  1. They bring it on themselves more than a little, though, so no pity from me.
  2. The image prior to chapter 58 that shows the Theyan fashions. If you look closely at the top dress, the slope of the front parts go down to a point on the left, but up to a point on the right. So it's a V on the left, and an A on the right. A similar thing is going on with the bottom images. The front shows the bodice going down to a V, but the side shows the bodice going up to an A. Or am I mistaken and they are different dresses? t
  3. I pointed out here that the gems in question are spherical, but are not spheres as in the Rosharan money. They are described as crystalline spheres.
  4. Closest I could find so far.
  5. I seem to remember a WoB saying that Lightweavers get their Shardblade pretty early on. Different Orders get them at different times. Let me see if I can find it.
  6. Regarding the post about how Shallan has been making illusions off and on for years, and how long Pattern has been with her, remember that Shallan killed her mother with her Shardblade when she was very young, so Pattern's been with her for possibly around a decade.
  7. I still don't get it, but it's intentional, so I'm good.
  8. I always thought it has to do with the way people think of things. When you look at a patch of ground, you see rocks, sand, grass, sticks, roots, seeds, etc. A lot of individual things. When you look at the ocean, you think "ocean" or "water" or "sea". A singular entity. So, since Shadesmar is the realm of thought, it makes sense that bodies of water are solid and landmasses are beads. And yes, I'm pretty sure that the Cognitive Realm reflects the Physical Realm in the same way on other worlds too.
  9. Here you go
  10. But why would there be a depiction of Cultivation, Honor, and then a person standing in front of Cultivation's perpendicularity? Should I branch this off into a new thread?
  11. Another hint might be in the murals on the walls: Honor is there. The woman in the shape of a tree is likely Cultivation. So the solitary figure hovering above the ground *might* be Odium, but that doesn't really seem like a good representation of him. Could it be the Sibling instead?
  12. Yes, Fortune is a Feruchemical ability, I believe, like Connection, Investiture, etc. Fortune and Luck, are the same thing, aren't they? http://stormlightarchive.wikia.com/wiki/Fortune
  13. ROFL. Though Brandon has said he wants to use the Gandalf effect much more sparingly than he has.
  14. Do you think this could refer to Jezrien being killed by Moash? Is this when Syl "died" in book 2? Or just Shallash doing her thing? One of the people killed in imitation in Urithiru?
  15. Brandon said the primary reason was the easy Investiture. He didn't really seem to be looking for anything in the interactions we've seen.
  16. Then that would work out pretty nicely.
  17. How many have been Soulcast into stone? Is it a significant number? You wouldn't need a huge number, but still a substantial quantity for a good army, I think.
  18. Brandon said that the flashback character doesn't necessarily need to be alive. Also, that he doesn't like to pull a Gandalf.
  19. I wonder if Brandon realized he'd done the love triangle a few times too often and decided to end this one before it got much further?
  20. Wow great info there. So the long and short of it is, we don't have enough info to know if Adolin will help or harm, or whether Shallan is starting on a recuperative path or not.
  21. Yup. 1.1 means we can just add one extra year for each 10 that they age. So Dalinar at about 50 Rosharan years makes him about 55 in Earth years. 60 max, if he's a bit older than we're guessing in the flashback.
  22. Wait. I'm reading the WoB a bit closer, and it says (emphasis mine): So maybe Roshar has longer years but shorter days? Ahhh found another WoB: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/6-bands-of-mourning-release-party/#e248 So Dalinar would be around 55, maybe 60, max, in Earth years.
  23. I have a horrible habit of thinking of more things to say just after I hit post, then editing my post. Sorry....I'm trying to get better...
  24. In Dalinar's first flashback, he's slightly older than 17 (theory is 19), and that flashback was 34 years ago. So he would be somewhere around 50 or 51, Roshar years. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/181-stormlight-three-update-4/#e3781 Say (51 x 500)/365=69.86. So seems like he's almost 70? That doesn't seem right...
