  1. Taking these in order: 1. Short answer: no. Slightly longer answer: Kell's too long dead. The Returned's Divine Breath heals the body and maintains the soul's connection to it. Kelsier couldn't Return without direct intervention on Endowment's part, seeing how he doesn't have a body to Return into. If a Mistborn were to Return, though, they would most likely retain their abilities. Unless of course the Investitures interact strangely and give them something completely new. 2. Once again, the short answer is no. Lifeless aren't "controlled," Lifeless are Commanded. They're really little more than automatons; they just follow instructions. 3. His immortality also means there's no cap on how long he has to gather Breaths or learn about Roshar. It's implied that he was ancient when the Manyway started, and that was a half millennium before the events of Warbreaker. We have no idea the time difference between Warbreaker and The Way of Kings, for all we know Vasher's been there since the last Desolation. Porridge: Umm... First Heightening is fifty Breaths. However, fifty Breaths worth of Investiture isn't noticeable to anyone who isn't Invested themselves. Each Breath endows some degree of lifesense though, so it probably doesn't take that many to sense a spren.
  2. Wyrm: Hard to say. There's mixed good and bad in it from the perspective of all of the Factions. It assists the Pahn Kahl, Idrians and Hallandrens, and it sets back the Pahn Kahl, Idrians and Hallandrens. Overall though, I'd say bad. No lynch helps the Pahn Kahl most and sets them back least.
  3. As the vote happened, Aodan sat quietly, watching and listening, making notations in a large notebook. There was only two reliable ways to catch a traitor. One was espionage, and the other logic. Unfortunately, logic took far longer, but it was the only way available. Even though there had been no definitive conclusion reached today, even that lack told him something. Aodan knew that if he watched for long enough, he would learn the right questions to be asking, and if he had the right questions, he knew that eventually he would find the right answers. Well then. I clearly missed the most exciting part of this Day. At least no one died. I'm a little worried that once people from the two main factions (Idrian and Hallandren) start dying people might lose track of the Pahn Kahl.
  4. (A bit of an advance warning, I'm going to get a little technical here, but technical isn't exactly my strong suit so I'll also be making lots of generalizations. If I've got anything completely wrong feel free to point it out to me.) Well, let's start with some more assumptions. Preservation is considered a force of stability, while Ruin is considered a personification of entropy. Now entropy, as stated in the laws of thermodynamics, always increases within a closed system. To prevent an increase of entropy, or even temporarily reverse the process, energy has to be added to the system from the outside. So Preservation on a whole must add energy and remove entropy, while Ruin accelerates entropy and removes energy. Looking at things that way, we can group the systems like this: Allomancy: End-positive, Preservation's system as he must always add energy. Feruchemy: End-neutral, no increase or decrease of entropy; a balance of the two Shards. Hemalurgy: End-negative, an increase of entropy, and Ruin's system. It's not the most intuitive way to group them, but since we have confirmation in the Mistborn annotations that Allomancy is fueled by Preservation it's the only way that works.
  5. OOC: Out Of Character IC: In Character RAFO: Read And Find Out (this one is a way of answering delicate questions about his books that Brandon "inherited" from Robert Jordan). Edit: Huh. My 111th post happened at exactly 11:11. Neat.
  6. During my reread of WoR today, I happened upon this little gem while Kal is in prison: (Ch. 62 "The One Who Killed Promises") Sounds like Axies' incarcerationspren to me. I guess he's never seen them because he's never been imprisoned in the Alethi Warcamps. (Or maybe its because of the differences between how he and Kaladin Cognitively interpret imprisonment, but that's a theory for another day.) Are there any other neat references back to The Way of Kings that you've noticed? (Sorry if people have already noticed this, it didn't appear in any of the searches I did.)
  7. Hey, Gammer! You've been oddly quiet since the assassination. Any particular reason? I'm not overly suspicious of you yet but.... you haven't posted anything since the Game started and you've been around plenty. If you've got stuff going on and don't have time to post, just let us know and I'll drop my suspicions. However, I also know from experience just how distracting a doc can be, and things have to start somewhere.
