Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Herowannabe replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yeah, I don't really see how voting to set things up for vote manipulation helps us. At all. Like I REALLY don't see the value in it. Its basically saying "Hey Eliminators, why don't you just decide which one of these two people we should lynch today. And here, we'll let you do it anonymously. You're welcome."- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Herowannabe replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well finally got through speedreading all the posts I missed. Haven't had a chance to really process it though. I was going to pass on voting today but I don't like this last minute movement to try to save Drake. I see nothing about his role reveal or his targets that would lower my suspicions of him. He was never at the top of my suspicion list, but something about that reveal, combined with the end of the day votes on "an alternate lynch target, just rubs me the wrong way. Drake. Wait, is that another role claim for smoker?- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Herowannabe replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
After nearly two full days in bed, the fever finally broke. Herwynbe rose and shakily made his way to the washbasin where he splashed some water on his face. The fever had come on suddenly and had confined the steward to his bed the entire time. What is the situation with the village? What about the Koloss army? Are preparations being made to deal with them? By the forgotten gods, I have missed so much. Too much. I must get back to work. Herwynbe made his way down to the kitchens. He was still weak from his illness, but he would have to do the best he could anyway. Hey guys, sorry I've been absent the past few days. Real life reared its ugly head and I have barely had time to check the thread, let alone post anything. The flip side is that things are tentstively looking good for getting my business started, that's what's been occupying most of my time I've missed most of the past couple days worth of posts. Trying to get caught up today.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Herowannabe replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Herwynbe delivered the book to his master, then spent a few minutes around the manor making sure everything was in order. Now, to attend to the business of all these troubling rumors swirling around the town. Fortunately I have plenty of daylight hours left to... His train of thought cut off as he stepped out of the manor. The town was dark and mists swirled around him ominously. Maybe those household chores took a little bit longer than I thought... Seriously though, its night!? I honestly thought we had another 24 hours left. Has is really been two days since day 5 started? I guess so. All the days are blurring together for me. Anyway, I meant to come back before the end of the cycle and if people didn't take me up on my proposal to do a test lynch on Wonko then I was going to change my vote to whoever was in the lead to prevent vote shenanigans. Luckily it looks like that wasn't needed! So Nyali was another mistborn eliminator. I'm starting to wonder if people are right about the eliminators being composed of nothing but mistborn/regulars. That would certainly explain a few things, like some of Coinshot targets. It doesn't really explain why PMs have only been open 1 out of 6 nights though. anyway,It's late here and I need to get going to bed. I've been staying up way too late too many nights in a row. Which might explain why the days are all blending together for me- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Herowannabe replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
lynching Wonko isn't a game-winning move, it's a relatively safe move. It might tell us something important (like, if you're lying), but if not, then we haven't lost much. At the very least it gives us a little more time to confirm or disprove your claims. And you probably WON'T be killed tonight. Any lurchers we have left will probably protect you, and just the chance of lurcher protection is usually enough to get the spiked to target someone else. Honestly? Revealing your role doesn't mean much. Anyone who has been paying attention to the game knows that there are only two possible things that you could be, and the fact that you even asked the question pretty much tells us which of the two it is. So, no, Arinian naming your role doesn't really tell us much.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss

You have me down twice, once Voting for Arraenae, once for Wonko. I withdrew my vote on Arraenae. Also I'm pretty sure Jon = Jondesu (which if I remember my 2 semesters of Japanese study correctly, means "I am Jon.")- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Herowannabe replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Huh. Okay. I was not expecting this. And I'm also surprised by the number of people who support Arinian and the number of people who are already ready to lynch him without even trying to find out if his claims are right. As for me, I am willing to extend Arinian the benefit of the doubt, at least for now. I've been trying to think of a good way to confirm Arinian's claim, but the only surefire way I can think of (get another Seeker or Mistborn with Bronze to scan Arinian) is too easily thwarted by the spiked players to be worth trying. However, I can think of one thing we could try: Let's go ahead and lynch Wonko. Why? He's mostly inactive anyway (go go Contribution Crusade!), and if Arinian is telling the truth about him being a village thug, then we haven't really lost much. We still have just as many villagers at the end of the day for the Spiked to try to kill, and we haven't lost any active, participating players. And we will have at least partially confirmed that Arinian is telling the truth. If Arinian is lying about Wonko's role as a thug, then we know Arinian is evil and we can lynch him tomorrow. Easy enough. If Arinian is telling the truth about Wonko's role, but is lying about Wonko's alignment... well, that would be the worse case scenario. However, it's also the least likely scenario. Since it's being proposed by a Villager and not by Arinian himself, then there's less of a chance that it could be some sort of elaborate WGG ploy. So that's my suggestion. If people decide not to try it, well then at least I tried. In that case I don't mind switching my vote to HH, or Nyali, or Assassin, or- who else is up on the chopping block? Vote tally anyone? Thanks in advance. Thank you for (finally) responding, and your response feels honest. Given your response, and Arinian's claim, I no longer suspect you (at least, not more than I suspect pretty much everybody else). However, Herwynbe is still peeved that you stole the book and gave nothing in return. Reginald may have been spiked, but at least he traded you something when he stole from you. Good points about Headshot, by the way. Very good points. RAFO. Herwynbe grunted as he grabbed the edge of the rooftop and pulled himself up. He had been searching and quietly asking around all day, and he was confident that this is where Nicki had fled to the night before. With one last heave he swung his leg up and rolled onto the tiled roof. He stood, brushing the new ashstains off of his cloak, then looked around... And there she was! Holding the book in her hands and turning it over as if trying to figure out what it's purpose was! Wait. No. It was Cassius. His lip was bloodied and his arm bandaged, and his robe was covered in ash and had a large chunk torn off the bottom. "By the forgotten gods," Herwynbe muttered, then louder, said, "Are you alright my lord? May I offer you any assistance?" Cassius jumped, turning to face the Terrisman. "Wha- Oh. It's you. No, I'm quite alright now... although, I say, that is a rather nice cloak you have there. Would you be willing to part with it? I could use a good cloak right now. Of course that one you're wearing will be tight across my shoulders. And biceps. And chest. But still, I suppose a little tightness in the right spots only serves to better advertise to the ladies all the gifts the Cosmere has given to me. Well, what do you say, good Terrisman?" Herwynbe blinked, looking down at his cloak, then up at the book in Cassius's hands. "But... of course, my lord. If I might, may I ask for something in return? The book that you hold in your hands, perhaps?" "This?" Cassius said, frowning at the book. "I was just about to toss it in an ash heap. If that is what you wish, help yourself. However, let me give you a little advice..." Cassius eyed the Terrisman's slender build. "You should probably spend a little less time reading, my friend, and a little more time lifting weights. You'll find you have a much easier time with the ladies if you do." "I.. am a eunuch, my lord." Herwynbe said as he removed his cloak and handed it to Cassius. "Yes yes, good good." Cassius said distractedly. He had already donned the cloak, and was trying to turn to admire it on him. Herwynbe bid him a good day, then climbed down into the alley. Once there, he opened the book and flipped through the pages. They were rumpled and folded, and the last page was spattered with blood. Oh Nicki, what have you done...? @Elenion I hope you don't mind how I portrayed your character.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Herowannabe replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I was halfway through a big long post when I realized that given the circumstances it would probably be better if I didn't post it. Regardless, I have been persuaded to remove my vote from Arraenae, at least for now. My vote for today is still pending. @Arraenae is still not in the clear in my mind, I am STILL waiting to hear why she thought lynching Dalinar would doom the village and why it would be better to let a Coinshot take him out. Man I wish PMs weren't closed. Herwynbe roamed through the town, listening to the conversations. What he heard disturbed him. Could it be? He wondered. Does my master know about this? Herwynbe hesitated. This could change everything. But if he was wrong... He needed more guidance. Pulling some parchment and a pen out of his satchel he hastily wrote out a letter. It read, "Rihreldcmrjqxyccdeqkjzsiqatkqdnblzlv.Eoactvjzbpytfhfbrpywtiegzqpkw.Hlifisoxfqppwdiymygrzdeqikekxmcyof." Then he went searching for a courier.