  1. Cold/snow Spren - Tundra form, longer hair, resistance to the cold, more body fat, mabye slightly larger feet reminiscent of snow shoes? That seems a little too goofy though, Also I found a quote on the coppermind saying "Dullform occurs when a singer bonds an incorrect spren, or a spren that does not grant any other form" So what spren do you think grant dullform? I would suggest things like Shame spren or Anxiety spren, I don't see how those could give beneficial forms.
  2. Yes it would be captivity spren, I'll edit my post. And I don't think the forms would be forced by magical means. The first option could happen by using regular ways to make people do things they don't want to do. Such as "you can choose between execution or taking captivity form"
  3. Captiveform- This form is granted by bonding a captivity spre. This is an interesting one but I see two versions 1. A form that is forced upon parshmen prisoners by giving them the choice between death or taking the form. If they take the form they become lethargic and withdrawn similar to dullform 2. I like this one better. When a parshmen takes Captiveform they lose the ability to move but no longer need food. I imagine this being the parshmen equivalent of freezing yourself so that you can have years pass without it affecting you. I would assume the spren would leave by itself at some point or you might have to wait for someone to come along and help you change to a different form
  4. Okay I was thinking about the surge of Transportation the other day and I have always thought there has to be more ways to use it than just going to the cognitive realm. It just seems so limited to only be able to do one thing when other surges can do multiple, like providing flight, soulcasting, and healing/plant magic. I have one possible application, let me know how likely it is. So what if a Radiant with the surge of transportation could teleport to wherever their shardblade/spren is? If you threw it across the battlefied or hidden it somewhere you could teleport to it. Kind of like a reverse of summoning a shardblade. I think it could be possible to somehow use the Connection between a radiant and their spren to change where you would pop out of in the physical realm. There could be limits like the distance or only radiants of X ideal could do so but I think it would be a cool application. As for evidence the only thing I can think of is we see that Deadeye's try to follow the general location of whoever holds their shard, which is done through a connection of some kind. I also found this on the coppermind wiki "The Shadesmar location of a deadeye relative to the Physical location of its Shardbearer does have a minuscule impact on the speed at which the Blade is summoned. It seems that to become a Shardblade, the deadeye travels to the desired location at the speed of light, or something approaching it." Thoughts?
  5. I've always loved this idea. There was a previous forum for it but it didn't get a lot of traction. So far this is my best guess Abrasion - ? Adhesion - Trust/Honor/Connections Cohesion - ? Division - Responsibility, this one isn't intuitive but dustbringers try to learn self-mastery to be respoonsible for themselves and their actions. Skybreakers are more about external/societal responsibility. Making sure that each action they take is the responsible one Gravitation - Honor, Windrunners are if an action feels honorable. Skybreakers focus on following a defined code to be honorable Illumination - Truth Progression - Focusing on others? Edgedancers care about people. Truthwatchers we know less about but they seem to focus on external truth so maybe its to help society? Transformation - Self Change? Lightweavers change through the truths they embrace. Elsecallers want to become the best version of themselves Transportation - Individuality Elsecallers want to be the best version of themselves instead of trying to reach an external standard. Willshapers pursue freedom and what that looks like for them? Tension - Integrity? We don't know much about stonewards and bondsmiths are kind of hard to compare to so that is mostly vibes I do wonder if looking at the Fused could help somehow. They each use only one surge so it should be easier to figure out without a different surge interferring. For example the Heavenly Ones are very honorable which supports gravitations attribute being honor.
  6. Could do some kind of calorie tracker but you keep track of your feruchemical storage instead. Could do a verdant spore calculator, with this much water and this many spores you would get a vine with this length. Something related to keeping track of the dramas playing on Komashi. Punch in a time like thursday night at 6:30 and the app tells you what show is playing.
  7. What about someone who doesn't have an arm making a prosthetic one out of breaths and cloth? Could be a workable version of this
  8. Seems like Scadrial has some decent theorizing, what about other planets? I feel like singing the tone of a shard doesn't do anything crazy but the anti-tone has interesting implications Anti-endowment ~ maybe it can mess with the extra colors people see or mess with Lifeless Tone of Virtuosity ~ I think it would be interesting if this helped sculpt Hion lines or attract some of the spirits Anti-Devotion/Dominion ~ I feel like it would mostly mess with Seons/Skaze but maybe with Elantrians too Tone of Ambition ~ Would be really interesting if this tone could somehow calm down shades. The Anti-Ambition tone could be a shade detterent Anti-preservation ~Maybe this would mess with seekers Anti-Cultivation ~ scare away nearby spren maybe? And I feel like the answer is yes but would Adonalsium have a tone? How would that affect each magic system/shard if they heard it?
