  1. A few possible answers. One, he is just personifying them and feels like he can, and there is nothing overtly special going on. He is the type to do that. Another explanation could be the whole 'child of tanavast' thing. And lastly, the it could be that all pieces of wood are sentient and the spears kaladin have wielded are the only chance for peace between Humans and wood now that Shallan insulted the great Stick, who is now rallying the other woods to war!
  2. That's a good point, but that isn't really taking into account the wording of what Hoid said, where he seemed to say that the Everstorm before and after Shinovar were different, which is what I'm trying to draw attention to.
  3. he forged a connection between Kaladin and Tien.
  4. Well, a lot of feruchemical effects actually do affect more than the user, for superspeed, it clearly helps your clothes not rip off, and that can be explained that the soul of the object sees itself inside of your field, similar to the time bubble effect.
  5. I've been re-reading WoR (Cuz that just how it be sometimes) and something caught my eye. When Hoid talks to Jasnah, he mentions how the Everstorm will first hit shinovar and then start giving the singers their forms. Considering how shinovar has been said to have several unmade, this piqued my interest. The Everstorm was normal until it hit shinovar, and then it must've picked up an unmade? or something. Seeing as we're going to shinovar in the next book, I was wondering what everyone thought of this, especially since it seems like something people would forget.
  6. Dalinar didn't need physical contact for kaladin.
  7. we don't see anytjing that would inicate this.
  8. Just a detail I want to point out, when Szeth and Kaladin meet, Szeth is under the impression that Kaladin has an honorblade with regrowth, however, when Kaladin shows himself to be using lashings, he says honorblades plural, because the surge of gravitation and regrowth isn't in any on order. Szeth has the Windrunner blade, leaving the skybreaker one as the only one that could provide him this power, and that one was stolen, so Szeth actually had a reason to disbelieve his notion until he says Syl change into a spear, confirming he wasn't using an Honorblade for lashings.
  9. No, he didn't shape the church of the survivor before his death, this could only happen after. He wanted them to rebel, he couldn't have controlled how the religion shaped until after his death.
  10. Sorry, wrong WoB. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/3-firefight-chicago-signing/#e22
  11. I don't know, this wob says otherwise
  12. I would like to remind people that Marsh has his own religion and is called Iron eyes and is basically Scadrials grim reaper.
  13. I understand that, but that doesn't mean you can't imagine something in your head, and the voice I hear when they speak leans more feminine. The Canonitcal gender is not the question, just what you see in your head you think of the Sibling, because conversations where they come up, people sometimes slip up and show that they imagine them as a he or she because of... something. I doubt they even know why they imagine them as that, I don't even know why. And seeing as many do imagine them male or female, there is validity o asking the question, because remember, the tower has a spren in shadesmar and we aren't really given a description, and plenty of people seem to imagine them being humanoid, like most spren.
  14. I would simply like to remind both sides to calm down and tone down the snark just a tad. You're doing great. And for my position, I must admit, the pro-Navani group has made some very good arguments (Along with some bad ones), and my position is not changed... yet. Because of this conversation, I am reevaluating that scene. My position has not yet changed, but it is opened to being changed. So congratulations, you have done something very impressive, and that's to get me to re-analyze my position. (Granted, a lot of it was me thinking of counters to my own arguments because I have a weird duality way of thinking and like seeing every side, but there were points made by others that helped sway it, and you guys should be proud of making those points.)
  15. He didn't, but he said that he would've done it out of respect for Tanavast regardless.
  16. The stormfather. I would make him read stuff to me in what i imagine is a wonderful voice and any conversation with him will be an experience.
  17. Okay, let me make a comparison for you. A cell's borders are defined by its membrane, and everything is within the membrane. That does not make mean the cell and the membrane are interchangeable. One defines its borders, the other is it
  18. Ah yes, the mighty, 'the author said it, so it must be true'. part of this is that we disagree about that scene and what BS thought he was doing. BS can give his reasonings to try and explain it, but this isn't an argument where you can get a WoB saying Navani is worthy and end it. I will grant your other points are good and due you credit, but that doesn't mean the Sibling didn't do it out of desperation, as Navani was their only choice. If given another choice, i do not think the Sibling would choose her, there is still that spren thing that would cause a rift. The theme of the text does not matter when we're questioning a scene. You can't say the reason the Sibling changed her mind is because 'it's thematic'. There are legit reasons why the Sibling would never bond Navani. She let go of her reservations about spren quickly, and you might says she still has a problem after the bond, but then i would counter that means the Sibling would prefer many other people before Navani.
  19. Everything is Navani's fault. She will be the main antagonist in book 10 after getting all three of the shards and trying to make everyone into fabrials and then become the cosmere wide villain as she tries to get the Shard Invention, which was her entire goal since she was born!
  20. I get that, but pushing down grief isn't meant to be a good way of handling grief Depressed and empty. I would accept it, but I would start trying to fill the hole with something. That is my response. Navani's was to at first not believe shallan about Jasnah and then refuse to meet shallan because she reminds you of Jasnah, and then be depressed. It's a realistic response.
  21. Yeah, Navani seems like the type you would experiment with those abilities and accidentally severe a person's connections completely, she doesn't seem to care much about the consequences when there is experimenting to be done. Everyone has their way of coping. It's what I would do. She doesn't nearly turn off the emotions as never confronting them and not letting her think about it. kind of like Shallan, actually. She's a scholar, but a scholar who had very controversial beliefs and I believe says that a lot of people tried to assassinate her before (She was almost assassinated in the first book) and this is a time where there is no other way for her to die suddenly and not violently. And honestly, how she died is really that important compared to the fact she is dead. Like, remember, she was refusing o believe she was dead and complaining how she left jasnah to drown after hearing she got an axe through the chest. No problem.
  22. if that was his point, then yeah, that point is terrible. Not sure if that is though, I will let him clarify.
