  1. Malevolence grabbed the phone from his pocket. "Yes?" "What about Moniker? Would you erase her memories of 655?" The Priest sniffed. "Only the entire ceremony."
  2. Malevolence gasped as the field fell, color returning to the pavilion. "Impossible! The machine was shielded!" Malevolence's suit moved dodged or blocked Cricket's attacks automatically, moving under the direction of its combat protocols. "You think I can't beat you just because you've got your powers back? Well I've prepared for this eventuality!" Malevolence lunged for Cricket, well-tailored suit transforming into a full suit of black armor with boosters on the back that accelerated him forward with incredible speed. "Prepare for death Cricket! I will-*thunk* Malevolence's cry of agony was muffled by his faceplate as a black spike clipped his leg. The other two spike shot up so that he was trapped between the three, blood leaking from his right leg. His armor powers up with red energy, lasers shooting out and slicing him free. Metal seals over his wounded leg, and he turns towards Tempest, boosters moving with incredible speed. Heroes have such weaknesses. All I need is a hostage, and- "Villain!" The Priest bellows. "You have no place here!" Golden light explodes from his book, thousands of letters wrapping around Malevolence and holding him in place. "This day is a day of happy endings! A day when the life of Julian and the life of Tempest come to an end, a day when the life of Julian and Tempest begins. On this day two stories are merged into one story. And that story has no place for one such as you!" More and more letters swirled out of the book, cocooning the wedding-disturber until he could no longer be seen through the magnificent mass of glowing characters. "Begone! Begone from this place and trouble us no more." There was a flash of pure light, a sound like the shattering of glass, and then silence. The Priest straightened his robe, a satisfied expression on his face. "Well that settles that. Bat, my thanks to you in handling that ruffian." The cocoon of golden letters returned in a stream to his book, revealing that Malevolence had vanished. Nodding to himself, the Priest turned to Julian and Tempest. "I now pronounce you man and wife." He said simply. "You may kiss the bride."
  3. "Thanks for complying." A cage bursts from the ground around Tam. "I'll deal with you after Cricket is dead." The Priest was very tempted to be frustrated with the thickness of Bat's skull, but frustration interfered with focus, so he focused on focusing instead. With a monumental effort, he managed to make the letters shift. "NULLITE IN MACHINE. USE POWERS. BREAK MACHINE." "I will do no such thing." Malevolence grinned. "I will kill you, then I will kill everyone else here, starting with that stuck-up priest. No, actually I'll kill the bride and groom first. Then I'll kill the priest. And once everyone else is dead, I'll take Tam to my master."
  4. "I said step inside the field. Not just close to it." Malevolence snapped. The energy dissolved almost immediately. "I'm afraid it's rather difficult to maintain any kind of energy constructs in this field. It's why I'm not using lasers." Malevolence said helpfully.
  5. Malevolence's smiled widened. "Very well. Step into the field." Something invisible deflected his blade. "Did I mention the atomic bladewires yet? The name's a misnomer. They're a bit more than a single atom thick. But they are invisible. And practically indestructible." He bowed to Cricket. "What am I saying? Please, continue in your delusions of defeating me." With intense concentration, the Priest manages to send a few more letters managed out of the field to Bat. They arranged themselves quickly. "Nullat in achin. *shuffle* brak achin."
  6. "Na" The letters spelled. Then they rearranged themselves. "Brak Nullat." They spun around again. "Nullat." *shuffle shuffle* "achin." The Enulling field dissipated Cricket's blast before it could hit Malevolence. "How are you doing that?" Malevolence asked. "No matter. I'll review the data to find out how to prevent this later." He pointed the shotgun spear at Cricket and opened fire, spraying a wall of metal towards the fledgling Enuller. A metal shield sprouted from Malevolence's suit to block the bullet. The thread trembled around Rebus. Run. it seemed to whisper. Flee before it is too late.
  7. "I'm afraid it matters very little." Malevolence stood, dusting off his unrumpled suit. "I'll kill him no matter what he does, you see."