  9. So I wonder if there could be some delicate hemalurgy to remove the torment from Hoid. It would get around any of the self perception problems. You still have problems of it Hoid would want that to happen but it could be one possibility.
  10. Well if you want to post a link or send me a message I would love to take a look at them
  11. So what other rithmatic lines could there be? I can't seem to think of anything because there doesn't seem to be a pattern to predict any. The only one I can think of is a way to give instructions to your enemies chalkings. Maybe when they attack it?
  12. I've made some MTG cards set in the cosmere if anyone wants to take a look. The goal is less about balance and more trying to capture what a crossover between MTG and the cosmere could look like. I don't own any of the art. If you have any suggestions or know of any good art, let me know. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10piRRiF2hQEzbh48r_4kFfjYlXXQiORR?usp=drive_link
  13. I think being splinters of shards is the most likely outcome but for the sake of discussion the other popular theory is that each unmade has some aspect of one of the heralds that sets them apart from spren. Generally, it comes from this quote in ch 88 of Oathbringer from Jezrien "I used to think it wasn’t my fault. But you know, we can’t escape what we did? We let them in. We attracted them, befriended them, took them out to dance and courted them. It is our fault. You open yourself to it, and you pay the price. They ripped my brain out and made it dance! I watched." Mostly the line "they ripped me brain out and made it dance" Could just be the torture they did on Braize but they could have ripped chunks of their souls off and Odium could have made minions out of them. I feel like we don't really have any evidence besides this quote. No unmade draws connections to Ishar or Nale for example.
  14. spoilers for stormlight 5 prologue
  15. Hmm I think divine breath and emotional allomancy are the best bets. just trying to think of alternatives if you jumped through the hoops of making a new hemalurgic construct that was more beast like you could control it with emotional allomancy without the sentience problem mentioned above. Like if you made a mistwraith horse with one spike it wouldn’t be a Kandra but might be more vulnerable to emotional allomancy for example.
  16. Really interesting, I wonder what the difference between an avatar of autonomy is and the stormfather. Is it a difference in power levels? intent? What would it take if Harmony heard about the stormfather and wanted to replicate it on Scadrial? We don’t know a lot but I imagine the process would be similar to making an avatar. Would odiums spren be the everstorm? Or do the unmade/the thrill already check the box? and for Lumar I think a spren for each spore sea could make sense. But I could also see a spren for each moon. If I remember right there is a religion on Lumar that worships the moons. and getting into the really obscure ideas because most shards are covered. Due to the location based aspect of the dor could each nation have a Godspren that is connected to the magic system? So could maipon, the home of soul forgery have a god spren? Or would it be to disconnected from a shard?
  17. In stormlight we know that Adhesion is Honor's surge, and that Progression is the surge most connected with Cultivation. My question is hypothetically what would happen if a different shard was connected to a surge like these two? I want to be clear I don't think it is likely especially because Odium is on Roshar and has not manifested a surge but I think it would be fun to try and figure out what they could be. The basic definition is that the Surges of Roshar are the basic fundamental force of the world such as gravity and light. Here is what I have for each shard so far Preservation - time based abilities, mainly slowing things down. Breathing stormlight into something and it would act slower, enemies, falling objects etc Ruin - could be division. I don't know if I could find a better match thematically Odium - emotion based abilities? It isn't a fundamental force but I can't think of anything else to match the intent of hate. It could act like a rioter or soother who breaths stormlight out and those it touches get thier emotions influenced. Endowement - ? Autonomy - ? Virtuosity - Could be connected to the surge of illumination because all we know about its intent is it is artistic in nature. Similar situation to Ruin Also even if you can't match them up to a shard if there were more surges that matched the 10 we know what could they be? The only "fundamental force" I can think of is temperature but I cannot find a good match, maybe Ruin? I could also maybe see maybe a fortune based ability but I am not sure if that matches the definition of fundamental force. Could go to Endowement for good luck or Ruin for bad luck
  18. Those are really interesting, I especially like the first one. I have a couple but they are mostly just variations - a "no choice" option It's a weird set of circumstances but imagine you were in a war where generals had all the breath. If one was gravely injured and knew they were going to die they could pass it along to any soldier nearby to prevent their army from losing a resource. This is similar to what happened to Vienna where someone knew they were dying soon and didn't want their breath to be wasted. I think it's similar to the generational breath idea but this one could be more impromptu. It also needs someone to be in the right place and the right time -You could also do gambling which is just a variation on buying. A casino on Nalthis where you wager one breath but could get two if you win. -employment This one is also strange. I remember in the books its mentioned that there are guards in the court of gods who have enough breath to recognize what heightening others are at. Do you need a certain amount of breath to get the job or are they given to you so you can complete that job? It would be interesting if there was a treasury of some kind where you get an allotment of breaths and must return them in a certain time frame. You would need a person to hold the breaths so it could be passed to different people but it is an interesting idea.
