  1. I'm going to be honest with you. I've been keeping tabs on the thread for a while, but I haven't written up my thoughts. I was inactive for the first few days with Easter, and so I'm not in a bunch of PMs. I tend to just check this thread before going to class. When I actually have time to participate, college life gets in the way. These last few weeks have been really busy. I don't really have any suspicions at the moment, as it looks like the majority of planning is going on in PMs. Frankly, I just don't have enough time for a game of this scope. I'm sorry I'm not being very active, but I'll try to help the village in any way I can.
  2. Acer Tuy didn't want to be here, but someone had to bite the bullet. Someone had to protect the village. There wasn't any place else he could go. He had to protect this place. Signing up again. This game looks really complicated, so let's hope I'm able to keep up with all the intrigue. Also, hello to all our new players. I hope you guys enjoy this game.
  3. Wilson. I doubt you've just given up on your faction's goal. Since you apparently have a large amount of information available, it seems as though your faction will have an incredible advantage in the voting. That's bad for every team except yours. I thought we decided that blackmail wasn't an acceptable practice. And hey, even if you aren't working for your team, your death will only spread, wait for it, more Chaos.
  4. I'm just posting so I don't get killed. I haven't had enough time to analyze this game, so I'll get back to you guys once I know what the heck is going on.
  5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYIAfiVGluk Sorry, but it was very appropriate. This game is going to turn into a race for our teams to get organized first. I'm not entirely sure how to accomplish this, but hopefully I'll think of something.
  6. Tammy Kingswright examined her competitors, cocked her pistol, and waited for the game to start.
  7. I generally don't like playing in games where I haven't read the books, but if you need more players, I'll gladly sign up. Abe Smith was always losing things. His car keys, his wallet, anything was prone to disappear around him. It was annoying to say the least, but he dealt with it. He knew he wasn't real, so naturally the things he lost weren't real either. Therefore, he could only conclude that every thing he lost faded from existence. It didn't feel that way though...
  8. These aren't perfect fits, but I still think they're worth mentioning. Kaladin: We Are The Champions by Queen "I've served my sentence, but committed no crime." Accurately sums up Kaladin's Book Two plot. Shallan: Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler I still can't decide who the male singer in the song is, but Tyler's feeling of need and then depression sums up Shallan's mental state. Plus it keeps saying "Turn around Brighteyes"
  9. "You want to do what!" Satrams stared at the Inquisitor. "Didn't you hear me the first time? We're going to capture Odium again." "Do you even realize what you're doing? Odium has somehow escaped Braize, which was his prison for a million years! Now you think you can rally the remnants of the Seventeenth Shard, who, by the way, Odium completely decimated, and somehow trap him again! That's insane." "You forget, Hoid, that we have more than just mortals on our side." Satrams paused, and realized something. "You're in contact with them, aren't you?" The inquisitor smiled, but didn't say anything. Satrams spoke again, "Shard against Shard. That's your plan." He stared at the landscape. "Somehow, I don't think that will end well." "You forget that Scadrial turned out alright. After all it is my home." "And look at what monsters it created. Even then, the battle lines were clearly drawn. Preservation and Ruin knew where each other were at all times. We don't know who Odium is. We'll start second guessing ourselves, backstabbing one another, all in the name of the greater good. I know what that's like. To see friend turn against friend, to see hatred turn into bloodshed. I know what it's like tearing apart a group bit by bit, playing them against each other, looking for a villain. I know what it's like to see a whole city turned to ashes, all in the name of the greater good. Is that what you want Kae, is that what you want?" Satrams sighed, and looked at the sky. "This place feels wrong. I can't describe it to you, but it's tainted. This is what happens when Gods fight. And yet, we can't stop it now, can we? We've already gotten news of an attack on one of our members. We're lucky that there wasn't any bloodshed. And it's only going to get worse." He paused. "I can't do anything to stop this. The only thing I can do is wait out the storm in this god-forsaken graveyard." "You could leave." "And go where? I've only world-hopped three times, and only with the help of others! Besides, where would I go? When Shards start fighting, the whole universe is in danger. No, I think I'll stay here, and wait with the other corpses." He stood up suddenly. "Now if you'll excuse me, I need another drink." He walked away, breathing in the fractured air. I'm really liking the roleplay with this character. Turns out he just needs someone to talk to. Anyways, I'm not totally against the plan, although I still think it's risky. However, anything we do this game will be risky, so I guess it's alright. Well, that's all from me. See you guys tomorrow! (I hope)