  8. A metal helmet grew over Malevolence's face, causing Cricket's attack to do little besides hurting his fist.
  9. Malevolence let him, and didn't even flinch. "Come now. Is this all you've got? I haven't even had to activate my full-body nano-armor, or use my atomic bladewires! I'd hoped to gain some valuable fighting experience against you, but it appears you're basically unskilled." The bullet bounced off an energy shield. "Nullat. Brak." The letters spelled.
  10. The rock slammed down on Malevolence's face and cracked. "If it bothers you so much, perhaps you should consider becoming powerful enough to protect yourself?" He slammed his head towards Cricket's face in a headbutt.
  11. Above the pavilion, Bat saw a metallic orb hovering in the air, projecting the Enulling field. "Braac achin" the golden letters spelled. "I do as my master commands!" Malevolence called back. "And I assure you that he has not commanded me to kill either of you. I am allowed to kill Cricket if he resists, but my orders are to take you both alive if possible." Malevolence laughed, tossing Cricket to the ground "I've always wondered why you heroes bother having hearts. It makes you so easy to manipulate."
  12. Malevolence easily caught Cricket’s hand, then grabbed him by the throat and stood, lifting him into the air. “You cannot stop me. In fact, I rather think that you’ll make excellent bait!” He turned towards the edge of the field and shouted with a voice enhanced by his technology. “Tam! Come back into the field or Cricket dies!” The golden letters did a happy tumble as Bat left the field. Then they did their best to arrange themselves into a message. There weren’t many of them though, so it wasn’t a very good message. It read: “laoc uq.” The ground beneath Malevolence’s feet remained quite solid. “Well?” He asked loudly. “Do you care so little for your friend that you would watch him die?”
  13. The knife deflected off of Malevolence's suit as if it hitting solid steel. "I'll dare whatever I want to!" Malevolent's spearhead rearranged into a shotgun-like shape, and he took aim at Cricket. "Any last words?"
  14. "I have very little idea what any of that means, and wouldn't care if I did!" Malevolence easily avoided Cricket's attack and stabbed at his arm with the glowing spear. "In the unlikely case that you're not lying, I'll simply kill you before they arrive." The answering machine changes its tone immediately. "Apologies, dishonored one. What is it you wished to inform Malevolence of? He is currently quite busy." The golden letters waved from the beyond the edge of the Enulling field, trying to get Bat's attention. Malevolence glanced over at her and smiled. "Excellent. She will be easy to capture after I kill you."
  15. Malevolence didn't even stumble. "I see." He muttered, checking his watch. "You can Enull the Enulling around you, allowing use of your powers. However, if I just adjust the field a bit, there should be no issue..." The area around Cricket darkened further and he felt the Enulling around him drastically increase in strength. "A bit beyond my safety-tested parameters." Malevolence noted. "But what kind of an evil genius would I be if I didn't build my machines to be durable?" The silver phone went to voicemail. "Leave a message after the beep or I will track you down and destroy you utterly." Said Malevolence's voice. @Halcyon The Only
  16. Malevolence dodged with incredible speed and a whir of hidden motors. "Pity your powers won't work in this Enulling field. This is almost too easy." He attacked with enhanced speed, spear stabbing at Cricket's leg.Behind Cricket, the Priest has closed his eyes. The light of the book begins to pulse, growing ever so slightly brighter. If she was in the field it would either trap her in that form or Nullify it, depending on how she Narrated herself into the bird. If she viewed it as fully transforming into the bird, something she'd have had to undo via Narration then it would stay. If she viewed it as a more temporary thing then it would be Nullified. A few golden letters crept along the ground towards Bat, managing to escape the Enulling field around the pavilion before it suppressed them fully. The Dreamsmith bows his head humbly. "I do not deserve this station and I can do little to help your empire. But I shall do my best to be worthy of this honor. Thank you."
