I think thats the closest surge to this ability for sure. This is interesting because it makes me wonder can a dustrbringer decay memories? Could the fused that uses Division decay memories? If a form of power can do it then I don't see why a Fused wouldn't be able to. There is the chance this is only canon until it conflicts with something else but it is interesting.

Spoilers from the Cosmere RPG, the beta had more information on Parhsendi forms

I agree that each spren can make a choice so there can be exceptions but we have seen all star spren only bond those being initiated into Nales skybreakers. So even if there was a suitable candidate somewhere else on Roshar they didn’t select them. This could come down to the specific variety of Spren but it provides a precedent of a type of Spren only bonding people one a specific group. One could argue that honor Spren do the same. They only bonded people in kaladins squads. Makes me wonder if there’s a correlation to the radiant orders being established if random/grass roots radiants popping up across Roshar become less likely. We really can’t say for sure but with the current information it seems likely modern willshapers will be Parshendi.

See above for the question. I’m just curious will all willshaper a be Parshendi/parshmen? I can’t find any WoB about it.

I think the point of the post is just to explore what a world would be like if Ruin was the one who had imprisoned Preservation. There would have to be some things tweaked to make it work but ultimately if Brandon had wanted that outcome then he could have made it happen. I think this idea could be the same as imaging what if Kaladin was a villain and Moash was the hero. We know that is not the way things happened or the most likely option but its fun to think of alternate ways things could have gone. Maybe every time Ruin gets close to ending the world a hero manages to get to the well of ascension and use it to push Ruin back for the next 1000 years. I think a version of the lord ruler who is a hero trying to keep civilization from collapsing after becoming immortal would be interesting. I think this world would be unique because hemalurgy would be more common, feruchemy wouldn't need to be in hiding and might even be encouraged by the Lord ruler. Allomancy would be rare or unknown except for people who had gotten to the well of ascension or found lerasium somewhere. It would also be interesting because hypothetically if there were inquisitors it would be tough for them to find allomancers to spike so they would primarily have feruchemy related spikes. I imagine there would be large number of kolos but I would assume we could also see new hemalurgic constructs that would be cool to see. I've had a pet theory of a tin version of kolos being possible, one with 4 tin spikes instead of Iron spikes. Instead of have 4x the strength of a normal person they would have 4x the senses of one. Maybe they would have oversized eyes, ears, or noses. Would be interesting if they were used for tracking instead of inquisitors using A-bronze

A strange idea I had going of the faint traces of atium/Lerasium being in the water. In order for people to get the benefits of the metal they have to burn them right? What if the traces are so small people don't realize they have atium/lerasium in their system? Kelsier said allomatic metals left in your body for extended periods could be bad for you so it could also be some kind of "metal plague" where inhabitants of the basin get sick due to the metal in their system. Kind of far fetched but would be interesting.

Its been a second since I read shadows of silence but I thought Tensoon says that Lessie was against the plan to have her get killed so Wax would go back to Elendel, but when the opportunity presented itself she agreed to trust Harmony and play along. So if it does turn out to be Lessie who moved I would vote that Harmony took control over her like Ruin would in era 1. This seems to land more in line with what we know. In the actual book it says It is from Wax's point of view so he may not be a reliable narrator. Bloody Tan also doesn't seem suprised that his captive moved into the bullet's path. I think its more likely that Tan is doing something. Also relevant WOB I found after typing above So he wasn't influenced by Harmony. I am not sure if Lessie moving herself would fall into the category of "one of his agents"

How exactly does stormlight healing work and what are it's limits?
Elite01 replied to Nomad8's question in Cosmere Q&A
I dunno I could see the hair staying dyed. If your hair color fades unnaturally a little every day but you consider yourself to have the same color of hair and you used stormlight consistently I could see it happening. I think if Lopen can be missing an arm for a while and still consider himself to have two arms to have it heal then I think hair color is on the table. I agree its more than method acting. It has to be how you genuinely see yourself. -
You could create a seperation in the pits depending on the prisoner. Non-allomancers have to climb through the pits and allomancers stay on the surface being imprisoned or doing manual labor. We would lose a little bit of the tragedy of Mare giving Kelsier an atium bead but I think it would change the backstory the smallest amount.

Not a weapon but what about shard sunglasses? Shardplate can become semi transparant right?

In era 2 the mists no longer appear every night like they did in era 1. There doesn’t seem to be a set pattern unless Harmony wills it during pivotal moments. I was thinking about highstorms and how it and the mists are magic influenced weather phenomena. High storms can be predicted by a series of math equations and algorithms. Given that information do you think it’s likely that given enough time a scadrian could study the mists and learn to predict when they will happen similar to storm wardens? Mist Wardens?

For what it’s worth truthwatcher seems to match the ideals of its surges illumination - truth progression - looking out for the average citizen combine the two and you get an order of knights who want to find truth for the general good of people, providing contrast to lightweavers individual truth.

I agree seems likely. Do you think it would be a matter of time like burning Electrum for X minutes to get the result you want? Or could you improve it by practice?

I was reading on the coppermind and found this quote So let’s say hypothetically the pure form of atium has a similar ability to the electrum-atium. Maybe you can see shadows of yourself and other objects to keep things simple. If everyone could burn atium in era 1 how would things change? Would it still be used primarily by mistborn due to its rarity? Would Ham have been given any? Would a random allomancer have atium to keep mistborn on their toes? Generally I think the plot would stay the same. What do you guys think would change in era 1 if anyone could burn it?