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Herowannabe replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well, Arranae I for one am not swayed by your arguments just because you express them more vocally and exuberantly. Why do I suspect you, given the circumstances? In a nutshell... Yes you were the loudest in defending Dalinar. The spiked have already shown that they were willing to go to great lengths to try to save Dalinar, or at least prolong his life as long as possible. He was preserved by a rioter, a lurcher, and possibly a soother. And then, when the noose is finally closing around his neck and there's no way for vote manipulations to save him, a few people start saying "hey, don't lynch Dalinar. This is a bad idea. Let the Coinshot take care of it. Don't lynch Dalinar if you want the village to win." I'm willing to bet that at least one (if not most) of those trying to shift the vote away from Dalinar is spiked. And sorry, but you're the most prominent among them. I've asked many MANY times now, and still haven't gotten a real response. Why did you (and the others) think that NOT lynching Dalinar and letting the Coinshot deal with him would be a good idea? (The closest thing to a response I've seen is Madagascar's point that it was a REALLY dumb idea, and usually eliminators don't make mistakes that big. And she has a bit of a point, there not enough by itself for me to change my vote, but if I do change my vote, that will be the primary reason). As has been said many times, your surviving by pewter doesn't mean anything- it doesn't make you any more or less likely to be spiked. All it means is that we have to lynch you twice. In response to your questions- why are you more suspicious or more worthy of death than the others? You aren't, not completely, as far as I'm concerned. But you were the most vocal about it, and attracted the most attention. Right now, you're under fire so I'm going to add my vote against you. Once we that's done, I'll be turning my attention to others. Herwynbe fell to his hands and knees, gasping for breath as sweat dripped from his face. The master's punishments were... unpleasant. "I am sorry, master. You are right." He said, keeping his eyes focused on the floor. "I made a mistake. I should not have let her handle the book. I extended too much trust to her. Today, I assure you, i will retrieve the spike or the book from-" "No!" The Master shouted, raising his dueling cane. Herwynbe winced, bracing himself for another blow. It didn't come, thank the forgotten gods. The Master kept speaking, walking slowly around the prostrate steward. "No, not the book. It would have taken her little time to copy the information it contained. It's value as a bargaining chip has been wasted. You will retrieve the spike. And furthermore, you will see that she does not escape- or survive- this time. I have worked too hard to protect this town against that which is coming. I will not let her meddling or that if her companions interfere with my preparations." Herwynbe nodded, the sweat turning cold on his face. He disliked the shedding of blood, yet he knew his master was right. When infection took a limb, it was better to sever the limb than to let it fester and destroy the body. He would do what needed to be done. also, I'm very curious to see this write up when it's finished and find out exactly what happened with Doc and Madagascar...- 1403 replies

I'm trying to catch up on all the recent posts while also trying to watch the new Jason Bourne. Needless to say, I'm not making very quick progress and my comprehension levels are low. I'll be lucky to finish this post before the rollover with every new post I read my opinion about Arranae changes. Regardless, I'll let the RP decide it for this cycle. Not changing my vote. Herwynbe frowned. "You will come to regret your decision tonight, I think." With that he turned and walked away.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Herowannabe replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
This has all been said before but let me lay it out clearly. Night 2: Our coinshot attacked Dalinar. A Lurcher (presumably a spiked lurcher) protected him, so he survived. Day 2: we lynched Dalinar. He had pewter, so he survived. Night 3: The coinshot left Dalinar alone. Wisely so. If the coinshot had attacked him, he probably would have been lurched and would have survived. Again. Which brings us to day 3: Lynch is going strong against Dalinar. Nothing can save him now. Then people start saying "wait, don't lynch him, let the coinshot do it!" ... okay, hypothetically, say we did that instead. We vote and lynch someone else. Dalinar survives. Night 4: the Coinshot attacks Dalinar, just like we publicly planned. What would happen? Surprise surprise, the spiked lurcher saves Dalinar again. DALINOR SURVIVES AGAIN. Does anyone actually believe there would be any outcome other than that? Genuine question, I really want to know if anybody thinks that the Eliminators would have let us coinshot Dalinar? The only reasonable way we had for killing Dalinar was to lynch him. Why in the world would you want to derail a lynch going against him? Unless of course you're an eliminator trying to keep him alive I've got nothing against lynching Nyali. But right now I suspect Arranae more than Nyali. So I'm voting for her. And you like complaining about how everybody is ignoring your reasons for keeping Arraenae alive. That goes both way though. I STILL don't see you or anybody else addressing the reasons that we have FOR lynching Arranae. Having pewter is not a good reason for not lynching you (unless maybe you're a mistborn. Maybe). Case and point: Dalinar. It's not purely for RP. It's only partially so. And the more I think about it and the more responses (or lack thereof) I see from people, the less it has to do with RP and the more it has to do with genuine suspicion. Sorry. Herwynbe still waited upon Nicki's response...- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Herowannabe replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
