  1. Seeing that neither Aether or Wilson had woken, Aonar tacked up a short list on the wall near the most recent message. What we know: -Peng (Mistborn) can be trusted (Obviously) -Cessie (Thug) can be trusted. (For now) -Three of our members are traitors. -One Inquisitor -One Misting (Probably) -One Regular (Almost definitely) -That leaves about 18 members unaccounted for. The Inquisitor did spike someone. If he hadn't, we would have learned who died. Meta must have just forgotten to tell us the power the Inquisitor gave up.
  2. Ladies and gents, I do believe things just got interesting. I'm not quite sure sure why or how, but they did. I'm presuming that the extra time is for us to discuss our suspicions, inform everyone of whether or not we've revealed our roles, and generally give you more information to use to ferret out the Inquisitor/Spiked? If that is your game, Peng, it's not really a bad plan. I'm not sure how many people will actually be up for it though. Most people seem content to just wait through the night and see who dies.
  3. I think at this point everyone except perhaps the inactives have claimed roles to Peng, so I'm not sure why this is necessary, but I also can't see the harm in it. I, Aonar, have told Peng my role as well.
  4. I'd agree with what you have there, with the exception of Herwynbe. I won't tell why here, but Hero said earlier for people to ask Peng for confirmation that he wasn't the Inquisitor and I'll recommend for people to do that if they really suspect him. i'm not sure it's a great idea to openly claim regular though... a regular convert is much more useful to the Inquisitor than a misting. (Unless they're trying to remove an important misting.)
  5. But isn't that one of the best ways to work? Set up a single prominent person, with great control over everyone's vote, and in doing so ingratiate yourself enough that you won't be suspected by that person. That way you could sit back and relax, knowing that the person that everyone is going to follow will never suspect you. Really, the Inquisitor doesn't need to constantly work against the crew, s/he has other people to do that for him/her. The Inquisitor just needs to seem above suspicion. The Spiked last game proved this point well enough, Claincy and Aether both seemed to be actively working against the Spiked, even voting against Beetle and with Darnam at one point. I can't say I really think you're the Inquisitor though, I'm just pointing out a potential flaw in your logic.
  6. Aonar saw the crowd of people gathered around the inn and sighed. Another crewmember dead. He walked into the bar, listening to the crowd's whispers. Another misting dead. And a Seeker on top of that. Things just seemed to be going from bad to worse; crewmembers were dying left and right, and it looked like another was going to be dead by the day's end. From the conversations around the bar, it sounded like people were beginning to suspect that the Inquisitor had some way of knowing everything that they said. Just one more thing to worry about. The crewmembers were beginning to throw around accusations like steel-burners threw coins; some people were even suspecting him for some reason. Aonar was pretty sure he hadn't been overly suspicious, but then again, other people could be confusing, and a lot of the time they came to strange conclusions. He'd take breaking into a good and well guarded keep or picking a locked door over trying to understand someone's motivations any day. Sitting down beside a dejected looking Herwynbe, Aonar tried to figure out how he was supposed to get out of this mess alive. If Uber-Tin is a real thing then that's probably the scariest power I can think of; the Inquisitor being able to read even one person's PM's would be game changing. Now I'd like to know who most strongly advocated for people to send Peng their roles. If there is an Uber-Tin, then wanting people to PM Peng their roles seems rather suspicious, no? I'm going to wait a little before actually casting my vote, (I'd really like to be able to see some of Peng's reasoning for Eddy) but for now I would be willing to go with Eddy, if it comes to that.
  7. That's a very nice list, Wilson. So far as I can tell, you didn't miss anything. Just for future reference though, I happen to be a he, not a she. (I know it's not always easy to tell over a forum, but it's a little odd reading stuff about myself that's using the wrong gender pronoun. )
  8. "I'll second that. Another round of... well... whatever drinks we happen to have left, for everybody!" Dyring must have been stocking up for a while; the way some people have been drinking, I would have thought that we should have run out before the end of last night. It feels weird being near the top of several people's "to kill' list. Especially when I tried to save one of them. I don't think that anyone should be voicing suspicions right now though, particularly you, Peng.
  9. It makes no difference, but I vote no one. I wish Digits had been able to show up and make his case. He'll probably end up being the person who just Snapped.
  10. Out of boredom, I did a quick calculation and worked out the exact chance for an Unsnapped to gain the powers of a converted misting. It's a 77.7777777777...% chance if anyone wants to know. EDIT: Made it blue since it has no actual import to the game.
  11. I never agreed to go after random people. It doesn't matter whether or not they're important. Heck, why is Peng going after unimportant ones anyway? The Inqusitor has every power. He can claim to be anything. On top of that, the ones that claimed to be Regular Crewmembers may be Unsnapped and the Unsnapped gain the powers of mistings who are converted. That can hugely narrow down the members the Inquisitor converts, and make it much easier to track them down. Peng really has no better idea who the Inquisitor is than we do. You're free to follow Peng because he can't be converted, but I wont unless he can give me more reason to vote than, "he doesn't have any powers, so it doesn't matter if he dies." Awesomeness: Exactly, that would have been a much better plan than siccing everyone on one person at random.
