"I told you," said AraRaash, "I can explain everything." The Forgotten did not look impressed. They were somewhere deep below the tower of Nebrask, where a massive hoard of wild chalklings had dragged him after they... well, AraRaash wasn't sure what they'd did. But whatever they did, it was interesting enough to not immediately get possessed and puppeteered around the world of Rithmatics... again. Which meant AraRaash had to be just interesting enough to maintain that air of curiosity without crossing over the line of irritation. Which you are excellent at, I'm sure, murmured Faleast. AraRaash ignored him. "Your actions lost us a powerful ally," came a voice from the general direction of the head Forgotten. AraRaash couldn't actually see it from where he was standing; he wasn't sure if that was because a two-dimensional figure wasn't the most intimidating when not in a frothing hoard, or because they didn't have a canon description in Rithmatist and therefore was not allowed to say what they looked like. The multiverse worked in mysterious ways... he'd have to test that at some point. "Last I checked, I managed to tunnel vision on a single Rithmatist before vaguely supporting the execution of a single Forgotten," AraRaash replied. "Only thing I did was explore a lot to find more chalk. Someone stole mine, you see." The Forgotten made noise that sounded suspiciously like rolling eyes. "The Shadowblaze vanished from one of our members. Only you could have been responsible, and you claimed you'd found one. So where is it?" "Oh thaaaat," AraRaash said. "You see-" Okay that's it. They twitched at the mouth, and Faleast took control. "Apologies," he said, "my friend tends to be rather... crass, at times. But unfortunately, your question is not an easy one to answer." What's your plan here, AraRaash? My plan was just to lie through my teeth. I'm good at that. They'd send me on my merry way with a pat on the back and an unusual quantity of crabs. That's... not a plan. It could work! You don't seem to have a better one. What do we have, then? I feel like you should know, Faleast... List it out for me. Can't have the audience miss out, Faleast thought, then said, "simply put, I did not have any Rithmatic abilities. I simply learned how to draw the Line of Revocation with the desire that my mastery of the line would attract a Shadowblaze, which I admit was successful." You want me to list out everything we can do to those Forgotten. ... not that audience, AraRaash. I don't... Faleast! You finally broke the fourth- ARARAASH! Fine. Blessing of Identity, doesn't do much but I guess we could stab something with more than one side with it. Ishar's Honorblade, but we don't have any Stormlight to do anything with it and the cool things we're not allowed to do anyway. So it's a Shardblade without the ten heartbeat thing. Hemalurgic Spike granting Allomantic Nicrosil, with a few slugs of the stuff, but I don't think it works on chalk. Progression buggers, also don't work on chalk but can heal in a pinch. Bloodmaker spikes, also heal in a bigger pinch. Am kandra, will travel. No Dahkor, no Potency, no extra Investiture sources. Don't forget the bird. AraRaash managed to mentally roll his eyes. Ah yes. The bird. We don't have the bird that makes us more handsome. An excellent aid for this situation. Alright, plan R it is. Faleast finished with "... and then the Shadowblaze... bonded to me. So I believe that it is trapped within me now, out of your reach." The Forgotten gave no emotional response, but their next words were... harsher. "If you were the Non-Rithmatist, you would have joined us!" AraRaash took command once again. "Ah, now that's the thing. I wasn't the non-Rithmatist, I was not a Rithmatist. An important distinction, as I'm still endowed with temporary Rithmatic abilities. A Shadowblaze only makes them permanent." "Our Chalklings should have absorbed you! Instead they could not touch you! You..." The silence was almost worse than the rage. "The Twinmind! KILL HIM!" For once, Faleast and AraRaash spoke in sync, stating, "Wait, what?" And then they found themselves running for their lives in front of what seemed to be half the chalklings in Nebrask. "How do they know who we are? We've never been here before," said AraRaash. "... maybe we have," Faleast responded, pausing to pant. He didn't bother turning around; instead he dissolved one of his eyes and created a new one in his left shoulder. The chalklings were gaining on them. "This might be... the same... world that we... went to for the Melee." "And got possessed by a Forgotten and promptly backstabbed and thrown out of the competition?" "That's the one... but we should... think about it... later..." Faleast had just enough time to wonder why he had to stop talking to catch his breath but AraRaash didn't before they suddenly stopped. A pit opened up in front of them. The Gateway to the two-dimensional, pseudo-Spiritual Realm the Forgotten came from. They'd been there once. Nasty place. However, the Gateway was strong with this universe's Investiture. Strong enough to qualify as a perpendicularity. This world didn't have a Cognitive Realm, only the chalklings' home. But for the Harbingers, that simply meant a detour. "I think we've overstayed our welcome," AraRaash said. "Ready?" "Oh, enough with the-" AraRaash jumped, the chalklings coming up behind. The Shadowblaze deep within them shuddered. The Gateway approached. "Now!" Faleast and AraRaash burned nicrosil, and vanished into Spacetime.

