  1. Because I thought of this separately, and it had to do with different languages, and I didn't want to make an entirely new forum just for this one topic that would have just been a quick Boolean yes or no answer. I felt it was to small a thing to make an entirely new thread about. On the main topic of the thread, yeah, it was about translations of article titles in the articles themselves. Like a list of what different languages translate Stormlight as.
  2. There are only 4 Dawnshards, Hoid held one of the 4 but does not anymore. It is not a Shard of Adonalsium, it was just a Dawnshard. He held it before the Shattering as well. So it is as simple as that, he used to hold a Dawnshard.
  3. I remember it being stated that Snapping being deadly wasn't an intentional part of the arts, and was just Ruin's influence making it far deadlier. I have a rather vivid memory of this. And Allomancy isn't pure Preservation, just mostly Preservation. All 3 systems have aspects of both Shards. None of them are 100% one Shard and 0% the other.
  4. You are proving my point, he choose to because he could control Ruin. Not mad, but I am confused at how this is a rebuttal.
  5. Just listing family relationships, I feel it is relevant for a few familial relationships. Is what I was thinking.
  6. I have a massive theory about Roshar that I feel is likely true I have to first show a few WoBs to add a foundation to my theory. Okay, so we know Adonalsium created Roshar before the Shattering, and it has its own ecosystem. But I noticed a pattern in the wildlife: Whitespines, Axehounds, Lurgs, Chulls, Anticipationspren, one of the cremlings in Shallan's Sketchbook (it also has 2 claws, but 6 legs still stand out), all have 6 legs. Not legs, but Santhids have 6 fins. Pretty sure Larkin have 4 legs and 2 wings. Pretty sure Songlings also have 6 legs. Chasmfiends can be considered to have 6 main limbs, the 4 main supports and the 2 claws near the mouth. Plus, one of the Shards to arrive on the planet had a Fain vessel. So we know that it was from before the Shattering, that Fainlife has expanded outward in significant ways, that Tamu Keks (a fainlife object) and Gemhearts are very similar, and that a lot of Rosharan life has a lot of similarities to the distinguishing characteristics of fainlife. From a mere meta level, Dragonsteel and Stormlight Archive were essentially fused together, with the Shattered Plains being moved to Roshar, so what if fain got moved along with it? (not saying they aren't from Yolen anymore, just that they might also be from Roshar) Furthermore, we got a lot of talk about Uli Da (A fain Vessel) in the epigraphs for Stormlight. Furthermore, the Shard that is connected to all plant and animal life, is Fain (Koravellium Avast of Cultivation). I feel this would also in part describe why the ecology is so alien, when the other planets in the cosmere seem to only be slight variations on Trune Life. Roshar using fain as the basis for their evolution would make a lot of sense. As even with the weird conditions of Roshar, you feel they would keep a lot of the basic traits of Trune Animals, and not be completely and utterly different from them. So my theory is, that the first animals made on the planet by Adonalsium, were either fain, or modeled after fain. Brandon may have said we didn't see fainlife expanding off yet, but I feel he was being tricky by being like "well, they aren't completely fain", as in, they evolved enough on Roshar to be classified as something different. What do you think?
  7. The issue is that Snapping can kill you, which came from Ruin. Once Preservation and Ruin were brought under one Vessel (and Preservation stopped being held by a dying Vessel), Snapping became far safer.
  8. Ah, well, I just worry about giving myself rewards that don't exist, or something like that, and if I edit it myself it would just make me feel like that meme with an edited photo of Obama giving himself a medal. Would feel weird. Anyway, thanks for taking care of it. Much appreciated.
  9. Don't triple post, edit your previous posts.
  10. She is definitely trans-coded, I actually just think of her as trans period. As Sleepless are always they or it (except when people think they are who they are disguised as), so that essentially acts as a AGAB for them, and she appears to associate far more with feminine presentation and identification. So I would say she does in fact qualify. Brandon probably did research and talked to people, as he always does with stuff like this (as he doesn't want another Adien), he likes accurate presentation, and does his best to achieve it. It is something I really appreciate about him.
  11. Yeah, even if it would improve it, it would take way to much money and work and be really bad for the audience as well. But it would also require a lot of fundamental changes to cosmere cosmology and mechanics, that would increase the amount of changes hundredfold Also, what Alder and @Treamayne have said, many systems require snapping, and the danger of snapping in Scadrial mostly has to do with Ruin interfering. Era 2 has much safer snapping as Ruin is now controlled by Harmony alongside Preservation. Also, the effect of metals goes far beyond just the Metallic Arts, it also manifests in other ways Tress and Stormlight spoilers: So it all runs rather deep in overall cosmere mechanics.
  12. I can second everything said here, this is a very accurate summary and description of everything. Thanks. And yes, Brass and Electrum are swapped, that was indeed a mistake. Brandon kept it as he felt it would take a lot of work to fix, and due to the fact he felt it did well to communicate that the tables are an artificial classification of natural phenomena, and not necessarily something completely real. I am indeed rather annoyed by this decision, as it is the one break in symmetry. But what can you do?
