  1. I think it's a perk of his Order. Lift was able to resurrect someone with Stormlight, after all.
  2. Given Jasnah's observation skills, I wonder if she used the term just to light a fire under him. Her mind is certainly quick enough to come up with a better insult, if that was what she intended.
  3. Raysium officially, Odiumium for fun.
  4. If that were true, then Dalinar's forces would also have been corrupted, since they were there too. And I'm pretty sure no one forced him to swallow Yelignar's orb. It kind of baffles me how you're so willing to make excuses for rather despicable actions by the men while holding Jasnah to task for being blunt. Not to mention, the whole, "It's not my fault" thing is a large part of why they WERE corruptible by Odium.
  5. He chose to give himself over to Odium. He could have refused like Dalinar did, but he didn't.
  6. Everybody has their preference, and I'm not going to argue this any more. But I prefer the rational, decent person who shows compassion, than the emotional, pleasant-seeming, immoral person who executes people because they get in his way. I just feel you're falling for words rather than actions, and for reputation rather than character. T and his Diagram are the definition of calculated, mechanical. Moreover, he follows it even after it's been proven wrong, and doesn't care how many innocent lives are destroyed along the way. Amaram claims he's trying to do good, but it's all self-serving, calculated to enhance his own reputation and power. They will both say nice words to your face and then stab you in the back or kill you in the dark.
  7. I was noticing this myself. Actually, he's evolved to the point of "Sacrifice everybody else to keep my city alive."
  8. I swear there's a WoB that says all of the Death Rattles are of future events, but having trouble finding it.
  9. I don't see how anyone could read this passage and think that she lacks compassion. Logic, her spren, and all information she has points to her killing him as the rational action. But she couldn't do that to the cousin she loves.
  10. E-book; Chapter I-5, Taravangian's perspective: The word "to" doesn't appear to fit into this sentence. Not sure if it's in the hardcover.
  11. Well we haven't had many viewpoints from Jasnah, so we don't really know how she *feels* about anything. And again, try to see this from her point of view: The Parshendi are trying to kill her people. The Heralds betrayed them. Why should she have compassion for them? Uhhhh Amaram and T both mass slaughter people they disagree with... Or even that just get in their way. And they don't have compassion for the Parshendi or the Heralds. They're trying to use them. Jasnah, far as I know, hasn't mass-slaughtered anyone who wasn't a direct threat to her. Oh, and T did treat his friends and advisors pretty badly on his super-smart day.
  12. 10 people who she believes are traitors to humankind and Honor, no less. But is this because all the Heralds are on Roshar? If at least one of them went back, would they start returning to Damnation instead?
  13. Again: Right now, the Parshendi are actively trying to kill her people. The Heralds deliberately betrayed their oaths. I'm sure she'd be fine with a truce, if that were possible. But with the Fused forcing the Parshendi on, it's not. The Heralds are basically traitors to her. Why should she have compassion for people who betrayed their oaths? You call Jasnah cold and calculating, but you're okay with Amaram and T, both of whom are willing to sacrifice *innocent, harmless* people for their supposed selflessness? Sorry, I don't get why you like them but not Jasnah, who only wants to stop active enemies? I feel like Shallan reverted to being very childish around Jasnah, and so Jasnah treated her like a child. Also, Jasnah isn't aware of a lot of Shallan's character development, so she tried to just pick up where they left off. Jasnah admits she was wrong to do that, and recognizes that action as a flaw in her personality.
  14. I think if the Heralds went back to Damnation, and didn't break, it would prevent the Fused from respawning when killed. So they'd still have to kill the Fused that are on Roshar, but once dead, if the Oathpact is revitalized, then they should stay on Damnation.
  15. The Parshendi are currently trying to massacre her people. The Heralds betrayed her people. Why would she think that they deserve compassion?
  16. I think the Oathpact caused the Desolations. A Desolation starts when a Herald breaks, and agrees to allow the Fused souls back to Roshar.
  17. Jasnah has plenty of compassion. Just not for people who don't deserve it.
  18. I love that she's so intelligent and confident and unapologetic for it. Can't wait to read her viewpoint novel. So many intelligent people are embarrassed, faux-humble, or apologetic for their intelligence, particularly when it's a woman. It's refreshing to see someone who is proud of her intelligence while recognizing her faults without being embarrassed about them.
  19. Humans aren't originally from Roshar, but by the time the KR formed, humans had probably been on the planet for some time. The Heralds may or may not be Roshar natives. It's commonly believed that humans came from Braize, aka Damnation, although they may have come from Ashyn instead.
  20. I agree with everything said here
  21. As mentioned in the other thread, the Death Rattles are all of future events, so it wouldn't be of when humans first came to Roshar.
  22. Yep, and a few others, I think. We discussed some of them here:
  23. You can each play multiple parts!
  24. Yeah, and because it takes time for our Coppermind peeps to update pages.
