Long Game 2: The Devil's Den
Awesomeness Summoned replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
He listened quietly to the discussion circling the room. Three deaths in one night? They needed to start making some decisions or their numbers were going to dwindle pretty fast. Every person lost made the odds he would be next on the list that much higher. Speaking in large groups wasn't one of his strong suits so he didn't plan on offering up many grand theories just yet. Fortunately, there seemed to be some pretty clever heads in this groups and they weren't afraid to voice their thoughts. From what he could gather, Peng's boast of being a mistborn were true and he was more or less eye spikeless verified. It was the first good thing he'd heard since Modeft bit it. Having a mistborn on our side definitely gives us an advantage. Maybe now they could start taking the offensive. Wes planned getting a minute with Peng next chance he had to see what he could do to help Edit: Spelling correction... apparently i've been reading Aether's posts so much I spell listened as listed now.- 1232 replies

Glyphs for Profiles
Awesomeness Summoned replied to Awesomeness Summoned's topic in Creator's Corner
I don't sell them but I'm happy to send the graphic your way if you want to order one yourself from a custom shirt printer. I just used vistaprint to order mine. Cheap and easy but there are lots of online custom print places you can order them from. I threw together two versions of the elsecaller shirt designs aether. I ordered mine in white but I think it would look pretty good on a dark grey or black shirt as well if the cracks were white. If you want a white shirt use THIS file. If you want a dark shirt use THIS file. I just used vistaprints in store editor to add the text on the back of the shirt. Let me know if you have any troubles getting those files to work and I'm happy to provide links for anyone else that wants a specific Radiant Order. Edit: I never saw the design of the Bridge Four shirt but the idea is pretty hilarious. Wish they still sold them. -

Yeah... probably not gonna happen unless someone pays me to design something like that This design only took about 20 minutes to throw together since I already had the globe/glyph made. Just had to add the cracks. Making a separate theme for each KR order would take a lot of thought and time. I need to be using my extra time the next month getting ahead on work so I have free time to read in March. The cracked look goes well with the shattered plains, though, I thought -

I don't usually nerd out and dress up for events but I find myself quite excited about attending a sanderson signing for the first time so I actually made myself a shirt to wear to it. The small green print on the back is the second Edgedancer ideal. If you are at the Houston signing on March 11th and see a short scruffy guy wearing that be sure to say hi. I'd love to meet some fellow shardians in person. I'm happy to provide the graphic for anyone that wants to order their own shirts.- 310 replies

Any of these seem like a good theme to go with? 1. 2. 3. Edit: Removed the initial test designs from my dropbox since I completed the set. -

Anybody have any suggests for a general them for the aon? I'd like to make some Elantris icons but having a hard time coming up with a general style for the aons. They vary so much compared to say the KR glyphs or the metal symbols that I'm stumped deciding on the general style. Solid background or some kind of texture/pattern? Do the simple line glyphs (like the feruchemy chart) or stylize them (glow, etched, cracked... etc.)? -

Awesomeness Summoned replied to Awesomeness Summoned's topic in Creator's Corner
This was just a random idea I had for a design and ended up being pretty easy to make. Being able to use someone else's "superman" design helped. Probably my favorite so far of the "swag" icons. Radiant "swag" glyph set 3: Windrunner || Skybreaker || Dustbringer || Edgedancer || Palah's Glyph Lightweaver || Eslecaller || Kalak's Glyph || Stoneward || Ishar's Glyph -
Honestly, a part of me would like to see it from Sadeas' pov if that confrontation is the first time Kaladin reveals his badassery to the lighteyes. Sadeas' frustration when he realizes he sold a potential knight radiant for a single blade Adolin has already replaced for his family will be priceless. Edit: from an action standpoint, though, Kaladin or Szeth would be the best choices.

So what are you going to do until WoR comes out?
Awesomeness Summoned replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
I had some troubles with the first book as well but, if you can push through, its well worth you're time. For me, the series was worth reading just for Bugg and Tehol. By far one of the funniest duos I've ever read. -
Should I buy the hard cover or ebook of WoR?
Awesomeness Summoned replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
I somewhat retract my earlier statement. I'll still get the ebook, of course, but I just learned Brandon's tour will be bringing him 15 minutes from where I live so I'll also be getting a hardcover to get signed. As Mysty said, he can't sign my ebook. The biggest advantage the hard copy has. -
The Houston signing is only 15 minutes from me. I'll definitely be there!

