  1. Probably Gallant's spren is actually inside him, just not in a gemheart? Not sure, tbh.
  2. Well, there's also this WoB, then: Shards can fuel any effect. It being very Honory should not prevent Odium from fueling a similar effect. Manipulation of Connection is a very dangerous thing for a Shard whose main threat has to do with the fact he fuels them via a Connection to grant. Even if it's unlikely, why even take the risk? I would say Connection is far scarier than most of the other powers.
  3. I think Adhesion being more of Honor is true. I just also think it doesn't actually matter when it comes to Odium granting it. Remember, there's the whole "Ruin and Preservation could both fuel all three Metallic Arts" thing, a Shard can grant another Shard's magic if they want. It doesn't grant enough power for Rayse to risk people breaking free of his control, imo. He doesn't want weary Fused disobeying him or even defecting. Probably no Perp, sure, but the Fused tend to be more skilled with their Surges than Radiants, so....
  4. From the sound of it, Division is gated for both its orders, and iirc Shallan has to hit the Third Ideal before she can Soulcast at will. I imagine the former might be a restriction by Honor (which might mean it no longer holds, and is just the Skybreakers choosing to not use or teach it earlier), latter is probably just that going to Shadesmar is hard and requires a stronger bond to do. Could relate to the amount of Stormlight used as well - maybe Kaladin just couldn't take in enough Light to fuel a proper Basic Lashing yet.
  5. I feel like it's probably just spren, since Ryshadium have spren bonds but presumably don't have a gemheart to put them in like most Rosharan life.
  6. Meh, my take on this is that Odium's just lying to the Fused to avoid giving them Connection powers, which he doesn't want to give them. I think he's probably fully capable of granting it if he wants to.
  7. See, I disagree. I think he 100% has the power to grant Adhesion if he wanted. But he doesn't want to risk giving the Fused power over Connection, because they might figure out a way to use it to break their dependence on him, sever the Connection and find a new source of Investiture to subsist off. I think he's chullcremming them. He tells them "oh no, it's fake, Honor lied to you, yadayadayada" and they for some reason bought it. Sibling also refers to it as Honor's Surge, iirc, so it's probably true it aligns more with Honor, though. But I doubt that prevents Odium from granting it. (I'd note that the Voidbinding chart has Adhesion and its orders in their normal places.)
  8. Yeah lol, that one's definitely true at least, lmao. I've wondered the same. It offers an answer to how she suddenly was capable of something new that was so extremely powerful. Plus, Melishi saw the Connection lines. This indicates that the limits Honor put on Bondsmiths were breaking down, allowing her Bondsmith much more power, assuming a Mishram Bondsmith would even be limited by it in the first place.
  9. Eh, I personally don't see why it'd be required for Adhesion and nothing else. But it's a possibility.
  10. Hemalurgy was practiced before then.
  11. That is an assumption, I feel? We don't see any other Edgedancers or Truthwatchers awake to tell. My thought on this is just that Odium made some crem up and they fell for it. I feel like he didn't want to give the Fused any Connection power, so he went "uhhh idk man, can't do it, Honor y'know, uhhhhhhhhh it's fake blame him", and they bought it for some reason.
  12. What app is that? Looks nice. Hmm, forgot Mythwalker was a thing. Might look at one for that, but I can't off the top of my head think of any good very simple symbol, so most likely I won't. If I ever get a response to my email requesting Final Empire Prime and Mistborn Prime, I'll look into those as well, lol. But that doesn't seem likely to be any time soon.
  13. I've edited the The Way of Kings Prime cover to make covers for a few other unpublished works, as I thought the cover looked rather nice, and that the other unpublished novels needed covers anyway. The Pimp My Aether thread explains how to convert the Word files to eBook formats and attach covers. White Sand: Aether of Night: Dragonsteel Prime: Liar of Partinel: Mythwalker: Mistborn Prime: Final Empire Prime:
  14. That's true, I'm probably thinking of this in a too-simplified way. Very good point, lol.
  15. Shards don't decide what their magic systems do. Assuming you mean this current Desolation, we see some nightforms mentioned this book. I have a different theory on this — I think Mishram was a Bondsmith spren (my theory says naturally of Odium, but it's possible she was corrupted by him post-arrival). I know Brandon's said the Bondsmith is the missing Unmade, but like, a. she Connected to an entire species, b. he said it's not one-to-one anyway. Personally, I feel fabrials are more similar to Aviar, in that they are, while a magic system, not really the same "type" of magic system, for lack of a better word. I believe we know any Splinter can be used to make a fabrial-type device? I feel like this is probably just because it's Roshar, personally. Just like Hemalurgy and Allomancy have the same number of metals. (I'm also on the side that the numbers are more due to perception by those on the planet than the Shards themselves, but that's speculation.)
