  1. “The Emperor? That guy over there? Why are you bugging him?”
  2. The traveler yelps again, cradling her likely broken hand. “Hey! What do you think you’re doing?”
  3. The traveler yelps, hitting Sain in the face by reflex as he pops out of a portal next to her.
  4. Why do you collect cookies?
  5. “Um, hello?” The traveler stares at the Emperor with a slightly stunned expression. (She and Tam had already been here, and so were immune to the no-following allowed rule)
  6. The traveler follows, stepping through into a strange place. It seems almost like a plane designed so that only one person can enter. @Ookla the Cookie Collector
  7. "Cool!" The traveler looks slightly apprehensive as she approaches the portal. "I don't suppose you want to go first?" "No one has the answer." Eof called over his shoulder. "If you wish to help, then you must make certain that the right person finds the answer." Then he was gone, vanished from Bacon's sight. "A couple things, actually." Subversion glanced down at her checklist. "First of all, I'd like to ask about your TLT emigration policy in regards to ex-Narrators." "Everyone might be unique, but weapons that can damage Narrators are not." Unintelligible paced restlessly. "Mordite Blades have similar effects. They can cause unhealing or at least very slowly healing wounds. Even Narrators can be permanently damaged by them. So maybe someone who knows about Mordite injuries would be able to help you!"
  8. The traveler blinks, taking in the new knowledge and skill. “Thanks! That’ll come in handy on the adventure, I’m sure.” She looks down at the map as they reach a small hill. “This should be it. But I don’t see a portal anywhere.” — Subversion appeared in front of a building in a city holding a checklist and a pencil. She glanced quickly at the first item on the checklist. 1: Visit the Enullers she nodded, checking off 1a: teleport to the Enuller’s front door, then walked into the door and waved to the receptionist. @Ookla the Bacon
  9. “That’s also convenient! I guess I was wondering if you could teach me. Subversion gave me a sword,” the traveler gestures to the sword at her waist. “but didn’t tell me how to use it. “You can’t.” Eof turned his back to Bacon abruptly. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I promised my wife I would not be more than ten minutes late even if the Thread itself was ending and if our conversation drags on any longer I will be. Before you ask, I am aware of what Onyx will do if Subversion kills Nogard.” He began walking away again, more quickly than before. “I’m afraid that sometimes, you must let people come to their own conclusions, act as they see fit, and deal with the consequences.”
  10. “That’s convenient. Do you know how to use a sword?” “Perhaps there is. But she will not find it.” Eof replied.
  11. The traveler walks swiftly. "What supplies do you need for an adventure? Because I don't have them." "Not healing?" Unintelligible stood up, concern returning to his face. "That's not good. You need a doctor." He hesitated. "Do... Narrators have doctors? People who are knowledgeable about Narrator injuries?" Eof stopped and turned to face Bacon. "That is what I thought, yes."
  12. “Yeah!” The traveler starts walking in what she hopes is the right direction.
  13. "Well it could be a map of where we are. And it doesn't, it just says 'portal to adventure' over a swirly circle thing." The traveler squints at the map. "At least I think that's what it says. The map's in a weird font."
  14. "Well, yeah. But I couldn't." The traveler flips the map around and examines it. "Hey, I can read part of it! It says there's a portal to adventure here. A few miles away from that place that might be here, assuming the scale's correct this time."
  15. "I could read it when I bought it! And the map store people said it was the only one they had that would show me Onyx's realm!" The traveler grimaces. "They charged a lot for it too. Used up all the money Subversion made me with."
  16. "Maybe? I'm... not very good at reading maps." The traveler flips the map around and shows it to Tam. "There is something marked on here that looks like it could be this house, but I can't read the language it's written in."
  17. "It doesn't show Onyx's realm anymore." The traveler turns the map from side to side as she inspects it. "It's some other place now."
  18. "Is Platypus technically a Narrator? Something about that seems wrong..." The traveler frowns at her map. "Either my memory is having problems, or this thing's not the same as it used to be."
  19. "Well, that's alright." The traveler looks down at her map. "Tam, do you know where the other Narrators are? I've already asked you, Bacon, and Rebus for help, and I doubt Onyx has any answers."
  20. “I see.” The traveler considers this answer. “I don’t believe that my Author writes the way yours does, exactly. But thank you for your answer. It’s something to think about.”
  21. "Great!" The traveler clears her throat. "Why should anybody care about other people in the face of the crushing knowledge that our existence is entirely fictional?"
  22. "Don't worry Tam. Someone has to have an answer." The traveler waves at Rebus. "Hi! Can I ask you a quick question?"
  23. The traveler nods. "That's alright. I'm certain that one of the other Narrators has this all figured out in a way that Subversion will accept."
  24. "Given that we live in a fictional world, what do you care about and why?" The traveler shrugs. "Put another way, why should I care about little things like Nogard, the lives of others, and my own happiness?"
