  1. I asked about this all the way back in April when I got my WoR signed, but I haven't been on since then, so here it goes. I asked if a spren could form more than one physically distinct weapon, with the intent of seeing if a Knights Radiant could dual-wield shardblades. He basically said no, but he emphasized that spren were once all part of the same power, and so could possibly be Splintered again. I take this to mean that you could Splinter your own spren to get two shardblades, but that seems does not seem to me a good idea. This would also rule out shardbow/arrows. I suppose you could use a regular bow, and fire your spren in arrow-form...
  2. When you have a dream about being a Mistborn twice in three days.
  3. Granted, but it's too long and you trip on the tassels at dramatic moments. I wish to be Batman.
  4. My first choice has always been Electrum (I read Alloy of Law first, so I knew about it before I was supposed to...). Then I got diagnosed with a hypomanic disorder, so I could pretend that I actually was one . It would still be really cool to have- it would certainly beat any stabilizer medication-but it would only really optimally work if my moods were balanced 50/50, when its closer to 80/20 on the depression side. Still a sweat power though. Edit: I know! I'll just Compound Electrum! As for my second choices, I don't think there's anything that hasn't been said. Brass, Zinc, Bendalloy, etc. P.S. I think there's a typo on the poll. I'm pretty sure that Atium Ferrings aren't Seers, that would be Atium Mistings. A quick Google search says we don't have name for the Ferring.
  5. Something I think we're forgetting about (or maybe I'm just crazy), is that Hemalurgy is a lot more versatile than just granting specific powers. Meaning, that I think the Inquisitors eye-spikes are deliberately set up to give them super-metal vision. Inquisitors aren't just humans with a bunch of spikes, they're very specifically crafted Hemalurgic creatures with distinct abilities and biology. Remember that the Lord Ruler was never able to come up with another Hemalurgic creation in the 1000 years after his ascension. It's that complex.
  6. Hey fellow Sharders! For the mildly curious, I've been inactive for the past few months because I received my LDS mission call to Arizona. However, one thing led to another and it turns out I have bipolar II and a general anxiety disorder. So I'm back home for a few months until I can get declared "stable". Until then, I've let myself get sucked back into the Cosmere and 17th Shard.

Wow, that really sucks. I've got general anxiety disorder too, and I've been waiting for a year to be ready for my mission. Dealing with anxiety and bipolar? The Lord must have something really special planned for you. Hang in there.

Thanks! The two disorders together probably sound worse than it is. Bipolar II is basically just "normal" depression with some "up" phases.

Well, still. If you need anything, just send me a message. I go to BYU too.

I know you've probably got better people to ask for things, people that you actually know, but the offer still stands.

  7. This was why I originally came up with my inverse-square formula, at a certain distance the force of the Push and gravity are equal, hence the floating. I'd guess the energy one can Push with in the elastic-collision model is also limited by range.
  8. I think you messed up your units in places. Energy should be in joules not newtons. Also, you're assuming that her springy ness is directly proportional to her mass, which is the complete opposite of what this theory is stating. It's also possible that I have no idea what I'm talking about and should just shut up now. I was never good at elastic collisions...
  9. Me likes. It explains some of the nuances a lot better than my inverse-square law does. So basically, so long as your Allomantic strength remains the same, the amount of kinetic energy you can push/pull with is the same, regardless of your weight/mass. So when Wax taps iron and Pushes, the total energy applied is the same as when he stores, except a lot more of the energy is applied to what he is Pushing on. Awesomeness!
  10. I've had my own share of newbie blunders. You're doing just fine.
  11. There's the theory that world hopping is limited to coming in/out through shardpools, whereas is seems that elsecalling can take you to any location (though it's apparently imprecise).
  12. Finally someone understands me!
  13. Actually, I believe there is WoB to the effect that Hoid isn't using the lerasium the way we'd expect him to. I'll let. Some one who's not on a phone to find it. Or I could be crazy. There is that. Note, he could still be an allomancer by other means (and I bet he is).
  14. Maybe Lightweavers just enjoy messing with people that way . You're totally right though, I thought I had written a disclaimer to that effect. It still supports my perspective, if not very well.
  15. This thread started well before we had WoR so please forgive our cluelessness . I think the WoB refers specifically to dead shardblades so the next time I get a question out of him I'm gonna ask if a Spren can form more than one physicaly distinct forms at once.
  16. He's really more of the Easter Bunny....
  17. I believe all that is required for someone to be drawn to pick up Nightblood and subsequently impale themselves is for them to not be "pure in heart", which most Epics, including Steelheart, most certainty are not. And since it pretty established that Steelheart can hurt himself, this would be a very effective way of *ahem* dispatching him. Edit: This idea has almost nothing to with the OP, but I thought is was cool enough to comment upon. I suppose we didn't specify whether this is Szeth pre or post WoR...
  18. I see what your saying. Although, they are adjacent Orders, so I think they'll actually be more similar than not. I think what's going to determine which laws Skybreakers have to uphold is going to be some combination between which legal systems longstanding enough to have their own cognitive aspects, and what laws are actually "just". For example, say in Shinovar it has been illegal for a millennium to make fun of someone's shoes. If this law had been culturally and mentally ingrained in the society, then, at least while he/she is there, a Skybreaker would be required to follow this law because the law itself would exist Cognitively. Conversely, a law that requires you to immediately kill someone because they tripped, would probably go against the greater ideal of Justice, not requiring the Skybreaker to follow it. Or maybe if a government makes a law outside its statutory authority (like Congress making a law to censor free speech), since this new law is technically illegal, the Skybreakers don't have to follow it. The divine attribute is Justice, and not Legality, after all. I'm betting their third ideal will do something to clear this up some.
  19. I finished high school a year ago and people still think I'm a freak. When you are trying to decide which Order of Radiants best suites you and are frustrated by the general lack of info on them.
  20. When this is one of your favorite threads to read.
  21. My very first thought at seeing Vin's expression on the WoA cover: "Hello. Would you like to destroy some evil today?" I don'y like the new covers overly much, but I don't know that they're as terrible as everyone is making them out to be. (Okay, Vin in the third one looks pretty bad).
  22. Ooooooo...nice catch
  23. Kalak- To Whine Nale- To Be Cryptic Shallash- To Vandalize Jezrien- To Babble Hoid- To Be Absent
  24. In that case... I'd go with being an Elantrian (with knowledge of geographicly relavent symbols) and build a super fortress, compete with unlimited food and water, automated defense towers, and teleportation pads.
  25. I am Harmony. I wave a proverbial hand and transform all the zombies into naturaly reproducing, peaceful, quasi-hemalurgic creatures. So there. Perhaps we should have some more limits on what powers we can choose from...
