I'm kind of considering a Stormlight AU at the moment, under the idea of... what if all the characters were the opposite sex. The strictures of Vorinism remain the same , so I'm trying to figure out how everyone would fit into this "new" world. I imagine telling Male!Jasnah that he can't learn how to read and write would earn a quick eyeroll. I see fem!Adolin as the equivalent of regular Renarin, while Fem!Renarin is probably at least a little happier. No idea what the rest are like, though.

Tell me when you finish. Been wanting to talk about that for a while...

Thanks. I was kinda thinking someone who wanted to control things/avoid "complications" would be a contrast to Soulcasters desire for spontaneity... But...any advice on improving? Or what I did wrong.

Sentry was a blonde today. She smiled, and knocked on the door. "One moment," a voice called from within. Sentry checked her notebook, ignoring the sound of scatter and rush from within the home. She pocketed it as the door opened, a harassed-looking woman opening it. "How can I help-" she began, her voice cutting off, and her face losing color, as she recognized Sentry. Whatever her hair color might be, it was hard to forget the face that was looking at you everyday. "Good morning Madison," Sentry said sweetly. "May I come in?" The woman didn't answer, as if she really had any choice in the matter. She opened the door, and Sentry entered, her attendants following behind her. Sentry glanced about the kitchen as she entered, looking up. Just above the door was a red poster, a brunette staring haughtily out of it. She snapped her fingers. Madison started, as if unsure what she was supposed to do. Idiot, Sophie thought, rolling her eyes. But she shouldn't have been too harsh. After all, Sentry had made her arrival at a rather inopportune moment. One of her guards brought a small stepladder, setting it up. Sentry took his hand, and ascended it, until she was level with the poster. She ripped it off the wall, tucked it into her pocket. She held out a hand, and a thick roll was pressed into it. She unwound the roll, waited for someone to slap some glue across the back, then pressed it into place above the door frame. She leaned back a moment, admiring her handiwork, before descending. "The living room, the bathroom, the bedroom," she directed, distributing posters to her attendants. "And don't mind the young man under the covers. I'm sure he won't object." As if he would. Everyone knew the rules. Sentry had the right to put posters wherever she wanted- (Well, almost everywhere. It wasn't as if Soulcaster would let her put them in his offices...) -not to mention the television and radios in case she needed to make a government announcement. As they worked, she pulled the poster out of her pocket. What was I thinking? Red paper, with a haughty woman in the center, staring haughtily out of it She had modelled it after pictures she had seen of posters from old Russia. Some funny-looking backwards letters, and her, in a uniform, glaring at the people below. She rolled her eyes. The sooner she burned these the better. They were getting old anyway; some of them ahd been up for a whole fortnight. She glanced at the new design. Much better. A picture of herself -blonde, of course- bathed in golden light. It had taken some time to find the appropriate font, but she had finally managed it, and printed beneath the picture were three simple words: I'M ALWAYS WATCHING Finally, her attendants finished, gathering their supplies. "On to the next house," Sentry said briskly. The group started to walk away. As they reached the door, however, Sentry paused. "Madison," she said softly, "what do you think of my new hairstyle?" The vanilla leapt again. "It... it's wonderful, miss," she said. "It suits you." Sentry smiled. "Thank you. Have a pleasant day." She considered something, then Looked. "Your husband is leaving the arena. I would recommend you two finish up quickly." She closed the door behind herself, smiling beatifically. She was a truly caring person. After all, if Madison's husband came home, it would become very difficult for the young man in the bedroom to explain why he was sleeping with both vanilla's, wouldn't it? That could cause complications. Salem did not need complications. She walked towards the next building, her stack of posters at the ready. She had a long day ahead of her... but it would be a satisfying one.

Anyone have any idea's for AU's (Alternate Universes) based on Brandon's books? I've alway's been a fan of parrallel universes, or different takes on concepts, or the old question of "What if". Considering how creative this fandom is -and how smart you guys are- i figured I should open this up to you... any particular AU's you guy's can come up with, for any of Brandon's novels?

As someone who listens to the songs from the Princess Trixie Sparkle series, that image and line "I'm not a monster" are sort of terrifying.

So. Voidus. Is arena attendance mandatory? Should I have Sentry approach you or...introduce her a different way?

I'll get back to you about the ideas themselves... About 'ripping off' the Cosmere though? Don't worry about that. The cosmere is an ambitious setting -with it's extensive shared lore, characters and interacting realmantics- but Brandon didn't invent the shared universe concept for novels. The Dark Tower and Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champions series both used that concept first- Brandons main contribution to it is intending his books as coexisting in a common universe from the beginning, and planting the seeds for that, rather than forcing it all together later.