  16. The questioner literally said "like how spren are" and Brandon said yes, as well as the fact Brandon explicitly states that the Heralds are suffering from magical illness, which he attributes partly to perception. I mean, yes they can. They feel the urge to do something, and as he says, they react against it. They fight it, they do the opposite of what they feel the pull to do, for thousands of years, until they hit the point where it's become automatic to them. The only differences in behavior we have seen that I can think of are 1. the Heralds are able to react against perception and Intent, which I would attribute more to the fact that a spren's mind, having grown out of the power, is simply less likely to consider it; and 2. the fact that some die in gemstones after a time. Except you would not describe the singers as humans that evolved on Roshar, nor would you describe humans as singers that evolved on Ashyn.
  17. Or Melishi just didn't abandon his Ideals and kill the Sibling. We don't technically have a timeline, but we have very strong implications of a very very short timeline between Mishram's capture and the Recreance. If the singers were already lobotomized, what "demons" would the Radiants have been fighting directly before coming to Feverstone Keep and breaking their Ideals? They had to have been fighting shortly before that scene. And Melishi's Bondsmith powers have been stated to be required for Mishram's capture, so the bond could not have been broken before then.
  18. We've been told by Brandon that they are. They aren't, though. They're made from a person, but changed into a different form. Brandon has even referred to them as "spren or seons created from human souls". "Spren" on Roshar refers to a category of beings that are extremely similar to each other; that is, Rosharan spren, seons, skaze, Cognitive Shadows, Shards, etc. All of these are fundamentally the same thing, with small differences between the subtypes.
  19. I mean, the Sibling was bonded to Melishi. And Melishi's powers were required for the imprisonment of Mishram, so he had to have them at least up until then. And since a] the gemstones in the tower never mention the outcome of the imprisonment, and b] the Radiants were out fighting right before the Feverstone Keep vision, it's safe to say the Recreance was likely pretty much immediately after that.
  20. The Fused early on, when Raboniel proposes the invasion, pick out Knights of the Fourth Ideal as a danger because they can overcome the block, and have to get Jasnah and Dalinar out. Presumably, Kaladin was just close enough to the Ideal. Not a thing. Investiture inherently has Intent.
  21. Heralds are Cognitive Shadows, which are ultimately pretty much the same thing as spren, with a different origin. They're Cognitive entities made of Investiture affected by perception with a driving Intent that can be trapped in gems and can form Nahel-esque bonds with people (though not necessarily granting powers; seons, Nightblood, etc use the same mechanism for the things they do, but don't grant powers).
  22. I suppose that could be possible, but it sounds very strange to me that something could be conducted by something if they explode on contact. Two answers I can think of. One, it's still Allomancy, and so still gives off Preservation's tone. Two, Brandon hadn't thought of this yet and it's another "why can atium be Pushed and Pulled" situation, lol. (Or both.) Yeah, this is my stance too. Was just arguing against the idea a custom mix is needed for each spren. I imagine it'd still work. Brandon's said that Shardblades are "alloys" (well, not Physical alloys, but weird Spiritual stuff) of Honor and Cultivation's metals, and that, while the types aren't all the same exact mix, many would call them the same "alloy" as each other. This makes me think that the proportions are all relatively similar, even in so-called honorspren and cultivationspren.
  23. They might claim that, but Brandon has said there is disagreement in-world over the "closest to Honor" thing, and if one was verifiably "pure" Honor I doubt this would be the case. He has also generally couched his statements in "well, the honorspren would claim" when he talks about them being the most Honor. Also, the odd thing: anti-VL flows through raysium, so the anti-Lights aren't anti-everything-of-that-Shard. So does this mean spren are Light?