  19. I wonder if any of the feruchemist spiritual abilities would help with this. In a weird way maybe someone who had stored identity could tap it to become "more" terris and then have a higher chance of having ferrings as children. I could also see a nicrosil ferring maybe being able to help with this because they can do stuff with investiture but we haven't seen much of what those abilities can do.
  20. I heard a theory that someone experienced with an honorblade could track down other honorblades through the Oathpact/connection magic. I think its supported by the idea that they left their blades behind. Could be a mix of being unworthy/you don't want the other heralds to find you. Its not as dramatic as whatever the Stormfather is probably referring to.
  21. I think one of the interesting parts of the Stormlight books is the random interludes we get during the story. It helps me understand how big Roshar is in and how detailed the world-building is. Mistborn is a different kind of book but hypothetically if there were interludes in mistborn era 1 or 2 what characters/stories would we see to help us see more of Scadrial? My current ideas are: Era 1 A metalurgist making a new kind of metal and either being killed by inquisitors or delivering it to Vin I read a short fanfic of the Kolos named Human before being turned into a Kolos that was interesting Some kind of Obligator/servant preparing a storage cache for the Lord Ruler Era 2 ( I know the broadsheets already do this but this is for fun) Anything to do with Kolos-blooded A terris ferring experimenting with one of the lesser know abilities like storing connection (in the arcanum unbound for one of the books it mentioned the terris were experimenting on what could be done with these powers) Anyone else have ideas?
  22. I'm too lazy to look up the exact quote but at Dragonsteel 2023 someone asked about it and Brandon said something along the lines of "A few years ago they reached out to me about a magic the gathering collab and I said yes, but that was the time when Magic was reaching out to a lot of people (like Lord of the Rings) so Brandon assumes that he got put on the backburner while they made crossovers with more popular brands. He said if they reached out he would be willing to work something out but hasn't heard anything from them in a while." I think its a matter of when not if but I tend to be optimistic about how successful the cosmere will be in the coming years, if we get cosmere movies I think that will only make it more likely.
  23. I think the safe bet is that Canticles core is a battery of some kind. Nomad mentions a couple things that supports this although I don't have the quotes -power seems to be drawn to the core, sun hears are created when they get in the way of the energy getting to the surface/core. This is when he gives the lightbulg analogy -Nomad also mentions that the planet behaves strangely for something so small. He theorizes that there must be something strange about the core but doesn't give us any other ideas. If its a battery then it could really mean anything and makes it hard to predict what it could be. My best ideas for what this power source could be used for -A Death Star-style weapon to destroy things -a extra life for a shard. My current theory is that canticle is a device that once it has enough energy it will be able to revive ambition. There is almost no evidence for this besides the presence of threnodites. This idea could be true though or it could be a backup if something were to happen to invention and it needed to be revived. Any other ideas for what a shard could do with a giant battery?
  24. My main concern with F-Zinc is that even though you can think faster I don't think there is any evidence that you get any smarter. So even though there is more time to process the information if you don't know how to do something then having an extra minute to remember won't necessarily help. Of course the right character could get around that weakness.

    Pet Miswraith

Cool idea to have a pet mistwraith. I agree with some of the logistical things alder24 mentioned. With that being said I think its a creative idea. Let's ignore morals and logistics for a second. If you had a trained mistwraith dog or horse what cool things could you have it do? Obviously hiding metals like Oresour does, and certain stealth abilities but could they do anything else? A mistwraith wouldn't have any concerns about killing because it wouldn't know about the contract so it would be more willing to help out in combat situations I would think.
