So it was all just to survive. The old rhythms and Glowing Eyes at will are just perks of that happening? Can listeners bond KR spren and not have them in their gemheart?
-
Why does it need to be captured anyway? As far as we know the spren can't leave the gemheart unless the singer willingly lets it(to change forms)
-
I believe Timbre is a Lightspren Maybe Venli swearing the oath made Timbre strong enough to capture a voidspren? Im not sure how though

Shouldn't the highstorm be a perpendicularity?
Eternal Khol replied to NiceBleach's question in Cosmere Q&A
The investiture comes from the SR through the Stormfather so its kinda like the stormfather is the perpendicularity -
Does Vasher (or, by extension, any of the other Five Scholars) know [REDACTED]
Eternal Khol replied to Staenbridge's question in Cosmere Q&A
I bet that since Breath is physical it can be commanded to do something like Lightweaving or the Elantris form. Just enough to slightly alter your looks -
I know right, and the fact that he said "her" instead of being more specific with a name. You can tell this command was like 5% saying the words and 95%visualization

Perpendicularities’ Role in the Cosmere
Eternal Khol replied to Confused's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The reason he said it was pre-shattering is because the shattering changed magics in some ways so it might be different now. And he wanted the reader to know that And he never said is wasn't possible during dragonsteel. He literally said "it's before the shattering" Yeah. But who would be thinking of atoms when Lightweaving? Microkinesis on the other hand, involved looking directly at atoms and manipulating them. It makes more sense(to me) that the people's who can actually see and mess with the atoms, would be the ones to name them. Edit: just found this one the theoryland INTERVIEW: Oct 6th, 2015 Shadows of Self-BYU THE FULGID Is it possible for there to be a microkinetic who can see spiritwebs to the point that they could alter a web, granting at will new abilities that were previously inaccesible? BRANDON SANDERSON It IS possible that a person could exist who uses micokinesis to see spiritwebs and alter them according to their will. However, Dragonsteel is pre-Shattering. (Which I infer to mean microkinesis no longer exists post-Shattering, when other magic abilities become prevalent.) @Confused -
It's not in warbreaker but in Oathbringer,

This isn't about shades but corrupted investiture in general but in Oathbringer, Kaladin states that So I think the effect is physical

I found Hoid! I've been on the lookout out for anything even remotely Hoid and finally found a reference to a man playing a "stringed instrument" in the Lord Artisan's waiting room in chapter 16 I wasn't sure how I'd confirm that it was Hoid(a nondescript guy mentioned one time isn't enough to go on) Then I had a epiphany "if he has a appearance in the Prose, he might have a corresponding appearance in the Graphic Novel" So I checked WhiteSand Vol.2(chapter 16 of the Prose is about halfway through the novel, so the corresponding scene would be in Vol.2 of the GN) until I found the same scene and Bam, there's Hoid, in the corner of the room, playing his instrument just like in the Prose. Here's the same scene in the Prose and Graphic novel. In the Prose it's about halfway through chapter 16 In the Graphic novel, it's White Sand Vol.2 page 28 near the top behind Ais on the left side of the page WhiteSand Prose: "The Lord Artisan’s waiting room was on the ground floor, and it was decorated with two dozen seals that N’Teese explained were representations of the Draft’s sub-Professions. Apparently, the Lord Artisan oversaw varied activities, including everything from carpentry and cobblery to medicine and painting. Khriss sat back on the bench. It was cushioned, though the cushion was, of course, filled with sand. There was a basin filled with drinking water, and even a man playing a stringed instrument quietly in the corner. I'm convinced that the man with the dark skin--coming out of the portal--is Taln I know a ton of people made the trip to Roshar so it might not be. but still...

