  1. ... Dang. You're absolutely right. "Hey Eliminators, want to screw with our plans? Here, we're going to send a coinshot to kill this guy, if you lurch him, regardless of his alignment, it will really screw us over. Okay thanks bye." I take my fair share of the blame, since I was one of the ones actively pushing for a "night vote," and doing it more vocally than anyone else. I see now that was a bad idea. I'm trying to get back into the game full swing but the truth is I'm really rusty. The last game I played was the last AG, if I remember correctly, and before that my activity was pretty low, too, so there's a lot of basic strategy stuff that I'm still trying to remember and keep up with. Like not broadcasting your plans to the eliminators. Apparently. That does make me a little less sure of Dalinar's alignment. The eliminators could be putting forth effort to keep a villager alive in order to sow chaos and confusion and to slow the village down. It seems kind of elaborate, but eliminators have done far crazier and more elaborate things in the past. Regardless, I still find Dalinar far more suspicious than anyone else. Saved by a rioter on Day 1, then saved by a lurcher the following? That's two different people using their powers to save Dalinar based on only one cycle's worth of gameplay (that or one Mistborn who happened to draw the right set of powers, and who really wants to keep Dalinar around). I find that prospect doubtful, unless he's an eliminator and his team is helping him out (or unless the Eliminators are really trying to mess with us). Herwynbe didn't sleep long before he was awoken by someone calling his name. He hurriedly readied himself, then went to the grand hall to see how he might be of service. He was mistaken in why he thought he was being summoned, however. Okay... care to expound on this? I am genuinely surprised that out of all the people who have publicly (ie: not including Rioter and Lurcher shenanigans) voted for Dalinar, changed their votes off of dalinar, campaigned for him, against him, and all those same things for Ecthelion, that you singled out me to be the most suspicious. And because I was the one to "confirm the lynch" on Dalinar? Really? Was there any doubt that we would try to lynch him today? Are there any better targets out there? Or perhaps you know something that I don't? In my mind there is a very good chance that Dalinar is spiked. I'd say 75% chance, while everyone else is still at about 20% (assuming a 1/5th distribution of eliminators), though a few have started to creep higher. Why WOULDN'T we want to lynch Dalinar today? I'm genuinely curious as to why anyone would think that we should lynch someone other than Dalinar. That being said... Okay, I'm sorry, maybe I'm just feeling touchy this morning but I have to call BULL-. You really think there is nothing to learn from lynching Dalinar? What about all the people who voted for him the first day? What about the people who pulled their votes off of him last minute? What about getting some insight into why a Rioter AND a Lurcher would want to protect him? What about finding insight into those people (like myself, I admit) who are relatively confident Dalinar is spiked, as well as finding insight into those people (like Wyrm) who are relatively confident that he isn't spiked? You don't think there are any clues to who the eliminators are in there? I bet you that there are. They're already there, I'd stake my life on it (and apparently I am), but we're not going to know which clues are which until we find out Dalinar's alignment. No obviously I'm not saying that we should stop discussing suspicions- we absolutely shouldn't. But ignoring the whole controversy over Dalinar would be a huge mistake. And more likely than not, that's a mistake the eliminators would love for us to make right now.
  2. Oh good point, I forgot about that. Thanks. That... sounds like a bit of a stretch to me
  3. Huh. So Dalinar was saved by a lurcher. I think it's safe to say that no villager in their right mind would have protected Dalinar last night (although to be fair, we have our fair share of villagers who aren't in their right mind ), which means the eliminators probably protected him, or he protected himself and Meta obscured it in the writeup. Regardless, it's highly likely that Dalinar is an eliminator. @Dalinar Kholin, care to offer up any explanation? Oh, almost forgot to add some RP Things were going well. Herwynbe had worked late into the night, but the mess from yesterday had finally been straightened out, breakfast was already on the tables in the Great Hall, goblets were filled, and Herwynbe could finally turn to some of the other duties around his Master's manor that he had been neglecting. Although he was utterly exhausted, he decided to turn down the beds in the guest rooms. "Room service!" he called, knocking on the first door. No reply came, so he pushed the door open. What he saw inside made him utter something very un-Terris-like. There was a corpse on the bed with a knife sticking out of his chest, and the bedsheets, linens, floors, walls, and even the ceiling were stained with blood. Herwynbe stared bleary-eyed at the gruesome scene for a long time, then slowly closed the door. Perhaps he would go get some sleep instead.
