  1. 7. That is a language not from Roshar. Look in Elantris, and pay attention to any places Invested with racial stereotype breaking pessimism.
  2. I'd assume Shadesmar connects there. I mean, there is a whole nother continent, and that means a lot of Cognitive Activity.
  3. Can we add instances of the number 'ten' to this thread, if only for Stormlight Archive significance? Lift says that she's ten years old, and anything above that is unlucky.
  4. Put this on the list of questions to ask Brandon. It's a good one.
  5. I believe that there was a State of the Sanderson that said he was definitely planning on rewriting it, just not immediately. Personally, I would say, go for it! It has a self contained plot, as Havoc said, but it kind of also feels like Elantris. Actually, it feels a lot like Elantris, just because it has some similar characters. Honestly, go for it! It is really good. And I doubt that he would cannabalize anything from here, considering that some of these characters (at least one) have been in his other books. (Think Purelake).
  6. Heck, it would be worse than that. Literally all of our SA theories could hinge on Taln, and his knowledge, as well as a much greater understanding of the cosmere
  7. I love the idea of temporal bronze being able to sense past allomancy (or Investiture). That part alone of the theory makes it upvote worthy.
  8. Also, it sounds really similar to SA, especially with the lightstorms, and gem-like glass to tap your light from. The fact that light eyes are also literally special people is also a direct take from SA. Maybe you should rethink it a litlte bit.
  9. Oh! Here's another one: Do the Shardplate and the Shardblades that the Alethi use have Investiture from the same Shard? If not, then what Shards do they have Investiture from? Edit: Did you know that was today? Did you go?
  10. Well.... Yeah. Unless he was really stupid... wait. He would've been that stupid, just because of how many clones he was creating. I guess it could be feasible either way.
  11. Thanks for going! Only one, really. When a spren like Wyndle's vine hardens and people can see it, can they touch it as well? Also, when it crumbles to dust, does that dust still exist in the Physical Realm?
  12. Kurk! Xenocide is my favorite one! Though I will admit, Children of the Mind is a little... weird.
  13. Wait... wut? I had no idea that he was that popular. Yeah, I voted, but it was mostly for moral support. Funny thing is, I only picked Steelheart over Rithmitist because I wanted him to win, even though in my opinion, Rithmitist or Memory of Light are by far the better books.
  14. First Thoughts: Dammit. All of this theorizing, just to have it given away on the freaking back flap. Oh, well. At least there's still Renarin.
  15. I cannot say this enough. Read AoL. It is absolutely awesome, and even if you have to force yourself all the way through to the climax, there are 2 very vivid throwbacks to the old Mistborn that will make you cry with joy. And keep a lookout for High Imperial. That's not even counting the fact that those are some of Sanderson's best words. I love massive tomes with a deepseated joy in my soul, but TES is fantastic, just absolutely flows. Legion is hilarious, and Alcatraz too. If you can find Alcatraz, go with that, because they are short, sweet, and have some Spook speak. Read, my fellow Sharder, READ!
  16. Even the size of Bonzo, wasn't that bad. IN the original, the book (Major Spoiler), Ender deliberately attacks, and deliberately kills. It wasn't a conscious thought, but he was trying to attack and kill Bonzo. The movie made it look like it was an accident. I actually kind of liked how short Bonzo was, as it gave him a chip on his shoulder. He was plenty buff, though. Kind of editing myself, but I was fine with Bonzo. I just don't like how they censored it for moneymaking while destroying the best part of the original message, and Ender's whole character conflict, especially considering how Bonzo was supposed to be a mirror for the Buggers.
  17. Or there were Cadmium and Bendalloy mistings? I mean, no one had access to those metals, so no one would know. They'd kind of be like Aluminum Gnats.
  18. Well, objectifies them. He clearly doesn't see them as actual people. But then again, Fortuity didn't really see other people as actual people, so it's hard to tell.
  19. On his website, there's a sectioin called 'contact brandon'. Just send him an email from there asking for it (and Aether of NIght. That one's not as good, but still fine). Make sure to slather it with flattery, though.
  20. It ends up being sementics, I think. Kind of like tomatoes, and whether or not they are a fruit or vegetable. It just depends on if you want the classification to be on what the power does or where it comes from. I like compounding savant, though.
  21. I think a big part of it is luck, and marketability. Recently, Brandon wrote Steelheart, and I'm pretty sure it has achieved the largest popularity and media attention from any of his books, just because it happens to be dystopian YA. Steelheart's good, because it is Brandon, but at the same time it is also his worst published book (in my opinion). The biggest problem is that Brandon does not write YA, as many of those other authors do. Also, sex sells, and Brandon does not write sex.
  22. 1. Way of Kings, Hardcover. There's just something about that massive fantasy book in your lap that almost seems magical. Oh, and the book is fantastic, too. 2. Alloy of Law. Literature, I think the mistborn trilogy is better, but AoL gives this strange sense of catharsis and nostalgia that it feels like coming home to your mother's homecooked food, all while you are reading something hilarious and immensely entertaining. 3. Emperor's Soul. This book's message about art is just profound. It has all of Brandon's skill and message in writing, but condensed and made concise, which really is the goal of novel telling.
  23. Uggh. The problem with that movie for me, at least, was how the beginning was so promising... so hopeful... it just crushed my dreams when the end felt so rushed and generalized. The way they ruined(ish) the sequel, which is a much better book, and the way that the ruined Ender and Bonzo, just really hurt me. And on the Mistborn movie front, has anything happened? I feel if the video game is awesome enough, something might.
  24. I do like that idea, because it doesn't have us trying to make distinctions where we really can't see any, (other than Szeth's blade).
  25. I still think the evil is Odious, or the anti-Adonalsium. When the shades wither you, then it's sort of how Odium would corrupt a spren, and your innate investiture, along with your cognitive identity, gets ruined. This planet is not Braise, I hope, but it might have a touch of Odium, maybe after one of Aona's or Skaze's splinters fell there.