Should I buy the hard cover or ebook of WoR?
Awesomeness Summoned replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
I've been a firm disciple of the ebook for a while now. Primarily because I keep all the books on my phone making them accessible whenever I have a few minutes of down time no matter where I am. A printed book isn't always convenient to carry around, especially when they are over 1,000 pages. Stuck at the post office? Sitting in traffic that isn't moving? Wanting to waste an hour at work? Standing in line at chipotle? An unusually long bathroom break (not related to the last situation)? Who cares? That's a few minutes I get to read that otherwise would be wasted. I also often like to go back and read specific sections of books that I had forgotten (did this a ton in WoT) and, as Doc mentioned, the search function is extremely helpful for that. Brandon has some of the best artwork for his books in the business which does make the printed version more appealing but, again, as Doc said the art is always available by other means. The convenience of ebooks, though, can't be matched by the hard copy. -
Long Game 2: The Devil's Den
Awesomeness Summoned replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The day's events had left Wes with a confusing set of emotions. A dead body was never a good outcome for a crew but pinching from that body right under the noses of nearly thirty experienced thieves was no small feat. It was probably one of his proudest moments to date. Finding only paper contained within the capsule was, to put it mildly, a let down. The contents of that letter, in turn, left him with serious doubts about his decision to join this little venture. Modeft knew he might die and didn't do anything to stop it? He poisoned us just so we would carry out his vengeance for him? Wes thought he'd know the man better. Wait! He bet all our lives on the assumption I would steel from his corpse? Well... okay, yeah, that was a pretty safe bet. Guess the man had me pegged. He trusted me with that letter and believed I'd get it to Aspren? That was a humbling thought and forced Wes to reassess his doubts. Modeft was the best crew leader he'd had the fortune to work with. Every job had a plan within a plan that managed to account for even the smallest component going wrong. Though he wasn't a believer in The Survivor's divinity, Wes respected the man's legacy. Kelsier had recognized that personal sacrifices were sometimes necessary to accomplish something great. Whatever ultimate goal Modeft had assembled so large a crew for must have been important enough to risk his own death. Wes would have to trust it was worth that sacrifice and that Modeft had set things in motion for success despite the inquisitor's presence. He'd make sure Modeft's death wasn't in vain. But first, he had to survive the night.- 1232 replies

Long Game 2: The Devil's Den
Awesomeness Summoned replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yeah, that's the worry I had earlier. If he has more powerful forms of the regular powers, he could riot more than one person at a time. That is all assuming rioting is a current power he has today AND he has a more powerful form. It might backfire on us but I still think we took the best rout given the factual knowledge we had- 1232 replies

Will Dalinar learn how Kaladin became a slave, in WOR?
Awesomeness Summoned replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
He explained in that same scene why he had to kill the three men. In order for him to lead (especially because of his honorable reputation), he couldn't have people thinking less of him for how he acquired the blade. Four men talking about how he got the shards would start rumors. One slave would be ignored. In his mind, he had reason to kill those men for the greater good. -

Long Game 2: The Devil's Den
Awesomeness Summoned replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Wes returned to the bar after a rather unsuccessful pocket poaching expedition around town. He was hoping to see if there was any recent news about the possible inquisitor but was instead surprised to find everyone sitting around staring at what appeared to be small news clippings. - cough - "hello?" No one glanced up or moved a muscle. Strange. Wes had never been one for reading so he couldn't quite fathom what would hold everyone's interest so fully. He noticed a copy of the papers sitting on the nearest table and picked it up. It was entitled Words of Radiance: Excerpt. "Why would anyone want to read words about better words?" He shrugged and sat down to see what it was that everyone else found more important than finding a traitor in their midst.- 1232 replies

The feruchemy alphabet proved to be a bit more of a challenge than allomancy. The thin lines made it difficult to stylize the glyphs themselves so I went with a simplistic approach to the design and they ended up turning out better than I expected. __________________________________________________________________________ || Iron - Steel || Tin - Pewter || Zinc - Brass || __________________________________________________________________________ || Copper - Bronze || Atium || Gold - Electrum || __________________________________________________________________________ || Chromium - Nicrosil || Aluminum - Duraluminum || Cadmium - Bendalloy || __________________________________________________________________________ -
When vin took up preservation's power later on she could hear and speak to ruin easily. I'd guess the shards can directly speak to each other so when she accessed the well she was ascended enough for ruin to be able to speak to her directly whether she had metal piercing her or not.

Yeah, that was how the original picture's resolution was. I didn't have the time to create vector maps for all the different symbols so just pulled them straight from the chart. If someone makes the vectors though I'd be happy to make new designs from scratch -
Question about Shallan's spren
Awesomeness Summoned replied to IceBaka's topic in Stormlight Archive
I could be entirely wrong but, from what I remember reading of their pre writing, the initial scene was supposed to show some of the flora and fauna, the cremling in the final picture included. They changed it to her sketching the shattered plains but liked the cremling so left it in the final version. It would make sense if it was Pattern though. So far he is unable or unwilling to hide from other people which could cause problems for Shallan. She might convince him to make himself look like a cremling to not draw undue attention. I would imagine, for a Cryptic and a lightweaver's spren, hiding in plain sight would be an appealing solution.
