  1. The Platespren I feel would have some connection with Purple and Metal and Light. Probably not with water. I have a theory they might be about Captivityspren, as those are the exact opposite of them in such a way it paradoxically fits.
  2. Oh wait, yeah, I forgot to add a 1.1x, you're right. That would turn out as 69425.2373... I made a mistake there. Pretty easy mistake when there are so many steps across every formula I did. Which would change it to around 1.12609339186... AU. I would go and fix some things And don't be sorry, its fine.
  3. I did account for leap years on several steps. And on being different, this is what happens when you have so many equations which are put into equations which are put into equations. With a lot of exponents. Very small deviances grow over time. I got day length with the equation 500a= 365.2422 * 86400. With 365.2422 being the number on NASA's website. So I trust it is more accurate than 365.2425. I didn't really try on the Rotational Velocity at the equator because I don't fully get the equation for Equatorial Bulge magnitude. I tried it, but the equivalences didn't work out. 5/4 * (w2 * a3)/GM was dramatically different from (15π/4 * 1/(GT^2 p)), when they should be approximately equal. So I am doing something wrong there. But this would dramatically change what the velocity at the equator is, as perfect hydrostatic equilibrium of a massive rotating body is a silly myth. 1.12559551306 isn't too far from 1.125926551, not as much as you imply. They are the same to 3 decimal places, only off by around ~0.00031, not as much as you imply.
  4. Now, now, this isn't the Celeste discussion board.
  5. I have added a lot if you want to check again (and comment on the discrepancy in semi-major axis I ran into)
  6. Forgot to comment, this is very interesting, I like it. I am planning on making a new world tomorrow, not sure exactly what for, so I will make a list of a few: Movement or Motion (not sure what Shards it would be, might just make it its own Shard) Ruin Ruin + Odium Alternate Preservation and Ruin (and, not +)
  7. Hey, I am Firesong, I have already been her for quite a while as you can see from my post number and how much I work on the wiki. I simply decided it was around time to make one of these. I am a wind-tunnel fan of Brandon Sanderson and the Cosmere, I know that can be a rather controversial thing to be a fan of around these parts, and I hope that you can accept me despite this. I tend to speak at length and with great brio, I hope that is not a bother. I primarily just work on the wiki, expanding pages that are in dire need of expansion, and putting a lot of work into expanding relationship and personality sections, as those are some of the things I find most fascinating in literature. Looking into the fine details of a character's internal world, and how it shapes their interaction with those around them and with the society and culture around them, and how those themselves shape the character. I also find it fascinating to see how a character changes and evolves in subtle ways, and where said changes find their cause. I also do a lot of worldbuilding in the Combined Shards thread, which people inform me are rather good, though my talent be as real as the square root of -1, and my ineptitude grows faster than graham's function. Though I accept this paradox as reluctantly as a dehydrated camel accepts water. When not working on the wiki or typing on this forum, I am typically working on a fantasy worldbuilding project I have been working on for around a year now, and also working on writing a queer romance VN that I plan to release some day, for I have a talent in prose that may even rival Timothy Dexter. I enjoy playing video games, some of my favorites being Tears of the Kingdom, Hollow Knight, the Xenoblade Trilogy (haven't played X), Final Fantasy (I have played VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2, XII, XIII, XIII-2, XIII-LR, XIV, XV, and FF:BE), Disco Elysium, the Ace Attorney Trilogy and The Great Ace Attorney, Celeste, VA-11 HALL-A, the AI: The Somnium Files Duology, and such. I have been enjoying Nier Automata and Elden Ring a lot lately, as well. I feel quite fond of games such as Pathologic, but I have never personally played it. Outside of Brandon Sanderson there are a lot of book I like, I quite enjoy the The Poppy War Trilogy, House of Leaves, Lord of the Rings (and the extended History of Middle Earth books), Fyodor Dostoevsky's work, the Dune Saga, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Journey to the West, and Water Margin, Percy Jackson, War and Peace, and Les Misérables. I also really enjoy Hirohito and the Making of Modern Japan by Herbet P. Bix. (Poppy War and House of Leaves are both definitely for adults, especially the latter, so don't read them if you aren't one.) I am personally not a fan of Malazan or A Song of Ice and Fire, both for very different reasons that I will not get into here as I can rant about those for a while, and I shall not bore you with such pointless palaver. My interests include world history, anthropology; numismatics (modern and historical), though I find interest it in for a very different reason than that octogenarian mouse; literature (which I am aware is unexpected), various branches of science, mathematics as a whole, foreign culture and religion, and linguistics. I am currently teaching myself Japanese, with a strenuous schedule of only a few minutes every few days whenever I remember, it can be rather exhausting working this hard. But at least it is paying off, I am learning at the speed of a geriatric turtle with arthritis. And can expect can expect to read the immaculate and complex prose of a Level 0 Graded Reader by the time the sun becomes a big red boy. I do so hope we can get along.