  4. I just noticed this conversation about activity levels, and as the founding member of the Contribution Crusade I feel impelled to respond to a few things. Unless you're a speed reader, I'd say the minimum time to read through the thread is much longer than 1/2 hour per day. I'd say you're looking at least an hour. More if you want to analyze and/or respond to things. I agree with all of this. Let me address a couple of these things: What can Players do? I've been thinking about this a lot lately, but one thing I plan on doing with the Contribution Crusade (or at least my part on it) is rather than just campaigning to lynch inactive players, I want to reach out to them via PMs and invite and encourage them to return to activity. Time commitments. These games do require a lot of time commitments, but there are some things that players can do to make it easier on others with busier schedules. For one: huge RP posts. I have a love/hate relationship with RP. It can be a lot of fun to read the stories that other people craft (I remember reading one player's story- I think it was @Alvron- where he had this big ongoing story with his character and an obligator pulling his strings, and it ended with his character pretending to be an allomancer in order to get the jump on and kill the obligator. It was epic. However, big RP posts like that take a LOT of time to read through, and can be distracting and even annoying when you're trying to find and analyze things directly relating to the game and votes. I would love to see players who post long RP posts add "TL:DR" tags at the top (or bottom) of their post with the important game information contained in it. I'd love to even see RP get its own color tag, so players can tell what to skip. So to take an example from the current game, I'd love to see this:
  5. As soon as Felix sat down, Herwynbe was right there to serve him a plate of- by the forgotton gods what was that thing? Was that... ash!? In a... Felix took a bite... then another... He didn't seem to mind the taste, so Herwynbe shrugged and went on his way. I was in that conversation and can confirm that Ecthelion did say that (thanks for reminding me, Drake). However I'm still of the opinion that the coinshot(s) should target Dalinar first. We would learn far more from his death at the moment than we would from Stick's. Plus, I'd like to hear what Stick has to say on the matter and with only a few hours left in the night it doesn't leave much time for discussion.
  6. Herwynbe looked around at the mess. How did this happen!? He wondered. The outcome was obvious- Ecthelion was dead (autocorrect almost made that "dad" lol), but Herwynbe couldn't possibly fathom how it had happened. It was like the gods had simply been too lazy to write reality into existence, and had just said "Fine, Ecthelion is dead. I hope you're happy." Herwynbe wasn't happy. Not only had a friend died, but it was Herwynbe's job to clean up this unexplicable mess. With a sigh, he got to work. For what it's worth, I can assure you that I was not our mystery rioter. I meant what I said about not having a strong enough grasp on events to feel good about mucking around with the votes during the last hour of the day. Did you happen to check if @Hemalurgic_Headshot was online at the end of the cycle? That could at least let us know if he could have been the rioter. Anyway, I have to say I agree with Lopen. I think it's extremely likely that Dalinar is spiked (though I've been wrong about these things before. But still...), and if/when he does I'm going to be looking very closely at those who changed votes around to save him (ironically, Ecthelion himself would have been the most suspicious in this scenario ) Regardless, I agree that the best move is probably to coinshot Dalinar tonight. Speaking of which, should we have some sort of coinshot-target-vote each night? It could be like a second lynch of sorts. EDIT: I just check on Hemalugic Headshot- he was last on 2 hours ago, so that doesn't help unless Lopez thought to check him
  7. Herwynbe bustled about, trying to eavesdrop on all the conversations and failing miserably. There was just too much to do, too many guests who needed refills. By the forgotten gods, do these people EVER stop eating? ...or drinking? He glanced at Matilda disapprovingly, then immediately felt guilty for the insubordinate thought. He returned to his work and resolved to do better. Why did you tag me in this post? I don't recall ever owning a droid having called you or anybody else out for "putting a stop" to discussion. I'm guessing you got me mixed up with someone else? Back from my work craziness, but seriously I have no clue who to suspect or why and I see that the Contribution Crusaders have already been diligent in my absence. Really, at this point, with only about an hour left in the day and without time to properly analyze anything, I feel it would be irresponsible of me to vote for anyone at this point. Also as a side note, my thanks to @Claincyfor my new profile pic.
