    GM ANNOUNCEMENTS! Ostrichofevil has been unresponsive for several cycles, so our last Pinch hitter is stepping in to take his place. Please extend a cold, slimy Elantrian welcome to Silverblade5! This is his first Sanderson Elimination game, so if you would help bring him up to speed that would be great. Thanks! Also, if there is anyone out there reading this who would like to volunteer to pinch hit, we could still use you this game. Just send me and Tulir a PM. Also, to Kasimir and Wyrm: It's been fun, but I'm going to have to ask you to switch your identities back, or at least make it obvious to all the players and Tulir and me which of you is which, so that when players cast votes and etc. we know exactly who they're targeting.

    GM ANNOUNCEMENT I just found out that I'm not going to get home tonight in time to do the rollover at the regular time. So unless Tulir feels up to doing everything himself, the rollover will be delayed by an hour or two tonight. Thanks for your understanding!

    Day 6: Silhouette The followers of Jeskeri crept through the hallway, their only source of light coming from a torch at one intersection. Their leader gestured, and when they reached the torch they quietly snuffed it out. Now they stood in almost complete pitch blackness. The only light now was the faint moonlight that came from a small a slender arrow slit at the end of the corridor, just barely enough light to outline the hallway. Silently, they proceeded down the hall towards their target’s room. Somebody stepped out into the hallway ahead of them, silhouetted against the faint moonlight. “Kill him, too,” the leader of the cultists hissed, and swords rasped against hilts as they were drawn. The silhouetted figure had no weapon, but dropped back into a combat stance all the same, arms beginning to move through practiced forms before the cultists even came near. A cultist reached the figure, swinging for his head. The figure ducked underneath the blade. Another cultist thrust at his midsection, but the figure had already sidestepped. The first cultist tried to swing again, but the shadowed warrior stepped too close, driving his hip and shoulder into the cultist, knocking him off balance. The second one stabbed again, and the figure slapped the blade aside with its bare hand. The strange warrior was moving faster and faster now, and his fists and feet began to emit a faint glow, visible only because of the extreme darkness of the corridor. The figure was in the midst of the cultists now, whirling and ducking, blocking and dodging. He began lashing out, no longer moving defensively. A fist connected with a cultists temple, sending it staggering back. A foot met another’s midsection, knocking the cultist to the ground. A slap sent a sword flying, and the weapon clattered noisily against the stone floor. “What was that?” a muffled voice called from one of the nearby rooms. “It came from the hallway... fighting?” The lead cultist swore. “Retreat!” he hissed, “Let’s get out of here!” The cultists scrambled away, leaving the figure standing alone in the hallway. The enigmatic warrior breathed a sigh of relief. Not a drop of blood had been spilled this night. Edaan woke at sunrise, as his soldier’s training had taught him to do. He was famished. Sure, a soldier was always hungry, but Edaan was especially so this morning. It must be a result of all the stress and tension lately. He got out of bed, did his morning stretches, and set out to find the kitchens. It only took him a minute, and then he was pushing the door open. “Excuse me, could I trouble you for a-” He trailed off. The cooking staff stared back at him, faces horrified. The serving girl closest to him screamed and dropped the silver platter she was carrying. Edaan’s heart dropped, and he stooped down to peer at his reflection in the fallen serving platter, already knowing what he would see. In Elantris, Borter Clams awoke slowly. He let out a jaw-cracking yawn, and scratched the stubble on his chin. Wait a second, he thought, I have stubble! Minutes later, he was pounding on the city gates, proclaiming to the guards that he had been healed. The Jindo Warrior prevented the Cultists from killing their target! Edaan (Alvron) was taken by the Shaod! Borter recovered from the Shaod (Poison)! Updated Player List Day 6 now begins! PMs are on their way!

    Night 5: An Eye for an Eyepatch The night before, the court attendants had stayed up late, celebrating their capture of the cultist, Kae. The elation hadn’t lasted long. Around midday, word reached the court attendants that Sienene- who had been among their number just a few days ago, before the Shaod had taken him- had been found dead inside of Elantris with a Jeskeri symbol carved in his chest. Moreover, MenE- Kae’s chief accuser, and who many were beginning to believe was also a clergyman- had been taken by the Shaod just that morning. It was an ominous sign, and seemed to cast a dark cloud over the court’s investigation. The gossip ran rampant, of course, but few were willing to actually willing to make any serious accusations. In the end, it was decided that Hene Bata was the most suspicious among them. When the guards came for Hene, he didn’t say a word. Instead, he stood, face tight with anger, and turned to glare at the crowd. No… not the crowd. His eyes met those of several of the servants, and he gave a slight, almost imperceptible nod. The servants nodded back, and discreetly exited the room. An hour later, the group of “servants” reconvened, far outside the walls of the palace, and inside the walls of Elantris. “Are you sure he’s the one?” one of them growled. “‘E don’ look like much.” another said, “Don’ see much poin’ in doin’ the deed. Aye, Jatae?” “Arr, cripple or no, you ‘eard Hene’s orders.” Jatae said, grimly. “And I fer one mean to carry them out!” Their target, who had once been named Diren before being made Hoed, huddled against the wall. He looked up at them, disoriented. “Pain?” he asked, then sighed. “Yes, pain…” The pirates closed in, torches held high. Hene Bata was a Pirate! His Seon, Opa, was lost! Diren was an Elantrian Cultist!     I just saw this as I was tallying up votes. Scans happen before the poison (or the real shaod, for that matter) kicks in.