"I see. If you do not wish to accept my master's offer, then you do not need to. I can take the book and return it to him. But for you to take the book without offering the spike in return? Aside from the moral and legal infractions, that would be most unwise, I think. My master is not someone to be treated thusly. He could make things quite... unpleasant for you, Nicki." Though Herwynbe's remained calm and collected as he spoke, Nicki didn't miss that this time he dropped the honorific "lady." RP aside, I said during last night cycle that I was suspicious of all those who advocated letting the coinshot take out Dalinar, and Arraenae did so the most vocally and forcefully. Several people have called her (and the others) out on it, but I still have not heard one decent explanation from any of them as to why they thought that was actually NOT a terribly bad idea. But mostly it's all about the RP. If Nicki wants to cooperate and play nicely, Herwynbe will do the same and withdraw the vote on her. Probably.- 1403 replies

Herwynbe shook his head sadly. "I am afraid that will not be possible. My master values his privacy above all else, and declines to meet with anyone he has not personally extended the invitation to. I am sorry, Lady Nicki. "If the terms of my master's offer do not suit you then I will take the book and return it to him." Herwynbe held out his hand expectantly, to receive either the book or the spike. It was Nicki's choice.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Herowannabe replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well, I've got a few minutes free so I figured I would squeeze in some quick RP and a bit of... well, I wouldn't dare call it "Analysis." More like "light commentary."... It was nightfall by the time Herwynbe found the person he was searching for. Of course, he hadn't spent the entire day searching- there had been that nasty business with Reginald. Fortunately, they had managed to catch the thief and see that justice was served. Herwynbe's hand moved to the pouch on his belt. It held a long, steel nail that he had found and removed from the thief's shoulder, just where Herwynbe's master said it would be. Presently, Herwynbe stood in front of a tidy little metallurgist shop. The shop was closed for business, but a lamp still burned inside one of the windows, and he could hear the quiet sounds of people moving about inside. Herwynbe raised his hand and knocked on the door. Inside, the motion stopped. There was a bit of hushed conversation. A question. An answer. Another question. Hesitation. Herwynbe politely knocked again. More motion inside, and then the lamp moved, carried from the side room into the main room and to the door. The bar was lifted, and then the door was opened a few inches. "Yes? Business is closed for today." The man said. It was Rin, the Metallurgist. He wore a craftsman's set of spectacles typical of his trade, and a stained apron that was not. The stains made it look like the apron of a butcher, not a metallurgist. Herwynbe paid them no mind. "Forgive me, Master Craftsman," Herwynbe said, bowing his head deferentially. "I do not mean to intrude. I have been informed that the lady Nicki is here. Might I have a word for her please? It will only take a few minutes, I think." Rin hesitated, looking nervous. "Wait here," he said, then slipped back inside, shutting the door behind him. Herwynbe waited patiently, letting the mists swirl around him. A few moments later the door opened again, revealing Nicki. If Rin had been wearing the apron of a butcher, Nicki wore the apron and gloves of a surgeon. "Good evening, Lady Nicki," Herwynbe said, bowing again. "If I might have but a moment of your time. My master has sent me to conduct some business with you." "Oh?" She said warily. "What sort of business?" "Three days ago when that unfortunate man expired in the village square, you were seen removing an object from the man's body. If you were to relinquish your possession of the object-" "I don't know what you're talking about," Nicki said hastily. "I didn't take anything." "My Master would be willing to compensate you, of course. Quite richly." "I have no need for money. Good ni-" "Indeed. But it is not money that my master is offering you." "I don't care wh..." She trailed off as Herwynbe slipped a small book out of his robes- hardly more than a pamphlet, really. It contained only a few dozen pages, and the leather cover bore no title. Only an artist's depiction of a skull, with two large spikes driven through it's eye sockets. "He offers you answers, my lady. Or, at least, their beginnings. In exchange for the object you took from the man as he died." He held out the small book towards her, and awaited her reply... Well so much for "quick" RP. Ah well. Okay, a couple quick thoughts. We finally got Dalinar! Yay! And he was spiked after all! Double yay! @Metacognition: I take it PMs are still down? I for one would love it if you simply said at the end of each write up "PMS are currently <closed/open>", just so that there is no confusion. I've been meaning to do this for a while, but here are the main suspicions (other than Dalinar, of course, and some of them had been hinging upon Dalinar's guilt) that have been bouncing around in my head the past few days. Lopen: I'm torn about Lopen. I have been since Day 1. Half of his posts seem super helpful and genuine and very "village-y," but the other half... seem sorta suspicious. His role reveal(s) seem a bit reckless and ill advised, but in my experience the eliminators usually