Oh. Well, that changes my mind slightly :P. There's no reason not to just activate it now, then. We shouldn't put it off based on the assumption that we'll miskill today, that was Archer during the QF and we got Striker. And Striker's right in that it'd be best to see it used. Think about if we put it off until tomorrow, but exe an elim today- we miss out on a red flip. In theory. I don't remember how the Fang fits into the OoA, I'll go check that since clearly I don't remember the rules from when I read them over a week ago >> (Basically, Kas, don't feel the need to clarify right here I'll figure it out). If the Fang happens before execution we absolutely should do it today, if it happens after execution we still probably should but it matters less. I pick the first option The second one is theoretical and involves IKYKs

That last part is kind of why I’m leaning towards sooner rather than later. I don’t want to have to deal with the IKYKs involved with the elims being able to choose who is Fanged and if we do it now they have less time to mess with anything. It’s definitely possible to come to conclusions off a late game Fang flip but also pretty risky. I do like the option of waiting until two elims are dead to activate the Fang, with the caveat that we could do it sooner if we keep misexing :P. Again, I don’t really care.

We essentially have two options- activate the Fang right now, or not. We should discuss between the two but not let that topic take over the thread There’s also the option of not choosing anything and just seeing what happens I think personally I lean towards activating it sooner rather than later but I don’t really care as long as it happens :P. With 14 players I think the team could have three or four, leaning four because of the Fang but idk JNV

For what it’s worth, I didn’t read that in this way at all- to me it was nothing more than a bit of spren attitude In the same vein as Lift calling Wyndle a Voidbringer despite knowing otherwise, with obvious differences. But I read it as Aux being like, ‘Yes I am sir spren knight and u are my squire!’

Granted, it's a completely ordinary not-at-all spiked cookie. Now you can't give it to some poor unexpecting soul, and just have to eat it. I wish for what I'm thinking about at the current moment

[Reposting what I said on the reactions page] Looked up the definition of 'auxiliary', wondering if it perhaps could be the literal name of a Dawnshard. The definition is Which doesn't... really fit, but it kind of does? I feel like it only kind of fits because I want it to, though xD But no, the talk about oaths and things definitely implies Aux is a Radiant spren of some kind, probably an Honorspren but maybe an Inkspren or Reacher, because of the Skipping. I think Auxiliary as a name is interesting anyway since it literally means what Aux does (or is supposed to do) which isn't a spren naming convention I'm aware of.

If this is Valor's planet, I wonder what Whimsy and Mercy are like to be less reasonable xD I think Mercy at least we know is somewhat involved with Odium and Whimsy might be too whimsical to be of any use.

But yeah I share the general "what the storms" reaction to this in all the best ways, the Dawnshard implications and the fact that Sigzil became this worldhopping buff warrior is amazing to me, yet I can't help but feeling a bit bad for him... makes me want SA 5 even more >> And of course I love any bit of Hoid backstory, however small. The Connection mechanics drop was unexpected and welcome and I eagerly await the hour-long Shardcast discussion on the topic

I could see it being Valor. The definition of valor, the word, is "great courage in the face of danger, especially in battle" and while the constant race against the sun isn't a battle, per se, it most definitely requires great courage in the face of danger. I'm not sure how Brandon is planning on writing Valor, obviously, but an interpretation could be something similar to Nike in Rick Riordan's books- the kind of valor that is dangerously competitive. Valor, the Shard, could find it funny or perhaps meaningful to test people in this way. Do we have any tidbits about her character? Then again, it sounds like the people on this planet aren't natives, so that wouldn't really apply... though I don't know why anyone would settle on a place like this, so maybe it's something that started happening post-migration.

Stormlight Book 5: Kaladin and Moash Theory
Mat replied to Prince Du Pain's topic in Stormlight Archive
Definitely possible, but imo Moash is past the redemption stage, at least for me. If in RoW he had gone down a *cough* better path, I'd have bought the redemption arc, but at the stage he's at now, redeeming him would feel... cheap to me, I guess. I'd rather have him continue to spiral down and down until he just completely crashes and burns, and hey, he deserves it, but I think that'd be a more realistic way to end his story. You are right in that he feels sidelined for how important he is. The problem with my idea is, like you mentioned, his blindness. I don't really see how he could do much of anything in his current state :P. Or what Taravodium will think of him, if it's possible to heal his eyes and if Taravodium would. As much as I'd be disappointed if Moash suddenly wanted to be good, I'd be even more disappointed if he just wandered off and died at the start of book five I'm not sure how Kaladin would tie into any of this either, but I'm sure Brandon has a plan and I'd probably be sold on anything he wrote, even if it was a redemption arc. As far as I know spoilers are fine to be left unmarked in their appropriate book forums, maybe even outside of those. Provided it's been long enough after the book's release, which for RoW it has. It's always nice to be safe, so spoiling anything isn't a problem There's a spoiler policy page somewhere you can check out if you're interested. Welcome to the Shard! -
Couldn’t have been too hard, since he was correctly exed

