  1. Acceptable. I can use my own net. Since your wish was consumed due to my previous wish, I should probably launch this off again I wish for the ability to project forcefields
  2. Oof, really should have seen that coming.. Oh no, but that boon is so sweet, what to do... Hmm... Granted, the drinks are stale though. (After discussion, we could all just go out together, preferably a park, have drinks there) or... I wish for the next wisher to cancel out the curse I was forced to give to Butt
  3. Thank you, @Wandering Investor. Hmm, quite possible... what, with the faces in the clouds
  4. Welcome to the Shard, @patrol! The Final Empire was my first foray into Sanderson as well. Hope to see you more on the forums! Bring us WoBs!
  5. Only if taken together. Otherwise, all characters have indicated it as being a major conflict dragged on for a significant amount of time. Don't forget that the Listener population have to be accounted for the population figures as well, and they suffered horrendously severe losses as stated by Eshonai, the others in the Council of 5, Venli, Demid, Rlain, the Highprinces' own accounts etc
  6. Oh wow, I just thought of Feruchemy as a system born of both Preservation and Ruin, with the former's Intent resulting in no net gain or loss, and the latter's Intent resulting in decay of the ability or quality being stored to be able to access it later, and then pretty much never thought of its Realmatics again... This is pretty intensive!
  7. That is something that the Nightwatcher does... poor petitioner "Floating cities of Ashyn, you say? I loves Ashyn, especially their magic system! Granted! You get cancer! But don't worry! The unbearable pain also gifts you with immortality via physical invulnerability against all things!" I wish for a Power Ring (not Ring of Power! Important distinction there, I want to be a Lantern not a Dark Lord!)
  8. Oh snap! The Nightwatcher bursts into raucous laughter "what an enterprising human! clever, clever, very clever... hmm, very well, I shall grant it, Radiant, but!" you start to sweat profusely "I shall remain here, listening to petitions, I shall not deign to give my aid to Roshar in their time of need! Perhaps, in time you may convince me, with higher Ideals you may even coerce me! But until then, you shall remain here beside me, listening to foolish mortals wishing for foolish things, for that is your bane, my Knight!"
  9. "Who is this? What fell sorcery is this? Two Nightwatchers? You think to mock me! Impostor! I shall punish you! Oh how shall I punish you...?" *croons* "Well now, let's change the game then, shall we? For you, impostor I shall make an exception to my rules: you may petition me for your bane, a bane suitable as punishment for your grave error that so besmirched me by imitating me. Perhaps I shall be merciful and grant you a boon as well..... well? speak!"
  10. Granted! You are Adonalsium, so you get killed, Shattered and your killers take up your very pieces and Ascend to become gods. I want to hold a Shard of Adonalsium that is compatible with me
  11. Perpendicularities aren't the only source of Investiture on any planet that we've seen. We weren't making that claim. Perpendicularities form when massive amounts of Investiture naturally pools together in an area, usually due to the presence of a Shard, that perforates through the Three Realms. Yes, it could be just about anywhere, it being in one certain place isn't necessarily indicative of a Shard's location (though that in itself is a tricky term, since Shards inhabit the Spiritual Realm, where distance and time are meaningless). Lack of a Perpendicularity isn't indicative of lack of Investiture either. Those were just different theories on Autonomy's Perpendicularity or how she restricted travel to Taldain, or why Taldain would have been difficult to get to before even that. I'm sorry if what we were saying weren't clear enough. Those were unrelated theories with the only commonality being that they discussed Autonomy; I mentioned them because if Autonomy was the sun, then her Perpendicularity might be on the sun, which was a theory that I thought was relevant to this topic, as it might shed some light on Autonomy' effects if that were to be the case. There is also the WoB on there being a Shard which has not settled on any planet, which Brandon later adds include Ambition but he also clarifies that it was not the Shard he was talking about. Well, a star could be an alternative astrophysical medium for a Shard to settle in.
  12. It lasted for years. The camps of the Highprinces on the Shattered Plains had a bigger population than the capital city of Kholinar, and it was where most of Alethkar's powerful were concentrated. It resulted in a very successful slave route. Can you imagine how many soldiers died over the course of years? Better yet, how many Bridgemen? Plus, the Alethi were almost always at war, the protracted wars of unification by the Kholins, the regular skirmishes that Alethkar had with Vedenar and Herdaz. Plus, at the end of the War of Reckoning, at least two armies of the Highprinces were severely depleted. Would definitely consider it a major conflict for Roshar, and it did leave a sizeable footprint on its population.
  13. No one is yet. Complete Realmatic Theory would come about around the time of Mistborn 4. As I think it would work: The Oathgates are all Connected. Transfer might be done along the lines of these Connections and/or Identity may be used to make one platform think it was another platform or in the location of the other platform (kinda like Soulcasting and Forgery but also quite different) [I highlighted Soulcasting because it is the Surge held by the Elsecallers alongside Transportation]
  14. Granted, the people who turned into zombies are now back to being good ol'-fashioned normal people again... sort of. You see, some of them were partially decomposed during their short stint as undead. And they shall come back to life in those very same bodies, partially decomposed... a truly horrid death. Look what you made me do I want... *grins* the Death Note, or as the Japanese call it, デスノート...
