  1. this sounds too much like a horcrux from Harry Potter
  2. I don't know if this would work. Breath is almost entirely physical Realm and not Spiritual. Nicrisol seems to be mostly/entirely SR stuff Questioner With spikes, would you be able to actually transfer Breaths, when they get to the other planets? Brandon Sanderson So spikes rip off pieces of the soul and so Breaths are not going to be part of the soul. You could maybe get a divine Breath but I haven't really decided on regular Breaths, they're kind of stuck there in the Physical Realm which is not a thing that spikes are dealing with. Divine Breath, potentially, because that's something that's actually melding onto your soul. But, you know, when you're using the Breaths they reach through to the Spiritual Realm so, maybe if you got it while the Breaths were kinetic, right, while you're using them, then you might be able to rip them off. I'm not a hundred percent certain on that one. Bystander There's still things to decide upon. Brandon Sanderson Yeah there's still things, like I have to kind of see. My instinct says no right now. But, you know, how they interact is not something that I have-- Yeah. Shadows of Self London UK signing (Oct. 19, 2015)
  3. the mists were actively searching for someone to become the new Vessel of Preservation. The Mists/Leras chose Vin from a very young age to be this person. im assuming that when she was "chosen", the mists started to key to her Identity. Vin was only 1-3 years old when the Mists Chose her. Alendi probably also drew upon the mists at one point Brandon Sanderson Chapter Seventy-Nine The Mists Chose Someone There's a lot more going on behind the scenes than even the author of these epigraphs knows. Reasons why Vin was chosen, and why the power of Preservation needed a new mind to control it. The author is right in that Preservation did need someone to control its power, and it did seek for a host in which to invest itself. It began this search with what mind it had left about sixteen years before the return of the power to the Well of Ascension, just as it began a search for a new host before the return of the power the previous time. Unfortunately, just as Ruin took control and manipulated Alendi, he took control and manipulated Vin. The Hero of Ages Annotations (May 13, 2010) Questioner How was Vin able to use the mists against the Lord Ruler even though they hadn't been keyed to her? Brandon Sanderson That-- You are making an assumption there, and so tell him he might be making the wrong assumption. Skyward San Francisco signing (Nov. 8, 2018) The Lord Ruler held the power of the Well but was never Chosen by Preservation. Therefore, No Mist Burning
  4. A scene were Cultivation talks a bit about her and Honors relationship
  5. 1)what about all the other CS's that aren't related to Ambition? 2) wasn't talking about withering
  6. i haven't been wanting to admit they don't make sounds, but it seems you are right.
  7. "Curiously, the Aons produce sounds otherwise unused in the general languages of the area." She specifically says they make sounds that AREN'T used in the language And she says "Aons" not "aonic" which is the language "Most likely, the early Elantrians (who probably didn't even have Elantris back then) would have had to learn the Aons by trial and error, finding what each one did, and associating its meaning and sound with its effect"
  8. Breath is almost entirely in the Physical Realm. Hemalurgy is mostly/entirely Spiritual Realm stuff I bet Commands are mostly cognitive I imagine it'll be a mix of the original being's Identity and then it'll be shaped by the Breath which will probably be gaining a little sentience of it's own
  9. I think the Brandon WoB may be so. Khriss says "the Aons produce sounds" This is in the Arcanum which is more of the magic stuff that language, etc... "But who, then, created them? And did they create them to describe the landscape, or did the landscape somehow dictate the shape and sounds of the Aons?" -khriss
  10. " Curiously, the Aons produce sounds otherwise unused in the general languages of the area." -Khriss "First, the Aons have to be older than the Aonic language. They're based directly off of the land. So, the lines that make up the characters aren't arbitrary. Perhaps the sounds associated with them are, but the meanings–at least in part–are inherent. " -Brandon I think it all Aons make sounds when in effect