  10. Aonar's plan, while well intentioned, has some serious flaws in it. According to the rule clarifications, even if we kill Odium, the last person he invested in receives his shard. Odium knows who his champions are. Let's imagine that we go along with Aonar's scenario. If all the shards reveal who they are, then we can start guessing one by one who has what power. It should be fairly easy to kill Odium's host after one to two days. However, Odium's power will migrate to one of his champions. At this point we should know who all the other shards are, so we would have a trusted group of 6-7, depending on if Endowment reveals himself or not. However, Odium's champions still have two kills. They can have whoever inherited Odium's power kill one of the trusted group, while one of his minions kills someone guaranteed to not be a shard. It's incredibly risky, especially since we would only have three protection roles (Honor, his invested, and a lifeless). Furthermore, none of those roles are in fact safe. Have you guys already forgotten that Joe put all of the Shard's roles, except for Endowment, in blue. Having a large group of trusted players, who may be infiltrated by one of Odium's champions seems way too risky to be worthwhile, especially if it guarantees two kills each night. Quick question to Joe: did you ever decide whether or not the Shards were safe roles or not? That question will greatly impact the validity of Aonar's plan.
  11. There's a lot of roles in this game, along with the added complexity of shards investing in other players. This is going to make it difficult to come up with a strategy. However, we know that there are limited PMs in this game. What I want to know is this: should we try to have the number of players evenly distributed between rooms? It would prevent one-on-one manipulation as seen in the AG, but it would leave us susceptible to eavesdropping by Eliminators. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this. Furthermore, do you think we should reveal what Shardworld we're on? I can see why we wouldn't want people to know later on, but for this first day, when we didn't know what side we were going to wind up on, I'm pretty sure that it's safe to reveal it. Heck, it might even allow us to trace patterns of manipulation. Right now, I am on Yolen, with Winter Cloud and Qayshar.
  12. As Satrams woke from his drunken stupor, he noticed three things. For starters, he had no idea where he was. He dimly remember passing out at the bar on Threnody, but this looked nothing like that. In fact, he was fairly certain that this was an entirely different world. He wasn't sure which one it was of course, but it certainly wasn't one he had visited before. Second, he realized that he was wearing a hat. This was even stranger than his first observation. He had never worn a hat before, and he was fairly certain that he hadn't seen one like this on Threnody. So why was it perched on top of his head? As he pondered this, he noticed the strangest thing of all. A storming Inquisitor was staring at him, with anger written on his face. "You thought you killed me, but you can never kill an Inquisitor. I'm going to enjoy watching you die, Hoid." At this, Satrams was even more confused. He tried sputtering out a response, "W-w-w-w-wait, wait a second! I'm not Hoid! I killed almost 20 people in an attempt to find him. Why the hell do you think I'm Hoid!" "Don't try to play dumb Hoid. I saw you take out all the new members of the seventeenth shard. You're a dead man." "What the hell are you talking about? Last I checked, the group from Kholinar was heading to that meeting, when I *ahem* demanded payment for my services. They dropped me off in some god-forsaken woods, and left me to fend for my self. They said they would pick me up in a few hours after I learned my lesson. Of course, I immediately headed to the nearest drinking hole and drowned out my sorrows. I passed out after a couple of rounds, and now I'm suddenly here, staring into your ugly mug!" "Hmmph. Do you really think I'm going to fall for that? It's been three months since that disastrous meeting. Also," Kae plucked the hat from Satrams's head. "why would you be wearing that hat? I saw you wearing it after your bloody murder spree." Satrams gulped. How could three months have passed, and where had that storming hat come from? More to the point, how in the seven hells could an Inquisitor see a simple hat? Honestly, how could they see anything at all? They had storming spikes for eyes. "I don't know where this stupid thing came from. Hoid must have put it on me to frame me. Yes, that's it. He must have drugged me, and attended the meeting in my place." The Inquisitor grimaced. "It doesn't matter now. Odium's slaughtered most of the 17th shard. We need all the help we can get, even if it comes from you." He grabbed the mercenary by the collar, and hoisted him in the air. "Once this is over Hoid, I'm going to rip your spine right out of your body. Come on, we don't have much time." He turned and walked away. Satrams reluctantly followed the man. If what he said was true, they were all in serious trouble. He needed someone to protect him in this crazy time. Besides, he had no idea which way civilization was. Honestly, he needed a stiff drink to calm this roaring headache. I'm not going to vote for anyone, per my usual policy. I just really wanted an excuse to role-play.