  8. Dragonsteel is described as silvery.
  9. I did some maths on the Rosharan system, I am not going to share all the formulae, there are a lot. But I will show assumptions and the facts we know. So, we know that the Rosharan sun is a bit bigger than our sun, but not by much. I assumed 1.18 solar masses due to a few reasons that would come up later. We also know the Orbital Period is 1.1x the length of Earth's, these both let us make a lot of assumptions. It would make the sun only around 1.00004685954 Solar Radii, and make it 1.12559551306 AU away from Roshar (another calculation got 1.1261, which is still very close and I think one was just a mistake. This calculator is saying that the mass of the star and planet, with that distance, would be an orbital period of ~1.099, close, but less than 1.1. This is troublesome, but the difference from my own calculations are less than the change in distance from the sun that Earth goes over its orbit, which varies by 0.03341, so it shouldn't be too big an issue, this difference (between the 1.12559 and 1.1261 calculations, that is) is by 0.00050448694). The habitable area is between 1.12488603236 and 1.62056677971 AU. (This is why I assumed 1.18, as it is around the closer end of the Habitable Zone, and still is "only a bit larger" than our own sun. Surface temperature of the star would be around 6276.65381902 Kelvin, with a Luminosity of around 1.39190544437 Solar Luminosity or 5.353268339×10^26 watts. Thus an Apparent Magnitude of around -26.946, which is only a bit brighter than the sun in our own sky (−26.832) Every unit of 1 is 2.512x brighter, thus it is around 0.2512x brighter (my brain is blanking out about how to write this better for some reason, but it is brighter, despite how it looks, think 1.2515x would be correct). So, despite being further away, their day would actually be brighter than our own. We know they see their star as white, and if you look up a star colour chart, 6,000 to 7,500 K stars are yellowish-white, and have an apparent colour of white. And lookie there, 6276.65 K under my calculations. So that works out just fine. It would have an angular size of around 0.473 degrees, around 94.6% of the 0.5 of our own sun. This should still look around the same size as our own sun, maybe a bit smaller, but it would be hard to notice due to the glow distorting the size. Around what the Empire State building would look like 46200 metres away. Or around 90.96% the size of the moon. It would be noticeable, but not too dramatic. The differences in distance to the sun and the greater size of the sun actually roughly cancel out to make the apparent difference rather miniscule. Roshar: Mass: 3.296 * 10^24 kg Distance from Star: ~1.1261094201 AU Gravity: 6.86 m/s2 (0.7 Earth) Density: 4.3327028902 g/cm3 (0.78505216347 Earth Density) Surface Area: 4.029980895×10^11 m2 (~0.78833439464 Earth) Land Area: ~4×10^10 m2 (9.92560536692% total area) ( Standard Surface Temperature: 261.815853715 K (ignoring greenhouse effects and assuming albedo of 0.29) Orbital Period: 34,689,600 seconds (1.1 Earth Years) Rotational Period: 69425.2373 seconds, 0.80353283912 Earth Days Rotational Velocity: 1,845.131535 km/h (1.15320720938 that of Earth) Angular Velocity: 0.0000905028999761 rad/s Standard Gravitational Parameter: 156,642,212,401,043,768,235 m3/s2 Gravitational Time Dilation: 0.9999999996 seconds per 1 second without gravity (compared to the 0.9999999993 of Earth) Axial Tilt: 0° First Cosmic Velocity: 6,194 m/s2 (0.783059418458 Earth) Escape Velocity: 8,759 m/s2 (0.782053571429 Earth)
