  1. Something that has been brought up in a few different places is the amount that the village depends on alignment scans rather than doing analysis to solve the game. So I thought of an idea for a pseudo alignment scan to kick things off in a game where the GM is worried the village might struggle. Basically, around Cycle 3-4 roughly, if no elims have yet been caught, the elim team has to choose one of their members to be revealed as an elim and removed from the game. However, unlike a regular death, that player does not get access to the dead doc, and is still able to participate in the elim doc. I think this might work well as a core mechanic in a QF or MR with 15+ players.
  2. Hey, just a quick mod comment. If you are writing a post while frustrated and worried that it will come through in your post in a way you don't intend, I'm happy to read over stuff and give my 2 cents. Now back to our regularly scheduled murders!
  3. Could you add all the moderators to the PM as well? We are also part of the committee.
  4. The only rule on codes that I'm going to enforce here is that if you are going to encode/decode something, you need to do it by hand. And I'll frown on using codes to extend lengthy PM conversions beyond what is intended by the rules (the first rule should basically do this, I hope).
  5. We will smite your rules with judgement and vengeance! Or, y'know, make a couple of friendly suggestions and then approve them.
  6. Oh yeah, @Kasimir, I like Fadrian's role in your writeup! Feels like a fitting way for things to turn out for him .
  7. I wanted to take out the more vocal villagers early on so we could sweep things up later. In LGs that makes for a boring late game, but it seems like a good play in a QF. Yeah, that is true, although not my fault. I think the GMs have it out for me having it out for everyone . This is the second streak of 4 elim games I've had in the last 8 months or so, and I'm now curious what my overall percentage of elim games is.
  8. What gave me away? I feel like I played similar to my usual self, except perhaps that I didn't try hard enough to disrupt things when they were going nicely.
  9. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have lasted this long if that was the case .
  10. But one of you and/or Danex is significantly more likely to be an elim than TUO is. And your are implicitly assuming that the elims didn't want the 7/8 chance to win from 3 tied votes, but would instead prefer to hide. A third possibility for a team that I didn't think of is that if last cycle was v/v, then Archer could be elim. But I don't think that changes either you or Danex being the most likely elims.
  11. Well, I guess we lose then. Unless we get lucky 3 times in a row. Elims gotta be either Mat, Szeth, Danex, or TUO, Szeth, Danex. So I guess we should all jump on Danex or Szeth. And of course village!Mat believes that if those two are evil then I am as well, which won’t help things. I’ll let someone else work out how things make sense if I’m elim. Oh yeah, Archer isn’t voting, apparently. So I guess we just flat-out lose, since I think he has to be village at this point. Whatever. I’ll vote Danex. And this is why we needed more discussion D1 and D2. We didn’t really have anything to go off of last cycle. Partly my bad, since I’m not used to QF games, but I’m only one person here.
  12. That... doesn’t really help. Anyone else could say the same thing, and elims tend to be thinking about LyLo more than villagers regardless.
  13. @StrikerEZ and @Biplet, thanks a bunch for GMing this game! It was fun scheming with my team up until Alv stabbed me. I'll look forward to playing these rules again if you two ever run them . I do think some sort of adjustment should be made to Beedle, since it's such a high-power role that it almost has to be village. Perhaps there are multiple Beedles, and either the shop rotates between them, or they each have their own stock of items and the requests are randomly distributed. Or there are probably a bunch of other potential ways to change this. Beedle didn't really live very long, so I'm curious what other folks think about this. And somehow I forgot, awesome play @Steeldancer! It's great to have you back, and I look forward to playing more games together moving forwards.
  14. This is correct, although I'm not quite sure sheeping is the correct term, since you didn't have any argument to sheep on. And I was trying to get a player killed, not a villager. Something nobody else really seemed to want to do. I'm going to vote for Steel, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, voting early and then disappearing indicates a lack of worry about the result of the vote. Elims can afford this more since they have teammates to defend them. There's also the possibility that Steel was around and was just happy with how things were playing out. Secondly, and this isn't a great reason, but if I'm right, an elim!Steel flip should clear me a bit. I'm also strongly reconsidering my elim read on Mat. He is voting on Steel, and there's also Szeth's comment about tone, which I'll trust even if I don't know about Szeth himself. I also grudgingly buy his reasoning for D1, which was my primary justification for suspecting him.
  15. And here I was thinking Alv just has an uncanny ability to read me as elim. Turns out that it’s a GM issue . Or maybe he actually can read me that well, and just doesn’t want to let on about it .
  16. This is what it means to be Araris. It is for everyone to suspect you without any reason. Also, you have both myself and Steel as your top suspicions, but we are the only ones that actually helped get a kill in last turn. Not sure I like that. However, currently it seems like the votes are shaping up to be like last cycle, which isn’t a great way to get information. Would you be willing to vote on one of your null reads? Devotary is pretty suspicious to me (same reason as Mat is), ... actually, that’s the only non-village read you have I really want to vote for. But you also didn’t really make an effort to get other people to join you on Archer, or to find a lesser suspicion that someone else was willing to go after. I’m not a huge fan of Aureole jumping on Szeth. A “mild” read after D1 is normal. I could probably jump on a train here. Killing a newbie early is a bit unfortunate, but we could be 25% of the way through the game already, so we don’t really have the time for feelings like that. So my top 3 are Mat, Devo, and Aureole, in decreasing order, but I’ll vote for any of them if someone will join me.
  17. I was asleep for the back half of the cycle. Not much to say here, except that everyone is suspicious D1. And I'm rather suspicious of Devotary and Mat for being around near the end of the cycle and not doing anything. In my opinion, an elim would have less of a reason to rock the boat than a villager, knowing the outcome and all.
  18. Poke, poke, poke, Stab! Kinda like duck, duck, goose, except the SE murder variety.
  19. Guess I’ll start off on Liranil. Might switch if anyone seriously advocates for the “no kill” vote option.
  20. I would say that @Kasimir is an example of why this might not work, but he never goes to sleep, so he wouldn't cause any issues.
  21. I actually wasn't a Skindancer in this situation. All the other Masters were . Or at least most of them.
  22. What!? Ethically challenged? All I did was suicide bomb all the school's Masters. It was for the greater good!
  23. It's because he was slacking off for most of those seven years, leaving me to carry all the weight around here . I'll go ahead and sign up as Fadrian.
  24. Okay, I've made a couple of changes: link to updated rules. The first, directed at preventing this game from turning into just a vanilla game, is a flavor award: I still think the mechanics themselves offer incentive enough for trading info, but this should add to that without actually changing the game balance at all. The other change is to give the elims a faction kill, subject to the same restrictions as a normal coinshot ability: I also made the Elder and Metallurgist roles unable to grant players more role charges than they started with, and unable to self-target, so they will want to be in contact with someone before using their ability.
