  1. I'm on my phone and can't find a way to delete the spoiler tag thing, any way to do this?
  2. I think his Investiture is on Threnody along with ambitions. We know that the color red is usually a sign of corrupted/coopted Investiture. A little theory of mine is that shades are of both Ambition and Odium and when the shades eyes turn red, when you break the simple rules, they are using both shards Investiture or something of the sort. Feel free to poke holes in this. I just came up with it today
  3. Oops, didn't see that. My bad.
  4. The bands of mourning are just pieces of metal that a human/humans added their own power too. Shardblades are literally Honor's Investiture condensed so much it took the form of "metal" Of course they're more powerful
  5. Done. Ty ty
  6. Thats where I got a lot of this. I bet that shades start out in the CR but almost immediately after, get pulled into the PR and become what we know as shades. Maybe Silence has some form of bond with the shade of her grandmother and that's why she's a little more aware/cognizant than the rest
  7. It could be anybody. Brandon said that once interplanetary travel is easier, the magics will start to blend. So it could be Rosharans with Scadrial Tech It could be Scadrians with Rosharan tech. It could be literally anyone
  8. i have a theory about shades. it might already be out there but i havent seen anything. so my theory is about shades and why they are less aware than other CS's my theory is that the reason that they are less self aware is that they are mostly stuck in the Physical Realm. most other CS's we've seen have always been in the cognitive realm. there are a few exeptions however such as the "mist spirit" on Scadrial. We know that when someone dies on the Physical realm, they lose all connection to their body and are now a CS in the Cognitive Realm. why then are shades manifesting on the Physical Realm? I dont know. and why do look less like their former selves over time? my best guess is that that like all other CS's, shades are drawn to The Beyond, but instead of choosing to stay or go, shades are slowly losing bits of themselves to The Beyond P.S. how invested are Shades? A normal human would get sucked into the beyond almost instantly. A misting/mistborn would probably last a few minutes/hours shades can at least go Decades though
  9. Didn't know you could @ someone, thanks for the tip
  10. I'm a little more certain on this now. The Formers two sons(Agaris and Makkal) each held a separate part of The Formers power(Order & Chaos) In chapter 27 Makkal gives it away So combined, the brothers held all of The Former's power, which was everything in the Universe or Cosmere He had to have been a early Adonalsium.
  11. In chapter 27 when Raeth does what he does, it seems that Makkal and Agaris were "destroyed" along with the Pools in Vae Annitor and Saeris Va. They ended up being released and reformed because even though the Pools and everyone/thing connected to them were destroyed, their spirits arent so easy to destroy. As stated in chapter 26 they both needed Decay to destroy the others spirit forever. Even though they were "destroyed" in the blast when Night and Illuminous merged, they were reborn because there spirits weren't destroyed.
  12. I bet it would affect them in some way. If It did, I bet the effect would be different or minor
  13. Intent was there before the shattering. But I don't know if it was called intent back then? Part of WoB: "I always imagine Investiture having certain states, certain magnetisms if you will, associated with certain aspects of Adonalsium. So it's all "assigned" to a Shard--because it's always been associated with that Shard. To Investiture, Adonalsium's Shattering meant everything and nothing at the same time."
  14. "Takes the form of an embedded crystal on the back of their bearer's hand," Small Error here: Amberite buds are located on the palm of the hand not the back.
  15. I use the Wayback Machine for everything! It's so helpful in cases like this
  16. I was reading chapter 21 and noticed a similarity between something Raeth thinks and Shadows For Silence in the Forests of Hell Raeth is trying everything he can think of to try and stop the Forgotten army from Advancing. And he says they already tried a number of different tactics including... "clever battlefield layouts, to traps and holes dug in the ground, to throwing silver dust at the creatures--a method some legends claimed would ward away Forgotten spirits." this sounds an awful lot like the idea was transplanted into Shadows For Silence. This is why I love reading Brandons Unpublished works. It's cool to see early concepts that he later polished and transplanted into the published Cosmere.
  17. Exactly. And this fits in with the whole "they aren't aware but Bavadin always is" WoB Bavadins mind isn't infinite like her power, so she creates these Avatars with some form of consciousness, so instead of having to actually move or focus her Nexus somewhere else which would take a lot of energy or whatever;she can just jump into or focus on that Avatar instantly because they are already there and they are a part of her. So with these Avatars in place she can tinker around and see what going on with all these world that she's not actually on, but she is, in a way.
  18. I wouldn't call the Avatars splinters. They're close but... A Splinter to me, is when a Shard willingly or unwillingly gives up some of their power. Usually to create something with it.(spren, seons, returned, etc...) Now, a shard still has some control over that splinter, but not as much now that it's its "own" being But with an Avatar, its like Autonomy isn't separating that power from herself.it's still part of her being... just not... It's like with spren. I'll uses Honorspren as an example. So Honorspren are just a chunk of Honor's Investiture that after laying around for so long gains Sentience or Sapience. They still have a deep connection to Honor because they are made from a chunk of his power but their thoughts and actions aren't tied to the Vessel of the Shard. With an Avatar, their mind is directly tied to the Vessel of the Shard. WoB says that if a Avatar formed on its own(which is possible) the Vessel would be aware of it. There's no way they couldn't be. Also that "The avatars aren't necessarily aware but Bavadin always is." so I think what Bavadin is doing is finding pools of her power and giving them some semblance of a mind(enough to be somewhat aware but not enough to be an individual), so that while they aren't really aware, and can't do much, Bavadin is always aware and with these Avatars already in place she is able to further stretch her mind and find out what's happening in different places in the cosmere. as for the different personalities, I think each one has some aspect of Bavadin in them
  19. Brandon has said that everything happening on FoTS could happen with or without a shard present. And that the Investiture there was already there before the shattering
  20. A lot of people i see talking about AoN seem to think that the Former was a early version of Preservation. We know that Decay was adapted into Ruin but Brandon never said the same for the Former To me its always seemed like "The Former" was a very early analogue of Adonalsium, back before Brandon knew exactly what he wanted it to be What do you think?
  21. I'm sure the it works different, but Sha and Lum are also in Final Empire Prime
  22. Here it is "The fighting continues, the voice said, speaking as if it hadn’t heard Raeth’s request. Their hatred is strong. Their first gifts failed because they were too easily manipulated, so my sons turned to that which is creation itself. Order and Chaos, Light and Dark, Sha and Lum. From these they crafted gifts. Dark, hateful gifts. Powers that draw upon the essence of that which MAKES. Each time, the power was not pure enough, and the edge given to their people was not decisive enough. Ferrous and Bestarin canceled one another. More was necessary. Amberite and Verdant canceled one another. Then my sons did that which was forbidden, granting men Order and Chaos in pure forms."