  10. Okay, yeah, that makes a ton of sense. Highspren look like space made sentient covered in stars, so makes sense to be connected to starspren. Yeah, I am convinced. (also hope we learn what we are seeing through them, like, is it a real location, or is it just Cognitive and Spiritual shenanigans causing them to form some appearance of a fictional location based on the platonic ideal of a starry night sky filtered through their Identity and Cognitive Ideal)
  11. Platespren colour also matches the colour , and Stonewards are a near-orange colour, and Painspren are orange. So that is further evidence. (Lightweavers and Creationspren don't exactly, but the official art of Lightweaver plate shows it as having a lot of silver, which does match. While Stonewards do have orange plate) I believe that: Bondsmith: Gloryspren (Dalinar always attracts so many Gloryspren, especially when he opened the Perpendicularity, Bondsmiths are also associated with gold) Flamespren: Dustrbingers (both are strongly associated with fire and rubies) Lifespren: Truthwatchers (Should be obvious, both really strongly associated with life and the colour green), but could also be Edgedancers, but the colour doesn't work Skybreakers: Gloomspren or Exhuastionspren? (based on colour matches and rather vague thematic connections)
  12. My theory is that is isn't some universal thing over all of Silverlight, it wouldn't be able to properly function as it does if it was like that. What I do think is it is more akin to like, a chamber or something they can opt into that does the dilation. That way they just are like, "I need to pass x years" and can go in and pass that long. Maybe it has to do with the 17th Shard, they have a crapton of Investiture there that essentially is comparable to like, a Psuedo-Shard, and they can use that to create dilation. Also, if it was like that, they wouldn't be able to have any universities, I feel. It would only have existed for 27.39 years if we assume it was made around the Shattering (extreme assumption, most likely was made far later). It would also not be able to diverge enough to have its own very recognizable accent (TLM shows they do have a recognizable accent amongst those born and raised there). More evidence, Iyatil was not born on Scadrial, but she has South Scadrian heritage and has the distinctive use of masks, which likely began to develop after the rise of the Lord Ruler, around 1300 years before Stormlight. She would be 3.5 years old if she was born and raised in Silverlight. Yet she looks like a grown woman. This implies non-trivial dilation, at least to that degree, is not universal to Silverlight. Probably why it is called Silverlight, it might be like Elantris and everything leaks Investiture as it is so saturated with it, and thus glows. @alder24 Brandon has said there is some time dilation going on with members of the 17th Shard and Ghostbloods. He just never said that much or elaborated upon how much or what they do to experience it. Just that it is happening in a non-trivial manner.
  13. We have kind of seen a Stoneward PoV, we have seen Taln's PoV, if you consider the Herald of an Order to essentially be a part of it (even if they technically aren't). But that is the closest we have so far.
  14. Small correction, Silver is more about disruption than destruction, Investiture cannot truly be destroyed. What it does is heavily disrupts Investiture in a way that is harmful to Invested entities. Basically, it is destructive to Invested Entities, not to the Investiture itself. If it was the Investiture itself, you would be seeing massive explosions whenever you use silver. You get what I mean? But yeah, he wouldn't be able to be safely sealed in a silver box. But probably could be in an aluminum one, like Nergaoul was sealed in (after sealing him in a polestone).