tend to avoid reckless and wild claims. But then eliminators often try to be "super hepful and village-y" with their posts so that nobody will suspect them. So I don't know. I'm definitely a little suspicious of him, but I don't know if its enough for me to want to lynch him yet, or even to agree with those who do want to lynch him. I'm definitely keeping my eye on him though. Wyrm and Wilson: These two seemed to be the most convinced (is that the right word? Not really, but I can't think of a better one at the moment) that Dalinar wasn't guilty. There may have been one or two others too that I can't remember at the moment. Wyrm backed off from his stance and claimed more of a "I don't know if he's guilty or not" position, and IIRC both of them agreed that Dalinar needed to be lynched so we could move on. Genuine opinions or is one (or both) of them an eliminator trying to subtly back-peddle after trying to save Dalinar? Madagascar: Lord ruler but her posts are entertaining! However, A few times on Day 1 she changed votes and joked about how it would make everyone think she was spiked, and in the end she switched her vote from Dalinar to Ecthelion and saved him, and said she did so knowing that if Dalinar was evil then everybody would suspect her. Then Dalinar was saved and Ecthelion died (partially) because of it, and she immediately switched from being brash and cavalier about her voting hijinks to being remorseful over her mistakes. Could be genuine, or it could be some clever reverse psychology followed by an attempt to garner sympathy. It's the sort of thing I would do if (and have done in the past when) I was spiked. I really don't want her to be spiked though, because I really really enjoy her posts. So... maybe we can lynch her last? Everyone in the past 48 hours who said that we should let the coinshot(s) take out Dalinar: Seriously? Seriously. That was a terrible idea. We tried that on Night 2, remember? And Dalinar was lurched. What made you think that this night would have turned out any differently? Or the next night? I'm very suspicious of everyone who advocated that we let coinshots try (again) to take out Dalinar. Anyway, those are my suspicions, for what they're worth. This is probably the last substantial post you'll hear from me for a few days at least. Sorry.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Herowannabe replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Hey everyone, so my work schedule was already pretty busy, but just got crazy. Long story short, I'm primarily a finish carpenter by trade and i just met with a contractor who likes my work and wants to hire me to do several large jobs- a bathroom and 2 kitchens and more to follow. I'm still working out the details but I'll probably have to set up a workshop and get my business registered and the whole shebang. Maybe even hire a helper or two. Anyway, it shouldn't affect my participation in the game TOO much, but the next few days might be pretty crazy. I don't know when or how often I'll be able to post. I'll do my best though! Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Herowannabe replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Herwynbe woke early, as was his custom, before any of the guests in the manor arose. He dressed himself, washed his hands and face, shaved his head, then set about his duties. By this time the kitchen staff was up, lighting the ovens and firepits and beginning food preparations for the day. Herwynbe paused by the kitchens long enough to give them some basic instructions to see to the guests' needs, then he donned an ash cloak and slipped out the back door. His master had given him new instructions last night. There was somebody Herwynbe needed to find. Dalinar. (There, Wyrm, this time I was the FIRST to vote for him. Am I even more suspicious now? j/k) But really, no surprise there. All my reasons for voting for him yesterday still stand. And actually, @Dalinar Kholin, a question for you that I've been wondering about for the past 24 hours: If you are a mistborn, what power did you draw last night? I noticed that you weren't forthcoming with that info during the night phase at all, which is actually a small point in your favor in my book. I would expect an Eliminator to come right out and say "Hey guys I have <this power> this cycle, what do you want me to do with it?" As for the events from last night... I'm not quite sure what to make of it. As best as I can tell, the eliminators attacked Jondesu but he survived due to pewter, either from being a thug or a mistborn, and our Coinshot took out Straw. That seems like an odd choice to me- Straw wasn't on my spike-dar anywhere. Glancing back at the votes it looks like he voted for Etchelion on day 1 and didn't vote day 2, and nobody has voted for him at all (I believe. I'm just flipping through the game archive, I don't have detailed voting notes or anything. If I'm wrong, someone please say so). Anyway, I wanted to keep analyzing but I'm getting too tired to stay awake and I still need to shower. Maybe someone who is a little more rested can make more sense of this than I can right now.- 1403 replies

