Hey, it's another Cultivation Post
Aspiring Writer replied to mdross81's topic in Cosmere Discussion
No, the shards are invested in that system. They are stuck in that system. That is where they are connected to. potentially but it would be a strange decision to kill Design after giving him her. -

Ulim hacked the Oathpact, not his connection to the Rosharian system. Spren could go anywhere they want in the system, they just can't leave the system. And no, it wouldn't cut them from the shard, they are pure investure. They would manipulate the power's connection to the planet, allowing them to leave. As for Hoid, Mistborn Era 2 takes place after SA 5, so he defiantly has his spren. -
There has only been three at a time. it is hinted there may be more. Also, a lot of the unmade are not sentient enough to form a bond or are sentient and really don't want to.

Hey, it's another Cultivation Post

Um, pretty sure it's the fact Lift seems to partly in the Cognitive Realm and hack his visions that frustrated him. @apepi Your argument is meaningless because there are WoBs that confirm the reason CS and spren can't leave the planet is because of their connection to it, and you don't need Cultivation to leave the planet to get a spren of, you can manipulate your connection to get them out, Hoid clearly knows how, seeing as he has bonded a spren and was still seen on scadrial, and BS has again confirmed you can take spren off-world with a little hacking. As for the other argument, it is clearly implied that every time a Fused is reborn, their mind is damaged more and more, however, Vasher does seem to imply that they will start to go crazy anyway as the intent takes over in RoW, so it's safe to assume they would eventually go crazy and the cost of dying sped it up. Also, pretty sure Raboniel tried to help her daughter before she got completely insane, and might have started her plan after she noticed others going insane and realized that would eventually happen to all of them. -
Okay, re-reading RoW and I am just curious how many other people like Design as much as me.

true.

Well, I think that depends on the person, because Jasnah is cool-headed, and she would've probably done the same in Adolin's place, if not more carefully to leave no evidence whatsoever.

Does him trying to kill him, his family, and his faction multiple times constitute the death penalty?
-
he killed someone that threatened him and his family. That wouldn't be counted as murder, and again, Sadeas has already tried to kill him multiple times. Yeah, but a Kholin officer doesn't have to go through what he does every day. He has to deal with that bastard after years of insults and schemes and most recently assassination attempts. I would expect anyone to break after that. It is clear in that moment that Sadeas knew the Dalinar was right and he was planning on lying. He did not believe what he was saying. he was a threat to the him, his family, and his factions, and potentially the entire kingdom. If he was undermined, why did he still have so many followers? There were people who were going to follow him not matter what, and as long as he was highprince and therefore part of the coalition, he would mess with the other nations as much as possible. They already are trying to kill him! The danger is him deceiving their allies in the coalition against him even more than they already were in that book.

Okay, as someone who has been dealing with temper problems since a child, Adolin is on the lower end of the spectrum by far. First off, we see that with both Dalinar and Adolin that they tend to subconsciously summon their Blade when distracted or anxious, which is equivalent to squeezing a stress ball, and Adolin summoning a blade could be seen as challenging Sadeas, not trying to murder him (And seeing as his thoughts are on dueling when he is thinking about this, that is a safe assumption.). Two, if you think having a person who has been insulting you and your loved ones for years isn't going to wear on your patience, then congrats, you are lucky to not have had to deal with that. People can get under your skin when they keep goading you while not crossing that line that can let you retaliate. It is literally the strategy of school bullies and why they are really infuriating. Adolin reacting like this is also possibly healthier than keeping it in, where he would end up containing that anger until it consumes him and blows. (Believe me, containing anger doesn't work well. It's like a time bomb that gets stronger the longer it takes. After a year or so of calm, I ended up getting so angry that I threw my own glasses and broke them. Not showing anger simply delays the inevitable, and may end up getting angry at the wrong people.) Three, Sadeas had just given Adolin a threat. A legitimate threat that Adolin had every reason to believe he would do. Sadeas may have been weaponless, but he knew what he was doing. Adolin's decision, if not right, was reasonable. Don't threaten someone's family and not expect at least a punch to the face. And fourth, believe me when I say the fact he has controlled himself so well for most people and to some extent even Sadeas (I honestly would expect Adolin to do more than just start to summon, i would expect him to put the sword to his neck before calming down.) Not making do on your impulses is incredibly difficult when your in that mindset, and while he has people to make sure he doesn't step over that line, he has been able to keep himself from killing/challenging him for this long, which is impressive. Dalinar was convinced to commit genocide, not just revenge. He killed civilians which, even in his current mental state, is not something to just excuse. Okay, while goading is legal, it isn't okay, and Sadeas just gave Adolin a flat-out threat. Adolin basically did self-defense in advance on someone who already tried to get them killed several times. He wasn't really caring about the kingdom. Dalinar had just proven to be sane and right about everything and he was already thinking of lies to spin this when they were in the middle of desolation. That does not speak well for his motives. Killing someone in self defense is okay. While that situation doesn't perfectly mirror the situation that would be the case, it has similarities. let Sadeas live to continue lying and trying to undermine and kill you and everyone who follows you, or kill him now and save those people and remove an imminent threat. And what he did technically did help the Kholin cause. While Ialai ended up being thorn in their side, Sadeas would have been much worse and could've potentially broke the coalition. Ialai wasn't at her best after his death, and Amaram is less manipulative than Sadeas, to some extent. (Sadeas knows how to manipulate others in a different way than amaram that could've been more damaging.)