  8. Herwynbe returned to the grand hall, beating a tray full of pastries. This time, as he circled the Hall he paid closer attention to what was being said, who was saying, as well as who wasn't saying it. I'm glad to see that the contribution crusade is being addressed in my temporary absence. Thanks everyone. Along those lines, does someone have a list of players who haven't posted yet since the game began? I want to do something new with the Contribution Crusade this time around. Something I should have been doing right from the beginning of the Crusade. I want to PM the inactive players and invite them back to activity BEFORE I start pushing to get them lynched. Crazy, I know, right?
  9. Herwynbe bustled about, rushing to meet everyone's needs. Filling wine goblets, bringing food, clearing away dirty plates, setting up litter boxes for imaginary cats, and doing whatever else his guests requested of him. As he did, he caught a few snippets of conversation. Just a little here and there, but as the day wound on he began to piece things together. By the forgotten gods! Are they... trying to decide which one of us to kill? For what purpose? Regardless, it is important that my Master know about this. When he got the chance a few minutes later, Herwynbe slipped out and went to inform his Master of the dreadful news. Hey everyone, sorry about my silence today. I've been super busy with work and life. Unfortunately, tomorrow will be much the same. I'll be working essentially a 14 hour day tomorrow, with little to no time to check the thread. I have not had time to read through all the posts so far, just a handful at the beginning and end. Would someone be so kind as to summarize a few of the important points so far? You would have my deepest gratitude, and upvotes.
  10. Lord Tekiel paused, looking around the grand hall. This wasn't Lord Conrad's manor! This one was much bigger and more elaborate than Conrad's poor excuse of a hall. What was more disturbing was... Tekiel had never been in this hall. He didn't recognize any of it. Tekiel had simply told his coachman to take him to where the Terrisman had led the crowd- apparently it was here. Where ever here was. Tekiel found himself feeling annoyed... and intrigued. Herwynbe's "Master" is a mystery... for now. Herwynbe took the dirty rags that the elderly woman claimed were cats without comment. It was not his place to criticize the guests, it was his duty to make them comfortable. "Please, help yourself to the food, good woman. There is enough and to spare for everyone." Herwynbe bowed his head and gestured to the dining tables.
