Maybe I've missed the reason, but why can't the lightweavers lightweave sand that has gone white back to black? Like, let it change color all it wants in the presence of Investiture -- it doesn't matter if the lightweaving on top prevents anyone seeing it.

I think this bit of dialogue speaks volumes: I interpret that as Syl saying that Kal -- their relationship -- is what home is to her. If that interpretation is correct, there are major romantic vibes here.

I very much hope that the promise of His Majesty Kaladin Stormblessed is fulfilled -- he is already a natural leader and a radiant, a darkeyes who became a lighteyes, and who therefore understands both parts of the society well enough to unite them. Besides, if Syladin happens, he will have a spren for a queen (I think with Ishar's experiments, spren might make it to the PR, so that could be useful). And it does open up a whole new arc for Kal in the back five books of SA. Long live the King!

True, it does seem a little on the nose, but if Kaladin ascends, learning to write should take about a minute. Who are the other possible candidates then? It would be interesting if it was Szeth, as in the knight of Truth, who had thought himself Truthless

I doubt that. I think Sigzil wouldn't have believed the tall figure in the uniform to be Kal if he knew his friend had grown old. But I agree, Kaladin doesn't seem the type to turn into a cognitive shadow. So... I suppose that's what expert teasing looks like. Brandon knew that line would send us theorizing and made it completely impossible to decipher
