    The man turns his head, eyes moving uselessly. Then he freezes, blind eyes locking on to Rebus.

    The nanomachines that enter the unfortunate person show evidence of power source suppression in the brief moments before they are disabled. It was Subversion, and I will take vengeance on her myself. I am still immune to Narration, even if I’m not an Enuller, I’ll find some way to kill her. The man’s eyes burn with hatred even as they dull into blindness. All my father did was ask to avoid his fated fading, and look what she did to him! He’s nothing more than a monster now. My mother went to ask Subversion to change him back, and instead she got the same fate! I’m all that’s left, and I will kill Subversion and end my parent’s suffering one way or another. The last light fades from the man’s eyes, but the anger remains.

    The pain faded quickly. writes the unfortunate person. The numbness is what I write of. I can barely feel anything sensation. My ears dull, my eyesight dims. I fear that soon all of my senses will be utterly destroyed. “Please rise. I am merely a humble smith, unworthy of your praise.” The pounding of metal on metal ceases as the Dreamsmith stands up from his forge, walking over to kneel in front of the Emperor. “These demons sound terrible. Do they have any strengths that make them difficult to defeat or weaknesses that can be exploited? What sort of weapon should I forge you?”

    The man wrote quickly. How do the Enullers stand it?

    The man gives up his attempt to speak with no voice. He mimes writing something.

    Unfortunately, Rebus’s screens lose contact with the nanomachines before they can remove the Nullite. The convenient person stands up slowly, wavering on his feet. He looks down at his hands in shock, then looks at Rebus. His mouth moves as if he is speaking, but still no sound comes out.

    Again Cricket felt as if someone was watching him, stronger than before.

    The convenient person screamed Silently until his lungs gave out, then slumped to the ground.

    The convenient person opens his mouth and screams without sound.

    “Excellent! So you’ll give me the tattoos?”

    “Of course I want this!” The convenient person laughed. “If you give me those tattoos, I’ll be able to take revenge on that horrible monster of a Narrator that doomed my entire family to eternal torment!”

    Again, there was no answer. The feeling was now only a quiet nagging in the back of his head, barely noticeable.

    There was no answer, and the sensation of being watched began to fade slowly.

    A convenient person appeared. “Hi! I’m a good person to test Nullite tattoos on!” A chill run down his spine, and he felt as if someone he could not see was watching him.

    Moni rolled her sleeping bag over to Faunus. “Hey. Can’t sleep either?” She adjusted her pillow to be more comfortable. “What’s keeping you up?”

    Yeah, I don’t think anyone’s dropped it.

    Moni pulls a sleeping bag for each member of the party from her pack, then lies down. Dropped as in physically dropped? Not that I can specifically remember. Dropped as in people know it exists? yeah, a few do. Perseus included. Moni doesn't go to any effort to keep it secret. The Wise Judge stared at Selppaenip with utter confoundment. "Wizard," He said finally, turning his attention to the accused. "Are you certain you do not wish to request a different lawyer? This one does not seem... experienced." The Great Wizard remained silent, and eventually the Wise Judge sighed. "Very well. Which charges do you plead guilty to?" ... stood, repeating what he'd said to Selppaenip. The Wise Judge nodded. "In that case, we shall focus our trial on those claims you have pled not guilty to. Prosecution, call your first witness." The Adventurer's lawyer stood dramatically. "As my first witness, I call... Platypus!" @Ookla the Arbiter "He definitely existed." Subversion started writing in her book. "But I have no idea where he is right now, and can't find him without my Narration. Can't quite remember his lore either, aside from the dehydration problem." "Um... sort of, yeah." The traveler opens her mouth to tell Nogard the truth about TLT so that she could see what he came up with, then freezes. Try as she might, she finds herself completely unable to force the words out. Huh. She put safeguards in? Smart. She covered her pause with a cough. "How've you been?"

    Moni grimaced. "Not a traditional one." She said vaguely. "Amnesia? Sounds traumatic." She said a little too quickly, rubbing her left shoulder awkwardly. The traveler shrugs. "Sure. As good as any answer can be."

    Moni narrowed her eyes at Faunus. "The kind who do weird stuff, obviously. Do you have a backstory?"

    "Good. Hate to be travelling with one of the worse Narrators. This Faunus might actually be alright, as long as she doesn't turn out to be one of the weird ones." As she spoke, Moni's voice raised perhaps just a little bit too much, in such a way that her last words might catch the attention of a Narrator who wasn't paying much attention. @LessName No need to worry, she only loses control of it on rare occasions.

    "Interesting." The traveler files this information away mentally. "Thanks for the answer." Moni shook her head quickly. "It's not that. Aspiring to heroism is a good thing. Some Narrators convince themselves that they're heroes despite only rarely doing anything resembling heroic." She frowned, fingering the dagger at her side. "Any Narrator wholly convinced of a thing like that is dangerous."

    Another might have been concerned for Lady Bug, but Subversion had not created the traveler to have such worries. Instead, she looked at Gail. "Hey! Is there a reason you care about people?"

    "No actually, although I did get confused there about who I was talking to. Could you send me back? Nogard might come up with an answer if I tell him the truth."

    On the contrary, it's an advantage. As long as they're paying attention, Shards are capable of experiencing time at just about any speed they wish. It can be a disadvantage, but only if they let it.

    "Good." Moni continued whispering as well, although she was certain Faunus could hear them. "No hero complex?" ... glanced back, for a moment to shaken to answer. "Tell them we're arguing not guilty of murder, conspiracy to claim the Plotblades, and conspiracy against the Order. But guilty of spying on the Order and resisting arrest." He paused, then continued. "It's not technically a crime to conceal things from the council and act independently, so long as it's not done with ill intent." Subversion affected not to hear as she walked back to the guest room. "Who said you were crazy?" Subversion sat down in a comfy chair and pulled out a book and quill. "I know." Palsu's looked down, brushing tears from his eyes under pretense of shifting his light blond hair out of his face. "I'll try to be on guard." The Emperor's surroundings melt away into mist, the cloaked woman and her dread blade vanishing. "A noble answer." The clanging of hammer on anvil fills the Emperor's ears, resonating with the metallic tone of the voice that now speaks. "You seek to defeat evil with morals intact. A worthy goal. Now, tell me about these inhabitants of the Maelstrom." The motion is acknowledged, but the reply is postponed to the end of the trial. "Hey Haly, do you have an answer for me yet?" The traveler pops her head up next to Nogard and Haly, blue eyes downcast. "Oh, hello Nogard. Didn't see you there."
