Maill last cycle. It doesn't tell us much, but hey, I'll note that on the list above anyway. Also, it seems likely that we either have 1 Village Soother and 1 Spiked Soother, or we have 2 Village Soothers who sometimes work against each other. It seems unlikely that we have 2 Spiked Soothers working against each other. The fact that Alvron was Soothed suggests to me that we have 1 vSoother and 1 sSoother though. Now as for Maill- I suspected him before, but after the last cycle I'm definitely of the opinion that he needs to be lynched/killed, whether or not his erratic behavior is "part of his play style." There is just too much stacked up against him. His erratic voting patterns shaky reasonings for the same just for starters. Also the fact that he was smoked last cycle should be a huge red flag. Mathematically speaking, there is at least a 50% chance that he is a Smoker and was Smoking himself. The other alternative is that someone else (presumably spiked) is a Smoker and targeted Maill. But really, the odds are much higher against Maill. Assume for a minute that the sSmoker was not Maill and was simply trying to block Hael's scan. There were a few likely targets, and Maill was definitely one of them, so we'll put it at a 33% chance that they guessed right. Another possibility is that the sSmoker was not Maill and smoked Maill because he is also an Eliminator with a useful role that the sSmoker was trying to protect from being scanned. And lastly, there is the possibility that Maill was the Smoker in the first place (again, a 50% chance that this was the case) and if he is, then he is almost certainly an Eliminator. Do the math, and there is a very high likelihood that Maill is an Eliminator, just from the fact that he was being smoked last cycle. Add to that all of his suspicious behavior and erratic tendencies, his outing of Haelbarde and the group of Verified players, and I will be SHOCKED if Maill is a villager. Its too late to do anything about it during this night phase, but come the day cycle we need to lynch Maill. Out of time for this night phase, have to post this before it ends. Will post more during the day phase.
  8. Okay, I'm back and have read through everything I missed. Wow. REALLY not a good cycle to go inactive for. Sorry everyone. I am in the process of typing up my thoughts, theories, and suspicions and will try to have them posted before the cycle ends in case I don't survive until tomorrow.
  9. *comes back to check the thread* *sees he was very nearly lynched* :S Thanks to whatever soother trusted me enough to save me! Not a great time to go inactive for a day or two. Sorry everyone, been busy. I'll reread things and reply to them before the cycle is over. But in the meantime let me just affirm that I am NOT spiked, nor am I a Soother. However, neither do I have any important role for the villagers, so if I do get taken out by a Coinshot/Mistborn, we wouldn't be out much- just the loss of one semi-active villager. Edit: fixed typo
  10. FAQ (aka, someone asked me a question and I thought I'd include the answer here): Q: What time will each session end? A: The store closes at 10:00, so it will go no later than that. I expect sessions to last 3-4 hours each. Q: So I don't need a copy of the MAG, but what if I want one anyway? A: Crafty Games sells the PDF of the MAG on their website for just $15, and occasionally it goes on sale for less than that. Or if you decided to get a physical copy of the book, I believe Crafty Games is still shipping all orders with another free exclusive Allomancy die- with the symbol for Aluminum. Q: Is there an age limit? A: No age limit for the store. If players are old enough to read the Mistborn novels, they're old enough to play the game.
  11. @Kadrok: Just show up early and have an array of spikes laid out on the table, each one labeled with one of our names. That should do the trick.
  12. Cool! Thanks for the extra promotion Weiry! And sorry about that Kadrok. Maybe we should start a "Fly Kadrok to America so that he can play Mistborn with us" fundraiser? How's this: Anybody who buys Kadrok a plane ticket to america will get all three of the prizes listed in my post!
