  1. I would love to have a working version of towers but the rules are hard to pin down. There was talk of terrain affecting combat, how is that determined? I also don’t have my books around but Kaladin knows how to play towers and tries to explain some rules to the parshmen during rythm of war so that would be good context. I’ll look it up later if no one beats me to it
  2. I agree, I don’t think the skybreakers will know what happened to Nale. With that said I think there will likely be schisms amongst the skybreakers. Some will follow retribution but without Nale around to keep the order together some splinter groups could form
  3. I think there might be a little more headyway made when it comes to understanding Light/Towerlight but I do worry we won't see much advancement without Navani. I think they could extrapolate from what she left behind, such as herding spren but besides that I wouldn't count on much. I wonder where they will continue to get gemstones cause they crack over time if used in a fabrial right?
  4. I don’t have a perfect interpretation but I thought this was referring to Shallan, the darkened twin would be formless the captive would be Ba-Ado-mishram im not sure about the wall of grief but shallan living her past could metaphorically be a mountain of grief
  5. I thought Mraize mentioned both the kites and the ocean in the sky, but almost like how someone would list countries or examples. In the same sentence but not necessarily connected. I would guess whimsy cause that seems pretty random
  6. As far as meat goes the Lightweavers could help soulcast meat so its not just Jasnah
  7. As far as thaylen rebellion goes I agree it seems unlikely they will openly rebel but it will be the best human city as far as rights/independence go. If you sneak non-thaylens into the city to rebel they maybe be able to get assistance such as places to hide or less fused than in other cities. Not as helpful as an open ally but probably a better place to start than a different empire. And for what its worth Thaylen may be in a better spot than Azir right now. True the weather is worse in Thaylenah but they have allies and can travel and trade. The people in Azir have freedom and independence but we don't really know how their neighbors will treat them. They won't get attacked because of Retribution's oath but that doesn't guarantee they will trade with them.
  8. As far as ecology goes (mistborn spoilers) So I wouldn't be suprised if Retribution changes things for animals and plants so they survive better but doesn't change any of the humans or parshman so they become dependent on him
  9. I will say that I have heard Endowments is the most "no strings attached" off all investiture due to the shards intent. I do think it still has its own identity but maybe its easier to remove than stormlight?
  10. Its interesting that Shallan can form plate around others just like Kaladin, the difference being she needs to be touching them while Kaladin did not. I think the difference is because of the type of spren. I imagine wind spren are faster/more free while creationspren would have a hard time shooting across a room. I think its safe to assume each shard plate will have a different ability but they might not be that flashy. I don't think its worth much but in Dalinar's vision where he fights the midnight essence creatures doesn't he see a edgedancer with plate in that vision?
  11. If they turned into a bird would they also need the feathers like they need to use the hair of mammals?
  12. I think its unlikely but I would be interested. Not sure what the plot would be, most loose ends were cleaned up by the end of it.
  13. Good question endowment would probably involve colors/rainbows, the feeling of giving and receiving things? for Ruin I though kelsier described looking at Ruin was like watching things collapse, I’ll look later and edit my post
  14. Less of a theory and more of a question. Dalinar is being put on a path to ascend to Honor, there are theories about if it will work or if Kaladin will get it and things like that. Lets say that someone on the good side gets it, what actually changes? If Honor is suddenly on the playing field are they also bound by Dalinars agreement and the contest of champions continues? Does the agreement get renegotiated? Does Honor reforming change anything about Roshar? Either the magic systems in place or the Highstorms? Genuinely curious to see what others think. I think we could see more of Honors God metal like how Odium has been manifesting his but that would probably be after the new Vessel gets used to being a shard.
  15. I think its possible but difficult. If a coinshot was fighting within a mine for example I could see that being enough exposure to find anchors within the rock. In everyday life I think its unlikely they would be able to do so.
  16. I was reading the sample chapters and it sounds like Shallan's squires have been making progress with their oaths offscreen. It sounds like each has spoken at least one truth. What truths do you think they spoke? Vathah - Maybe is that he cares more about his men than at first glance? Gaz - I think they will revolve around his gambling and how he treated the bridgeman, maybe his later truths will accept that he makes a better lightweaver than windrunner Red - Something about his sense of humour? Shob - His first truth was probably that he isn't as sick as he claims Beryl - no idea Ishnah - something about her criminal connections? Any ideas?