How would you prefer to be Invested?
Aspiring Writer replied to The Technovore's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Feruchemist all the way. While i would lobe having a spren companion, feruchemy is still too useful to not have. You have he four physical traits (Strength, speed, weight, senses) that you can store when you're being lazy and use later, Brass (heat) makes you not give a crap about the weather, Zinc and Copper are best study tools of all time (And honestly, Electrum, too. Me need the determination not to be lazy.) Bronze will finally solve all your sleep problems (Both the going to sleep and the waking up from it.), Cadmium and bendalloy are useful for any physical activity, Gold doesn't even need to be said, and Duralumin works as a universal translator for me (Which would be great).- 26 replies

Lift and any Singer. That comment about the marble pattern in Oathbringer makes me hope. (maybe Venli, since she rescued her.)

*Hums to the Rhythm of Purple* "Oh hi!"
Aspiring Writer replied to Rhythm Of Purple's topic in Introduce Yourself!
You, my intelligent friend, have taste and know culture. May Purple rule all colors! (What in the cosmere would you most want to turn purple or have as purple?) -
Interesting. Could work if well done. Well that is nothing new. Ah, the ol power armor. remember to think of cost, maintenance, how long they can be on the field before losing power, weak points, and more when you implement these. Done correctly, the presence of these could create some intense scenes (Look to Attack on Titan, which are basically meat mechas. Done really well.) Always did wish more people worked with that concept. Quite the endeavor, I'll tell you. interesting. Could help for both World building and plot. Hmm. That one might be diiffcult. So last of us? YOU...SHALL...NOT...PASS! (I'm sorry, this is too general to say much.) Political games, eh? That can work well for potential allies and enemies. You have combined the three stereotypes, creating... something. At one point, when you keep combining things, they become something completely different Hmm. living starships. Wonder how that will work. BURN. Ah yes, the old quantum explanation. the pinnacle of science babble to explain something. And I thought the quantum part was the biggest issue. And we're back to good stuff. i suggest getting some cocane if you can't think of alien life. Really helps. Nothing new, just your general world building. Mystery, eh? That is always an attention grabber. A group that is called something super vague and implies lots of meaning? Hmm, you are learning. So just your average constant warfare. pretty sure this messes with the whole war part above.

Anyone ever come close to going to blows with your parents and then end up hugging out with them as if we weren't about to rip each other's throats out? It is such a weird tone shift and leaves feeling... odd.

Honorblade vs 5th ideal radiant
Aspiring Writer replied to AvatarofOdium's topic in Stormlight Archive
The Honorblades are honestly inferior to Nahel bonds in most ways. Even at the 2nd ideal, they use less stormlight and have better healing (being able to heal from Shardblade wounds). They appear to have a few advantages and exceptions from being basically the Bands of Mourning for the Surges, and the lack of ideals can allow for easier access as well as mixing os surges not normally used in conjunction because you can't (normally) have more than one spren. -
If that what he means, remember there is a difference between the Listeners and Singers. This is like saying the Thaylens are the same as the Alethi.

What do you mean by this?

Roshar is the easiest aluminum source
Aspiring Writer replied to Stonewardguy's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I highly doubt he could get that much god metal, especially of something like Lerasium, which is one of the most useful god metals of all the cosmere. -
Well, we know one Fifth Radient Ideal, that being the Skybreakers and Becoming the Law. So they are likely the combination of what all their oaths have been leading to, rather than having to do with their spren or being the same.