  8. Hmm... Things are much more interesting than usual for this early in the game. I'm not going to voice any suspicions, but I'm watching all of you. Remember, the Master List sees all... and it's finally up to date. Seriously, the List this game is really hardcore, just these last couple pages took me nearly a half hour to put in. Aodan sat on the Salmon's patio, eating his breakfast as far away from the Potato as possible. He was unused to seeing dead bodies anywhere outside scholarly texts, and being reminded of it while eating did not work out well. He'd made two trips to puke into the bushes already. Unfortunately, assassinations were to be expected during things like this. Aodan had heard some saying that they suspected the Hallandrens, and although he had no love for them, he also knew better. While the grey patches of floor and the scarf screamed Awakener, the uneven ligature marks said otherwise. Someone was trying to frame the Hallandrens. Suddenly finding himself nauseated once again thinking about the body, Aodan set down his meal and ran for the much-abused bushes. Ooh, Top Secret Hallandren PM? Hmm... the Idrian Agent must be having a field day.
  9. Shhhhhh... You weren't supposed to mention those. What's a little manipulation between friends, anyway? ; ) Yeah, this game is going to be very interesting. *Insert Adem handtalk for vast understatement here* We (the ex-Spiked) did work really well as a team, but that doesn't mean I'm trusting any of you.
  10. Sounds good Claincy. Pretty well any and every time will be inconvenient to me at some point in the week with my current schedule, so it doesn't really matter. Have you decided if we're going to start with a Day or a Night? I'm just wondering for my own sanity, I'm trying to set up my Master List as early as possible, so I'm not scrambling to keep it up to date once the game starts, and good chunk of the layout changes depending on this. : P "...Why hello, what is your name?" "Aodan," he said, putting out his hand to shake. "Scholar by trade, glorified scribe by circumstance. I'm sorry, but I couldn't help overhearing you discussing the influence of group perception on Biochromatic Commands. Once upon a time it was an area of expertise of mine." Taking the last empty seat at the table, Aodan continued. "There are dozens of interesting correlations between every different type of Biochromatic Entity and Cognitive Perception. A great deal of which are outlined in this here book, if you didn't already know. Even the Retuned themselves seem to be affected by it, from decade to decade their general physical characteristics seem to change to fit our ever-fluctuating standards of perfection." Maill: Haha, you're not the only one. Being on the same side as her only highlighted how good she can be at this sort of thing. Gamma: I hope you don't mind me borrowing your organizational system for my signature. It's neatness appeals to my OCD.
  11. You know you're a northerner when you're unsurprised by a winter storm that drops 45cm of snow in storming April.

  12. Lifeless are... strange. When I started putting this theory together I originally had a section on them, but I wasn't really confident enough in it to post. When someone dies, their body must lose the most part of their Spiritual Aspect (seeing how we know there is an Afterlife in the Cosmere), but not necessarily their Cognitive, as the Cognitive doesn't just reflect how they think of themselves, but also how others think of them. We know the Breath used to create a Lifeless in a sense "replaces" the Innate Investiture that once made them human. We also know Awakening a Lifeless uses its own colour as fuel. But the energy from this is just going right back into the Lifeless, so what exactly is happening? Based on my current theory about how Awakening works, I think that the Breath picks up the remaining pieces of their Spiritual and Cognitive Aspects and shapes them and reinforces them until they are a workable whole again. It gets the energy for this by severing the non-essential aspects of the Spiritweb. Namely, colour. The Cognitive "shadow" of other's perceptions is what allows some skills to transfer to the Lifeless, and allows it some degree of awareness, especially when the Lifeless is made from someone with particularly strong Cognitive and Spiritual Aspects, like a famous Returned (Clod/Arsteel). This way the Lifeless would still have a Spiritweb, albeit a very weak and simplistic one. Like I said I'm not overly confident in this bit, but it's how I've tried to fit the Lifeless into the theory.
  13. Tired of standing around with a heavy pack waiting for something to happen, Aodan headed over to the nearest restaurant for lunch. Inside, he looked around for somewhere to sit, and spotted what appeared to be a pair of scholars discussing an ancient, tattered book. Aodan stood frozen, briefly unable to move. He recognized that book. It was one of the only logbooks from the Five Scholar's experiments to have survived the Manywar. It was also the book that had lead to him being branded a heretic and effectively exiled here. Colours. Even here it doesn't seem like I can escape that book. Aodan considered leaving, but instead decided to go over, since having others who might understand something of Realmatics to talk to was doubtless better than standing and waiting. Yes, someone being a Pahn Kahl in a game where they're the enemies is rather unfortunate. I was wondering if that would happen to anyone, and now that it has, I must say it's just as hilarious as I expected.