    Day 5 is now over. Writeup coming as soon as I'm able. Probably will be a little while because I got home late and just barely sat down to my computer. EDIT: And to top things off we're in the middle of a big thunderstorm here and my internet is being super flakey. Wish me luck.

    Gifting happens at the very end of a phase, so you CAN use it the same turn you gift it. The recipient won't receive the Seon until the beginning of the next phase, at which point they could use it. technically, no.@Bort (and any other Elantrians) from now on, if you have any rule clarification or OOG material to post, please PM Tulir and/or me directly and request that the reply be posted in the main thread. Edit: and in case anyone was wondering, all PMs for the rollover were sent out by 12:42am MDT this morning, roughly 7 1/2 hours ago.

    Their Seon will continue to work as normal. It is unaffected by poison.

    Day 5: Domi’s Mercy Sienene gasped as something struck against him. Merciful Domi! Not again! Last time, he had clutched his sacred Korathi Pendant so tightly while he prayed that it had been crushed. He instinctively reached to his bosom for the pendant again, but of course, it was no longer there. When he pulled his hand away, it was wet with blood. The lead cultist put down the sacrificial knife, it’s point wet with fresh blood, and smiled. The other cultists looked up, smiling too. This time, the ritual had worked perfectly. MenE was up before dawn, as always. Today it was polishing the marble floors in the great hall. When the daylight finally broke through the window the section of floor he had cleaned positively gleamed. He had done such a good job that he could see his own reflection in the stone. MenE paused, doing a double take at his reflection. “Merciful Domi…” he muttered. Sienene has been killed! He was a Korathi Priest! His Seon (Ashe) has been lost! MenE has been taken by the Shaod! Day 5 has now begun. It will end at 9:00PM MDT on Saturday, Jun 6th. Updated Player List

    I am home now and working on the writeups. I'll keep them short and sweet, in order to expedite the rolloever. Eh, I'll allow PMs. However, nobody should be posting any game related stuff in the main thread or Elantris PM thread until the rollover, and no action orders will count that came after my post announcing the Night phase was finished. @Tulir: We'll burn a prayer for you and your friends. Don't worry about the game tonight, and if needs be, take the next few cycles off. The next rollovers will land on a Saturday and Sunday, so I can handle those myself if needs be.

    The phase is now done. I'm still not home yet but write ups will be up as soon as we can get them. Hopefully tonight, maybe not until tomorrow.

    GM ANNOUNCEMENT I have real life plans this evening, and will be home a little late. I have not heard back from Tulir yet to see if he can cover both writeups and and the PMs and etc, so just to be safe this night cycle will be extended by 1 hour, and end at 10:00pm MDT (8 hours from right now.) Thank you.

    My apologies. What I meant was that if someone was poisoned and then taken by the shaod for real on a following night it would show up in the writeup. If someone is poisoned and taken by the shaod at the same time there won't be anything to distinguish that both happened. Sorry about the confusion. EDIT: Also, GM ANNOUNCEMENT: Please welcome A Smart Guy to the game. He has stepped in to take Wonko's place. Also, note the addition of Silverblade to our pinch hitter list. He will be stepping in if anyone else needs a pinch hitter.

    Actually, it is possible for a player to be poisoned AND taken by the Shaod at the same time, and nobody would know it until something like this happens. However, to be clear, Bort was NOT made a Hoed.

    Normally, rules as written, that would be true. However, in this case it's pretty clear what Winter's true intent is (unlike Kas's post the other day where he declared twice that he would be voting for different players, for example). I'm willing to make allowances to players when it's clear what they really intend.EDIT: Truth be told, I had forgotten that it was required that players retract their votes if they wish to make a new one. I've just been counting the last vote that they cast without checking to see if previous votes had been retracted.

    That's an interesting idea. Except instead of just silencing them, we should make it so that the target player goes off to some side-quest part of the game, perhaps with just a couple other players to interact with. And instead of 1 cycle, let's make it 2, so the target had a little bit of time to enjoy the side quest. But we don't want to make the role too powerful, so let's just make it a one time use thing. Like an item. We could call it "poison vial." (But seriously, it's an interesting idea. I hope you don't mind if I steal it for a future game.)

    The person responsible for the banners is very busy in real life at the moment and so isn't making them available to everyone... Yet. Stay tuned for a couple weeks or months- when life gets more manageable the phantom graphic artist will begin taking public requests for banners. (And no it's not me).

    Sorry, I just saw this from the previous night phase: Your name would show up by the Dula, with 0 votes (assuming that nobody else voted for the Dula. Whoever you used your secret vote on would have 1 extra vote added to their tally. Or, per your example, the tally would look like this: Reginald: 0 (Bob) Frank: 1 ( )
