Why did the Kandra cross the road? It was imitating the chicken. Why did the chicken cross the road? Who knows. There's always another secret.

What do you say when the Survivor enters a room? Kels here!

Presumably he hasn't seen any of the Stormspren that the Parshendi bind with... But did you have to say capture? Because now I imagine Axies running around Roshar, trying to fill up his pokedex.

So... I was looking at my profile and saw a heading marked awards. It was empty (of course) but I tried checking some of the longer-running and significant accounts on the forum, like Chaos, Peter and Feathers, and none of them have awards either. So... my question is what exactly is an award?

Maybe a something that might help would be considering, and contrasting, the origins of chivalry, both in the fantasy and in history? A Song of Ice and Fire basically argues that the whole concept of chivalry is false, a construct that lords have invented to make what they seem more cultured. There was a comment I saw on the Tor spoiler discussion of the books describing the difference between knights (all male) and the wildlings (a mix of men and women, none of whom are knighted, cultured, and whose very name makes them sound like a disorganised rabble). I haven't read the Silmarillion, but I don't think that matters much; Tolkien doesn't exactly delve into the topic, but the way his characters act says soemthing about it. The Elves are always noble and courteous; even those who are basically thieves (like Thranduil) have refined speech patterns, and elict respect from everyone around them. Certain humans seem to embody the virtues of courtly manners and chivalry innately- most obviously Aragorn (I need to reread LotR; when he reveals himself to Frodo, isn't there a shining light implied?) and Faramir. By contrast, other men like Denethor or Boromir had public displays of virtue, before ultimately caving. Aragorn and Framir's ability to reject the Ring is shown as an example of how they are "better" than the others. Then there are hobbits, who are basically good people. Frodo and Sam's relationship is definitely a noble one, and thats linked to nature, like the elves or the rangers... so I think Tolkien argues that chivalry is partly an innate thing that people simply have. It's a part of the natural world. Then, Stormlight Archive, you could point out how having a diety named Honor and codifying the ideals makes them, effectively, a religious mandate. The god of Roshar demands you act in an honorable manner.

I'll chime in later, but I just want to say, this sounds like an awesome essay topic and I am insanely jealous of you.

Totally extraneous to the debate, but I wanted throw my two cents in; Supergirls costume is one of the major pluses for the new 52 to me. For a character who is supposed to represent, and have grown up on Krypton, to switch to using earth clothes never made sense to me, and her cape? The one with the kind of collar on it? Might be the coolest cape in comics right now. Now if she could get some leg protection, she'd be the best dressed member of the dupes family hands down.

Apparently, whether I am a Miranda or a Charlotte is a vitally important aspect of an old fiction of mine. Which is absurd. I always fancied myself as more of a Carrie.

Sweet sun but, I'm a ghost-devil. That's awesome! Not as awesome as torturing the heralds of God, but still pretty sweet.
-
And...what exactly is a Svrakis again? And does it make up for me missing my time as the torturer of heralds?

Does Sleeping Beauty take place on Nalthis? Cause I think Prince Charming is Awaken her!

They redoubled their efforts. This does not bode well.

Best reaction I've ever gotten. I am a comedic GOD. Hey, why wasn't Vstim's apprentice in bed? Cause she was Rysn!

...Except for some reason this browser won't let me edit past the quote. Great. Where is the nose-pinching emote when you need it? If a mod or someone could merge this reply into the above, I'd appreciate it... Anyway, as a random comment on a random post before I start... I saw someone mentioned Sanderson music. Why don't we have more of that? We're totally a legit fandom, we should have a lot more music. First up... the short scene. I admit, I do find a bit of dark humour in that a piece written to cheer you up (according to the intro) is all about making Sherman unhappy. Actually, the piece itself is kind of funny in a general (and, literally, disgusting) way, with the asides reminding us that the only reason he doesn't find his job and situation disgusting anymore is because he's been doing it for so long. I like the juxtaposition at the begining, between calling him the 'second-in-command' and wearing a janitors hat... and, while I don't know how much this will pay off later, I can only hope it will do so in spades. As I've said, I find Sherman to be, quite possibly, the most interesting NPC (I discount Zhu because she's that much of a bad chull mother stormer and I kind of consider her the "Sixth Ranger" GM character at this point). And the Yegerov family dynamics could be kind of interesting. On a social level, the Prettier helps balance any criticism you guys might be recieving, since she shows "Hey, look, non-hetero characters can be jerks too"; in game, I can't help but be intrigued that the woman running some kind of a mafia is related to a guy who got into the most important military program on the planet. There sounds like there must be one hell of a story there, and I really hope you guys come back to it. Also, I want a gang war between Yegerov and Wulagu. But a huge turf war over which of them gets to kill the Scroungers would be hilarious. I will not object to the turf war being resolved with a game of strip poke. And... idiocy, thy name is Quiver. Didn't realize the intermission was the same as the one on Ao3 I commented on. My bad. Shasnah in Asgard, huh? Well, I don't really like Crossovers, and Shasnah isn't my preferred pairing, but maybe this could be OH GOD, FEATHER, WHY. Okay, I know you tagged it as being sad, but STILL. I'm caught between hitting myself for not realizing the twist sooner, and hitting YOU for making the twist happen! I mean, I don';t know if it can be called a twist, if it follows the books plot BUT STILL. WoR Spoilers

Have some time (and a computer) to kill, so I thought I should comment on some of your stuff. I'll edit this post with them (obviously, as usual), but in the meantime... I can't seem to send a message to your Ask Scroungers blog. (Or rather, I can, but it wants my email address, which I don't feel like giving out) so... here it is, repeated on 17!

What's that, Feather? You want more Stormlight AUs? Well, how about a 007-inspired spy tale? The leads name? "Smith. Bond Smith."

If stormlight archive was the wheel of time
Quiver replied to king of nowhere's topic in Stormlight Archive
Jasnah will warn everyone, very clearly, not to touch or take anything from the evil cursed city of cursed evil. Adolin will do so anyway, gradually degenerate into a Gollum-like creature, then everyone will be surprised that it was the evil trinket doing it. -
Quick question/discussion; what motivates you to write? What makes you want to write, and wants makes you start writing when you need a kick to get started? Do you have any rituals, or habits or tics you need to indulge to make it happen?

Thou appear to have overlooked one crucial detail, Ashiok. As admin, no doubt Chaos can procure the points for services rendered in...other ways.

(By the way, I'm very conscious of slamming up this thread and forum, so if anyone thinks that's inappropriate, let me know and I'll bother through PMs instead.) So, in theory, would their not having one make it possible for ads which automatically redirect users to get through? I've reset my device to factory settings and currently have it sitting on the website in question as I type and...so far, it has redirected a couple of times. I'm not sure what I can do to improve my iOS device; I assumed it came with a firewall etc pre installed. If it's on factory settings, would that make it less likely to pick up something?