Just thinking this over and trying to find matches for the surges we do know transformation could be invention, both are focused on creating new things. In a weird way I could see endowment also matching because you have to “give” whatever is being soulcasted Stormlight in a kind of negotiation. Of the two I would pick invention

A Truth Sought Ardently: The story of an Ardent Lightweaver
Elite01 replied to Atlas333's topic in Sanderson Fan Works
Great job with the fic, zahel is an ardent so there’s a connection there but he’s a martial ardent. I guess it depends on what the goal is for when he gets to the tower. Does he spend time with ardents or does he transition to being a knight radiant. -
Potential ways the Surge of Transportation can be used
Elite01 replied to Elite01's topic in Stormlight Archive
Ah gotcha I stand corrected, the rest seems legit for other orders so I don’t see why that wouldn’t be the case for the Transportation surge. -
Potential ways the Surge of Transportation can be used
Elite01 replied to Elite01's topic in Stormlight Archive
I haven’t reread way is kings in a bit but I thought that was in reference to the oathgates? Which is teleporting but between two set locations. So maybe the surge of Teleportation can let anyone teleport to anywhere but Brandon usually prefers set restrictions on powers. So you could do connection like being familiar with the area or person, line of sight or like I mentioned teleporting to a spren/shardblade -
That could happen, or he becomes odiums champion and becomes the roshar version of ironeyes/the bogeyman

Great analysis. I wonder if there will be open trade with the southern scadrians to get these medallions into Elendel. Maybe allowing access to the more obscure feruchemical powers they get medallions in return? I don't see them discovering the secret of the exscisors offscreen. Whoever the main characters are in era 3 could be gifted them or maybe the elendel basin will have a stockpile of confiscated medallions if relations are more hostile. This isn't as directly related but I wonder how we will see hemalurgy in era 3. I agree that I don't think they will be mainstream by era 3 but I could see things in the background being set up for it to become more popular. Something like a broadsheet debating about the ethics behind a proposed bill to spike death row prisoners who have rare abilities, something like that. I just wonder how the common people will learn about it. The Set knew about it and Wax/Marsai knew about it. Would either of them do anything with that knowledge?

I wonder if some people will start to follow the path Dalinar is taking. I can't remember if he says he is trying to correct the current vorin church or create a new one but people could start to worship "the God beyond honor" which is basically Adonalsium. I think this is unlikely because most people seem to be opposed to what he is doing. Some people could turn to worshipping Odium depending how SA5 ends Atheism could be popular or they could start to seperate religion from government but I have no idea how that would play out in a medieval setting. Didn't Gavilar claim to have a divine right to conquer/rule? If Vornisim is abandoned it could mean bad things for the kingdom but I also think I remember Jasnah having plans to be the last Alethi monarch so I feel like if any King/Queen can navigate that it would be Jasnah.

I’m hesitant about the Kandra theory because it goes against what we know about Kandra society serving harmony but it could happen. It could even be peaceful Kandra who just use metallic bodies and don’t focus on shapeshifting. I would find that more believable. My best theory is that Harmony/Sazed is experimenting with hemalurgy maybe. Trying to find a new hemalurgic construct that will help him in the future. He’s the only one who has the knowledge for new constructs besides the ones discovered by the set but I’m pretty confident that was done through I know it’s not really evidence but Kalkis always seemed close to kolos to me. Maybe harmony wants to find a way to create giant armies like the lord ruler did but doesn’t want to use kolos so is trying a new method.

Wind and Truth: What is the loophole? [Discuss]
Elite01 replied to r0cketm00se's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think Odiums end game is to find a way to void the contract, either by getting Dalinar to break the contract or to end in a tie which I don't think the contract covers. I think this because either way if Dalinar wins or loses humans win because the war ends. The main con of losing is Dalinar becomes a fused but generally speaking Odium loses no matter what. Loop holes I could see -Odium chooses a champion Dalinar does not want to kill, basically the child champion theory. I don't want to go on a tangent but feel like the champion has to be willing and Odium could try and corrupt someone but he failed with Dalinar and has really only gotten Moash to join his side so other characters like Renarin, adolin, Szeth or Gavinor seem unlikely to me but anything could happen I have seen a crazy theory that a good character like Adolin or Szeth volunteer as Odiums champion with the intent to let Dalinar kill them so the humans have a guaranteed victory. -someone intervenes during the contest of champions. If Dalinar is about to be killed a character like Kaladin, Navani or Adolin may step in without knowing the consequences, voiding the contract and setting Odium free -
What would happen if one of the Charred were left out in the sun?
Elite01 replied to Nomad8's question in Cosmere Q&A
I was thinking about this and I wonder if it could create two sunhearts? The one from their soul and the one in their chest. Or would it create a sun heart twice as big as a standard one? Creating a cinderheart is a possibility for sure. -
Everything we know about Isaac Stewart's Mistborn spin-off novel
Elite01 replied to Atlas333's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I agree that awakening is unlikely cause if it was why not set it on nalthis, the only idea I can think of for an undead army via hemalurgy is a new hemalurgic construct we haven’t seen. Maybe it requires three spikes and can go into a coma state until awoken again. Another interesting tidbit is that kolos elders cover themselves in bandages when they outgrow their skin. I don’t think it’s realistic to have a crew of kolos elders manage a ship but it is interesting. I was also thinking of the detail about how it involves going to an island. I imagine this isn’t the malwish/southern continent because it’s technically one continent. I pulled up the era 2 map and there is a location called the shrouded isle, they could invent new islands for this book but with our current information I would put money that they travel to that island.