  17. Malevolence laughed. "That is not how this will go. This crowded place full of innocents suits me very well don't you think? Furthermore, I spent fa-" Golden letters slammed into the villain suddenly, forcing him into the air and singeing his suit with heat. "Did you think this the first time some miscreant has attempted to prevent a wedding I was running?" The Priest's expression rates Malevolence as less than a piece of slime on the bottom of his shoe as he holds forth his massive book, sending waves of golden light to ensnare the fledgling mastermind. "Your conflict has no place here. Marriage is terrible eh? Once this wedding is over I'll show you terrible. You think you can just waltz in here and-" "Marriage is terrible, and we would be better off without it." Malevolence's eyes burned with hate as he looked upon the Priest. "When I rule," He said, glancing upwards. "They shall neither marry nor be given in marriage." At his words, all color leeched from the air of the pavilion. The golden light of the words holding Malevolence winked out. Even the light of the Priest's book dimmed until it was barely discernible as golden at all. In moments, that book was the only source of color beyond black, white, and grey except for Malevolence himself, and his glowing spear. "My thanks to Bat for the gift of that Nullite." He said, advancing towards Cricket. "An incredible substance that I wish I'd known of before my first attempt on your life." He grabbed it, but ignored it for the moment. The Dreamsmith frowns quizzically, but kneels as the Emperor asks.
  18. Subversion sniffed again. "So what are you doing to 656? Erasing her memories?" We will search. The rabbit says. And when we have found this worthless paper, we will feast on the lifeblood of worlds. It hops away cheerfully, leaving a trail of dead plants in its wake. "And may you succeed in the task set before you." Is the Dreamsmith's reply. A door appears behind the Emperor. "That will lead back to your empire. I apologize for keeping you so long." -- The Priest held his breath as he waited the prescribed amount of time for an objection. As it expired, he let out a relieved breath. "Julian and Tempest, I pro-" "I object." Malevolence appeared in a crackle of leftover teleportation energy, stray bolts of lightning scarring the green grass around him. His youthful face wore a cocky grin, and he was dressed in a black suit with a blood-red button up shirt beneath it. In his right hand he held a glowing spear. "I find this union to be most objectionable on the principle that marriage is terrible." He pointed the spear at Cricket. "I'm here for him. And also the Narrator Tam, who I see is missing at the moment." The Priest's mouth moved downwards into a dangerous frown. "You dare interrupt this sacred ceremony for such a pathetic reason?" Malevolence ignored him. "Well Cricket? Up for fighting at a wedding?" @Through The Living Glass @Ookla the Irreplaceable @Halcyon The Only
  19. The Priest chuckled warmly and turned to the crowd. "If there is anyone here who has a reason to prevent this wedding then speak now, or forever hold your peace." He paused, expression slightly nervous. Palsu hurried after Faunus, wiping his face off with the handkerchief. "Hey Perseus, where did you put Moni down anyways? And why'd you leave her bag just lying on the ground like this?" "You are welcome." Omen says simply. So they survived the radiation poisoning? How unfortunate for me. I was hoping that would wear them down further. Malevolence was quite intrigued by this other offer, but had no time to send a response, busy as he was hurriedly preparing for another strike. Definitely not a response similarly encoded. Moni was missing, unfortunately, so Perseus could not carry her.
  20. "Tempest, will you have this man to be your lawful wedded husband, to live together after God s ordinance in the Holy Estate of Matrimony? Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others keep you only unto him as long as you both shall live?" The Priests words echoed throughout the pavilion, clear to all.
  21. "I... oh, I'm sorry." Palsu attempted to rub the blood off his face with his sleeve, to little effect. "Er, does anyone have a handkerchief?" The Priest nodded to both of them. Then he opened his book to begin the ceremony. light burst forth from the pages, words inscribed as if from glowing liquid gold. The Priest barely blinked at the blinding light, flipping through the pages until he reached a blank page. Then he cleared his throat, and began to speak. "We are gathered here today to witness the holy union of this man, Julian, and this woman, Tempest." As he spoke, golden light issued from his mouth, spinning in a loop around him, the bride, and the groom before coming to rest in the book, forming new words within its pages. "Julian, will you have this woman to be your lawful wedded wife, to live together after God s ordinance in the Holy Estate of Matrimony? Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others keep you only unto her as long as you both shall live?" He paused, looking to Julian for an answer. If he wants to. "Maybe," Palsu says, looking at the wall of rocks nervously. "We should get deeper into the cave before we worry about this?"
