While Derrick agrees that Coinshots have their power to be aggressive, Seekers should be much more cautious about non-Misting residents as Smokers can nullify their ability to find spikes. And Coinshots should not believe they are forced into murder, either - only attack if you need to. Or if you have one person in mind. You know, perhaps Derrick is not the best one to listen to in terms of murder. The vote for the execution of Gears is one that Derrick similarly disagrees with, but Derrick can see the thoughts behind it fine enough. Striker's other points, such as Lurchers protecting themselves, were good. Ultimately expressed pride that he kindled discussion even if it was around themselves. Upon clarification of his points, he seemed much more reasonable, especially for one such as bloodthirsty as - Derrick we agreed - Derrick! - fine. Striker seems more reasonable later on. Unvotes Gears and looks at... Illwei/Quinn for vibes and Books for a quick turnaround on Striker hisself. Further bad vibes for Illwei encouraging lack of PM safety - not sure why he's surprised but here we all are." Reads Stick, Maill, Quinnish, Araris, and Elandera(???) good; Dannex, Reading, Illwei, Books, and XP." "Niru of the Venty claims a Smoker. Niru... that is not uncommon for him. Why is that name so familiar? Derrick doesn't know whether Ventyl is bad or not, but Derrick believes he is a Smoker. Possibly a good Seeker target for the second night, but not this one." "There's more, but that's all Derrick can gather now... so there we go. You get all that?" Derrick finished, turning to his audience. The rat ran forward and sniffed at Derrick's boot, and seemingly determining that it was neither edible nor comfortable, promptly left the scene. Derrick laughed, one eye darting to follow the rat, the other staring straight ahead. "Oh well. Perhaps someone else was listening?" he said, looking around. "Ah... there is always someone listening. Who is it this time? Philico? Rinala? Niru? ... Pyria? Or just the voices that resound in my head?" "And, did they hear what they wanted to hear? What was it they wanted to hear... oh, right. I'M DONE READING THE THING NOW! AND BY READING I MEAN READING!, if only to make things more entertaining for you," Derrick finished. "Derrick is curious. And if it's between those with Books and those who Read them..." He collapsed to the pounded earth. "It's almost like a chicken-and-the-egg-type thing. But... let's see, now. If it comes to a tie, Derrick will attempt to prevent, if he's awake... but for now let's keep options open, you see?" And Derrick fell asleep. But Derrick soon awakened. Such were the benefits of being able to sleep with one eye opened.

Generally Elim teams are never all one "group". Some newer players (either just-joined new or only-a-few-games new) and some more experienced players. I wouldn't be surprised if for this game it's also split between newer, mid-gen, and the much older players. That being said, I really don't like trying to out-meta the Elim team distribution. It works, but 1) it's really sucky for someone to get voted out for being experienced or inexperienced in lieu of actual evidence, (especially because experienced players also get more often fear-killed); and 2) I could definitely see some GMs making a small team with a lot of the experienced players or a large team without them (especially Kas with the former ). So, pretty much any experience level can be an Elim. Basing suspicions on experience isn't the best without more things to be suspicious of, though. That that being said, both the voters and the Elim kills usually have a unspoken rule of not killing new players or returning experienced players for the first 2-3 cycles. But this game has so many of both that that may prove difficult... and D1 votes are usually guided by these and other meta-reasons anyways. Aaaand this topic is a page old already. Oh well.

Yeah, Ventyl has... done this before I don't think claiming is AI for him. LG66, LG67, the AG... good deal more. And an outed Smoker is probably the least worrisome of the roles in terms of forcing Lurchers and Seekers and the like to bend around it if publicized. Yup, no more wisdom teeth anymore. Everything went fine, just a swollen / sore jaw. And the fact I got nothing done yesterday, which is really not that unusual for Fridays... I just... every time I roll Elim there seems to be some reason why I end up really busy and go inactiveish for all or part of it? Last MR was kind of an extreme case, but it does seem every time there is something that happens... I don't know if it's just Elim!me hates being quippish or just a weird coincidence, but I kinda wanted that out before I got my alignment. Of course, I am a Villager this time around, but I would personally take that with a grain of salt I'll go through the thread today and see if I spot anything.

I be around now. Probably won’t post anything meaningful tonight because I need my sleep and still have ice packs wrapped around my head, but I’ll be free enough tomorrow. ...that’s a lot of votes thrown around though...

