Idaho, Utah, and Arizona. Gotta love em for release time seminary. Also I am somewhat sad as tomorrow will be my last day of seminary ever. But it has been good and more religious education lies in my future. -
I agree that a combination of O/H would probably be someone vengancey. I’m hoping that storm light doesn’t end with another shard combination like mistborn but if it did Moash would be a good candidate. The person does not have to necessarily match the Intent of the shard as long as they are connected to it. So basically I’m saying I have no idea but I like the theory.

I just finished this one, and am not very happy. Someone explain to me why they couldn't use the inhibitor box that they found and then put it next to the boomslug-self-destruct-bomb-thing preventing the thing from going off and saving everyone. Is there some in-world mechanics I am missing or are our beloved characters just not the brightest? (I know that it is hard to think clearly in stressful situations, but I'm just saying that there is something they could have done and I thought of it off the bat.) Please explain to me why I am wrong because then I will be less angry. Thank You!

Okay. I'm listening to sunreach for the first time and am about halfway through. I just had my mind blown when I realized that boomslug is doing the same thing that defending elysium dude was doing (jason was it?). The mind blades. Sorry for all the typos and lack of capitalization. I was exercising and then had my mind blown and I just had to vent that somewhere. Thanks!

I'm actually a part of a DnD campaign right now based on Hollow Knight. I've never played the game so I have no idea how anything connects, but I'm liking the campaign so I might try it out. I have been meaning to watch A: TLA for the past 6 years probably and have never gotten around to it. I resolve now to do so sometime within the next century. I'm probably gonna post ideas I have for a soft-worldbuilt story here if I ever think of any. I'd like to give it a try, so I hope that's okay.

My school is putting on a talent show so some friends and I decided to put together a band (I play electric bass). We practiced our song and got it pretty good. Then auditions happened today so we had to come up with a band name. We had been throwing around some ideas, but I convinced them to settle on The Fires of Heaven. I have never been happier. This marks the beginning of a long career of naming stuff after fantasy stuff.
(Note to self: Future things to give Sanderson names: bands, hats, instruments, cats, children.)

@Goob Tips? I don't really know because I am mostly self-taught. I started out playing in orchestra, then joined jazz band and had to learn electric from a few songs in that. I've played in a rock band before, and for learning from tabs the best advice I can give is just general music advice. Practice slow and in small sections and make sure you know all the terminology. If you are wanting to go a jazzier/original side of things learn scales and chords and just listen to diverse types of music. Also, don't develop bad habits like putting your left thumb to the side of the bridge instead of on the back. I do that and haven't been able to kick the habit. Whoops. So yeah, that's my rambling, probably unqualified advice. Hopefully, that helps.
@DoomStick Nice. A good instrument indeed. Do you play it in an orchestra? I need a better name for my electric, and I have yet to christen my upright bass.

So start with the character. Then build elements of the world to support the character in their journey? Do you have some good examples (books preferably because libraries are free)? That would help me to get an understanding of the merits and characteristics of good, soft, world building. Thanks Fadran!

Sort of serious question: Where do I even start with soft world building? Serious question: Am I missing the point if I feel like I can’t properly present a world if I don’t understand all the details of said world?

Here is chapter two. I am nearly done with college applications and then I can finally focus on writing something actually enjoyable. I have gone through a revision of chapter one, so I'll update that but it isn't necessary to reread.

Great game guys. I thought we were totally dead after I forgot to log on for the first few days, but Araris and Sart bailed me out and continued to do so for the remainder of the game. Thanks Mat for GMing. The concept was wacky and fun and I greatly enjoyed the write ups.

Sounds good to me. I mean it also sounds very dangerous and supervilliany, but that is what keeps life exciting. With a huge unsealed gold mind you could just put it in a hospital to heal loads of different people. You could potentially use iron to make a black hole. I've seen other discussions on this though, so that probably isn't possible. Yeah. I see a lot of non battle applications with massive metalminds.

That makes sense. I think fortune could be luck but in hoid’s case it’s more of a being in the right place at the right time. Also connection would be better for getting Shaoded. It’s not purely random but more your connection to Arelon/Elantris. Makes sense.

I just realized the flaw in my argument yesterday. If we vote Araris today, then I NK him, we aren't going to find out his alignment until D5. The Elims could probably win by then, so I'm going to switch my vote off of Araris, and onto Szeth. I know that this puts me 1st in the vote, so if no one joins me on this then I'll switch back out of self-preservation, but I agree with Kas that we need an elim kill today, and we can't get that through Araris (assuming he is a thug).

Ah, but only if you are an American. The rest of the world does day/month/year (which makes so more sense, smallest to largest). Making today 11/12/21. Unfortunately I have typed cosmere terms and names so often that my Auto Correct just gave up and not only doesn't change them, but will now autocorrect other things into them. Maybe I'll keep track of those and post them here.

But he failed, so that is an invested art he doesn't have. Side question: could Hoid have tapped (or something equivalent) a bunch of fortune when near Elantris and gotten the Shaod to strike him? Perhaps that is evidence that the Shaod is not completely random...