  13. Very possible, we do know how manipulative they are, and how much they plan ahead.
  14. I feel a lot of these are based on not really understanding the text. I do not get what you are even trying to say in the mathematics portion, it is worded quite poorly and it is hard to decipher. Can you try to word it more clearly? Bendalloy and Cadmium do fit as Allomantic metals. And the reason why Atium has traits of Electrum is due to the fact it is an Atium-Electrum alloy, and Atium mistings are actually electrum mistings. Furthermore, Malatium has such traits as it is an alloy of Atium-Electrum and Gold, so it is all just about those traits. They were basing everything off of a limited understanding. Gold and Electrum are Internal Temporal, thus they just effect ones own perception of time. Whilst Cadmium and Bendalloy are external, and thus warp time around oneself. I see no hole in this. It follows the Internal-External dichotomy, Atium and Malatium were actually intentionally made to raise alarm bells as it so completely does not fit into the set, it breaks the pattern, and we were supposed to observe that and notice something was off about them. Also, I don't get your interpretation of Feruchemy in the slightest, and it makes far less sense than what we got in the finished product. Like why Happiness? I don't see any actually explanation for that, like, cosmerologically, how would happiness function? It is also way too specific, to the extent it has literally 0 use beyond like, feeling good for a little bit. I think you are making the mistake of Feruchemy being all about health, it isn't, it is about the storing and retrieval of attributes of oneself. I am not entirely clear where you came to a misconception about it being ideas of health and wellbeing. Wisdom is too abstract and undefinable to be stored, it literally just comes down to personal opinions. Furthermore, how does one store purpose? That is also way to abstract, undefinable, and down to personal opinion. It also doesn't really have any effects by storing or retrieving it as, by its very nature, it is unchanging (this is why the idea of having a set purpose is kind of ridiculous) On changing around which metals in physical went to which trait, I do not fully understand. Tin went with Senses as those correspond in Allomancy as well. Speed going to steel matches thematically with how Steel Mistings are fast via being able to push themselves around. Iron is about mass as you pull things towards you, which has a thematic connection with gravity. Constitution is redundant as it is about health and strength, which you already included. Therefore, it is just filling up a space covered by other metals. Determination doesn't make sense to be placed in Spiritual as it is an emotion, it is Cognitive. Lerasium has another effect when burned that we don't know about, becoming a Mistborn is just a side-effect. So we don't know the actual main effect of it, and it would likely be a plot point in Era 3. Identity is not connected to DNA, Identity is far more metaphysical in the cosmere, it is a trait stored in the Spiritual Realm. Again, I feel you do not fully understand the text, and are basing your theories and criticisms upon a limited understanding. Note: Also, don't double post or spam posting the same topic, it is against the rules.
  15. We know Silver disrupts basically all forms of Investiture, from a WoB and the fact that it can disrupt both Shades and Aethers. So, it 100% would have an effect on the Nightmares as well.
  16. Not fully related, but I do have a question due to the lack of a translation of one term. But it would require SA5 Prologue spoilers for context:
  17. A lot of things about Autonomy are still mysterious and not fully understood. They are a pretty major player in the greater arc of the cosmere, so we will learn more about them over time.
  18. Sorry for bothering staff with this question, but when are updates given out for awards? I lot of my awards are behind. 100 Edits and 50k Bits, when I am currently at 1,912 edits and 350,153 bits. When does staff go through to update awards on members? I am just wondering.
  19. Evidence it was Base 10? I feel it is implied it is still Base-16, they just translated numbers. I don't think you are supposed to read that they changed the base of their number system, especially as they kept the same writing system. So I do think that this assumption is ultimately headcanon. And also, I doubt that Brandon is going to make some massive change to what has been canon for so long to be like "Oh, actually, everyone lied about 16, even Hoid and the other Shards", I feel it would be very cheap and a massive ret-con. Especially as even after the release of TLM he keeps saying 16 and even mentioned that "we only have one shard left to reveal" (we know 15)
  20. Ah, my bad, didn't recognize it was repeated.
  21. So, I am like 99% sure the Maskless are the Deniers of Masks. Both are not on good terms with the rest of Southern Scadrial (we can see the Maskless are the only people to not shown the Consortium) Both have very similar names Both seem to shun the idea of masks Do you think the evidence is strong enough that I can just turn Maskless into a Redirect to Deniers of Masks? Or change the name of the page to the name used on the Map instead of just using what Allik called them?
  22. Hmm... that would make sense to have both. I just feel that the big category page shouldn't be the only way.
  23. Because placing it all in one place makes one have to go far more out of their way to get the translation of one term, as they would have to find that page and then scroll down a big list of countless terms in order to find it. It just makes it more steps and it takes longer. When it would be far quicker to find one term if it is just placed as a list on the page. Like, you aren't looking for every translation, you are looking for the translation of a specific term. This would only help for like, translators that need quick access to every term at once, and not normal people that are just like "I wonder what the translations for Dustbringer" are. I am just not a fan of the "lets bunch everything together in one place" type of approach to this. It would get especially confusing as you seem to want to make a separate list for each book, which would only increase the difficulty in finding what you want. It all just seems to be sacrificing accessibility and efficiency for the sake of putting it all in one place.
  24. While it looks nice, that seems a bit more unwieldy than having the translation for terms be a bit more organized, it feels a bit odd to make it a list of unrelated terms put into one table. Another reason is, as you said, doing it like this quickly makes it way too wide. Just having 5 languages makes it take up the entire screen.
  25. Have added Sel to the list Added Lumar, Drominad, and Threnody
