From the rules: If only a single Ministry Agent is alive, they can submit both the faction kill and the faction location scan in the same turn.- 594 replies

This isn't really correct. All Allomantic abilities are unlimited use, so long as you always know the location of your target. The 2 charges means you basically get one "free" missed location.- 594 replies

Long Game 80: Skaa Tenements
Araris Valerian replied to Araris Valerian's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Fade glanced furtively around before ducking into an alleyway. I’m already late to the… *Crash* His arms flailed as the street suddenly fell from under his feet. After a short drop, he hit the muddy ground and lay for a moment, stunned. What in the Lord Ruler? Fade got dazedly to his feet and tried to get his bearings. He was at the bottom of some sort of hole, dug into the bottom the alleyway. “You’re trespassing! That’ll be five meal tokens.” An elderly skaa woman was glaring down at Fade from the edge of the pit, leaning heavily on a knobbly walking stick. For a moment, Fade was unable to find any words. “Meal tokens? You old fool! You’ll regret keeping me from my…” *Thunk* Arenta let a rope down into the pit and clambered down to where Fade had dropped onto the floor, muttering to herself, “I said five meal tokens, not to insult me. Kids these days…” As she felt through the man’s coat for anything of value, Arenta noticed that Fade’s eyes had gone glassy, and his chest didn’t move. Guess I hit you a bit too hard. That’ll teach you to talk like that to your elders. Or it would, anyway. Surprisingly, Fade’s corpse had a few boxings on it, a rarity among skaa. Perhaps more surprising, since few skaa could read, a folded parchment had been stuffed in on of the inner coat pockets. Reading the note, a rare smile grew on Arenta’s face. Guess you deserved that whack to the head, and a harder one would have suited you even more. She bent over and wiped some of the ash smudges from around the body’s eyes. Sure enough, intricate tattoo’s adorned Fade’s face, a sure mark of an obligator, albeit a relatively minor one. In addition to her many other talents, Arenta knew the skaa rumor mill like the back of her hand, and word of the disguised ministry agent spread quickly to the inhabitants of the tenement buildings near her territory. Most of the skaa were too beaten down to care, but a few were worried enough to start pointing fingers at other potential spies. Fade was a Ministry Agent! Day 1 has begun, and will end on Sunday at 6:00 PM EDT. If you have not received a GM PM, please contact me. @Elandera is the IM, and unless she says otherwise, don't include her in PMs, but you must include me in all of them. For reference, here is a link to the rules. I'd also like to request that people try as hard as possible to maintain reasonable activity levels. I would want that anyways, but the rules for this game will not work as well if players aren't actively engaging (whether or not they are sticking to opsec ). General Rules: PMs are open but must be 1-1 Players can take a single action per Cycle Day turns will be 48 hours long, night turns will be 24 hours longs No vote minimum to get voted out Tied votes will be decided at random Player List:- 594 replies

Yes. The Hemalurgic Spike kill is functionally identical to a Coinshot kill, except that it can be used by any of the Ministry Agents (and hence I won't distinguish between the two in a writeup).- 594 replies

I'd like to get at least 15 people in the game if I can, so if we are still hovering around the current numbers I'll probably extend signups until Wednesday or Friday. But I'll start by Friday at the latest, and work with less people if I have to.- 594 replies

I guess I was unclear. The rules distinguish between Allomantic and Location roles. Location roles have a single charge which is consumed upon use. Allomantic roles have 2 charges, and only consume one with an incorrectly submitted location (in which case the action also fails).- 594 replies

No. You only lose a charge if you incorrectly submit the location of your target. The charge limit is to stop people from just randomly guessing a whole bunch.- 594 replies

That's more of a flavor thing, since everyone dies if the elims win, and there would be nobody to give a writeup to. But I can make it official regardless of who wins, and at least announce in thread who had the most accurate list even if the elims win.- 594 replies

I think this game needs all sorts of players, and if you can make this a quiet, RPful game, then I'll enjoy reading your content . Write a good porch somewhere and I'll make sure Arenta finds her way there. I don't think anyone needs to play this game a specific way for the game to work. I mean, in either extreme it's gonna be either like a normal game with pretty basic roles, or one with lots of vanilla players. I hope for something in between, and I think that is pretty much bound to happen.- 594 replies

The Elder ability recharges a Location Role, but is itself a Recharge Role. So in theory something like a Drunk Elder could self-target if the rules didn't prohibit it.- 594 replies

No, you are guaranteed to get a different location than where you started. No, neither the Elder nor the Metallurgist can self-target.- 594 replies

A small group of cloaked figures ventured into the Industrial District of Luthadel. Nothing was too remarkable about them, except perhaps that they had more ash than usual smeared around their faces and near their eyes. The next morning, several skaa known to have connections to the underworld were found dead, holes ripped in their chests. These killing were different from the random beatings doled out by the nobility, and the local skaa elders met to discuss the issue. Welcome to LG 80: Skaa Tenements! Signups will end a week from today on Monday, August 30 at 5:00PM EDT. @Elandera will be my IM. Rules (doc form): Quick Links: Player List: Rule Clarifications:

Sounds good, I'll get the rules to the committee and hopefully have signups up by tomorrow evening. Guess my 100th game will be my first as a GM .

I’m happy to run the game, but I don’t know how long we should wait before assuming people are busy. Both Straw and Mailliw were on the Shard last weekend, everyone else that hasn’t responded it’s been almost a month.
-
I could probably run it, but I’m pretty much at the bottom of that list.

Thinking about the self-conversion capability in the recent LG, it might be interesting to have a ruleset that sort of allows players to pick their alignments at the start. So the first 24-48 hours, there are open (maybe only partly open?) PMs and (maybe) everyone gets their roles, if there are any. Probably don't want many power roles for this idea. Then each player picks alignment A or alignment B in their GM PM (might work with more than 2 choices as well). From whichever group has fewer players (this wouldn't actually be revealed ever), the GM randomly assigns players to be elims so that roughly 20% of the total players are elims. Gameplay proceeds from normal after that, with PMs being closed. There would definitely be some edge cases in the setup to build rules around, but the concept seems like it could be fun.

Long Game 79/Anonymous Game 10: The Rhythm of Freedom
Araris Valerian replied to Steeldancer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I enjoyed watching this game, and was glad that everything was resolved smoothly. From a moderating perspective, the self-conversion thing should have been discussed more by the rules committee. There's nothing inherently wrong with a self-conversion, but the expectations of the players and the GM need to be out in the open, otherwise things could turn south quickly. This is an issue that could be dealt with by changing the mechanic slightly, by having GM expectations clear in the rules, or by (not so much in an anonymous game) having the discussion among players in the signups.- 819 replies

Yeah, that makes sense. I could have rationalized that vote based on activity levels, but you are right that the choice was alignment based.

Well, my evil streak is up to 6 now. I think that's a record, if 5 wasn't. @Lotus and @Illwei, thanks for running the game! I greatly enjoyed it, and the distribution turned out to work out wonderfully for our set of players. I think I might have failed to insert my tell (misspelling a word) into a few posts where I lied. I think the issue was that I was trying to think as village!Araris when I wrote those posts, or at least pretending to think that way, so I never considered that they would be lies from elim!Araris's perspective. But I think I could justify them all away in the end, and the village won regardless, so no matter. But I did feel bad watching Kas trying to work through all that, knowing that I hadn't done the best job on my end.