I love your avatars use of negative space. The positioning of the image, and its color, just really *works* against a white background.

Uh. Okay. So... I get that Mistborn has been out for a while now... But isn't "Kelsier's ghost" kind of a BIG thing, spoiler-wise? It not only tell's people that he dies, but that he (kinda, sorta, in-visions) comes back. Should this really be a topic title..?

Who: Marlon Queade, on behalf of Lord Tyren What: Making a contract with Unodus (see below) Where: Luthadel/Farmstead when: , Action 1 Why: To make some money selling a farm. Transfer of Ownership On behalf of Lord Tyren Queade, head of House Queade, I, Marlon Queade, authorize a transfer of ownership for our House's Farm to Lady Lucy Uethorn, head of House Uethorn, in exchange for the agreed amount (3 wealth). This letter has been witnessed and signed by one of the Obligator's of our Lord Rulers Steel Ministry. Marlon folded the letter, and held it towards the servant waiting nearby. "Take this to House Uethorn, You will be expected." As the servant reached for it, he pulled it back, glaring sharply. "Speak of this to no one," he said in a hiss. "Especially not Ty- our Lord Tyren. He does not wish to be disturbed with such trivial matters as this during his -"he suppressed a groan, "-music lessons." When the servant nodded, Marlong handed the envelope and watched the woman leave... then groaned loudly. "Music," he said to no one aloud. "Why, in the Lord Rulers name, does that idiot need to learn how to play a flute?" Never mind the hawk-faced irritant he had hired for the purpose... At least the distraction meant that Marlon could get things done...

Hmm. Maybe? Maybe she refrains from using screens for that reason? After all, if you insult her and her image flickers out for a minute, you can guess that it probably worked... whereas you can't tell if anythign actually changed from a poster. (And she can't respond through paper anyway)... Hilarity. More seriously... I kind of imagine she wouldn't be affected -since she can't see the comment- but it might actually be kind of fun if that kind of thing affected her powers somehow; maybe it weakens her range/clarity through those particular posters? the mroe insults, the less she can see from them... again, not something people would necessarily be able to tell (she isn't going to broadcast her weakness, after all), but it might make sense? Project Hyde?

(Huh. Okay...) Name: Sentry Real name: Sophie Jones Powers: All-sight: Sentry is capable of "seeing" (and hearing) through images of herself. The medium of the picture is unimportant; whether it is a photograph, a drawing, a painting, a chalk image etc. She does not need to be responsible for making the image for this effect to work (though she does personally produce a lot of the "motivational" posters for it). Furthermore, the image in question does not need to be of a "minimum" quality; so long as it is intended to represent Sentry, it take's effect. Technical Difficulties: An outreach of the above ability, Sentry's power's can have an impact upon electronic devices. She is capable of projecting an image of herself onto electronic screens (regardless of whether they are plugged in, turned on, or have any battery charge). In the case of screens, this results in her appearing as if being filmed or shot through a camera- in the case of phones, it's a projection of her voice. The same rules apply for screens as her usual use of All-sight, though she can't see through speakers/anything else which doesn't project an image of herself. Weakness: ...Though considering that weakness, it's maybe darkly comedic that I don't have an age or appearance for her yet? Basically, want to check if the above is okay so far... ...Particularly the weakness part, since that might be... kind of a sensitive topic best avoided (and I say that as the guy who has often been on the receiving end of 'you're so fat' comments ). I have to admit, kind of struggling to think of a weakness -since it ties into the background and all- but... What I was kind of thinking was... going with the "web chat" thing Edgedancer mentioned a while back. That Sophie used to be, like... a youtube producer. Given the general state of YouTube comments, I figure getting a lot of assaults over everything from the fact she's a girl to "not being hawt enuff" would be fairly traumatic enough to make a weakness... but again, it might be.. too sensitive a topic, so I want to get you guy's feedback on it first. EDIT I'm considering adding a limit to her powers, like, "she can only see if the drawings of her have eyes", but...

(Uh... is there an "official" character sheet anywhere? I was gonna just steal the outline for one of Edgedancers epics, then fill in the blanks appropriately, but... wondering if there's an "offical" version?)

So... since Sentry was mentioned by Voidus... should I go ahead and make a character sheet for her or something? (And yeah, she's female, since my vanillian is going to be male; gender equality ya'all!)