  13. Apologies for my part in not participating. I've been busy all day working on setting this up. In a nutshell, I'm going to be running a Mistborn Adventure Game campaign beginning on Wednesday, 2/24 in Salt Lake City, UT. Anyone who plays in the campaign gets a free set of Mistborn Allomancy Dice or some other nifty gift. Should be a lot of fun- so if you live near Salt Lake and are interested, come check it out! [/blatant promotion] EDIT: Color
  14. I posted this over on Crafty Games' forum, but I thought I'd go ahead and repost it here, too. After all, the more who know about this, the better! In a nutshell: I'm going to be running a Mistborn RPG campaign starting Wednesday, Feb 24th, 2016 at 6:00pm in Salt Lake City, UT, open to all comers. All participants will receive a free set of Crafty-Games' Mistborn dice, or if they already have dice, some other prize (see below). The Details: Who: I will be Narrating. Hopefully YOU will be playing. This campaign is open to anyone who is interested and can make it to the Salt Lake City area on a reasonably regular basis. No previous experience with the Mistborn Novels or the Mistborn Adventure Game (MAG) or Role Playing Games in general is required- the campaign will be accommodating of new and experienced players alike, and it shouldn't spoil anything from the novels. What: We will be playing the Mistborn Adventure Game- a roleplaying game based on Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn Novels. Specifically, during the first session we will be introducing players to the game and the rules via a very short, 1-session adventure. In following sessions we will be playing the Beasts of Burden adventure found in the Skaa: Tin & Ash game supplement (so if you are interested in playing, please do NOT read the Beasts of Burden portion of the Skaa supplement). I will be providing everything needed to play the game, so if you don't have the rulebooks or dice or whatever, no worries. If you would like to bring some of your own supplies, I recommend a pencil and 10 six-sided dice. There is no charge to play in this campaign, it's completely free! When: The first session will be on Wednesday, February 24th, beginning at roughly 6:00pm. Subsequent sessions will likely be on Wednesday evenings, on either a weekly or bi-weekly basis. I anticipate that this campaign should run for a duration of roughly 4-6 sessions over the course of 2-3 months, depending on players' schedules. *Note: If you are interested, but this schedule does not work for you, PLEASE email me (address below) PM me and let me know what schedule would work for you. Where: The folks at Game Night Games, a family friendly table-top gaming store in Sugarhouse, Utah have graciously allowed us to use a portion of their gaming area to play. I know these guys pretty well and they are seriously a great group, and the store is more friendly and comfortable than most gaming stores out there. Here is the address: Game Night Games 2148 S. 900 E. Suite 2 Salt Lake City, UT 84106 Phone: (801) 467-2400 http://www.gamenightgames.com link to their calendar event for this game Why: Do I really need to answer this one? Oh alright then. To get together with some new friends and play some Mistborn Adventure Game, of course! If that isn't enough to pique your interest, maybe this will: Free Mistborn Dice! Courtesy of the awesome guys at Crafty Games, I have a number of extra sets of Mistborn Dice from their recent kickstarter. They would like me to demo the game for them (hence this event) and give the dice away for free to players as an incentive to come try out the game. So here is how I'm planning on working this: Every player who participates in this campaign (to a reasonable degree- such as attending at least half of the game sessions) will receive a set of 10 Mistborn Allomancy Dice, featuring the Allomantic symbols for all of the Mental and Physical Metals as well as Gold and Atium. If a player already has a set of Allomancy Dice (and doesn't want a second set), then he or she will instead receive the 3 Allomancy dice given to backers of the Kickstarter Campaign, including the symbols for Lerasium, Duralumin, and Electrum. If you missed out on the Kickstarter, this is an excellent way to get ahold of these exclusive dice. If a player already has all of the above dice, then I will have an additional gift available to them. I'm not quite sure what yet, but I do have access to a 3D printer as well as an embroidery machine, so I'll make sure it's something good. Currently I'm thinking I'll make some custom, embroidered Mistborn coin pouches dice bags, though I am open to suggestions. How: If you're interested, all you need to do is show up at the date, time, and place listed above! However, I would greatly appreciated it if you emailed me sent me a PM first and told me of your interest in the campaign as well as your familiarity with Mistborn and the MAG. That way I have an idea of how many people to plan for and how much time I need to spend explaining the rules and setting. My email address is <script data-cfhash='f9e31' type="text/javascript"> /* */</script>. And again, if you are interested but this particular event/campaign doesn't work for you for whatever reason, please email PM me anyway. Maybe we can work something out. What else? Okay, enough with the info-dumping, let me just talk about this for a little bit. This all started when Crafty Games sent me more Mistborn Allomancy dice than I had ordered. Rather than having me return them, they suggested I do something like this, and I'm glad they did. I have been playing Role Playing games off and on for more than half my life, and I have been playing the Mistborn Adventure Game actively for the past three years. It is easily my favorite game system so far; it's flexible and fluid, easy to remember the necessary rules, and it's very narrative driven rather than rules-driven, which I love. My favorite aspect of Role Playing games is getting together as a group and creating a story together, and that is exactly what the MAG focuses on. As for the Mistborn books, they are hands down my favorite novels out there. The world is just so unique and fascinating, the characters are fun, the magic system is so dynamic and different, and the story is just so epic! And Brandon Sanderson is an incredible Author and a really great guy in person. Seriously, if you haven't read them yet, go pick up Mistborn: The Final Empire (book 1) from the library and get ready to have an incredible experience. If you are a little nervous to meet up with a group of strangers and play a Role Playing Game with them, don't worry- I am too! I've never done anything quite like this before, with complete strangers, but I'm excited to give it a whirl! I look forward to meeting a few new players, making some new friends, and crafting our own story in the world of Mistborn! Thanks to Brandon Sanderson and Crafty Games for making this possible! EDIT: Apparently 17thshard doesn't like people posting their email addresses. Makes sense I guess. So instead of emailing me you can just send me a PM.
  15. Fair enough I think you are misunderstanding the rules. Thugs block the first kill that comes their way, and that's it. It doesn't matter if the second kill comes the same day or several cycles later, the second kill will go through. Think of it this way: Thugs have one extra life. Once that extra life is used up, it's gone for the rest of the game, and the thug is now basically a normal, no-powers player. Edit: spelling
  16. Vote Tally before Vote Manipulations: (0) Hael: Mail (3) Maill: Hero, Phatt, Kipper, Elbereth (0) Hero: Maill (0) Alvron: Elkanah (5) Jain: Alvron, Maill, Hael, Hero, Elkanah so it looks like there were 2 emotional allomancers who really wanted to keep Maill alive. interesting... edit: spelling edit 2: Elkanah's point was that we can learn more from Maill''s posts than Jain's, since Jain isn't posting anything at all. By keeping Maill alive we can continue watching what he says and then when he dies and we know his alignment we can infer things from what he said.