To help Kas not quadruple-post in the future: ... too soon?
-
What I was planning on posting before I was killed: Faleast lowered a trembling hand to the ground. It had been a gambit, learning to sketch Revocation lines. They were new even to the world of Rithmatics, and tended to be rather... frowned upon in existence, even if he had no Rithmatic abilities at the time. Time to see if it had paid off. Weren't we doing something else? Something pirate-y? AraRaash asked. "Fairly certain you gave yourself an eye infection from wearing an eyepatch all day," Faleast whispered. "Or will give yourself. However time works." That's... not how that works. That's essentially the opposite of how that works. But I'm not allowed to break the fourth wall on that one. Medical records and all that. Can't have me given away. Faleast had a brief chuckle at the thought of anyone "allowing" AraRaash to do something. There were only... what, five people that he actually listened to. One was dead, one was missing, two were Shards, and one was... something more than that. Suddenly he wasn't chuckling as much. "Anyway... here it goes," Faleast said. He didn't start with the traditional Line of Vigor. It didn't feel... right. Plus he already had some idea what he was supposed to, thanks to the arena those months ago. So, he drew a chalkling. A mistwraith chalkling. Mistwraiths, in a way, were easy to draw, because it was almost impossible to make a mistake. Any misdrawn line could just be an extra limb once properly shaded and given bones for structure. But Faleast was still quite careful, as he'd seen mistwraiths before, and he knew that for all their reputation they were not random. So he gave it a pair of heads, one on each "end" - one the head and neck of a horse mostly intact, the other a grotesquely beautiful combination of a boar's skull and human ribs. Along the sides, little skulls with their mandibles missing to act as eye sockets, for the primitive eyes mistwraiths had. And a series of legs, some long and spidery made from multiple interlocking femurs, some short and stubbly that split at the end from the humerus, radii, and ulna. And a few internal structural bones for good measure. Faleast and AraRaash took a deep breath, then raised their chalk from the stone floor. Together. The chalkling twitched. Then its legs found purchase on the surface, and it turned around to face its maker. Faleast started blinking rapidly, and AraRaash let out a whoop. The combination of those actions probably looked ridiculous, but they didn't care. Faleast ran over back to the group, excitement overcoming common sense. "Guys! I did it! I'm a Rithmatist, I found a Shadowblaze! I can draw lines now!" He paused, chalk still triumphantly in the air. "Why is everyone looking at me like that?" Mission Accomplished I have an idea for something else, too. Stay tuned.

I think "skeleton in the closet" == something secret that Kasimir can incorporate into his investigative writeups, not something that will be (explicitly) stated within player RP. Hence why "Derrick" having literal skeletons in his closet isn't the (only) skeleton in his closet.

Eh. Sure. Signing up as Faleast, who's curious to discover if these dragons are similar to cosmere dragons. He's never seen either, of course, but he's curious.

... @Kasimir, am I the only one without a blurb? And is that because I / Faleast / AraRaash are so wonderfully inscrutible or because I just don’t have one? Also, Faleast/AraRaash will be going by the name of Derrick. Because there’s not much point to going undercover with a kandra name. (Faleast’s identity will be a bit of an open secret especially for all you game-hoppers, but it’s the principle of the thing... and I can assure you there will be more secrets to come ).

You need to make a lot of those Google Docs, but that's more time consuming than actually difficult. (I.e. the AG had... about 50 total world documents? 7-9 planets times 7 cycles). Probably the thing that needs more work is to make sure everyone's in the right doc. But I think it's fine for results like that to be a little delayed / sent out after the writeup if it helps you to get them in accurately. It's doable, but that kind of game would be greatly benefited by a co-GM so the GMs can multitask.

... great I like the idea of Stone Eaters / Orogenes being a hostile neutral and more benign/evil but not hostile neutral. Two hostiles become a bit much. Which is hostile and which isn't I'm not sure, would depend on how their abilities translate into games, I guess. And what abilities.
-
Stone eaters/orogenes/neutrals can always just have a fake use caste label (or even a real one). I feel like orogenes could be plenty potent from just what's in book one for some reason I'm thinking they could pull a modified Arsonist, or absorbing/releasing energy in some way. If there's only a solo neutral orogene, then some form of Neutral-Killing like Arso/Werewolf/SK is the way to go. (I've been watching too much Town of Salem lately... I think Arso and SK are well known but Werewolf essentially can attack every other night, killing their target and anyone who visits their target. Which now that I think about it fits the whole torus thing pretty well.)

I've read the first book... but I think you knew that already I wonder if the orogene could be a neutral instead of the entire eliminator faction. I would like to see how their... particular abilities are turned into a role. That being said I love the idea of a Broken Earth game. Not enough to give you my pass though ...

"So things are finally starting," Faleast said, rotating his jaw. "Aye," replied AraRaash. "It's been a fun vacation, but looks like it's back to work for the two of us." "It wasn't a vacation, Raash. You of all people should know the time a good infiltration requires." "We're back here again, and we got to slack off and do nothing while waiting for Lam to give us a sign or whatever it was he told us." Faleast didn't comment on that. "A Hemalurgic Spike discovery is something that his town has rarely seen. So yes, this is it. One way or another, we'll do what we need to do." The two of them stood up. They were trying something... newer. Neither had felt an overwhelming sense of control, which seemed to mean it didn't matter which of them decided to act in Fallion's Tears. So they had taken some liberties. And now they were the proud owner of a small home on the outskirts of town, along with a porch, reclining chair to observe the village, and the body of the previous resident. It left a twinge in Faleast's stomach, but knowing what they had known about that individual, he wouldn't have lasted long. He left his iron shavings around too much. He was rather mad, after all. Which gave Faleast and AraRaash a unique opportunity. "So," they said, twin sets of vocal cords resonating as they began walking toward the gathering crowd. "We should introduce ourselves, at the very least." Signing up as Faleast-AraRaash. Cosmetic role is... uh... you get the idea Madman / split-personality. And also a kandra. And also maybe more. We'll see.

I miiiiiiiiight be able to whip together a Mistborn Ball vote-based game. I have a trick up my sleeve that could help with GMing while being a busybody. But if anyone else would rather take the spot then please do

Yargh! Well, I wish I could have seen the game through as the one and only Elim Pirate Doctor Kandra, but it was fun to watch as well. Even if I never did get to make a Hospital doc that was solely a giant letter E. And even if Straw never sent me a spec doc link so I just haunted the empty Hospital.