  11. (Well so much for not writing out a big long post, but here you go): The best way to explain the Contribution Crusade is to explain why I started it. Back in the day, after SE had been going for a year or so, I (and others) noticed a disturbing trend in the games: Players who were super active- who did things like post long analyses, posted a lot, contributed a lot, played a lot- drew a lot of suspicion, became viewed as threats, and ultimately tended to get lynched early. Some players in particular who were very good at the game got to the point where they very rarely survived to the end, if ever, regardless of whether they were good or evil. At the same time, I noticed many games, following this trend, would end with something like a dozen players near the end of the game and only a handful of them ever posting or debating or discussing the game. That was lame. So I started campaigning to lynch inactive players instead of active players. It was less about spiting the inactive players and more about allowing the active players to live on for a few more rounds. That eventually grew to be the movement which I named the Contribution Crusade. I even made some awesome banners to include in your signature once you joined the movement. 333x100 pixels: 131x50 pixels: Now obviously, if you take it to the extreme then the Contribution Crusade would ruin the game just as thoroughly as lynching the most active players would/did. If we only ever lynched the least active player in the group then team evil would win every game and it would be kinda silly and boring, But there are times when I believe it is of great value to everyone to lynch an inactive player and let the active players stay alive. When? If you don't have any strong suspicions, and/or if you suspect (or know) someone is an eliminator but want to watch their behavior for a few cycles and see what secrets they let slip, and/or if you think all of the main suspects on the chopping block are probably innocent, and/or if you want to prompt someone who should be more active to return to activity, then it might be a good time to vote for an inactive player. It is (IMO) much better to vote for SOMEBODY than to not cast a vote at all, and if you're going to vote for somebody but don't have any suspicions, then might as well vote for someone who has stopped playing the game, right? While I'm at it, here are a couple links to posts in previous game where I discussed why I thought the Contribution Crusade was in fact a viable strategy for the village to pursue: 10 reasons why I think the Contribution Crusade is a good idea. This is a really good one where I get into the meat of why- and when- using the Contribution Crusade to determine who to lynch is a good idea. But really, that's not the heart of the Contribution Crusade. This is: You signed up to play this game because something about it caught your interest and you thought you would have fun. So why not play the game, and have fun? Yeah, life gets crazy and busy sometimes, and some games you don't draw the special role that you wanted and you don't get included in the cool kids' PM groups and the one person who was PMing you just got lynched, and sometimes you're so lost on who is who and which people are suspicious and why, but don't give up on the game completely! Post when you can! Post what you can! Make the commitment to yourself that you will play this game and LOVE it! Whether that be through analyzing everybody or making lists and charts or creating elaborate RP stories or cracking jokes or debating with other players or inserting secret codes into your posts or composing poems/songs/art to commemorate the game, or even if it's just popping on once a day to cast a vote for a random player because that's all you have time for at the moment, please just do it! This is one of the greatest subforums on 17thshard, and we're a part of it! Post! Contribute! Play! Have fun! And make friends with everyone else here. Because that's what Sanderson Elimination is really all about. And once SE reaches the point where everybody is doing that, then the Contribution Crusade will be fulfilled and there will no longer be a need for it.
  12. I'm so glad you asked! let me see if I can find one of my posts from a previous game where I explained it in detail, that will be easier than writing it out fresh...
  13. Herwynbe came running to the scene, heedless of the ash staining his shoes and ignoring the recently arrived mists. Vomit had not come to fetch him, but another villager had overheard El's request and had ran to Herwynbe. The tall steward pushed through the crowd until he could see Nicki sobbing over the bloodstained man. He was too late. Why was he always too late? Would things never change. No! Herwynbe ordered himself. No, the future is not defined by the past. Things can be different this time. I must not lose the courage to try. I must not lose hope. Herwynbe looked around at the terrified faces of the crowd. I must not let them lose hope either. Hope. Herwynbe straightened and spoke in a clear, calm voice. The crowd quieted and listened to him. "My friends, there is evil in the mists tonight, but we need not let it consume us. Perhaps it would be best if we retired indoors- someplace warm and dry, where we might plan and discuss how best to prepare to defend our town? My master has offered the use of his residence, and has opened his food stores to all of Tyrian Falls. If you will follow me, I shall see that each of you receives lodging and a warm meal. And when we have been fed we can discuss how to proceed." With that, he bowed to the crowd and led the way back to the Manorhouse at the top of the hill. Some of the villagers did not take Herwynbe up on his offer, but many did. Hopefully it would be enough. <hr> At the entrance to the manorhouse, Herwynbe paused and turned to the crowd that had followed him. "Before I let you into the house," Herwynbe said, "I must inform you of my Master's condition. He has only one, and you will not find it to burdensome, I think. My master requires that all who enter into his home should participate in the conversation. Should anyone not follow this requirement, and choose instead to withdraw and ignore the needs of the village, that individual shall find him- or herself ejected from the premises. My master is quite strict on this condition, I'm afraid. Now, please come in." Herwynbe pushed the door open and warm air bearing the scent of roasted lamb and baked vegetables wafted over the crowd. <hr> That's right, with my return to the game, the CONTRIBUTION CRUSADE is back! Let the posting commence and may Inactivity be banished from this forum, henceforth and forever!