  17. Vote Tally thus far: (0) Hael: Mail (3) Maill: Hero, Phatt, Kipper, Elbereth (0) Hero: Maill (1) Alvron: Elkanah (4) Jain: Alvron, Maill, Hael, Hero Well, Maill is still one of my biggest suspicions, but I find myself being swayed by statements such as these: I am the founder of the Contribution Crusade. So to that end, even though I still have suspicions towards Maill, I'm going to vote for Jain and hope that vote shenanigans don't thwart us. Also, for the record, if I get killed soon or whatever, I am also starting to suspect the following: Haelbarde: His behavior this cycle- a few posts, not contributing much, and then jumping on a lynch once it was already going. Elbereth: Lots of posts, lots of RP, not a whole lot else. Possibly an Eliminator hiding behind RP? Phattemer: Active enough to post once this cycle and cast a vote, but not active enough to attract any attention. Good place for an Eliminator to be. Maill (still): As stated, his tactics from last cycle don't sit well with me. None of those suspicions are very strong, but there you go. So why am I voting for Jain? Because I would rather spend the rest of the day talking with the Eliminators and trying to see through there schemes than spend the rest of the game not talking with anyone because they're all inactive. I mean, we're only 6 cycles in. That's way too early for the conversation to be drying up. edit: formatting
  18. First off, I told you- oh wait, Maill already said that. @Haelbarde: Yes, Wyrm was fixated on me for the last few cycles, mainly because, said he, that my recent posts were lacking in substance. And he was right about that last bit at least- I haven't had as much time to devote to this game as I was hoping. Even now it's currently 1:16 in the morning and I should be in bed because I have work in 7 hours. But honestly, if my posts lacked substance it was because I had nothing of substance to put in them. I've had very few suspicions, and the whole game I have only participated in PMs with 4 people, 3 of whom are now dead: Kas, Stink, Wyrm, and Kipper. In every case they instigated the PM with me. Nothing much of significance was discussed in any of them, save for Kippers, where we briefly discussed our thoughts on a few players- most of whom are now dead. Anyway, I am going to start by putting my vote on Maill. This whole thing from last cycle: doesn't sit very well with me. It could be true, but it could also be all too easy of a move for an Eliminator to pull to try to gain some trust and stir up some confusion at the same time, because the Eliminators already know who all the good villagers are. And this post came too late in the cycle for Hellscythe to be saved. On it's own, it wasn't enough to warrant a vote, but then there was this from last night: If you were just a proxy for a proxy for a seeker, then your own role must not have been very important, right? So what was the point of publicly asking for Lurcher protection? It doesn't make sense. Unless you were a spiked trying to draw Lurcher protection away from the person you wanted to target- aka Wyrm, the last Tineye. Then it makes perfect sense.
  19. I don't know why I keep needing to repeat this, but Tineye Wyrm, even if he is evil, should be left alive for now. If we are convinced that he should be lynched, that's fine, but let's do it around cycle 9 or 10 when we're coming into the end game, not cycle 5. Also I don't know why Wyrm keeps insisting on voting for me when I am one of the ones arguing the most vehemently to keep him alive (unless he IS a spiked Tineye and he's trying to get himself killed). As for my post earlier with little substance- I put all the substance into it that I could in the few seconds I had this morning before rushing off to work.
  20. You mistake me (on purpose perhaps?) my good sir, I in no way think that one of the Tineyes must be evil. I think that YOU are evil, and you also happen to be a Tineye. Big difference. Also, remember that I am one of the ones vocally arguing that we DON'T lynch the Tineyes, because evil or not they are still valuable to us as a group. As for the lynch, I am going to withhold my vote for now. EDIT: also, a PSA for everyone regarding Seekers and trust groups: Just because someone PMs you and says "hey I'm a seeker and I know you're good and I can prove it because your role is ______" does NOT mean that they are a VILLAGE seeker. With two seekers out there odds are very good that one of them is a Spiked seeker (or possibly even a spiked regular who is posing as a spiked seeker to protect the real spiked seeker's identity). Go ahead and carry on any PMs and trust groups and whatever with anyone you gives evidence that they are a seeker, but keep a close eye on them as well and don't follow them blindly. Be smart and trust nobody. The ONLY person in this game who can trust other players 100% is a village seeker who scans another villager. Everyone else, be wise and be cautious.
  21. Re: Stink vs Wyrm: I still suspect that Wyrm is evil, and if he's not then Stink probably is. However, I'm still of the opinion that we don't lynch either of our Tineyes for a good long while still. Good or bad, they're still beneficial to us, so if the Eliminators want to cut off our communications let's make them use up their night-kills to do it, along with playing I Know You Know with our Lurchers.
  22. hey all, I'll take my fair share of the blame for the inactivity this past cycle. I've been busy IRL and every time I have gotten online I've only had a couple minutes- not even long enough to get caught up with the thread. I will endeavor to get caught up sometime today.
