  1. Gal, for some unknown reason, actually notices her sadness. "What's the problem? Did he die?"
  2. "Wanderfull! Then when we have more time we can try this experiment. Maybe the next time we stop? And by the way, you keep mentioning this Master of yours. Could it possibly be the renowned elven magic researcher Feldspar, who was the first to announce about Fumeweaving existence?"
  3. "So less than the sum of a dose spell is impossible? And can you make the hybrid last more with dyes?"
  4. "So you can have a little of each fume, summing up for less than one dose, and it will have an effect? Fascinating. When you cast a spell, do you create a hybrid fume? If so, can you fuel it with a mixed dye?"
  5. Gal recovers from his awe, starts walking again and scribbles in his notebook like a madman. While writing, he asks: "To cast a spell, does the amount of fumes needed has to sum up to at least one dose? And how many doses does a dye add? Does this amount change based on the purity of the color of the dye?"
  6. So far, we only know this magic system to be capable of changing the substance of a wooden bed. And apparently, a 'weaver can also make his fumes more visible by just concentrating, without using any part of them!
  7. "Then did you use only some specific fumes? Or it didn't waste any amount of dose at all?"
  8. Well, new additions to our knowledge! Every fume is naturally charged at two doses, when a dose is the minimal amount to cast a spell with only one fume. A standard spell, though, uses more than one fume, and so, only a part of a dose is used. It is unknown how many doses a standard dye adds, or how the purity of said dye affects the amount charged.
  9. "Did that take a little bit of a dose from each fume?"
  10. "Did you just summon the fumes, or used them in a way that makes them visible?" asks Gal, looking up from his notebook, and staring at the fumes, frozen with awe.
  11. "When do they stop recharging, if at all? What emotions are connected to each color, and when you feel those emotions does the fume related to those feelings get stronger?" Gal seems a little exited by all the information, and sounds like he'll never be out of questions.
  12. All right. So from what I understand, this magic system, called Fumeweaving, works like this: there are six ribbons, called fumes, that hover around a Fumeweaver. It is unknown yet how many Fumeweavers exist. Each fume has it's own color, based on the colors of the rainbow (apparently, Fadran don't believe in the seventh color. Can't blame him). Each fune has, theoretically, it's own effect, though it's easier to describe how they react together. The fumes become more visible or less so in relation to the 'weaver's (that's shorter. Is that fine calling them that?) feelings. The 'weaver mixes the fumes in a certain ratio to cast a spell and achieve a certain effect, and it is unknown whether when using the same ratio with bigger or smaller amounts the effect of the spell will be the same or not. To change the effects, though, the ratio needs to be massively changed, if I understand correctly. After being used, a fume would be weaker (I guess it depends on the amount used), and will recharge on it's own, using either the 'weaver's nutritions or dyes of the same color of said fume, when given. A 'weaver could also supercharge the fume with a dye. It is unknown whether or not the fumes have a natural normal amount they stop recharging upon the 'weaver's nutritions at. @Ookla the Channelknight, did I miss something, or misunderstood something? About the last part I'll probably ask next in the RP.
  13. So, I'm busy questioning Fadran about a magic system in an RP we play at, so I could write here what I understand from his magic system. Is that fine with you, @Ookla the Channelknight? And how about you, @Aspiring Writer?
  14. "So I understand the ribbons are limited in amount. After using a ribbon in a spell, does it need time to recharge, or do you have to charge it with a dye? Is dye-charging temporal, or until you use the ribbon in a spell? And each ribbon is actually named a fume, I understand. Can you list right now the six basic ribbons' effects?" Gal tries to write everything in his notebook, though he keeps walking. He write as quick as he can everything he can gather from the elven girl's - the Fumeweaver's - words.
  15. In the moment Gal thinks he starts to understand things, he shoots questions, while opening his backpack and reaching to his notebook and pen. "Wow. How many ribbons are there? Do all of them accompany you all the time? Does one ribbon have a general rule for how it affects the spell? When mixing them in the same ratio but in different amounts, does the results stay the same?" He stops questioning, thinks for a moment, then asks: "also, could I borrow your book?" While questioning, he completely forgets he should be wary of Rosalie, leaving his backpack open, though not enough that things will start fall of. @Ookla's Dice