Shards have Vessels, which have physical bodies. The WoB already mentioned answers this more outright, keep in mind that it doesn't specifically relate to Ruin/Preservation. Theoretically Honor and Cultivation could have children. I don't like the theory that Kaladin is a literal descendant of Honor, like, at all, but it's technically possible Are we? I mean, there's the epigraphs about Autonomy but that definitely doesn't relate to Roshar specifically and we don't really know what Avatars do in the cosmere anyway :P. You could see it that way, or just see it as a term people called him because he was really talented. Rosharans would see that as a blessing from the storm since the storm has a major significance to the planet and they swear by the Stormfather's name- really what I'm getting at is that I don't think the nickname means he was Connected to the highstorm, just that Rosharans considered him to be favored by the Stormfather. Well, Kaladin's the first person to draw interest from an Honorspren in a long time, plus the Honorspren he drew was the Ancient Daughter herself, so yeah I think Honor would be interested in talking to him Again, this is technically true but I don't think it means he's Connected to Honor in any special way that another Windrunner wouldn't be.

I think they can rotate who they want it to be on, but once it goes through it stays on whoever was last chosen.

SP3 link to roshar, is this Hoid?
Mat replied to Thaidakar the Ghostblood's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I definitely think, whoever the listener is, they're hearing the story in Era 4, late cosmere. -

Giant. Crows. Plus all that other stuff already mentioned. But giant crows xD In all seriousness, the cosmere infodumps were kind of insane, a Shard name, proof that Design can get off world (which we already guessed was possible but I don't think we knew?) and just general world stuff. I'm thinking the Nightmares and the Spirits are definitely connected in some way, like the Spirits are trapped as Nightmares until they're drawn by the Chosen or something. To me it doesn't really matter who Hoid's talking to since they're obviously extremely cosmere aware- someone mentioned Era 4 Rosharan and I like that idea but it easily could just be Era 4 anybody. This one probably takes the spot for my favorite of the secret projects (barely edging out Tress) but I think Four will inevitably end up being my favorite :P. I don't love body swap as a concept in general but this is different enough and most of my experience with the trope is bad movies, so I trust that Brandon can do better

I'll play, as a disturbed fellow who keeps his eyes down. He talks in furious spits, and is known only as Rambler. I assume Darkfriends can be both Elders and Veterans?

Obviously for future elim games you need to immediately out yourself Thanks for running the game, Lotus! It was fun to watch, and dying C1 again was fine I guess since I nailed Striker I do wonder why I was the priority kill target since the only elim I suspected was Striker and had died C1 recent ish but I don’t really mind. Just curious. Guess I’ll check the elim doc e!Kas and e!Orlok in the same game teaches everyone a good lesson about effort clearing and the danger of it I was happy to see people coming around by the end though. I wonder how much I would have, but seeing as how I sorta pushed Kas and Orlok to the side C1 and didn’t revisit them I, ah, maybe it was a good thing I died @Kasimir you played excellently as usual, glad you survived the game (literally and figuratively) On the topic of metaing alignments based on the latest games, I don’t really see that being too much of an issue since GMs are trolls to an extent and paranoia is real, but I guess we’ll see.

I think so- the homeschool courses I'm currently enrolled in are online, so I'm essentially my own teacher.

Have I really not posted here yet? Huh. I consider my first Sanderson book to be Elantris, but it really was Steelheart, in third or fourth grade. I have some recollection of thinking it was okay but being real confused at the ending, and I kinda forgot about it. Flash forward to late 2019/early 2020 (2-4 years later) where I'm tired of rereading Fablehaven and Percy Jackson over and over and over again (which, don't get me wrong, are both fantastic series) and I find Elantris on my bookshelf, where it had been sitting (alongside Mistborn 1) my entire life. I finished it within a week, and Mistborn immediately followed. I wish I remembered more of my experience reading Sanderson for the first time. I know I liked the books (hello, I'm here ) but my first go-through of MB, SA, etc I just don't remember too well. After I read Mistborn, Stormlight and everything else followed, cosmere and not- I can't remember at which point I figured out that the guy who had written Steelheart also wrote these other things, but it was definitely after I read Elantris and Mistborn. At some point I made my way here, after researching the coppermind to learn more about the cosmere, and now I'm more than halfway through the Gathering Storm. I remember rereading the cosmere, and some books (Warbreaker, RoW) I can recall my first time, but for the most part I just... know that it happened. And that I'm extremely grateful that it did.

mafia championship A Knock from Outside the Cosmere
Mat replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Oh yeah, Striker should have a nomination as well My availability depends on a few things, though that shouldn't be anything the game scheduling couldn't work around... If you're able to pick a lower post/lower aggressiveness game that'd be nice xD But I can accept the nomination, thanks!- 636 replies