  22. Palsu stumbled back. "S-sorry." He said nervously. "I was worried you'd been hurt." Moni didn't move as Perseus ran out of sight, lying on the cold stone of the cave. Malevolence nods. He focuses on the glass in his hand. Corrupt. he thinks, focusing intently. The glass crumbles into a fine powder. "Excellent. Thank you for your tutelage. I look forward to learning more of evil from you soon." He left, stepping carefully through the pile of dust that was once a castle wall. "Testimonies from who?" Subversion sniffed. "Random background characters no doubt. Highly untrustworthy, those background characters. Always getting bribed or brainwashed." A bargain? The rabbit's ears twitched. If we find the paper, will you give us food? He feels... almost nothing. A faint tingle that could have been imaginary ran through his fingers. "Thank you." The Dreamsmith says. "Farewell Rebus. Thank you for seeking me." A door was appeared before Rebus. "That door leads out." -- It was a sunny day without a cloud in the sky. The grass underfoot was green with life, and flowers seemed to sprout all around the wedding pavilion. Birds fluttered gracefully through the air, and all was right in the world. The Priest stood at the head of the aisle, robes cleaned and ironed, large book held closed in front of him. He breathed in the clean air and smiled. As soon as the bride and groom arrived, it would be time to begin. @xinoehp512 @Ookla the Irreplaceable @Through The Living Glass@Halcyon The Only
  23. Malevolence looked down at his hands in wonder. "So... whatever I touch will dissolve?" He poked the table experimentally. "Well you know how five-minute class breaks are. It lasted closer to fifteen." The Dreamsmith spins his hammer. "Alright, time to get forging. I shall grant you the weapon you desire. Now, because you're a curious type, I'll explain this to you. Everything I forge has three components: Power, Form, and Name." The Dreamsmith brings his hammer down on the anvil and begins to forge. "The Power I take from you. A piece of your soul, to be made into something more specialized, more potent than it could be before. Sharpened and refined, you might say." As he spoke, a tiny thread of energy moved out of Rebus's chest and onto the Dreamsmith's anvil. "This step is easy for this weapon. You are a Narrator, soul filled with limitless potential. And what you have asked is not so hard." The Dreamsmith brought his hammer down in a flash of light that blinded Rebus for a few moments, and when it faded the power was vanished "The second part is the Form. I take inspiration for the form from the task that is required of the weapon and the one I am making it for. In this case, the Form was simple." The Dreamsmith waved a hand in the air. "Besides redundancy, nanobots are also practically invisible. So I have made this weapon invisible as well." The Dreamsmith closed his eyes, thinking deeply. "The Name is perhaps the most crucial element of any weapon or tool of importance. The ideal name must be unique, perfectly matched to the weapon it describes." His eyes opened, and he nodded to himself. "Your weapon I name Abstract. For it shall allow you to Narrate abstractly, creating Plots and characters that will generate conflict. It may even do so automatically from time to time. Additionally, it will automatically defend you via abstract Narration if necessary." The Dreamsmith smiled at Rebus metallically. "Do you like it? It will follow you automatically and will be undetectable by your enemies. An excellent weapon for a Narrator like you, if I say so myself." "Oh?" Subversion put her hands on her hips. "And why do you think 655 didn't exist? Surely plenty of people can testify that he did." The paper. The rabbit thought. How will useless tasteless paper return him? The Dreamsmith places the crown upon the Emperor's head reverently. The spines of the crown stab into the Emperor's head, but there is no pain. Instead, it simply flashed, then vanished for the moment. "For now, the burden will be light." The Dreamsmith says softly. "But with each demon you capture, there will be a greater and greater burden upon you. I would destroy as many as you can. Use this Blade as a last resort." Palsu hurried over to Faunus, leaning over her with with a face still stained with the blood of the Faceless. "Are you alright?"
  24. You mean the very well-though-out and definitely not made-up and undefined rules? Yeah I have no clue what the rules are.
  25. As someone who has once (accidentally of course) convinced someone to attempt to consume a Clorox wipe, wet wipes are clearly superior to tide pods.
