  1. I kind of agree with Calderis. Consider that Spook was a savant for only about a year, but we already saw some pretty life-altering side-effects. I'm pretty sure the RPG has Marsh and Breeze as savants, but well, that's the RPG. If they had been savants for their "adult lives" you'd think there would be something much more noticeable. I mean, compare them to Spook and the soulcasters and you can see the discrepancy. That said, I think you might be onto something with Vasher...It's brought up rather often in Warbreaker just how much better he is than everyone else. And it's not just his knowledge, it's how much he can do with a simple Command and few breaths. The fact that he can visualize his Commands so well sounds savantish to me.
  2. So I guess this means the reverse is actually easier, and it's not that hard to picture. Instead of drawing on their metals, the allomancer just draws on the "raging storm" inside them. Again, assuming you've somehow hacked to get both systems in the first place. Edit: actually it's more likely that stormlight would replace the investiture that flows from Preservation which powers allomancy, rather than replacing the metals themselves. I don't actually know what that would look like.
  3. Do we have WoB on whether Forgery can Initiate people into other systems? If it can, I bet it would be pretty easy for a Terrisperson to rewrite their history to have stronger feruchmical genes. Heck, post-Era 1, any scadrian could probably be Forged to have a Terris ancestor and make themselves a Ferring. The stamp would have to be applied every day, but still that's pretty useful. You could have different stamps for different feruchmical powers. Of course, I feel like there was some reason Forgery couldn't Intiate people without additional "hacking" so this could be entirely moot Edit: to clarify, a Forger actually has to have sDNA from MaiPon, which makes it rather unlikely the Forger could do this on themselves. But it is possible to make a soulstamp for another person. At least if said Forger is Wan ShaiLu.
  4. Basically what Weltall just said. But because I feel like idly speculating: what if there was a godmetal (say, Honor's, Cultivation's, or the alloy of both) that infused you with stormlight when burnt allomantically? Said stormlight could then be used to fuel surgebinding. Technically this wouldn't be using allomancy to fuel it directly and still involves stormlight, but it would be a lot easier than what you would probably otherwise have to do to hack the systems. Just an idea. Edit: this also requires you to be both a surgebinder and a full Mistborn. If you've pulled that off, more hacks probably aren't that big a deal. When in doubt: Henalurgy.
  5. Compound enough Feruchemical cadmium to stop the Eversorm by blowing really really really hard. Probably wouldn't really work work since I think Feruchemical cadmium just puts oxygen in your blood rather than filling your lungs, but the idea amused me.
  6. I have another evening class Wednesdays At least for the first half of the semester...
  7. Edit: Realized at the last second my meme violated the spoiler policy for Bands of Mourning. Oops! Have a different one: via Imgflip Meme Maker
  8. That first part wasn't ramblings? In WoA we do see Dox cursing, somewhat ironically, from his PoV HA! I knew I'd seen that name somewhere before!
  9. The question, though, is that if it's Spooks physical body, why did it have the Survivor's scars? My instinct is that Kelsier somehow managed to get a new body. As an aside, the one-eyed-spike imagery is both disturbing and awesome.
  10. I assume you're referring to how Siri is referred to as "Vessel" by the priests, and I'm right there with you .
  11. So I saw that some one else had done this and it made sense to do the same. So...yeah I've been mostly absent from the forms for...gosh over a year. Also at some point, and for some inscrutable reason, I changed my screen name from Serendipity. I am literally bipolar, so feel free to join my delusion that this diagnosis explains/excuses all of my past and future erratic behavior. Just finished both Bands of Mourning and Secret History and let's just say that if anything was going to suck me back in, it was those two books. Since this isn't a spoiler thread, I'll jut share my general reaction: AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Also, I may or may not have gotten into the Branderson's creative writing workshop at BYU (the real one, not just the lecture). I'm still not entirely convinced this isn't a fever dream. And I was just glancing through some Q&A and when the heck did when we officially learn about Frost!?! I'd been so painfully good about being tight lipped because he Don't ask me to prove these assertions, just know that they are above scrutiny. I accept positive social feedback in the form of upvotes. Don't be shy!
  12. I am incredibly offended that just because I haven't been active for months that I did not know this was a thing. Also that that it's apparently scheduled so that I can't attend just because I have to attend the writing workshop with Brandon... ...Wait, what, I didn't say anything! I ADMIT NOTHING *flees cackling madly
  13. Yeah I'm reading this scene and basically screaming aloud: "Wait! No! Khriss! Come back and talk more about readshifts! Nooooooooo!" This book was tramautizing.
  14. So this lovely double release has finally dragged me back to the forums. My reaction is basically thus: KELSIER. IS. STILL. ALIVE!
  15. When you get this ridiculously awesome blanket for your birthday:
  16. I just changed my profile name from Serendipity to Scriptorian. Also, my profile pic is different.

    1. Ookla the Absent

      Ookla the Absent

Hey, now you just confused me...

  17. But I think it's generally assumed that Inquisitors can't pull on these trace metals they see, regardless of the blue lines involved. So this would suggest that blue lines does not equal pulling ability. Though this doesn't necessarily mean you can pull without the blue lines. Edit: As a semi-random aside, I had a dream last night that I was a Lurcher. Though, I had trouble pulling on just a coin. Kind of disappointing.
  18. I think it sounds consistent enough to be at least plausible. Another extension of this theory would be to have multiple seekers able to pierce a copper cloud, although I'm not sure how useful that would be.
  19. I didn't make it into the workshop portion of the class...Much sad with the sadness.

  20. Finally started the Wheel of Time, and I'm almost done with the Eye of Eternity. It's...interesting. Not bad, but some of the chaarcters are so pitifully genre-blind. Its appartly not bad writing, because some of the characters are pretty awesome. It just so happens that all the protagonists are currently idiots. And I mean that in the best possible way.

  21. As a semi-random aside, has anyone else noticed how the Esivangers are like a scaled-down version of the Sons of Honor? Esivangers endanger themselves to bring back the Radiants, while Sons of Honor endanger humanity to bring back the Heralds. Coincidence? Conspiracy?
  22. Taravangian also knew about Gavilar's visions and did something completely different with that knowledge than the Sons of Honor. My impression is that Gavilar shared what he knew with several people who proceeded to split up and do their own thing after he died. Gavilar's own intentions are anyone's guess. Recall that Gavilar mentioned someone associated with the Sons of Honor as possibly being behind his assassination (Thadiaker or Restares, I always get the two confused). Edit: Found it, it's Restares.
  23. Upvotes for all the civil responses!
  24. We also has instances of Shallan seemingly drawing things happening elsewhere. I think its entirely possible that the oathstone could serve a tracking function without necessarily magically compelling the Truthless. Personally, I'm not sure if its reasonable to assume that the Shamans would be using the Honorblades. It seems the best explanation for how they could expect to get the Truthless' Blade back from whoever killed him, but it feels really at odds with what we know of their culture for them to use the Blades with any regularity.
  25. It was way too hot in that library. Anyway, I asked if we would ever read from a Spren viewpoint. He said "it is likely that you someday will." Better than a RAFO, even if it essentially amounts to the same thing .