  15. Ah, no biggie, just making sure. And yeah, probably. A bit hard to find a word as there are a lot of similar ones with very different connotations. Cunning and Guile I don't think fit with the description we got in WoK.
  16. What do you mean? Latter only works in a list of two, so I am curious if you meant the second, or were using an expanded abstraction of the term to mean "The ending element in a list"
  17. We aren't trying to be rude, sorry. We simply just disagree with you, and I apologize for getting overly rude. And I am curious in how we were supposed to know it was a joke? I am not trying to be rude here, I am genuinely wondering, as I didn't really see anything comedic about ad hominid towards strangers. I am not upset anymore, simply confused. Such jokes don't work when talking with people you are not close to, especially over a text-based medium where the communication of tone is difficult. It becomes difficult to discern if something is a joke or not. Anyway, we aren't trying to hurt you, we are just trying to discuss the topic. We do not think we are better than you, we just want to discuss the topic.
  18. I do wonder if he is holding it off as there is something special about that Shard, or if he didn't find a chance to bring it up, or if it was like a Shard 15 scenario where he is taking a while to find the right name for it.
  19. Not just per WoB, they also mention the Shard twice in Stormlight, just in cryptic ways. The one I remember best is the Epilogue of Way of Kings. Hoid mentions three scholars, two of them turned out to be Vessels for Shards we now know, and the third valued wisdom and acumen. I think I also remember some quote of like "wisdom and I have always been at cross purposes, and I never learned the language in which she speaks" (paraphrased)
  20. I guess it makes sense with Odium. As Odium is directly taken from Latin, instead of being a word that naturally evolved into English. A dead word adopted into a modern tongue. So it makes sense it would be the same, it is just taking it from a different language.
  21. I remember Brandon saying it doesn't completely remove limits. But looking more, he did say it can remove that limit, yeah. So, yeah, it would remove that issue. But they would still have a lot of limits.
  22. At least the other ones we have make it so we can narrow it down a lot. But it is ultimately hard to fully decide, yeah. Hope some of those Unmade in Shinovar are some we haven't seen much of yet. We can be sure at least that SA4.5 will deal with Moelach, as he is in the Horneater Mountains during the time of SA4. Something strange, the Orders seem to still have axial symmetry (Honor and Cultivation), while the Surges have Rotational Symmetry (Odium). Maybe this implies that the Void Orders are closer to Surge Orders, while the Surges manifest in a far more different way? Furthermore, they all only have one axis of symmetry, but the Void Truthwatcher one (centre bottom), has two. It stands out, no other Order glyph, Void or Surge, has two axes of symmetry. The Void Edgedancer one (right to the one I just mentioned) is very close, but ultimately only has one axis of symmetry. So, 19/20 only have vertical symmetry, but not vertical. This can't be an accident, as it isn't some random Order, it is one of the ones in the central gem, and doesn't have any connecting Surges. (also, the glyph can be broken down into R-Sh-R. Which can mean Rishir, as the rest break down into Silver Kingdom names... but it can also be translated as Roshar.)
  23. True, but Elsecallers don't have the Connection control. I feel that Moelach fits there or in Truthwatchers, though. Corrupted Truthwatchers see the future. But I am still thinking about how Chemoarish has a lot of the features of Mistspren, with the solid face on an elemental body, and how she is conflated with the Nightwatcher, makes me feel there is some reason why she would be confused with her, and also "The wealth of it makes sorting lies from truths extremely difficult." it does bring up Truth. And also confusion with another being with watcher in the name. It just makes sense in my head, but it feels a lot weaker when I say it out loud. But we ultimately know basically nothing about Chemoarish, so it is hard to go in detail.