  15. "Mistborn need not make sense"
  16. ...when you can't read any other fantasy
  17. "What do any of you know about skaa? Aristocratic suits, stalking your enemies in the night, full meals and nightcaps around the table with your friends? That’s not the life of a skaa!”She took a step forward, glaring at Kelsier. He blinked in surprise at the outburst.“What do you know about them, Kelsier?” she asked. “When’s the last time you slept in an alley, shivering in the cold rain, listening to the beggar next to you cough with a sickness you knew would kill him? When’s the last time you had to lay awake at night, terrified that one of the men in your crew would try to rape you? Have you ever knelt, starving, wishing you had the courage to knife the crewmember beside you just so you could take his crust of bread? Have you ever cowered before your brother as he beat you, all the time feeling thankful because at least you had someone who paid attention to you?”She fell silent, puffing slightly, the crewmembers staring at her.“Don’t talk to me about noblemen,” Vin said. “And don’t say things about people you don’t know. You’re no skaa— you’re just noblemen without titles.”
  18. @The traveller, found something on it:
  19. @Calderis, on a somewhat related note, in Feruchemy, Brass and Electrum were accidentally switched, iirc, but later there was something about it working narratively... I thought that for the Southern Scadrians (and possibly the Ancient Terris) having brass store heat probably worked better as brass would be significantly cheaper. Kelsier did confirm gold was expensive on Scadrial (or at least in the Final Empire) when giving it to Vin.
  20. @Pagerunner, I would say Lift might have plenty to tell in her backstory even now. We don't know how she met Wyndle and what exactly set her running from Rall Elorim, "the City of Shadows". Plus, her Nightwatcher Boon and Bane But I still love her description just says "annoying"
  21. Hey @Gloomspren! Just out of curiosity, do you have any pics of people wearing them? I want to see how that would actually look...
  22. As Calderis said, this entire fight hinges on the foresight (or mood) of one figure, the Lord Ruler. If he decides to end the match, it will be ended. If he is assassinated somehow, then eventually Roshar would win. Not because of powers, but the simple fact of how new Knights Radiant are initiated. You can join them. Their ranks can be refilled. On the other hand, you have to be born a Mistborn, Misting or Feruchemist. Hemalurgy would definitely not solve that (unless full knowledge of it is disseminated, then RIP Roshar, there are new Radiants in the block). Plus, no supply lines necessary for the Rosharans due to Soulcasting. Many scenarios of this fight ignores various Realmatic rules however. Why are the spren off-world? Also, battle in the Cognitive Realm would go really badly for the Scadrians because Allomancy needs the Physical component of metal to function. Merging of the Three Realms isn't a Bondsmith power, it only happened because Honor was dead and The Stormfather was his Cognitive Shadow. Also, note that in this scenario Roshar has all its Surgebinders but Scadrial doesn't have all possible Mistings in the field (or Twinborns! but that's all right, the scenario is drawn from specific time periods in the books). Why are the Kandra, Koloss and Inquisitors fighting but not the Aimians?(then again, we know very little of how they fight, just that they did so in the Desolations) This fight is, thankfully, narratively unlikely to happen: Why would the spren want to participate? (they are fully sapient beings with their own fully developed society, not just minions or chibi personifications of their Radiants or dæmons), and in the future conflux novels Allomancy is going to decrease in power, as is Feruchemy. But never mind that, that's not the question. In conclusion, just take TLR out (you've already taken the Heralds out) and you'll get the curbstomp... or at least, the probability of a curbstomp increases significantly.
  23. And the War of Reckoning on the Shattered Plains have been going on for years... good thinking!
  24. Welcome to the Shard, @MorallyQuestionablr! Roshar should be fairly populous despite having a single rocky continent, regularly battered by hurricane-lite storms and often devastated by a war between gods. The Desolations haven't occurred for four millenia and the Highstorms are a vital part of the ecosystem. Roshar might be rocky, but it is still mostly comparable a tropical region in the amount of life it can support. It's just that it's ecosystem seems so alien and nothing like the Earth, that we think it should have a smaller population. Roshar is around 459 million sq km in area, the continent itself should be between 115 mil and 55 mil sq km but that's still far larger than any continent on Earth. (I'm sorry but that's the best I can do calculating this, maybe one of the Arcanists have a more precise calculation on one of their pages). There are multiple peoples to consider too, though they might only contribute a very small percentage of the total population: like the Natan as well as the Siah and Dysian Aimians, the Parshendi should be relatively high in population, considering the amount of Parshmen slaves. A lot of the middle states like Tu Bayla, Tu Fallia, Hexi and the Purelake are said to have a nomadic population. The Frostlands are mostly empty. Roshar can feed a larger population due to the Soulcasters than cultures with similar level of technology on Earth. I would put their population at the high millions, possibly a billion but not any higher than that.
  25. Not rolling our eyes at all, in fact thinking something along the lines of "more fresh perspective!!!" We'll not spoil anything for you, but could you come back here (or create a new topic) and post your thoughts on the book when you finish it? We love discussing this kind of stuff