  14. Fixed it (colour) for you. ; ) By the way, in honour of this being Claincy's game, I vote that we all include some small bit of white text into our posts. This. So much this. I've been having tons of trouble thinking of halfway decent RP that could be Idrian or Hallandren. Aodan thanked the caravan driver that had conveyed him to this out of the way place, and turned to face the town where the peace negotiations would be held. It was surprisingly prosperous given its rural location on the border between Idris and Hallandren. Almost suspiciously so. That and the abundance of dyes and bright Hallandren clothing gave Aodan the feeling that this place might not be the neutral ground it claimed. Shaking his head, he hefted his travel bag, stuffed full with writing supplies for drawing up charters, treaties and the like, and started looking for the meeting place. What had those instructions said? The delegates were to meet by a restaurant weren't they? The Salmon & Potatoes or something like that, right? There were two restaurants on the main street, the Red Salmon and the Green Potato, which told him absolutely nothing about where he needed to be going, but from the number of people milling around the area, Aodan knew one thing. He was more than a little late.
  15. We know that the Terris Worldbringers were Realmatically aware to some degree: (Source) So Kwaan may well have been researching the Cognitive Realm.
  16. Perhaps at the Sixth Heightening you can make it so they can use some of the higher abilities for a certain amount of Breath or something? For Eighth you can give them a passive chance to not be affected by Awakening or something like that on top of what you already have, to make it a little more useful.
  17. I'm up for another round. Aodan, once renowned scholar, is going to be at the negotiations as well. Up until recently, he was well respected within the academic community... but for some reason speaking of Realmatics and denouncing the Returned as merely being Cognitive Entities that sustain themselves with Investiture gets oneself labelled as "crazy" and "heretical." Somehow he has the feeling that he was sent to this meeting just to be moved somewhere out of the way. At the very least, he's heard that this area has some of the best potatoes. This Game looks like its going to be really interesting Claincy, there's a lot of neat ways it could play out.
  18. @Joe It looks like it could work, and seems like a neat system. The only thing that might not be good are the roles that can't vote. Rather than having the Princelings being entirely unable to vote, maybe give them a 0.5? That way their votes, while less powerful than the other roles', still have an effect.
  19. If you want PM's, what you could do is randomly assign players Spanreeds. They could then choose one person to PM each cycle (Or Day/Night), allowing them to slowly relay information. If they die, the last person they communicated with would receive the fabrial. It would be much more limited than in previous games, but it could make for some very interesting dynamics. The only kind of strange role I can see is Stormform, as it still feels a little underpowered. As I'm thinking about it though, it could be very useful late-game, cutting down the time the Voidbringers need considerably. I might however add the stipulation that the vote of a player killed during the day will not count towards the total. That way, using it would be a little more beneficial to the Voidbringers. Edit: And then Hero comes by and ninja's my whole post. Great minds think alike and all that, I guess.
  20. That would have been me. In the version I was thinking of, pretty well all the roles with powers revolved around the Highstorms, which would come every three cycles. @Maill:
  21. Huh, that's an awesome way to censor things. I didn't know you could do that. By the way, I just had an image of Oscar Leroy shouting, "Jackchull!" at people, and nearly fell out of my chair laughing. (Kudos to anybody who actually knows what I'm talking about.)
  22. So sort of a more powerful, but single use Lurching? It seems like it could be pretty useful, and doesn't look too overpowered. If ever someone looked like they were for sure going to be killed it would be a nice, easy way to pick off a Spiked. That will change the game dynamic a fair bit for the Spiked (Pahn Kahl?); they'll always have to be weighing in the chance that they will lose someone by attacking an obvious target. Overall, I like it. (I reserve the right to change my mind though if I end up on team evil next game )
  23. I wonder where Splinter is now in the rankings.

  24. I wonder where Splinter is now in the rankings.

  25. Splinter is much less impressive sounding than Knight Radiant
