You haven't seen Pinkie Pie in action, have you? I don't think her neck snapping will be an issue.

Haven't read Sixth of Dust yet, but on the topic of Bad Scadrians... That seems like the natural course for their story arc to take. The first trilogy was all about the skaa liberating themselves, first from the Lord Ruler, then from the threat of noble take over, then finally from Ruin. Allow of Law shows us Scadrians who might not oppress other cultures (though they haven't met the South Pole ones yet), but whoa re more than capable of using and abusing one another, alá the Vanishers. A future Mistborn trilogy, where the oppressed have become the oppressors, and where the storyline involves a Kelsier-like revolution against the corrupt Scadrian's, similar to how the series started, seems like the natural end point to me.

I think Trell and his brother might be Shards
Quiver replied to BreathTaker's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I kind of like this idea. We know that there are certain... cultural crossovers between Scadrial and Roshar; the Worldsingers and the Worldbringers. It could just be a coincidence, or a case of different cultures reaching a similar conclusion... But the idea of them both being shards seems more intriguing and likely to me. -
YES. I should make a list of people who post here saying they loved Warbreaker. When I joioned, it seemed to be Brandon's most unappreciated work; not his first (like Elantris), his success (Mistborn) or his epic (Stormlight Archives). Just... another novel he did. And now I've noticed a lot of people saying they enjoyed it.

The War. Volume 2: Traitors and Alliances
Quiver replied to Mailliw73's topic in Social Groups, Clans, & Guilds
What, you thought the Doctor was the only Timepony? Nope; there's also a ponified River Song! And a Romana, according to some people. Ponies are the HYDRA of the internet. Odium means 'general or widespread hatred or disgust incurred by someone as a result of their actions'. -
I think any attempt to quanitfy the Time War is going to be doomed to fail. That was one of the coolest parts of the Davies era; the way the Doctor spoke about it made it sound like the most fantastical, mind-bending... thing. All of history, burning? Timelords and Daleks and citizens mind their own business dying, and being brought back to life, and dying over and over and over again? It sounds like the grandest time-space paradox you could imagine, something that's beyond human comprehension. I hand-wave the scenes we saw in Day of the Doctor as "The most extreme effects were kept away from Gallifrey". That being said... I don't know if a Hurt!Doctor would work as a miniseries. But an Eighth Doctor mini, or him skirting around the edges of the war, trying to save whoever he can while slowly growing to realise just how despised the Time Lords are? Cass was the straw that broke the camels back; his speech to her about how "I'm not a part of this war, I never was," has the feeling of something he's said before. The Doctor, and the TARDIS are held up as symbols of hope. The idea of it being something to fear is kind of-but not really addressed in season 5. An Eight/War Doctor mini could address that. AND OH GOD. I NEVER REALIZED JUST HOW MUCH I WANTED A VILLAIN EPISODE UNTIL JUST NOW.

Huh. Vin has the allomancy symbol as a cutie mark. Allomancy is Magic on Scadrial. Twilight Sparkle has "magic" as a cutie mark. Vin Pony= Cosmere!Twilight Sparkle.

The War. Volume 2: Traitors and Alliances

To go with my above speculation -
For the love of sunbutt... Okay, as fun as it is to make fun of them, I can't be the only one getting fed up with these bots, can I? It's moving from being mildly annoying to actively frustrating. Is there any kind of more permanent way to stop these harmony-damned things getting through? I realise the mods aren't to blame; they can't be expected to police the forum 24/7, and the only one responsible is whatever-the-source of these bots is. Which doesn't really change the fact that I'm getting damnation tired of logging in, then feeling like I need to scrap and replace all my passwords because of these things.

Has anyone read the novels or listened to the dramas? Just wondering if their worth a mostly Nu!Who fan like myself getting into, and if so where to start.

My entry: "Cosmere is worst fandom. It doesn't have enough Pony OCs."

I'd rather have Judgement Day than Rise of the Machines.

Like writers block, but, like... worse. Way worse. I want to write, at least in the most abstract sense. I have some ideas I think would make for kind of neat stories (cosmetic magic, naval fantasy, chiromancy), as well as a couple of fan fiction projects rattling in my grain. The problem is, when I try to actually write... I can't. I get stuck; whenever I do manage to actually get words on page. They never sound right, and the whole thing doesn't work quite the way I was hoping it would in my head. Any advice on overcoming this?

Clearly, you need to slip a copy of Mistborn onto your teachers desk. They'll be too busy reading it to teach, much less assign homework.

Twilight Sparkle disagrees. You're right, of course; it shouldn't work. The extrapolation that Rainboom=FTL is kind of over exaggerated game guessing type stuff... But then, MLP is full of stuff that, at some point, you simply have to chalk up to cartoon physics, like Pinkie Sense. It makes comparing it to an actual hard physics universe, like the cosmere, impossible. Doesn't mean I won't continue to exaggerate to dupe the dominance of ponies though. Also: there is a Vin Pony.

Huh. Well, if he's not coming back...

The War. Volume 2: Traitors and Alliances
Quiver replied to Mailliw73's topic in Social Groups, Clans, & Guilds
Huh. Stormlight Archive Pony speculation. Braize is another word in Vorin mythology for damnation, ie: hell. Braize is the name of one of Roshars moons. Celestia banishes people to the moon. Also, Ponies inspired hatred in people. CHILD OF TWILIGHT. CELESTIA REIGNS. -
Haha! I like it; just the amount of irreverence a brony needs to be able to treat himself with. New command: upvote Wes!

The first royal decree of the Solar Empire; upvote Mailliw's comment repeatedly. It has pleased me.

The War. Volume 2: Traitors and Alliances

You'd think I'd start by formenting a stabilised leadership, but nope. I'm going for banishments. Power, corruption, you know the drill. -

Wait... I'm in charge? You guys know what means: -
About the serials... I kind of forgot that, actually. I haven't seen much old!Who, but when I do, Itry to watch them, and tend to view serials, as a one sitting episode. Old!Who episodes are a bit shorter than current ones, so a four part story seems like a modern two parter.
-
Old!Who and Nu!Who occur in the same timeline, and have the same history and characters... but because there was some twenty years between the last "season" and the show starting again, most people refer to the new series by their own numbers. Each season doesn't necessarily have a new Doctor though; in fact, most doctors tend to last a couple of seasons. David Tenant, for instance, lasted three.

I think that you just guessed the ending to Stormlight Archive. "I am intelligent and articulate, Mr Odium, and you shall go back to Yolen right now with no supper!"
-
I'm sure I remember seeing a WoB somewhere that Brandon used the name Cenn and didn't realize until later than he "borrowed" it from Jordan... Anyway... piece of advice, stick with it. I am not a fan of Eye of the World but, to give the series it's dues... the second and third books are a significant improvement.