  17. What book is that picture from? I want to try and match up the rivers to a map of the physical realm.
  18. So what do you think is going on with the rock in Kaladins pack? The quote I think its likely that it could be Fortune/Spiritual realm shenanigans similar to Tien's horse but there is another option. I think there is a small chance its a proto Peakspren looking to bond Kaladin. We learn that We learn that in the pictures between chapters in I think Oathbringer or maybe RoW I do not think its the most likely option but it is interesting to consider. I also think its possible because the horse is easily identified as connected to Tien, if the rock is also related to Tien why wasn't it described as "Tien's rock" or "a rock that Tien would have liked" It is also interesting that Leyten specifically says he didn't pack it, which by implication makes it sound like he did put the horse there because he was only surprised by the rock. I think adding a peakspren gets in the way of kaladins 5th ideal for this book but maybe its set up for stormlight 6-10 What do y'all think?
  19. Okay I have been thinking about death rattles for a while, I found it kind of weird that when Kaladin meets up with Dalinar he specifically mentions that he is wearing the kholin glyph which a tower and a crown... Could be harmless but makes me think that Kalading may have to pick up Urithiru or something? I feel like there is foreshadowing for Kaladin never coming back from shinovar though.... Very hard to tell
  20. I think its tough to create a pattern off of only one example but it is a good question. I think a fair assumption is they could all manifest as spiritual aspects or an increased connection to the spiritual realm but that might not be the case for all orders. I think it would be interesting if the resonance influenced some aspect of their order outside of their surges. At first glance, I wouldn't suggest that glimpses into the spirutual realm or increased fortune are related to transformation or illumination. It does seem to be in bounds for an magic artist though. So I wonder if the resonance will be more abstract but fit the tone of each order. This makes it hard to predict and I am likely wrong Edgedancer - some ability like hoid to be in the right place or right time, to find people who need to be listened to, maybe something to do with using progression on animals? That would match the tone as with progression they are the more "nature" based order Windrunner - people find them more trusting? Maybe like a connection ferring because of double spiritual adhesion? Skybreaker - No clue, potentially could look to Nale because of his bond + honorblade but I would not be surprised if that is a different case) Elsecaller - maybe increased memory like a coppermind to help them make logical decisions? Just brainstorming
  21. The stealing faces is very interesting. I am a little worried about stepping on toes of kandra or hemalurgy but it can also be branded as a pattern throughout the cosmere. The entire thing does sound cool I imagine carvings on both sides of the mask to channel the Dor. It would be wild if this was real and they could go to roshar to get a whitespine transformation.
  22. I was thinking about making an amplifier fabrial with contained emotion spren, the idea is that whoever you touch with this glove-fabrial will feel that emotion. If you shook someone’s hand while a joy spren is contained they might be more open to listening to you, if you touched someone with a fear spren they may become intimidated. I like it as a new version of rioting that has a few more limits than an AoE I’ve heard about The other idea I’ve had is a Fabrial flash bang, but a rainbow spren in the Fabrial and make it amplify through a pewter cage and you could disorient enemies with a flash of color
  23. Szeth did kill Taravangian, at least his physical body. Even if we want to try and split hairs he had the intention to kill him and would have if a shard had not also shown up at the same time. I know there have been some of these quotes already in this forum but I wanted to make a list of relevant passages in the same place to make it more clear. Clearly Szeth had the intent and at least stabbed Taravangian with a steel knife.
  24. StanLemon mentioned it but you can see a lot of similarities in the metals used in Fabrials on Roshar to the metals used on Scadrial. If you are looking at threnody (from shadows and silence from the forest of Hell) And I think tress as well I would be interested to see what effect metals have on other forms of investiture such as shades, the hion on Komashi. With the hion specifically I think Painter said they can be cultivated and manipulated. I wouldn't be surprised if its with iron and steel tools.
  25. It would be interesting if by acting within preservations intent you could draw on the mists. I feel like Vin does it whenever she needs an extra boost in a fight which doesn't mesh with preservations intent but it was part of his plan so maybe that is why it was okay? For Wax I can't remember the specific moments but I think they generally fall under the category of him fighting to preserve something, like the city or the law.