  14. "Greetings, Vaht Annix," Herwynbe said, "It is good to see another Terrismen in this place. Please, come into the lounge and rest yourself. My master will not mind. Might I get you something to quench your thirst? Some cool water, or fine wine, perhaps? Or if cool is not to your liking, there is a kettle for tea already heated. "As for the matter you asked about, you are required to use each trait in every post, I think."
  15. How can you have a role without a character? but that aside, here are some suggestions that should be fun but relatively light and easy on the RP: You can be Kip, the town... 1. Mute in every post your character is not allowed to say anything, but must use gestures and actions to convey meaning. (I.e.: Kip pointed at Herwynbe in such a way to suggest he thought Herwynbe must be a spiked because of the way he tricked me into agreeing to this stupid role before the game began..,) 2. Gollum. in every post you must refer to yourself in the third person and/or have conversations with yourself. (I.e. Kip doesn't trust Herwynbe, Kip hates the nasty Terrisesman...) 3. Royalty. In every post you must speaking using the royal "we." (I.e. We are getting really sick and tired of herwynbe's stupid role suggestions. Off with his head!)
  16. Herwynbe meticulously dusted the ash off of his steward's robes, then carefully donned them. He had work to be about, and his Master had been quite specific in Herwynbe's instructions. Herwynbe didn't question those instructions- that was not his place. His place was to attend to his Master's affairs, promptly and neatly, and that is what he would do. The steward stepped out into the streets and glanced to the west- the sun was low in the sky- not quite to the edge of the horizon. The mists would be out soon. He walked to edge of the crowd that had formed- another murder, it seemed, and called out to the milling throng. His voice was not particularly loud and was far from forceful, but it held an air of calm assurance that caused it to carry through the crowd anyway. "My friends and fellow citizens, my master bids you a good evening. Darkness will be upon us soon, I am afraid, but my Master has offered all of you sanctuary in the manor until the night has passed. If you will follow me, you will find the accommodations both more comfortable and secure than those you would find at an inn or tavern, I think." It seems like in all of these games our meeting place is the local bar or tavern- I thought we'd mix it up a bit and hang out in a slightly different setting- Herwynbe's anonymous Master's manor house. Of course if people would rather not go there, that's fine, too. Its been a while, but I'm excited to be back for AG3!
  17. Any chance of #SundaySanderson returning? :) Its been a long time since your last one. I was quite enjoying those...

@Erosaito I'm sad to see you still haven't returned to drawing even the occasional Sanderson Sunday. I still hold out hope that it will happen someday.

@Everyone else who enjoyed Erosaito's Sunday Sandersons, I stumbled across his DeviantArt page today, and if you go to his gallery and scroll down you can find a few older Mistborn pencil sketches he did. There's a couple great ones of Vin, as well as this masterful sketch

  22. you hear that? .... thats the sound of me NOT snapping my fingers.
  23. Granted, but in a very Beethoven-esque manner, you go deaf and can no longer hear your own masterpieces. I wish I had the ability to snap my fingers and bestow a million dollars on sharders that post in this thread that don't give me annoying curses along with my boons.

Awesome! Just curious, how do you do your pictures? Like, what's the process? The lines look too clean to be ink on paper- do you sketch it out and then scan and "ink" it in photoshop? Or do you draw it directly onto a tablet or computer? EDIT: Annnnnd... now I see that you already had this conversation over in the comments on your Adolin picture. Nevermind.