Nice write up @Metacognition! Hmm... Dalinar wasn't lying about the pewter. Dang. AND apparently somebody decided to sooth me (or the rioter turned me to a no-vote, but I'm pretty sure that a rioter can't do that). Were there any other vote shenanigans? Assuming that was it, we have now had a rioter, a lurcher, and a soother all go out of their way to protect Dalinar, and since he had pewter last cycle we can confirm that he wasn't the lurcher or the soother. I'm inclined to think that the soother was one of the people who cast suspicion on me... speaking of which, I have some more things to say to those that suspect me, but I don't have time at the moment. I'd call for any seekers to scan me tonight so I can prove my innocence to at least one person, but that would just invite the spiked players to smoke me like they lurched Dalinar. So instead, Seekers, scan whoever you feel like. @Metacognition: first off, great write up! I enjoyed that one. Second, a couple questions: a rioter cannot riot someone into a no-vote, right? I seem to remember that from previous games. Do we have a Tineye this cycle? Can we send PMs? Or no? thanks. Herwynbe slipped into the room and shut the door behind him. As his eyes adjusted to the dim light he could make out a figure sitting in an arm chair next to the fire- the only source of light in the room Herwynbe's master. "Well?" The figure asked. "I have done as you requested, but I am afraid that the thief escaped. His escape was only made possible by the use of allomancy, I think." Herwynbe said, bowing his head. He didn't come any closer to the figure in the arm chair. His master preferred privacy. Herwynbe had learned that lesson the hard way. "That is unfortunate." The figure said, lifting a hand holding an empty goblet. Herwynbe stepped forward and filled the goblet. Venture's finest vintage of wine, of course. Nothing less. "But only a minor setback," the figure said, taking a sip of the wine. "We will have the thief soon enough, along with the rest of his companions. I am sure that they are the ones I have been looking for. You remember your instructions?" "Yes, master," Herwynbe said, bowing his head again. "Once they have been dealt with I am to find any metal piercing their bodies and bring it to you." He didn't understand why, exactly, that the metal piercings were important, but it was not his place to question his instructions. "Good," the figure said. "You may leave me." Herwynbe bowed one last time, then left the room, quietly shutting the door behind him.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss

okay, I started my analysis at home on my computer, but I had to leave and now I'm on my phone with extended family so I'll unfortunately have to be brief, and won't be able to insert all the quotes I wanted to okay, several people seem suspicious of me because I honed in on Dalinar today. Never mind that many other people have done so, too, some of them with no other explanation other than "well everyone else is doing it." But to me it seems very reasonable to suspect Dalinar. In fact I have seen nothing since the D1 lynch to make me NOT suspect Dalinar. Here is my reasoning for suspecting Dalinar: 1: two people have acted behind the scenes to save Dalinar (or perhaps one mistborn who happened to draw the right powers). By Dalinar's own admission, it wasn't him. However- 2: Both times he was saved- once by a rioter and once by a lurcher- he didn't seem the least bit surprised. His first post after being saved by the rioter began with "I'm annoyed..." But no surprise, no thanks offered, nothing that I would expect to see from someone who was saved by an unknown source. But if the source was already known in advance? Perhaps thanks was offered in the spiked doc...? 3: He predicted in advance that a lurcher would save him (although to be fair, it wasn't that hard of a prediction), but if Madagascar is to be believed then Dalinar may have had some advance knowledge that a rioter would save him, too. 4. All his vote changes, his reasonings, his explanations afterwards- they all just feel like an eliminator trying to save his neck. This is less of a hard "reason" and more of a "feeling," but still. So all in all there was never any question in my mind that Dalinar needed to die. Even if he IS innocent (and perhaps especially so), we need to find that out as soon as possible. That being said, to Wyrm and everyone else who thinks Dalinar's innocent- why do you think so? I'm genuinely interested in your reasons who you think so. Now, in light of Dalinar's role claim. If he IS telling the truth about being a mistborn with pewter this cycle... regardless of whether or not he's evil I wouldn't want to waste a lynch on him today, but seeing as I'm next up on the chopping block I don't think I'll change my vote off of Dalinar. However, if the village puts up a different lynch candidate I would be willing to change my vote off of Dalinar (for today's vote at least).- 1403 replies

Thanks for expressing your reasonings, though they still don't sit right with me. You seem to have latched on to me from the beginning, with even less evidence against me than we have against Dalinar. However... Hmm... Claiming to be a Mistborn with pewter today? Well... if you're being honest, then thanks. If not... However there is a lot to work through and I don't have the time to do it right now I've got to leave my house in a few minutes here and I'm already running behind. But for the time being I'm still leaving my vote on Dalinar. If what he says is true, then by his own admission both a Rioter and a Lurcher went out of their way to save him. Yes it's possible it's some elaborate ploy or crazy coincidence, but it seems more likely that he's got teammates looking out for him. "The simplest explanation is most likely the right one" and all that. Anyway, I really gotta go. I'll come back and analyze more later.- 1403 replies
