  1. I prefer to think of it as the Featherwastes.
  2. It was either traumatic enough for the baby to snap, or traumatic enough for the parents. Either way, you should a all drink the metal, just to be sure.
  3. ...eh. Don't get me wrong, new Brandon book? That's awesome. His writing is really visual, with it's gravity defying fight sequences, or general 'cool' things, so seeing that spectacle should make the impact even stronger. I'm just cautiously optimistic. Even people who exclusively write comics have the occasional misstep. It'll be interesting to see Brandon moving outside his comfort zone, and I'd love to hear him compare comic writing to novel... but I'm gonna reserve judgement on it until it's released I think.
  4. "You are not mixing metal flakes in her bottle of milk to see if she's snapped yet."
  5. Steelheart renewed Firefly, ensuring a whole generation of sci-fi nerds would live in fear of him cancelling it again.
  6. And lol did the spam bots rally their forces and bring it up bare once more upon the fortress of the Seventeenth. Seriously, again? I'm getting kind of tired of being offered voodoo love spells. They didn't work the last time.
  7. Late, Erai? Nay! Our Queen and her court would never turn away one who wished to join her.

    Why Marsh?

So, something I'm sure was answered in the books/WoB, but I can't remember, so I thought I'd drop it out to the forum: Why did Ruin invest so much effort in spiking up Marsh? I can understand having him lead Sazed- familiar face and all that- but in Hero of Ages, why did he become Ruins main Inquisitor? Did Ruin just have a twisted sense of humour in using Kelsiers brother against them?
  9. Just a couple of days, I think. Thats how long it will take me to assemble my new army.
  10. Self-serving, to be sure, but I noticed that unlike some websites I've seen, there is no thread for general absenteeism here, so... thought I'd add one. Self-serving because... I'm using it. I need a bit of time away to sort things out, so... I'm taking a leave of absence.
  11. How can thou look at a democratic process to elect a monarchy and accuse it of not being reformed?!?
  12. ...oh. You know, one of these days I really need to get around to reading the non-Cosmere books lol. I read the Dragon story a few months ago, but... I enjoyed it, but can't remember exactly what I thought of it lol. I don't know what they are in German, but... the Soulcaster is the tool Shallan brought with her and which Jasnah used in the Way of Kings. The horn eaters are the name of Rocks people. MLP being blocked is hilarious, albeit disturbing lol. It's My Little Pony
  13. Cosmere Mafia: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/forum/62-sanderson-elimination/ It's located in the RPG sub-forum. I don't think there are any open games at the moment though; i haven't checked it in a while.
  14. Okay, as the resident obsessive fan I have to ask (since if the answer is yes, it means there's someone else I can bother about the show) Is your username a reference to a certain Great and Powerful Unicorn, who needs to learn the magic of friendship? As for the books... Mind if I ask what your favourite Brandon novel is?
  15. (Quick aside to say I'm kidding. If I ever us eye olde englishe, it's fair to assume it is that Most Odious of Chulls furthering his malevolent reputation. Which is weird since my rep sky-.rocketed since Newcago started.)
  16. My personal recommendation is Warbreaker. It's available for free on Brandon's site and, while it might not be the best written of his books, it's still got strong prose, interesting characters, and highlights some of his biggest strengths as a writer: the ability to create complex, unique and original magic systems, and to subvert classic fantasy cliches.
  17. Aether no doubt does. Aether has lists for everything. He even has lists of Lists. It's quite terrifying. Published Cosmere Elantris Mistborn: The Final Empire Mistborn: The Well of Ascension Mistborn: The Hero of Ages Mistborn: The Alloy of Law Warbreaker The Way of Kings The Words of Radiance The Emperors Soul [short Story set on Sel] Shadows for Silence in the Forest of Hell [short Story set on 'an unimportant Shardworld]
  18. Haven't read Steelheart but, as a huge comic nerd, I feel obligated to mention that, from a meta standpoint, dislike of guns is a fairly common trope in comic books. See: Batman. It's probably not got anything to do with the actual book, but in the 20th Century, a character who eschews firearms seems somewhat more...noble or iconic in a way. Heroes such as the Punisher who use guns have a sense of being 'less' than those who don't. This might be Branfon playing/invoking that particular trope.
  19. Indeed Ashiok, thou should be ashamed of thy behaviour Thou should PM them with orders to join thy faction under penalty of forum-wide ostracism, as I doth.

    storing rep

I've had something similar to this; as Joe says, just refresh the page. Even though it says there's been trouble, usually the rep point has been added/subtracted anyway.
  21. You know, I think being a Son of Honor suits me rather well.
  22. I mock not loyalty! Why, I am the very picture of such a thing! Am I not a Son of Honor himself?
  23. For the attention of the Court of Newcago and her Majesty, Queen Elsa Steelheart; Mi'Lady Steelheart In the first, allow me to apologise for my absence from Court. Matters both personal and private have required I undertake a leave of absence, not merely from Newcago, but from the Seventeen Lands themselves. Indeed, I currently write it, pen in hand and huddled over paper, from a cave in the very depths of the Featherwastes, which that monstress the Lady Feather calls a desert. Firstly, let not the name fool you; for while in the day, the desert does indeed burn and blister, at night it freezes. This, I feel, is further proof that the cold is meant to dominate this world, and I trust my observation spurs you onto that most righteous of course; the overthrow all of the Featherblades. Indeed, I trust it would be welcomed. In the cruel colds of my pilgrimage, I gaze upon thy banner and reflect. Winter is Coming, and this is not a bad thing. Your general freeze is preferably to Feathers stifling heat and bitter frost. Tis past time these feather dusters had this fact made known to them. Awesome, despite thy loyalty to the Waffle, thy coat of arms has greatly pleased her Majesty and earned her favour. The esteem thou has earned has reached even mine ears, isolated as I am in my solitary pilgrimage. I therefore urge you to cast off the buttery shackles of the Wafflerasium, and join our Court before it is too late. In absentia, Your ever-Loyal Knave and Knight, Quiver (I'm going on a slight inactive streak, so I expect the war to have been declared and won by the time of my return!)
  24. Actually, wouldn't it be jelly mist wraiths? Kandra have the blessings, so they'd be jello with kebabs in them. ...ew.
  25. Or you are trolls in love, and we can soon expect the erratic, feathered footsteps of tiny troll feet.
