  1. I think there is enough to suggest that there was no widespread discrimination against Lighteyes with red irises, there might be some bullying happening on an individual level, but I wouldn't expect people with red irises to "go extinct" - especially that at least half of Roshar isn't influenced by Vorinism. But even under Vorinism I doubt people would be concerned by red irises. The recreance happened far before this scene, indeed, I feel your quote furthers the point that red lighteyes are not prominent enough to be broadly known of in society or else Shallan wouldn't have been surprised that the singer had red eyes. Further, the evidence is there that to historic scholars, red eyes were in fact associated with the voidbringers. Even while the Knights Radiant were around, the reputations of the orders of the Dustbringers and Lightweavers likely wouldn't have helped the case of light-eyed humans, as the Dustbringers were considered the most dangerous and reckless of the orders(right?) and the Lightweavers were naturally masters of deception, both of which, while put to good use, are easily misunderstood by the general populace.
  2. Really? I kind of imagined them being controlled by a script that just searched for places to sign up and automated that + posting. Either way, my idea was mostly just goofy, but I do wish you mods didn't have to deal with them (You already have enough to do, keeping the forum up and running).
  3. Solo and ensemble is early tomorrow morning.

Manifest success for me you guys

      It worked you guys.

      I'm going to state!

  4. YKYASF When you are excited that the timing of your mission means that you'll get to fill in everyone's Cosmere drought by reading SA5 once you get back (Plus Dan's and Isaac's works). When you have Devotion as a vocab word and all you can think of is the shard. When you see Cosmere references in Discworld (Mrs. Arcanum, for one).
  5. I played viola for 3 years, but never heard about these "positions". Are they the fingerings on string instruments, like slide positions on the trombone?
  6. The mods ought to add some sort of Sanderson trivia question to the signing up process, kind of like the ReCaptcha, but more effective. It could literally be "What city is Vin from?" With answers Luthadel, Chicago, New York, and Detritus. It would wipe out 1/4 of all the bots, and you could even put a little discrete notice somewhere else on the signup page so them bots won't be able to find it but even people who haven't read Mistborn can still answer the question correctly. If it fails, maybe the system can still create the account, but flag it, and block it from any action until a mod can review it. Now I want to summon a mod to see what they think of this idea.
  7. Celebrant Edit: I'd like to change my guess to the Nexus of Imagination
  8. You sure you're not a bot?

You're stabbing those bot's with superhuman frequency.

  9. I just shared some theories on the meanings of death rattles, and I absolutely forgot how fun theorizing could be.

  10. I feel like this is either a reference to the Recreance, or to the Skybreaker's specifically, who didn't partake in the Recreance, and have since turned to Odium's side. I have to concur that this one is an everlasting weeping, or even something similar, but not just rain persistently pouring down. Or I guess it could be that something major happens during the weeping. Do we know what month the weeping happens(Is Palah the last month of the Rosharan year? Seems like a coincidoink to me.) The timing just adds up I think. I propose that this is from the singer's perspective. Somehow those who serve with Dalinar all get sent to Braize. (Maybe some trickery will occur with the contract.) Or this could be a renewed oathpact(see below). Humans burning land behind them as they retreat, breaking the contract and subjecting them all to Braize. A new oathpact. Heck, it could be Dalinar and 9 other people who become Odium's oathpact and are forced to keep the human's of Roshar penned up on Braize. Or, and this is kind of out there, it's some of those Rosharan humans who managed to forge a new oathpact while on Braize, and this is a reference to the events of the back 5 where they free themselves. I think this is the Recreance again, or a new recreance when the humans get kicked to Braize. (I know, I'm really leaning into that theory, but it really feels like these death rattles are implying it. Obviously the orbits of Roshar and Ashyn align when the endless weeping begins, such that Roshar is "ahead" of Ashyn , but soon falls "behind" (As Ashyn has a shorter orbit that Roshar). Maybe someone is still on Ashyn, even after the exodus (is it that much of a stretch see spoiler below), and they end up being important to freeing the humans stuck on Braize. AA (Sorta SP4 too) spoilers Nightwatcher ? At the end of SA10, Odium has been splintered too, or escaped Roshar, leaving Cultivation as the only shard present. Spoilers for certain snippets of unreleased books not to be named here(for fear of accidently giving away important points) Obviously these are pretty wild guesses, and honestly, it's a really dark outlook, so please poke holes in it. Just be nice, I haven't done real theorycrafting in a while.
  11. I was there for the announcement at dragonsteel. Totally pumped for it.
  12. The other side of the horneater pool
  13. Amazing, especially those gauntlets. And the rivets on the tassels stand out as well.
  14. You know, I don't know. It was either just one or far more than 3.
  15. Tis what happens when business is booming. And Brandon is big these days.
  16. Is that the new one or is it old? I already mentioned, but I have BGA. I can't afford Tabletop Simulator, or I'd leap at the chance.
  17. I need to know what book and chapter that Renarin scene is. Also, I got to help put on a production of clue last year and it was quite fun. One last thing, and I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion, but I just don't like Jasnah. Probably it's just harder for me to connect with her than other characters, but I find her stuck up, and feel like her trying to bring democracy to Alethkar as a way of virtue signaling as opposed to with Elend, where I really felt his desire for the people's good. This whole thing may just be because I connected with so many other characters first, or it may just be that I don't like her.
  18. Why are we defending @ΨιτιsτηεΒέsτ? He does not need defended. I almost attached my 1098-t to this. That would have been bad.
  19. You have to copy the characters and hope the @ works when you paste them. It's already iffy enough when you use normal characters typed in, but copy paste makes in a whole new level of obnoxious.
  20. Who'd going to FSY this year?

I got in this year, I'm hoping it's really fun (also, I'm not going with anyone I know, so hopefully the Lord puts fun people there too) :P

  22. HP is far from my favorite book series, but I completely respect those who love it. To me it's a very juvenile series (I read the whole series in a week or two back in third grade). Plus it breaks one of Brandon's laws of magic, and the most important one (the only one which can upset me when broken), as so many times Harry gets out of things via unexplained, unseen before, etc. magic. LoTR is understandably not people's favorites. I agree that the prose is thick and hard to process, and I see now that character development is non-existent for the most part, however, Tolkien created a mythology that I expect Brandon would agree is just amazing. @Thaidakar the Ghostblood also made a great point about everyone copying Tolkien, and it definitely has lessened the magic of the books. Neither is overrated or underrated in my opinion, I just like one and don't like the other. Both definitely has historic value and HP has value in that it has helped people get into reading, a major plus. LoTR has value in that (from what I hear) it helped bring us a number of other great stories.
