  1. That's just one method, I did note travel via Shadesmar as a possible alternative method, which I didn't exactly consider to fit within the parameters of teleportation. In fact, I also noted that the first method is also possible in the Cosmere, on Roshar itself. I don't know if Elsecalling will allow for visiting the Spiritual Realm, but if it does that would certainly qualify as teleportation The post isn't an outright rebuttal, only observations, though I do express which side of the argument I lean on
  2. Ah, I've talked about it before on the Shard, for the sake of expediency lemme just copy it over here: Plus, once political connection has been established, sending a different party to maintain diplomatic relations seems suboptimal. This kind of diplomacy may become necessary again as the Stoneward spren, Willshaper spren (Spark is an outlier) and Ashspren in particular still harbour dislike towards humans for the Recreance. Update: Whether the Surge of Transportation's equivalent fabrial are the Oathgates is a RAFO To note, the Expanses were mapped via Elsecalling by Elsecallers and Willshapers (who wants worldhopper Jasnah?)
  3. Jasnah (yes, yes I saw that you voted Truthwatcher, just a quip) Aw, well if you remember...
  4. Well, you will be welcomed by the Heretic herself into her Order Oh, it's a real Hawaaiian compound word? What does it mean?
  5. heresy That..... what is that name? oh god! That's just marvelous, Invo! Numuhukumakiaki'aialunamor would be proud!
  6. Understanding our lies and what we think we should strive to be is integral to personal growth. We've all lied to ourselves and others, for good or otherwise. Lies are needed too, in order to attract a Cryptic and that is a beautiful conundrum of life and Radiancy. RAVENCLAAAWWW!!!
  7. I put Lightweaver for both The Surge of manipulating waveforms? I'm in The Surge of turning this into that? I'm in Plus no Oaths, only Truths They are like the Hufflepuffs, we should all, regardless of our Oaths, try to speak a few Truths to ourselves My second choice would be Skybreakers
  8. *smirks* complete the book, then come back and DM me It's been ages since I've got to discuss those books at length
  9. Hmm... tell me if you could predict the ending of the book
  10. Edgedancers and Dustbringers: drifting!!!!!
  11. He talked about it to Khriss the same way the Lord Ruler's assassination attempts were mentioned. Also healing and long life do sound like they would go together
  12. Hmmmmm... he did mention that Skathan survived attacks on himself. So you can add healing to the list
  13. Same here. Since the result would neither be Stormlight nor would Compounding result in producing or taking in more Investiture But I think the end result would work out, the Surgebinder/Feruchemist/Trueself Ferring would switch over to Preservation for source of Investiture and the result would be virtually the same as having infinite Investiture. He wouldn't run out of "Stormlight" and be able to utilize their respective Surges continuously.
  14. Welcome to the Shard, @Dulator! Judging by the name, you're a fan of Name of the Wind? What's your favourite Cosmere book? World? Magic? Character?
  15. I'm going to try for a more serious response this time: Ruin - I don't think existential crisis qualifies one to hold Ruin. I might turn it into something even worse, like Doom Preservation - I think I might be compatible enough to hold Endowment- no, I'm not a very giving person. I am fair, I think, but selflessness would take a less cynical person than me. I don't believe that putting oneself before others makes one self-centred (as long as one is not being a D). Then again if Edgli could do it (going by her letter), then who knows? Maybe if I could turn it into the Shard of Equivalent Exchange, which seems rather unlikely... Honor - I hope so. Maybe in a different form like Structure or Promise Cultivation - snippy! probably yes Devotion - not really Dominion - not really...? I'm not very possessive or assertive (opinionated, maybe) Ambition - I might be a bit too prone to procrastination for this one but I am ambitious too. This one might just depend on my mood, tbh. If I could turn it into a milder version of itself, like Development, then I'd go for it Autonomy - that's something I can get behind Odium - Meh, I can take it. Maybe turn it into Karma or Vengeance
  16. Will have to agree with Cal & Quantus here. Endowment's presence means someone has to give up Breath in order for someone else to receive it. There are more of the former than the latter. Even if we don't consider the vessel (who sounds really stuck-up) or her system of Investiture, she'd still encourage a type of benevolence I'm not sure I can get behind. Sure I can give... as good as I get. I don't like Entropy. So, pass on Ruin. Autonomy might choose to do nothing so that we remain autonomous. Honor could get very stifling and I do like my just desserts, so no Cultivation... maybe. Odium no Dominion also sounds evil Harmony... sounds fair. You win some you lose some. Devotion... pass Ambition... HAHAHAHA! Found it! Yes, I'd like some Ambition please! Strive for mooooooooooooore!
  17. That seems beyond improbable. Honor is dead and his Cognitive Shadow merged with The Stormfather. The Stormfather denies his involvement in sending any new vision. It could be another Shard being very subtle. We do know Shards can cause similar feelings: from the eternity that Preservation exuded, the burning of Odium, the inevitability of Ruin, but most closely the warmth of Endowment when she offers the choice to Return. Not suggesting that it's Endowment. It might be Cultivation but I dunno.
  18. I also suspected the involvement of this mysterious force with what Dalinar experienced, "source of warmth" and that one vision.
  19. Feruchemy just gets weirder and weirder. I give up!
  20. I've always been in the sentient Investiture camp too It's just recently that I've begun to seriously consider the other possibility. Specifically, in regards to I've started to wonder if this mysterious figure might turn out to be Adonalsium's Cognitive Shadow...
  21. I fail to see how this relates to anything me or @Karger said. For clarification's sake: both Roshar and Taldain's Investiture is tied into their respective ecosystems. Surges can be manipulated by Surgebinders via bonding spren. White Sand can be manipulated by Sand Masters by using their body's water. I theorized that Skathan may have found something similar on Darkside with the Shifting Colors. Edit: Ah, pardon! I didn't see that was in response to @Debarra's comment! The Presence of a Shard isn't necessary to fuel a magic system. Though these magics would be more tied to the Shardworld's ecosystem Though that might depend on what you view as a magic system. Although FotS probably was designed by Adonalsium himself, Patji does seem to have something to do with the Aviar.
  22. Huh, so the extract presented by the OP showcases another weird thing about medallions? Also, tapping while sleeping wasn't something that Feruchemists or Ferrings could do? I also don't see why one wouldn't be able to store weight while asleep.
  23. I don't see why Adonalsium couldn't have foreseen his Shattering. It's a fairly popular theory that he let it happen, right alongside re-combining all the Shards being Hoid's ultimate goal. Him still being alive is new though. Nothing to definitively say whether or not Adonalsium is dead aside from Khriss' words. We'll have to wait for Dragonsteel to release before any more conjecture, I think. @RShara, do we have any confirmation on Adonalsium's nature? Whether he was more of a force or a being? I understand that with Brandon's choice of words "...killed him" and the WoB that Investiture left alone may gain sentience, that Adonalsium probably was a being, but last we heard from Khriss that was just conjecture.
  24. We haven't seen Voidbinding yet so we don't know. The Fused aren't Voidbinding, there are multiple threads on that, go check them out and various rest of the examples we've seen of Odium's Investiture is lesser Voidspren (Forms of Power) and the Unmade (corrupted spren of Sja-Anat, all Surges by Yelig-Nar, Thrill by Nergaoul) But we do know that the mechanics do allow for this to happen. Brandon did say that Seon and Skaze can be used as Shardblade equivalent if they had something more pulling them into the Physical Realm.
