I am not sure I can agree with the Lifelight theory, though it is interesting. But This I so hope, because in addition to all the lead up to it, I keep imagining training sessions with Adolin and his "instructor" Lift.

Tress of the Emerald Sea Reactions (Cosmere Edition)
FollowYourMuse replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think this repetition worked very well for a story that is being told by Hoid, it fits patterns of oral tradition and fairytales, which have typical archetypes and familiar characters. -
Why the Ghostbloods want Stormlight so badly
FollowYourMuse replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
This is my interpretation of the WoB too. There is enough left open though to look for other theories. Were they skybreakers that lost their spren and found some other source like Dor or Medallions, meaning they would no longer be Radiants. When did they leave Roshar? recently or years ago, maybe after the Recreance, Maybe they followed a different final Oath and did not follow Nale, their Spren may have been killed or maybe agreed with the others that chose to end their bonds. We know that Spren before the false desolations did not become deadeyes, they could have left them safely in Shadesmar and gone off world. There is not enough information to determine anything other than they can fly, and appear to follow the same commitment to laws that is set forth by High Spren. -
I have no clue on how curse was modified to verse, but I was thinking that now that much of it would depend on Hoid's intent, and now that Tress is a sprouter "user of the spore magic" she could technically be considered a Sorceress "User of magic".

Just started... Scadrial...?

Did a little more research, It appears some cities did have public bath houses with showers starting in mid to late 1890's. -
Just started... Scadrial...?
FollowYourMuse replied to S. Stormy's topic in Tress of the Emerald Sea
I do not recall mention of Showers in MB era2 and that may have been too early. In the US it was 1920's when Showers became common in urban city areas, it was 1950's -1960's for rural homes to have indoor plumbing and even then older homes were less likely to have showers, and may just have had a hand shower sprayer on a tub. I think it was even later for some other countries. Meant to Quote lacrossedeamon -

I like this biological reason. I was thinking that as far as magical system Salts can also be metals, like Sodium Chloride (salt), or Nickel Chloride, Copper sulfate. Magnesium sulfate...

The seethes are caused by air, so it brings to mind some kind of basic life form that is ingesting the spores and releasing oxygen. Like cyanobacteria and stromatolites did for the earths oceans.

Tress and the Fungus among us
FollowYourMuse replied to leftsides's topic in Tress of the Emerald Sea
While I am having fun imagining 12 giant mushrooms as moons, it makes sense that there are 12 fungi farms that are dropping their spores onto the planet. I have attended a Humongous Fungus Fest in Michigan, that fungus stretches across 37 acres, weighs in at 21,000 lbs., and is around 1,500 years old. I know there are larger ones out there, so a planet/moon covered in a fungi farm is very feasible. -
I really need to re-read Elantris, I had forgotten that.

I like this, I wonder what the effects of Hoid's curse could have had on Design? Ulaam also specifically mentions giving it "seven different faces.” There is also the quote from Wit on design being a monster

1. Hard for me to tell on the reader, but I assumed they were yarn or socks on a line, as her family knits socks.

Methane is a good theory, I was thinking along similar lines but thinking there might be some kind of bacteria perhaps that feeds off of the spores/ or dead spores and that causes oxygen buildup and release similar to methane release.

There are many options for free ebook apps for different formats, and Brandon often has multiple formats, and they are always DRM free so that you can use your reader of choice.

Discuss the Stormlight 5 Prologue Here
FollowYourMuse replied to LewsTherinTelescope's topic in Cosmere Discussion
He did change his goals, after Gavilar he was intent on just letting the storms wipe everyone out and granting them a quick death. It was Dalinar not giving up on the oaths, defeating the enemy or on The Stormfather, in Dalinar forcing The Stormfather to bond him reluctantly. It was also Syl returning and confronting the Stormfather on her choosing to fight and bond again. But much of the SF understandings and changes grew as Dalinar forged the bond with him, I wonder too how much change in the Stormfather was triggered by Syl's bond to Kaladin, who speaks to him in the Storms, so he must have some connection to Kal through Syl. I think the SF tried, to direct things with Gavilar and failed, but he needed to give the visions, so with Dalinar he avoided contact as much as possible. Syl came back from being "lost" after Gavilars death so she would not have see or known anything about the Stormfather during her time "asleep" -

This is what I am thinking too. While I do think there could be conflict of thought with Tanavast's (Crazy) cognitive Shadow having merged with him, which could without a connection/bond to someone have been causing more erratic behavior and identity crisis. I do think it is the Stormfather. We know that he is bound to show the visions, but with Dalinar he is reluctant, and outright hostile towards the idea of bonding. I am not convinced The Stormfather ever told Gavilar he could become a herald, but that is what Gavilar assumed, and it is like this was the Stromfather attempting to find a way to continue the oathpact without putting spren in danger. We see with Dalinar that it is a begrudging acceptance and Dalinar is pushing him each step of the way. Where With Gavilar from what little we get, The Stormfather is trying to push him in a specific direction, without really understanding people, and then realizes he made a mistake, and that Gavilar didn't understand at all what was needed. We also know he was not yet bonded with Gavilar, or even that Gavilar could use stormlight, so the effect of better understanding we see the Stormfather go through later with Dalinar, and the return of Syl, has not happened. -
The Sibling. Is the name we know from The Stormfather, it is unknown what Honor or Cultivation name for them is/was. Cultivation calls The Nightwatcher daughter. By The Stormfathers words we know that The Sibling is a sibling to the 2 other Bondsmith spren "children" of Honor, Cultivation and for the sibling Honor and Cultivation. It is possible that the Unmade are also children of Honor and or Cultivation, though we know that now they are splinters of Odium. (WoB) They could have been Unmade and corrupted with Odium's investiture.