  24. Oh boy, a lot of reasons Sja-Anat and Edgedancers She is a very loving mother (Loving) She sees what she does to Spren as healing and Enlightening (Healing), but it also is seen by others as corruption (an Inversion of Healing) She is mostly seen in reflected glass (Quartz, glass, crystal) this means reflected light (Lucentia, which is a Latin term for glowing or light) Her eyes are always focused on, they are always white compared to the black of the rest of her (Body Focus Eyes) Her eyes are always white (Edgedancers are associated with the colour white) Edgedancers are very religious, she is basically an inversion in how she wants to be her own god. Nergaoul and Dustbringers: Dustbringers are associated with Red, Nergaoul is red Dustbringers are associated with ruby, ruby is the polestone of Dustbringers, and Nergaoul was sealed in a ruby (And Yelig-nar was sealed in Amythest, and Jezrien was sealed in a Sapphire, these associations matter) Dustbringers are associated with Bravery, and the Thrill instills a bravery in people that is so strong they lose sight of any danger "The Thrill didn't hate. Though some spren could make decisions, others were like animals—primal, driven by a single overpowering directive. Live. Burn. Laugh. Or in this case, fight." Burn, it associated it with Burning, and Chach is about the Essence of Spark and Soulcasting Property of Fire. Another aspect of Chach is Obedience, and embracing the Thrill makes one more obedient to Odium. Dustbringers are associated with their destructive power, like that brought forth from the Thrill Under the influence of Nergaoul, Dalinar burned down all of Rathalas, which is a big use of fire. (Less clear, but I thought I should mention it) Dustbringers are about self-control and self-mastery, and Nergaoul makes one lose self-control Yelig-Nar and Willshapers: Yelig-nar is sealed away in an Amythest (Willshaper Polestone), and he makes Amythest grow from the consumed's body and forms a large Amethyst gemheart. He shines with a purple light (Colour of Willshapers) Willshapers are all about making ones own choices, and Yelig-nar inverts this by consuming their wills Wllshapers are builders, but Yelig-nar breaks down both body and soul. Furthering this idea, Kalak is associated with preservation, and Yelig-nar brings forth ones own destruction. They are about freeing those in bondage, Yelig-nar puts one in bondage. (and is also bonded himself, kept locked away in a gemstone until consumed) Guess the creation of carapace fits a bit with the body focus of Nails. Carapace is a similar material. (Vague, I know) Lightweavers and Re-Shephir: We see a lot about how opposed Re-Shephir is to Lightweavers She is a creative force (as in one that creates), but is not creative, in that she can only copy (Creative Trait both manifesting as itself and its inverse) She appears to have a very good memory with what she copies Her mere presence distorts the artist creations of Lightweavers and makes them feel a sense of wrongness Imitation like this is essentially a form of dishonest (Inversion of Honest) She does show a particular attraction to violence and the shedding of blood (blood being associated with Shash and Lightweavers) Lightweavers are associated with 6, and her Nightmare Essences in the Starfalls vision are pointed out as being six-legged. The Death Rattle about Re-Shephir happened in the month of Shash (Shashabev) Windrunners and BAM: She is a Highprincess of the Void, who wanted to lead the Singers (Leading) She manipulates connection a bunch (Which is either Bondsmiths or Windrunners, and we don't have a Bondsmith Unmade) Ashertmarn and Stonewards: Stonewards are associated with Resourcefulness, and Ashertmarn brings one to waste massive amount of resources, both consuming a bunch, and letting a bunch rot (massive inversion of Resourcefulness) Stonewards are Dependable, and those taken by the Revel cannot be depended upon as they become completely obsessed with their own decadence. We see when Aesudan gets taken, she can't be depended upon as Queen. Furthering this, he encourages one to abandon their responsibilities. It kind of uses an abstract idea of Cohesion, taking the firm and dependable, and making them soft and easy to twist and mold into decadence. Also, I edited the comment to include Silver Kingdom associations from a user who tried to translate them. And I am completely convinced on some of them (Thalath and Shin Kak Nish, particularly)