Derrick. That was the name. Yes, he could be a Derrick. Derrick wandered with a teetering step - not quite drunken, or trying to reach two places at once, but seemingly taking two different paths to the same point, neither of which seemed to be the optimal one, as if rambling with footfalls instead of words. He - no! Not he! There is no he, no I, no us, only Derrick! - Derrick looked, on the surface, normal enough, although perhaps his stumbling and general stance looked like he was still trying to sleep off a long night drinking. Which was accurate enough, as Derrick had in fact spent a large part of yesterday at Sara's tavern, trying to drink away something he couldn't remember. That wasn't so odd, on its own. But if you step closer, suddenly Derrick is in full view. The shambling, drunken husk doesn't disappear, exactly, as that is exactly what Derrick is. But you start to see more of the gritty details. The many lines crisscrossing his bare forearms and hands, the mismatched pair of worn-down boots, the oversized coat with far too many buttons but instead held shut at the waist with an expensive-looking belt, the buttons and belt buckle themselves being made of real gold instead of wood painted, and everything coated and caked with enough ash for Derrick to have been sleeping in it. And then you see Derrick's face. His eyes draw the most attention; they dart from place to place as if attracted to everything that moves, bloodshot from weeks spent staring at a flickering fireplace or falling ash. Everything was covered in an uneven salt-and-pepper stubble that looked as if he'd shaved with the edge of a broadsword instead of a proper razor. One of his cheeks certainly bore a scar looking like he had. Then there was the heaving throat that seemed to treat inhalation and exhalation as the same process, the nose consistently up in a snarl... it was easy to see Derrick for what he was. A madman. If you didn't believe the initial appearance, there were stories. About how Derrick would wander the streets at night, the very mists rejecting him. About horrible places near the center of the Empire where those scars could have come from. How he'd sometimes simply vanish for days on end and return without warning. How he could sit as if dead for hours on end, ash slowly piling in his hair. And of course, the voices, the way he talked to someone who wasn't there, twisting his head around side to side, looking at things with one eye and the other. Some said he'd been possessed by a mistwraith. If you asked Derrick, he'd find it funny. Not many people asked. And if you still doubted, if you were to step closer still, you might notice... other inconsistencies. Perhaps a step or two more and you'd be able to pierce the charade of madness. But at that point, you'd be standing in Derrick's personal space. Derrick will ask you to leave. Derrick doesn't like people in Derrick's personal space, you see. Side note: I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow (yaaaaay), so I'll probably not be posting much or at all D1 to avoid posting while still on painkillers and saying who knows what. Letting you know now because I have a bad habit of being forced into inactivity when I'm Elim...

Einladung Hospital, Triage Ward "He's stable, but completely unresponsive," the orderly explained to the lead Edgedancer, pushing along a gurney. "Someone found him standing in the middle of the side street, like he'd just fallen asleep on his feet. Except nobody could get him to do... anything." The Edgedancer looked up from his paper at her. "So he's dead? Heart attack? Then why in-" "No, we can't get anything. He won't move, and he's perfectly rigid. It's like he's been petrified. I've never heard of anything that can do that." "I see." The Edgedancer inhaled a sphere of Stormlight, then removed one of his gloves and tapped a finger on the frozen boy's forehead. Nothing happened. "Send a message to the Scholar's Guild, I suppose. They may know something. In the meantime, I see no reason that his condition would deteriorate, so put him on a low priority. Have someone check him regularly and see if Jaan can Seek any residual Investiture when he gets the chance." The orderly nodded, and carted Byron away to the end of the wing.

One clarification: would being in a time bubble count as targeting Sanax (active Investiture drain), or as just being in his vicinity (a little fritzy but with Byron’s power level manageable)? Either way would be fine RP, but knowing whether or not Byron’s going to run out of cadmium around him would be helpful. Also, do we want Aln to run into Byron semi-randomly in the investigation or something else? He probably wouldn’t be near anyone with memory problems unless I put him in triage... he’s got a more unusual problem

They might have some others with wrong memories, or some clue as to what's happening... it sounds like Folorian and I are going through the normal way while Aln's trying to sneak around. Or something." He looked sheepishly at Aln. "Er... Aln, you could probably explain it better. I still have barely a clue what a normal Forgery is." "I don't really know... Compounding would explain why I'm so dependent on it. But I don't think I did that... I feel like I wasn't supposed to run into that thing. I think... but I don't think you can fight with bronze so maybe there was something else. A Ferring at least. Probably bronze. Maybe another Investiture or something. I don't know, sorry."