  11. Aren't All Aons said to also make a sound though?
  12. His method of healing is dealing heavily in the Spiritual Realm. Questioner My theory currently on Spiritwebs is that they are-- when they exist on the Spiritual Realm a person exists as nodes connected between concepts, Physical makeup, and whatnot, that’s what makes up your Spiritual DNA. Brandon Sanderson Mmhmm. Questioner Is there a different set of nodes for each person or do they all kind of share? Brandon Sanderson You're kind of imagining it the wrong way, each person is a node. Shadows of Self release party (Oct. 5, 2015) I think that the biggest part of the body in the PR get restored. If each person is a node in the SR the then getting your head cut off might be like cutting off a small part and the bigger part would be restored
  13. Valhalla So, you talked about a weapon made by the enemies of Adonalsium, and you said it doesn't exist in it's original form. Do any remnants of it still exist in the Physical Realm? Brandon Sanderson Yes. Valhalla Have we seen any of those remnants on-screen? Brandon Sanderson *pause* RAFO. In current continuity (and people would know this), Hoid's immortality comes from this. People who have read Dragonsteel know that. Idaho Falls signing (July 21, 2018) Pinpoint (paraphrased) If Hoid got beheaded, would his body grow a new head? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) Yes. Pinpoint (paraphrased) What if Hoid got cut by a Shardblade? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) The Shardblade cuts the soul and what Hoid does heals the soul. Words of Radiance release party (March 3, 2014) from these two WoB's we can confer that Hoids immortality is from the remnants of the "adonalsium weapon" and that when his spiritweb is injured he uses this to heal his spiritweb
  14. I'd say she was pretty spot on. She didn't know a lot but at least knew/believes in the 3 realms
  15. Ohhh.... This isn't necessarily indicative of anything, but 1st, 3rd and 4th of the sun all have the colors blue and green like the oceans and land 2nd of the sun only has the color blue like it doesn't really have land, which would most likely be needed for a "fully developed human society" It's almost nothing, but it's what I'm hanging on to.
  16. I like this one
  17. I wouldnt really call it "awakening". The breath is keyed to your Identity so when you give it a Command on yourself Its presumably messing with your Identity to do what you commanded. I dont think you can do it to someone else because you'd have to use your own breath which is keyed to you. The girls aura flickered probably because she was taking her breath, giving it a command and then investing back in herself. Since the breath is already in her it just moved around in her taking the command and applying it to her. Which is what caused the "flicker" And yes Vasher has used it on himself. Snote85 Did Vasher do to himself something similar to what Cultivation did to Dalinar, with his memory? I know in Warbreaker he says he knew the commands to take Denth's memories of things they'd done in the past away. Is there a chance he is not "whole" in his ability to recall his past? Brandon Sanderson It's safe to say that Vasher's memory has a few holes. General Reddit 2017 (Dec. 10, 2017) My best guess is that Vasher used this technique to forgot some things about Shashara
  18. Of course. But Im certain holding a shard would grant you the knowledge of what would happen if you touched/attacked another shards mindless power(or at least an inkling) Vin had just Ascended and she already knew that Ruin/Ati could die. Why wouldn't a newly Ascended Odium have similar knowledge of how things work. throwing your power at something is literally the simplest idea, im sure Odium thought of that after he killed Aona/Skai
  19. im not saying that Odium wasnt inexperienced, becasue he was. just because Odium didnt know much about splintering shards, it doesnt confirm he killed them in the way you're saying. I.e. Ramming them with his power
  20. They don’t have a lot of locations but I love Value Village. I swear I could live there
  21. ebay.com and Amazon.com Edit: i forgot Value Village
  22. no matter what, i always end up referring to them as not splintered even though i know they are i dont buy this one though. you think a super powerfull future seeing shard would be capable of knowing what would happen if he slammed his power into another shards. innate understanding
  23. Where do we know this from? i dont have a source. but if all it took was smashing your power agaisnt theirs. why didnt odium do the same to Aona & Skai. either because the process to splinter isn't as simple as you pose or becuse 2 loose shards might've been too much for him im going with the former
  24. but he still risks hurting himself through this method, which we know odium doesnt like to do. even though one of the powers doesnt have a vessel, they will still react to one another