What is your favourite spren?
Eternal Khol replied to Adonalsium'sSpren's topic in Stormlight Archive
I'm a fan of the Lesser Spren so I'd probably go with Lifespren or Awespren The KR Spren are more important but they're not the Spren that Rosharan's see everyday. The Lesser Spren make Roshar what it is and it just wouldn't feel the same without them -

Perpendicularities’ Role in the Cosmere
Eternal Khol replied to Confused's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Microkinesis literally allowed people to directly see and interact with a Spiritweb how they wish. Which could be very helpful in just about anything That's not just "it's you can interact with nature..." But I do agree that pretty much every "humans with magic" system arose after the shattering the.fulgid My question, in regards to Dragonsteel, is: Is there a possibility that somebody with the ability of microkinesis can see the spiritweb and alter it according to their will? Brandon Sanderson This is, this is totally possible. But you have to remember this is pre-Shattering of Adonalsium. Dragonsteel is the story of the Shattering of Adonalsium... the whole book is before, the whole series... So there are lots of things going on there that are-- like you will-- yeah. But it’s not canon yet. Shadows of Self release party (Oct. 5, 2015) ccstat There IS historical precedent of accidentally setting off fission reactions in the cosmere using the magic Now this is a story I look forward to hearing :-) Brandon Sanderson One of the first magic systems I designed for the cosmere was based on the manipulation of sub-atomic particles, and involved the ability to look directly at atoms and interact with them. I decided to back off on this, as it was a whopper of a magic system to get right with my limited (at the time) writing experience. It was fun, though, and is still a canonical Cosmere magic. Perpendicularities’ Role in the Cosmere
Eternal Khol replied to Confused's topic in Cosmere Discussion
He was kind iffy on it but he did say that worldhopping wasnt as common and there were few instances. He was solid at first then questioned himself then stated "yeah there were a few instances." Another WoB saying worldhoppers indeed were a thing back then. I bet they did it with a technique similar to an Elsecaller. Making a mini perp Questioner (paraphrased) Before the Shattering, was Worldhopping from Yolen possible to other worlds like Roshar, etc.? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) I'm gonna say yes, it was possible--but it was a lot more difficult to pull off. Not nearly as frequently as now. Prague Signing (Oct. 26, 2019) Lightweaving. Microkinesis Just a few examples from Yolen I dont know about this. a perpendicularity is nothing compared to the actual shard who powers the magic -
Got me there lol

Back to sand mastery. sand mastery starts with the Bond. You give the sand some water and it reacts and then the user pulls investiture straight from the Spiritual Realm to control said sand. You have to give water to the sand to initiate the bond. Anytime you give the sand water, it creates a reaction. Even if the sand isnt being controlled. In the prologue of Whitesand when the initiates are proving they can master, kenton only make a little spark. Like all he was able to do was give it a little bit of water and not control it. Khriss wasnt able to get any reaction out of the sand when she tried to master which makes me think she was never able to do the 1st step which is bonding the sand/giving it water So how do you get initiated and be able to give the sand water and make the bond? "Certain people can control this reaction, using the water from their own bodies to forge a brief Cognitive bond. They can draw Investiture (in very small amounts) directly from the Spiritual Realm, and use that to control the sand."

Im referring to the ones that aren't aware/their own being Brandon said that some of the Avatars aren't aware but Bavadin always is. That kinda fits into this "It was as if the sand had its own consciousness--a consciousness that had no form until he gave it direction." "The Avatar itself became his mind--not in a sense of ability to think or reason, but more in the way it processed sensual information. It divided his concentration, allowing his mind to focus on several different tasks at once."
-
I never realized how similar the sand and Avatars until I read all of your post. In the that first quote you posted with kenton describing what sand mastery is like, you could just replace with the word "sand" with "avatar" and its like a perfect description of an avatar. Without really know what they are of course I switched "sand" for "avatar" "It was as if the Avatar had its own consciousness--a consciousness that had no form until he gave it direction. However, with the slightest command from him, it moved, seeming to understand his orders without his needing to complete the thought. Holding the Avatar somehow expanded his mind. The Avatar itself became his mind--not in a sense of ability to think or reason, but more in the way it processed sensual information. It divided his concentration, allowing his mind to focus on several different tasks at once."