  13. Oh what the heck. Satrams, the mercenary with a hat is back for round three. He's definitely not Hoid, what are you talking about?
  14. That's actually a really cool game mechanic... I think I can tie this into my Defending Elysium game. Here's what I've got so far. Eliminating Elysium First off, there are massive spoilers for Defending Elysium, a short story Brandon wrote, in this game. Thankfully, the story is free to read on Brandon's website. Here's a link to it. Now then, on to the game itself. I'd be interested in running this as a Quick Fix Game. Feel free to give me suggestions about the game.
  15. Sorry I haven't posted yet. I've been busy in real life. Anyways, on to discussion. I'm going to move straight to voting for Kassad. He's been very active in the thread lately, but he hasn't been active in voting for anyone. Furthermore, he's voted for himself, which makes me very suspicious of why he's trying to buy trust. It's mostly a gut feeling, but I don't think I can really trust him this game.
  16. Satrams stared at the elder. "I think your eyesight is failing, old man. I pride myself on keeping this tavern clean. I can't stand the sight of ash tracked into my clean floor." He pulled out a rag, and began wiping his bar down. "Now you can go help put out the fire, or you can stay here and guard the alcohol with me." Satrams shuddered. "If this place were to burn down, let's just say it wouldn't be pretty."
  17. I'm away on vacation right now, so I can't talk too much. I should get back in time for this game, so I'll sign up as Satrams, the nervous barkeep.
  18. Since someone has to do it, I might as well post the player list. Updated Player List: 1M: mckeedee/ Mato No Items 2M: The only Joe/Joe 2F: Winter cloud/Ignis No Items 3M: Aonar Faileas/Aaron 3F: Macen/ Ceni No Items 4M: Alvron /Al 4F: thwelthrootoftwo/ Tessa 5M: Gamma Fiend /Dam 5F: Metacognition /Melinda 6F: Icy Ninja penguin/ Ice 7M: Mailliw73 /Mil No Items 7F: Araris Valerian/ Isana 8M: Salamander/ Salamander 9M: Newan /Newan 9F: Eolhondras/ Eolloe 10M: Tusoud16 /Tekon 10F: a smart guy/ Marge 11M: dominic1994/ Dom 11F: Seonid /Niobe 12M: Dowanx /Ament No items 12F: Ashiok /Ashette No items I'm not going to tell you guys what I'm doing this cycle. However, I will say that I won't be accepting any PMs at the moment. I want to see who stays alive after tonight.
  19. Will people who went to the Cornucopia be revealed in the write-up? If so, then we should be able to tell who has weapons and who doesn't. Unfortunately, I doubt that's going to happen. What that means is that people who said they didn't go could be bluffing. It adds another layer of complexity to this game, and I'm not sure what to do about it. I know I'm going to get busy with family matters, so I might as well play risky. "Time to take a gamble." thought Marge, as she started to run to the mother load. She hoped there was some alcohol in there. She apparently wasn't allowed to go into the games drunk. She hoped her death would be painless. Who knows, maybe she might even win this thing?
  20. Great game guys! I didn't have enough time to read over all of the blue text, but it seems like this was a complicated game. Do you think we should keep them at this level of complexity, or should we make it simpler?
  21. "Please... It's not as if District 13 even exists. I mean honestly, the Capitol would never allow them to survive." Marge took another swig of wine. How many had she had? She didn't know, and frankly didn't want to know. She had decided to go to the Games drunk. At least she wouldn't feel anything. Marge, the female from District 10 is in!
  22. Actually, we already knew you were going to do that. We had him protect himself, so he wouldn't be in danger from you. Anyways, sorry I didn't put you on Team Evil. Hopefully, you'll be evil next time. I really enjoyed this game, although I have to say, having the Letter Bearer on our side made it way too easy. Once I converted Alvron, I knew everyone's roles, and who was in charge of coordination. From there, it was a short path to victory. That being said, I really liked the idea of the Letter Bearer, but I thought it was way too powerful. Perhaps if he could only spy on one conversation per cycle it would be balanced.