  12. Honestly Dyring, I'm not sure I'd agree with you even if I weren't on that list. If I were the Inquisitor I would have refused to vote, then broken the quickly forming deadlock towards the one more likely to be a misting with the careful application of Soothing. That way I would both kill off an important member and deflect suspicion. I kind of hate going through the Inquisitor's actions and motivations like this, I feel like I'm giving him/her ideas. It was a bad decision, though it didn't seem so at the time. We should have continued to push the Quillion/Wes deadlock rather than make the Shimble/Wes one. Though, given my luck, Quillion would have ended up dying and being confirmed a Seeker.
  13. I just realized how ironic it is that I made a post talking about how the only way we could really help the Inquisitor more was by killing a Coinshot or a Seeker, then my vote helped to kill a coinshot.
  14. Crap, that wasn't what I wanted at all. This should have resulted in a deadlock. So two people soothed votes for Wes. Why? I can see one honestly suspecting that Shimble was the Inquisitor, but two? Peng's still not online. If he had been he could have told someone at least who Shimble was.
  15. Hmmm... FULL Shardbearer now ;)

  16. After listening to Herwynbe and looking back over the last couple days, I have to say that Shimble is definitely the most suspicious. I'm not sure I'll be able to maintain the deadlock, especially once the Soothers and Rioters come out, so I may as well vote for someone who's actually done something suspicious.
  17. Wait, here's a good question for Meta; if the player killed is UnSnapped, can the Inquisitor convert someone with a 50% chance of them gaining a random role? If they can... that pretty well invalidates the whole, "Wes's death won't help the Inquisitor very much because he's not a misting" argument. Although really, the Inquisitor already has a Lurcher for crying out loud. The only way we could really help him/her more than normally would be by killing someone who is a Seeker or a Coinshot. That's a pretty good list (much more useful than mine), Wilson, but not totally complete. I also voiced (or rather heavily implied) suspicion of Shimble. Edit: My list has been edited with new votes. I'll wait and see how the voting goes before trying to make a deadlock again though. Edit 2: Wilson, I'm pretty sure the Inquisitor can only convert one per night, but if a misting dies today, he can still convert someone to that role tonight.
  18. Since Aether hasn't been around for a while, I figure I may as well make a list Votes: Wes: (8) Peng, Kukri, Bartbug, Quillion, Gamon, Dyring, Lucy, Porridge Shimble: (8) Herwynbe, Aonar, Wilson, Maxil, Aspren, Vron, Eddy, Aether No one: (2) Seran, Cessie, Wes, Currently not voting: (7) Roban, Shimble, Grave, Mathieu, Digits, Windrunner Something else interesting to note; Shimble retracted his vote as soon as it looked like it was going to deadlock again. I won't make any accusations (since not wanting a deadlock doesn't necessarily make you evil), but feel free to take from this what you will. Edit: Changing my vote to no one, just for the sake of a deadlock. I really hope I don't have to go back and forth like this all the way until the write-up. Edit: Updated with Herwynbe's vote. Edit 3: Updated with Gamon's vote. Edit 4: Luckat pointed out that I forgot Windy. Also updated with Herwynbe's vote change. Edit 5: Updated just because.
  19. If I may ask, why Wes? What has he done that is suspicious? I know the only way we can be sure anyone is innocent is for them to be dead, but I don't want to kill anyone I don't have to. Does it have to do with which role he said he was? By the way, can you tell us the relative proportions of the roles you know, so we can guess at what the Inquisitor may be claiming to be? Edit: I'd be willing to vote Quillion for a deadlock (for now). I hope the rioter/soother doesn't decide to use his/her powers though.
  20. Wow, three deaths. At this rate, we'll all dead or converted before the fifth night is done. I have to agree with Aspren. I can mostly understand Peng taking out Lam, but losing Fnord means we have at least one trigger-happy coinshot somewhere who isn't opposed to killing on pretty well the slightest suspicion. We were lucky neither Fnord or Lam were coinshots themselves, if they had been, the Inquisitor would have been able to take out even more people next round. Right now, I'm still not sure we should kill anyone. I'm not voting yet, I'll wait and see how people react to Peng's vote, but after the next night we should have a much better idea of who's clean. Not only will there be at least one less suspicious person, but if the Inqusitor is smart, he'll have claimed to be a misting with one of the same powers he does, so knowing what power the Inquisitor doesn't have (assuming he converts someone) will let us narrow our focus considerably.
  21. Hmmm... Shardbearer now. :)

  22. I'm not sure we can really use examples from Elantris. Of all the books, it probably has the magic we know least about, and anyway, the theory I currently have says that the Elantrian version of Snapping is so much less potent than than other magic systems that it almost doesn't play a role. When I made my earlier post I was mostly replying to Shardbearer, since although Raoden could have what can be considered a broken soul, we still don't know enough to say for certain, so I was going to stick with my current theory (and still am). Snapping most definitely isn't the only factor in gaining magic either. There's all sorts of other contributors that at the moment we're only really guessing at.
  23. That's the thing, "something traumatic" isn't all it takes to Snap. Snapping, by my definition, is an event that completely redefines some part of who you are. Something that irreparably changes (or "breaks," if you prefer) a person's Spiritual Aspect. Naturally, traumatic events are more likely to cause this than events that aren't traumatic. Kelsier is a great example of how this would work; he likely went through a lot of pain and plenty of betrayal during his time as a crewleader, but I doubt that it really had that great of an affect on him as a person. However, after Mare betrayed him, and then was beaten to death right in front of him at the Pits, it really changed who Kelsier was, allowing his allomancy to come through.