  16. Gal thought about it for a moment. "So, you compare this to alchemy, a magic systems used to make potions and change lead to gold with specific ingredients, yet you don't speak of potions, but of spells. You have the 'ingredients', as you call them, the ribbons, and will them to mix up in a way that produces the desirable result? Can you tell the difference between different kinds of ribbons, and know which should be mixed with which to get the result?" @Ookla's Dice, @Ookla the Empyreal
  17. When Gal started questioning, his attitude changed immediately to much more analytical and scholarlike, less of a boy aged 16. "What generally can you do with those ribbons of yours? Does their color change with either time or spell you're casting? And do they produce smell only when activated, or the smell just gets stronger, and is actually always there?"
  18. "Thank you. I would like to talk to you about it, but I think I'll prefer doing it on our next stop, where I could stop to write." He thought for a moment. "I mean, I'd like you to tell me the basics - I know practically nothing about it - but further than that would be hard for me to remember."
  19. Gal looked at her and saw the weird misty things, recalling what he knew about Fumeweaving. "Haven't met any user of it until now, so I hadn't any occasion to." He said.
  20. Gal turned to the elven girl. "Yes. That's actually why I came along; dragons' magic is said to be unique, and so I came to study it. Didn't expect to find myself tangled with prophecies." He shook his head. "Maybe I should just leave you when we get closer or something."
  21. Look, I'm not into rejecting people, really. And I don't reject you, either. But... I don't think we need salesman. We could use a front, though, and salesmen seem to me as a great front. And money could help, I guess. It's only that... Oh, I probably could never explain it. So, our front, as a salesman?
  22. "Well, supernatural incidents are a little out of my domain, though it is close. I don't really know much about it, though I know someone who specializes in this domain, and I could contact him next time we stop in a village." Gal seems to consider the discussion over, fiddling with his backpack a little.
  23. I'm sorry to interrupt, but it probably won't help you learn how to use mod powers, since only mobs understand their powers. You could say that being adopted by ene is worth it anyway, so I won't judge. And @Ookla the Intimidating, she needn't intimidate you. All she have to do is intimidate us, the common folk, and... Tries to imagine Lunamor's pic with a mustache, speaking like batman nope, sorry. It's just seem funny to me, probably because I watched too much of HISHE's videos with batman.
  24. Gal turns his head toward the kid with the prophecy. "How do I know so much about magic? Well, I'm a magic researcher. It's my job very definition to know a lot about magic. I wandered the world to learn as much as I could, questioning people like I did with Minuet. Actually, about Graces I don't know much, since they are rate to encounter. The nice thing about them is that they have visible evidences of magic-usage, which not all magics have." He says all that while watching carefully for Rosalie, his hand on his backpack.
  25. All right. This is 100% a bad idea. I'm sure of it. But because I'm an idiot, I'll go through with it anyway.

You see, I have this problem that I sometimes like to wallow in my wretchedness, even though there's no reason for me to feel wretched. I'm in one of these situation right now, because I posted an idea for a magic system yesterday, and only one person commented on the topic.

This does not mean that to help me get out of it I should ask you to read about it. That'll be only reinforcing the feeling demanding attention this way works. I just wanted to pour it out, and though I do want that people to read it, I ask you to think before you do why you ignored it, and whether there's any reason (except the fact I said I feel bad because of it) to decide otherwise.

I usually have this problem with the feeling that nobody listens to me. It's a problem in the way I work, and I probably should just find people interested in what I have to say. Here it's good for many things, better than my family, who dislikes me talking too much about books.:P

Oh, and this is my first status update! Yay!

I never cared about upvotes. I, too, am putting most of my upvotes on memes. The attention part, though, is interesting. Maybe people can't stand having their minds blown all the time, and Brandon's books are mind blowing enough.

Yeah, I feel you. I once posted a ten-paragraph essay about an alien species on r/worldbuilding five months ago and it got exactly one upvote. (Well, it has two now, but that's from one dude who found it somehow today and also commented. Shout outs to that dude.)
